One of the women at the front desk Jackie is very rude and ill-mannered; she doesn't know how to provide good customer service. My son and I got upset with her; her attitude changed a bit once my son confronted her, but from the moment we arrived, she was incredibly arrogant and rude. I didn't like it at all. I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this it has happened to many people and that is why this place has such bad reviews because of her. Her employers really ought to consider this; if she doesn't like working there or being patient, she shouldn't be working at the front desk. read more

I have been waiting for the past four months to get my prescription, but she can't seem to submit the correct pre auth form required to get the medicine. Staff lies about how long glasses will take to come in. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses, one sunglasses and one regular pair of glasses. I was told initially that it would take 2 weeks and one pair came in a day before expected and the sunglasses can in the day that was quoted. While I was driving to pick them up they called to tell me that the sunglasses needed to be sent back and that it would be another 4 days. I called back a week later and they tell me that the lab hasn't even received the glasses to work on yet and it'll be another week and a half. So far, this has been a terrible experience and I think the worst part is that there hasn't even been any attempt to remedy the situation. No discount or even an apology. They are playing the radio to their preferred station. They have trouble awnsering questions. They say yes, yes, I will tell the doctor. They agree to whatever you say. But they dont follow thru. A very young girl takes you back and test you on all the machines. She is not trained well to be able to communicate what you should do. Its as if you are expected to know. Then she takes you to another room, where she says you will meet the doctor. It is a screen on the wall. The girl said she had never met the doctor. I said this feels a bit sketch. She looked at me with big wide eyes. I will not be returning. and hope to god my glasses are going to be right. I should have read reveiws. I went in good faith. Getting there: Located in the Walgreens shopping center next to the Denny's. There is parking in the front lot of the building. Experience: I've come to this location for the past two years from my annual eye exam and I haven't had any issues. The receptionists are nice, the dr's are great about letting know you know exactly what is going on with your eyes. Walked in and was immediately told I needed a mask, no "hello" or "welcome" with it. The front desk receptionist did not have her cloth mask over her mouth and nose when I walked in (while customers were also in the office) and was sure to put it up before gesturing to me that I needed one. I asked if they had any extra and was told I could probably purchase one from nearby Walgreens or Dollar Tree. It was a short first and last visit. And I'm done. I've gone here annually since I moved to Yucaipa. Frame selection has always been mediocre, but employees will tell you to go to the Beaumont location for better frames. A smart business owner would realize that customers of this location want a good selection of quality product. I go here for convenience. If I'm forced to go to their Beaumont location, I'd prefer to go to someone in Redlands, which is closer and more cosmopolitan. But it's close and the service has been helpful and friendly. Until now. I broke my prescription sunglasses and wanted a replacement pair made quickly. I came here and found nothing great, but chose something ok because I was in a bind. I was told that it's "illegal" to make me a new pair of sunglasses because my prescription is a little over a year old. Not only is this not true, it's not even their store's policy. I reminded the girl, and had her check my account; I had sunglasses made there about 18 months ago with a prescription that was about 2.5 years old. She acknowledged this, and stated again that it's "illegal". Refusing to help a customer who's spent thousands there, basing the decision on neither California law or store policy. The ONLY reason I was going to buy sunglasses here was because they have my current prescription it would save me time. If I have to get re-tested, I'm going somewhere with frames I actually like. I have glaucoma and need to have my eye pressure checked regularly. After testing the results are available to the doctor however they won't promise to get it to me until 3 weeks or more later. This last time they were more than 2 months later with my calling multiple times and begging for the results. I found out today my eye pressure is out of range for the goal and need to add a second medication to control it. I think I need a new optometrist who has more concern for my health. read more

