Been here 2x and have ordered to go orders as well. I really enjoy their scallion pancakes and minced pork rice dish. It reminds me of some items from Taiwan. Considering this area, I am glad Yu Noodles is here. read more

Pretty good, tasty Chinese food for the area (which generally lacks authentic Chinese options), so I'm happy to have this restaurant open up around here! I ordered a few dishes for takeout, but noticed the restaurant itself looks bright and inviting inside. True to its name, the noodle dishes here stand out the most. Their soup dumplings are decent too, though they're a bit on the smaller side. I'd usually drive out to south Edison for good, authentic Chinese food but it's nice to have this alternative closer to home when the craving hits. read more

A nice addition to the area The room is airy and comfortable. The menu includes tasty soup dumplings, fresh noodle dishes, and a variety of dim sum plates. The Scallian Pancakes were flaky and delicwith the sauces on the table. The service was helpful and made you feel like you were eating in someone's home. There is a 3.5% service charge for credit cards. read more

I've come here again and wanted to add a few notes. The good: I don't usually eat pork but the pork dumplings were well flavored, the dough is thin and soft- the filling rich, the chili oil gives it a spicy kick and the peanuts added depth of flavor. The beef ramen was massive, with flavorful cubes of meat and a hearty broth. The bad: The shrimp crystal dumplings were overly fishy, and didn't smell the freshest unfortunately. I had the sticky rice with mango dessert and was less enthusiastic about it this time. The rice was overcooked and was a solid glob. Mixed feelings on the last visit Overall still A-okay for certain menu items-with friendly service and a nice ambiance, plentiful parking too. However there are certain menu items I'd steer clear of and the overly fishy shrimp was one I wouldn't have again. read more

If Yu know, Yu know! ;) Yu Noodles slurped its way into our hearts! I came here with the whole fam (kids, brother, sis-in-law) and every single bowl was deeeeelicious! For appetizers, the Szechuan Beef Tripe and Edamame were good. The Soupy Buns (XLB) were pretty good, but not their strong point. Their noodle soups are tasty comfort in a bowl! My Chongqing Noodles had the perfect mix of slight spice (Szechuan peppercorn), crunch (peanuts), and beef. Dessert was just the right touch of sweet and not clingy, like the perfect ex. Trust me, Yu deserve this meal. ;) NOTES/TIPS: **Payment in cash is less than credit. **Plenty of parking in a shared plaza lot. **Big space with plenty of tables. Modern warm vibes. read more

I stopped here after my trip to the nail salon next door and I was VERY satisfied. The food was delicious and I was full. Authentic and flavorful. The woman serving us was very patient and helped us pick our meals. I will return for sure. The vibe was quiet and the tables are nicely spaced out. read more

I'm excited that a new Chinese place opened close to us. Based on the menu, I had certain expectations of what they'd taste like so a ome dishes were just average, some were slightly below. The beef and tripe was more... tendon than tripe. I didn't even have one piece in there that was truly tripe - not sure what's going on there. Chicken thigh with rice was a bit underwhelming. I'm happy this place opened and likely try more items in the near future. read more

Found this place on Yelp... decided to give it a try because it was really close to home. Glad we gave it a shot because the food is solid. Just as good as going to Edison without the drive. The signature noodle dish was delicious. Broth was very flavorful, noodles were cooked great, and portion size was decent (although I could have done with more soup). Price was very reasonable. Seemed quite authentic compared to other places I've tried. Only complaint is that the chicken side dish was very small for the price. I expected a little more at comparable Chinese spots. Its a cool looking spot, with nice decor and exposed kitchen. Parking available as its in a strip lot. Theres a small cash discount. read more

Came here for lunch with the family. I am really surprised how authentic the food here is. I have not seen chongching noodle other than TikTok videos. I would not know where to go in Edison or Flushing queens for CC noods. We got the beef noodle soup as a safe and a dish we are familiar with. The cucumbers salad comes with peanuts so beware as we are now mindful for our little gremlin's allergy. I hate to compare this place to AJ's in East Hanover but I wish Yu makes the scallion pancakes with sliced braised beef. That's one of our favorite dish I think Yu can easily replicate. Service is quick and accommodating. I feel non Chinese people will have a difficult time enjoying the food here. Because they really can't compare the noodles soups to pho which has been trending for a while now. People will expect the dumplings at take out to be as good as it comes hot to the table especially for the soup dumplings. I really hope Garwood and the local community supports this place. The food is fresh, not greasy, service was great, takes credit cash unlike AJ, and the place is very clean. Also, there desserts is really good. I'm a sucker for sweet sticky rice and anything mango. Parking can be difficult and risky at the lot that is shared by CVS and Dunkin. The old people for the meds have limited time and the coffee addicts have no time to waste. read more

