Went way too early to grand opening day drawn by the adorable totes. Totally worth it. I brought a friend to pass the time. It did take about 1hr for the like the first 15 people in line. They only had 3 workers for the first hour. One on matcha, explaining each time he made a drink. Two on food, switching between taking orders and making orders so it was exceedingly slow. But the service was patient and consistent. The quality was high. Not what you expect in a mall. The bowl was yummy and good balance of protein, veggie and rice. The matcha was a small cup but 6g matcha whisked in warm water. Very smooth and vibrantly green.

Was very excited with the capybara logo and inari sushi, but was not thrilled with the actual execution of the rolls. The ingredients didn't seem high quality nor unique to each roll. Similar ingredients such as the pickled banana peppers were sprinkled on top of 3 of the cooked pieces. The purple rice was overcooked to the softest congee paste that isn't true to sushi rice. I don't think I'll stop by here unless there has been a complete revision to their approach to Japanese cooking.

One of my new fav matchas in Chicago! The flavor was strong, earthy and slightly bitter which I enjoy but you can make it a lot sweeter if that's your thing. Portion is on the smaller side but I'd rather have something well made and smaller than larger and mediocre. Only had one piece of yubu sushi and it was fresh but wish there was a little more flavor. Great stop for a grab and go lunch or afternoon pick me up.

This is such a cool place. Even though it's located in a mall the matcha maker is amazing. He calls up people one by one to explain the matcha powder, where it's sourced, and how it's ground. A super special experience. The yubu was also delicious. I got the creamy crab, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon and my favorite was the spicy tuna. I will definitely be back.

Friendly staff, fresh food but super long wait and slow service unfortunately. Matcha was perfect

Food was amazing! I tried their Torched Salmon Yubu and YuYubu bowl, both were very filling and worth it for the price. The matcha was also very good! I got the Masters Blend matcha with Yuyubu blend milk, and it tastes great. I would definitely come back here just for their matcha. The service was also honestly really good! There is only a handful of places I know of that has noticeably good service, and this is now one of them! Overall, this is a great, affordable spot to stop by when in the area and want some bites to eat and high-quality matcha.

The server asked if I was in a hurry or if I wanted her to prepare my matcha in front of me--and I'm glad I stayed.

I could hear the sizzling from the grill, smell the food cooking, and by that point I was more than ready to eat. Our server was really nice and gave us a bunch of recommendations. Everything sounded good, but I ended up going with the Pork Belly Yakisoba. This dish was packed with flavor. The noodles had that smoky, slightly charred taste, and they were coated in just enough sauce to make every bite rich. The sauce brought a nice balance of savory, a little sweetness, and plenty of umami that soaked into the noodles. The pork belly was easily the best part. It was incredibly tender and juicy, with just enough fat that it practically melted in your mouth. Every piece had those caramelized edges that added even more flavor. Then you get the crunch from the cabbage and bean sprouts, the freshness from the scallions, and the little nutty flavor from the sesame that tied everything together. Hahaha I'd definitely come back. This is one of those dishes that sticked with me long after I left.

I got the pork okonomiyaki lunch set and added a fried egg to it. I like that the table has a built in grill to keep it warm (I'm a slow eater, so this is extra beneficial for me). The bacon was quite salty, compounded by the okonomi sauce. Hoping the kombu vegetables would offset this, I mixed them into each bite to no avail. The pandan coconut mochi donut holes I chose were probably the highlight. They were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and there was ample sauce for dipping. I think some people would find the service top notch here--constantly checking in on me and keeping water refilled. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

Candidly it wasn't on my to-do, but the restaurant happened to be on my route back to my hotel and I hadn't had dinner yet. I walked into the restaurant, and there was a spot open right at the bar waiting for me. I think it was meant to be. Loved the vibe of the restaurant, which was casual but trendy. Best part of all was the music. My ears perked up when I heard Hieroglyphics - The Who... A Plus Remix. Instantly felt "at home" with the underground, old school hip hop. Compliments to their curated Pandora playlist. I ordered the the spicy scallop roll, super san roll, and sawara (Spanish mackerel) nigiri. The spicy scallop roll was my favorite. The super san roll was a mix of their toro with varying fattiness. I appreciated that you could order half rolls at Sushi-San, which came out to 5 pieces instead of 10. This was more than enough food for me. The sawara was buttery and fresh. If you don't like the "fishiness" of saba, you'll enjoy sawara. Lastly, overall customer service was great. The food came out incredibly fast. The bartender who assisted me was awesome. He was attentive and personable.

I came with a friend for lunch during the week and they have a somewhat decent lunch special (for today's standards when factoring the cost of living and inflation). We took advantage of that and ordered the 3 combo platter per person so we got 6 total items since there was two of us. The highlights for us were three yellowtail yuzu sushi as well as the salmon rice bowl. The miso soup that came out first wasn't that great. It was overly salty. My friend who is from Japan that I ate with said this place was ok for American standards but not at all great compared to anything in Japan lol.

The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent throughout my visit. It's a great spot whether you're going with a group or dining solo, which made me feel right at home. My waitress recommended the Katsuobushi Pork Ramen for its rich, thick broth and unique, thick-cut pork belly. Her suggestion was completely spot on! The creamy broth and pork belly were delicious. If you're looking to step outside the usual ramen lineup, give the Katsuobushi Pork Ramen a try--I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I also ordered the Takoyaki, which was fantastic as well. Highly recommended!

You can tell they water it down a lot and just add a ton of minced garlic to make up for it. By the end of my bowl it was just boiled garlic crumbles. The tonkotsu was also completely the wrong color: translucent, watery, brown chicken-broth looking--not a nice light, fatty, and milky brown. Missing flavor. The chicken ramen was also extremely underwhelming, ZERO FLAVOR in the broth and the chicken!!!!! The meat itself was very moist, but the broth honestly tastes like a can of low sodium chicken broth. Really embarrassing excuse for ramen. I really expected more out of this place. Can't compete with A-tier Asian food in other areas. Service was pretty poor too. One girl for the entire floor of tables. Ignored us the entire time apart from getting our orders. Overall not worth coming back when there's so much better Asian food out there to try.
