Been going there for years. The owner has changed and I still travel from out of town for my exams.

We have had nothing but great experiences at Loma Linda Eye Institute. After interviewing 2 other…read moresurgeons Dr. Frank Hwang did my cataract surgery and also gave me great advice about the upgraded lens that I did not need. It in fact could have harmed my vision. I have also used the opticians there and had good results. It is so important to get that prescription right the first time. I had a bad prescription in Arizona once and the result was hundreds of dollars of bad useless lenses. Stay away from Doctors not part of a hospital system is my advice.

Dr. Frank Hwang does not play around and he's straight to the point. He's thorough and consistently gives me updates on my eye health. I especially appreciate that he conducts mapping tests and eye exams all in one day! Dr. Hwang is a true professional, and Loma Linda is lucky to have him. I also wanted to shoutout Jessica (the office coordinator) she's always super supportive, friendly and caring. I had to get a Corneal Cross-linking done here and she helped me find the necessary resources to ensure I got the procedure rolling. Dr, Hwang and his staff seriously care about people's health! The facility is always clean and easy to find. As soon as you walk into the Loma Linda Clinic/Office building it's a slight curve to the right and straight ahead. I highly recommend this office as they have up-to-date imaging and advanced technology. There's satellite clinics for the Eye Institute, but I recommend booking here as this is where all the main imaging and tests are ran.

Thank you, Hilda, for straightening out my contact issue!!!!…read more Saved me an hour drive. You are the BEST!

Background: Earlier this year, on your referral, I was seen…read moreat Azul Vision for chronic, severe tearing that impairs my vision roughly 25-50% of the time. The first step taken was a tear duct probing procedure, performed by the surgeon there. It did not resolve the tearing. At the follow-up visit, that same doctor, Dr. Duane Logan, noted -- in front of his assistant -- that the tear ducts were open and functioning, but that the outer edge of my lower eyelid had dropped, which is what's preventing tears from draining properly. He recommended a DCR (with tubes) along with eyelid tightening and fat prolapse removal to address this. When I went to schedule the procedure, Azul Vision's scheduling staff classified it as cosmetic and quoted me a $5,000 out-of-pocket cost. I disputed this, since the eyelid dropping is a functional issue directly causing my vision impairment, not a cosmetic concern. I also called my insurance, SCAN, directly; their representative confirmed that coverage depends on how thoroughly the treating doctor documents the medical necessity in the authorization -- not on the classification alone. After I escalated this in writing to the local office and then to Azul Vision's corporate office, I was given an earlier consult, which took place today, September 22, with Dr. Michael Warner at the Pomona office. Today's appointment: Dr. Warner stated that the condition is cosmetic, and described the tear duct procedure Dr. Logan performed as "merely a test," despite Dr. Logan's own documented finding that my eyelid had dropped. No procedure was scheduled. His only recommendation was eye drops, with a follow-up in seven weeks -- leaving the underlying issue unaddressed. I also want to note, respectfully, that the manner of the visit was difficult. Dr. Warner was dismissive of my concerns and did not engage with the medical reasoning I raised. My husband was present for the appointment and observed the same thing; he has said he would not want me to return to this doctor based on how the visit went. What I'm asking: Given that I now have two conflicting assessments from within the same practice (Dr. Logan's findings versus Dr. Warner's "cosmetic" classification and dismissal of the prior procedure), and given the manner of today's visit, I don't have confidence continuing with Azul Vision for this issue. I would like your help identifying another oculoplastic specialist -- ideally one who can give an independent, unbiased evaluation of the eyelid drop, the fat prolapse, and whether a DCR with eyelid repair is medically necessary. My vision continues to be significantly affected day to day, and I'd like to get this resolved with a provider I can trust to evaluate it fairly. Please let me know how you'd like to proceed, or if you need anything further from me. Thank you, Robert Luna

Hello Everyone, it is with heavy heart that I write this negative review for Pacific Eye Center in…read moreColton. Dr. Erika Saucedo is a kind person, and when I found her and decided she was the right person to do my cataract surgery, I was impressed by her bedside manner and her enthusiasm. I thought it would be quick and simple. My husband had surgery for two cataracts last year somewhere else, and he did well, so I was very excited to be able to see again, due to the fact I am now the only person to drive in my family. Well, unfortunately, the doctor did not explain that I had a stigmatism and needed a different lens that would have cost an additional $2000 dollars. No person mentioned this at any time. All my senior friends with stigmatism never had any of my problems. So after the surgery, I had it January 23, by May 17, my sight went from 20/30 to 20/50 and it is getting worse and worse. I now can not see to drive or to read or to watch TV with subtitles, etc. etc. etc. I spoke to the doctor and she sent me to a Laser surgeon to pay $2200 out of pocket for correction, but I asked her to bill my medical for "medical surgery necessity" because the laser place expects me to pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed. I called the manager of the company to speak to her about the issue, and to ask that the medical surgery information be sent to my insurance, due to the fact that this issue is not because of vanity, but medical necessity for sight. She never returned my calls. After another month, I called and made an appointment with the doctor to meet to discuss. The manager never showed up or participated in any of these meetings. I have waited another 3 weeks and finally last week, I heard from the manager stating that she would submit the paperwork. Again nothing done. I am very dissatisfied with the organization, the doctor is sweet and kind, but the manager is very incompetent and should be replaced by someone with logic, responsibility and functionality. Will update when something fixes the problem. Will now have to report organization and doctor to applicable Boards, BBBf and other places.

I recently ended up with some foreign material in my eye. I immediately flushed it with saline and called it a day... or so I thought. After two days of continued irritation I was concerned enough to call and inquire about an appointment before the long Thanksgiving weekend, and was fortunate to get one same day. I must confess that I was a little apprehensive as I had never heard of the available doctor, but I was experiencing enough discomfort to give it a shot. Enter Dr. Marina Awadalla, O.D. I could not have had a more positive experience! Dr. Awadalla is congenial, knowledgeable, extremely kind, and very thorough. I am thankful (pun intended!) on this Thanksgiving Eve that I was fortunate enough to receive care from such a consummate professional. I would be remiss if I did not mention Jackie, a simply amazing assistant with the requisite personality and all of the professional qualities of anyone dedicated to medical care. And finally, Ashlynn (Sp?) does a great job assisting patients in the intake process. Bottom line: GREAT experience!!