I didn't like that even though I have insurance they always tried to sell me on the most expensive things. They first quoted 300 for lenses and then 200 and then 150. I felt like I was in a car dealership here. I don't like the feeling of not being satisfied by a purchase. Our first visit here. The whole family wears glasses but our 18 year old has (Diplopia) double vision issues and this was one of the only doctors in the area to offer vision therapy. We had wonderful service and care from every staff member and Dr. VanGuilder. In fact, we had a great time; everyone was so nice! Kim and Evette were especially kind and helpful. When we left the office my son told me it was the best experience he's had at an optical office, and we've been to many!!! So someone from this business contacted me and wrote a response saying they don't want to violate any "standards" by handing out a free emergency sets to non-patients. She also said they have high-end designs. HA. They must have scraped the bottom of the Gucci barrel, because of those high-end brands, they carry the lamest designs. I bet they bought them whole-sale. Also, I offered to buy a single set of contacts from them, and they were snotty about it and said no. Really???? Yes. Oh, and I had a scratch on my Prada sunglasses and, out of sheer curiosity, asked how much it would cost to replace the lenses. They quoted me some crazy price over $200. But the chronology of events as reported to you by your staff is just poor cover and quite inaccurate. If you find the name of Dr who saw me, (I don't care to look), she is your loose cannon. This place is a constant headache. Their Calimesa location took 6 months to get my daughters glasses. Then gave me the run around has to which location they were at. Then, after paying for my husbands glasses they did the same thing. Took 3 months to get $400 glasses. When I asked for a prescription for each of them with the pupillary distance included they refused. Unfortunately I had to go in to replace my husbands lens and I confirmed twice they'd be at the Beaumont location only to be told after driving almost 2 hours to get there that they are in Calimesa. I made an eye appt specifically for a color blind test. I verified that this was part of the exam when I booked my appt. At the end of the exam I was told that I would have to book an appt at another location for the only part of the eye exam I actually needed! I was pleased with my exam and customer service and ordered glasses from this store. They said it would took 2-3 weeks for the glasses to arrive and they would call. It was difficult to reach them by phone, so I called several times during weeks 5 and 6. Finally got a hold of someone today and was told my glasses were there but they couldn't notify me because there was no phone number. I told them there was a number when they called me to remind me of the appointment. They said well there wasn't one now. I asked about a card by USPS and there was no response and finally an apology. The doctor and person I dealt with are very nice and I'd hate for this review to stop one from using them for eye exams etc. but a suggestion, I know I gave them the info to contact me at from mailing address and phone number and email. In the future, somebody should realize that there are eyeglasses sitting there with nobody picking them up. An Ernest effort should be made to contact the customer by mail T the least. read more

Initially everything was wonderful, until the trial contacts the doctor gave me seemed wrong somehow. I asked the doctor about it and she said they needed time to adjust. After about 20 minutes, things were still very wrong. I asked to see the doctor again and the staff became very rude. I had to argue with them to even see her for another minute. The doctor then proceeded to repeat over and over that she corrected me to 20/20 and would not listen to my concerns. I kept pleading with her that something was really wrong and she told me she could not under or over correct me. I did not want that, I just wanted her to check the contacts because they were really wrong. I could not read a large logo on a box a couple of feet away, I could not read the Starbucks sign across the street. My depth perception was way off, it was like the ground was 2 feet higher than usual. It was horrible and the doctor would not listen, just kept saying it was corrected to 20/20. I don't know if I was given the wrong lens for my right eye by mistake (I can't see well out of my left due to a previous surgery) or what, but it was scary having my vision like that and the eye doctor not caring. Then as I was paying, yes still had to pay for that, I tried to ask a question to the billing woman. She rudely and loudly told me to wait until she was finished with my paperwork. I been basically yelled it. Then when going over paperwork that I couldn't see, the numbers didn't add up and I let her know they undercharged me (why I'm so honest I don't know). She proceeded to, in an extremely rude tone, say, "Well, that was when you tried to ask a question, wasn't it!" I was shocked! She then ripped my credit card from my hand and ran it again. My daughter and I could only look toward each other in disbelief. I signed the paper, the lady took the pen from me before I could even set it down and thrust the papers at me, without the prescription even. She told me the doctor would need to see me again and I mumbled, "Yeah, right." and left. I walked out the door she, in a snarky tone yelled, "You're welcome. " I turned and told her, at this point honestly mad, "Sorry I asked you a question." I got to my car and was unable to drive, my daughter was laughing at me try to walk, because my depth perception was so off and I took those horrible lenses out and could once again see with my old prescription glasses. I have been wearing contact lenses for around 30 years and have never experienced anything like that. Wow! read more

Where do I start??? The first time I went I scheduled for the Yucaipa office. Which is where I live. The wait was ridiculous- It took over an hour just to get my exam. The staff was not friendly at all. After the exam I was sent to sit at a little table to get my glasses ordered. I was told I have dry eyes and the doctor prescribed Restasis for it. As I sat there for a while I realized that almost EVERY single person was given a prescription for Restastis. Curios. I signed a waiver to have my records transferred from my previous optometrist- Focus Vision never requested them and they tried to blame it on my previous optometrist office. A week or 2 later I was then called and told that I may have the start of Glaucoma. Whoever it was that called me- it was NOT the doctor- she could not answer any of my questions. I had to GOOGLE what Glaucoma was. Each appointment after that was always at the Beaumont office. I never once saw the doctor again. I had to call each and every time after any testing that was done to try and pry the test results out of them. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate Glaucoma. And was told that normally a prescription for eye drops was prescribed, but that they doctor would probably make me wait 6 months to prescribe it. What????? They ended up calling in a prescription for me, but I had gotten to the point where I had enough and made an appointment elsewhere for a second opinion. After extensive testing- paid out of pocket- it turns out that I do NOT have Glaucoma and I don't need the eye drops. I was instructed to cease using them immediately. I went to get my eye exam with an appointment and waited over an hour after my appointment time. Very disorganized and rude. My prescription was too strong when I received my glasses. So I made another appointment at the calimesa location thinking i wouldn't have to wait as long after my appointment time being a new location. I was wrong! I waited 45 mins to finally see the doctor for her to recheck my vision. It has been over three weeks and I still have NOT received my new pair of lens. I called the office and they had said something went wrong when making my lens. The girl said she would call me right back to check when they would be in and it has been a week and NO phone call. I am again disappointed in this place. There are always surprise fees. I asked three different people I was going to be charged anything even if I had a contact lens fitting. Everyone said my insurance covered everything. At the end there is a $60 fee for contact lens fitting. The doctor is impersonal and cold. Everything is mechanical and rushed ( except for always having to wait for Dr.). I have a very bad RX and there was no inquiry or personal interaction to determine best RX. Most of the people I dealt with at all three of their locations were not knowledgeable and were not polite. it took them five tries to get my lenses correct and two frame changes. The last frame they did for me was fine when I tried it on once I got my glasses completed I put the frame on and immediately told one of the girls that worked there they hurt my nose and the back of my ears I said it's fine I'll just try them over the weekend and see what happens. Well they ultimately made my nose bleed and my ears bleed. I mailed them back to their main location in Beaumont. I requested a refund and I was told no. They have the product they have the frames they can resell and they have my money they are thieves plain and simple. I got my insurance company to pay for my co-pays to get a new pair glasses but they didn't cover The coatings those were $100 I contacted them at focus vision and asked them to at least give me my money back for the coatings. They obviously feel they have the right to steal from me. They've ignored me they've been nasty to me and they've stolen my money I would recommend to everyone do not go there do not take a chance on getting your money stolen. read more

They want me to pay for glaucoma tests that I found out I can get for free from my insurance by going to my primary care and requesting a optomologist. Glaucoma is a medical problem not a visual per say. I have never cared for them but I thought I had to go to them because of my insurance. Have since found out different. Wish I had been smarter two years ago about looking into them. I have already paid for some tests not knowing what I know now. Beware Beware. I called another place but did not mention Focus Vision by name and the girl knew exactly who I was talking about. Said they get 3 or 4 calls a week from F V unhappy clients. Also, you have an appt. but good luck getting in in a timely manner. I waited over 45 minutes for first part of test then another 15 for Dr. and then more while she reviewed. Kept saying she would have to take them to the Beaumont office because that is where my other info was. Never have been to Beaumont and had to tell the Dr. and the other girl the same thing.