The service was great and attentive. The layout of the restaurant was nice though we ordered food to go. I ordered the fried rice and shrimp/pork dumplings. The fried rice was a bit mushy but okay and the "soup" dumplings were not great. There was no soup in the dumpling which was a disappointment. read more

Yu Noodles is a new addition to Garwood. This strip mall once had a hamburger joint and a salad place. Both have gone and now Yu Noodles takes up a large space in the middle. When taking over the owners made it a point to renovate the space. Everything from the tables to the lighting to the walls look new. Oddly, the decor is very...non-Asian in theme. There is some artwork featuring Old Skool Asian themed artwork, but other walls have framed pictures that look like they came from IKEA or something. Odd arches have been added to parts of the restaurant that look good, but more like they were meant for an Italian restaurant or perhaps a diner. All that said, the space is wide open and welcoming. You can also see into the kitchen which is a nice dramatic touch. My partner and I came late (about 40 minutes before closing) so the staff looked pretty tired, but that didn't stop them from being courteous and welcoming. We were seated quickly and in no time a waitress was taking our orders. Here is what we had: STICKY RICE SIOMAI (aka shiu mai) WITH PORK If you have been to the nearby Magic Grill, you may have had their dumplings. These are a smaller version of those, featuring sticky rice wrapped in a dumpling wrapper with some pork. These are significantly smaller than Magic Grill's but they are good. That said, Magic Grill's are a bit tastier. SESAME PASTE NOODLES WITH MINCED PORK This was a wonderful dish featuring noodles in a very savory sauce with pork and vegetables on top. Add on some of the hot chili oil at the table and it's absolutely delightful! CHICKEN LEG NOODLE SOUP This dish features noodles in a clear(ish) broth and roast chicken on the side with some vegetables. The broth is absolutely delicious with a wonderfully comforting flavor. Keeping the chicken separate is a good idea as it keeps its flavor from seeping out into the broth. I recommend making sure you have some broth, a piece of vegetable, some noodle and a piece of chicken in each bite. It's a wonderful combination. SHRIMP & PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS One of the most important aspects of a soup dumpling is structural integrity. Remember, there's a bit of soup inside the dumpling so you don't want the outer wrapper to break when you lift it up from the steamer. This happens more often than you may think. Fortunately I am happy to report this did not happen here! Even better? The dumpling has a wonderful chew and the pork and shrimp inside was delicious. Yu Noodles is fantastic and I recommend a visit. Enjoy! read more

What a nice addition to Garwood. Everything we had was quite yummy. The only thing is is that our server brought everything to our table in shifts. Our appetizer came after my meal and then my boyfriend's entree came out after that. I'm still giving them 5 stars because it all was so good. We will definitely be back and I'll most likely have my same order but we may change up to e appetizer. We also think it was a great deal. read more

Was really excited to try Yu Noodle as our area is devoid of great dumpling and noodle shops. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items, but unfortunately our food wasn't great. Of the 5 dishes we ordered only 2 were good, and 1 was a dessert. We ordered: 1. Chicken soup dumplings - C- dumplings were nicely shaped but not very juicy and fairly flavorless 2. Crystal shrimp dumplings - F - the shrimp was extremely fishy, almost tasted rancid. 3. Sticky rice shumai - D - Rice was very dry, gloppy, and the dish had an odd overall perfumey taste. 4. Marinated duck - B+ - this dish was good, duck was flavorful. 5. Black sticky rice with mango and coconut milk - A- - excellent dessert, just wish they gave us more mango. Sadly, we won't be returning to Yu Noodles. The dumpling house in Kenilworth is superior, comparatively. read more

Absolute love this restaurant so much great addition to the Garwood area. From the service to the food everything is just wonderful. Everytime I walk in I literally ask myself why more people aren't there? The dumplings are some of the best I've had which is surprising for the area but again, it's delicious. Wow!!! I am so glad we stopped by for a quick bite. Interesting flavor combos that can be added onto your order. The food even came with a complimentary egg and seaweed plate. The spring rolls were a good size. As someone who doesn't love soup dumplings, these were so yummy. Soup dumplings + spring rolls were enough to satisfy two people for a light lunch. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Great vibe in the restaurant, not super fancy but perfect for lunch or a a casual/nice dinner. I will be back here for a date night! Yu Noodles in Garwood - A Hidden Gem for Authentic Asian Cuisine! Yu Noodles in Garwood has quickly become one of my go-to spots for fantastic Asian food--and I couldn't be happier that it's so much closer than trekking to Edison! The service here is top-notch--warm, attentive, and always making sure everything is just right. The food? Absolutely excellent. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. From their rich, aromatic noodle soups to the perfectly cooked stir-fries, everything hit the spot. My kids especially loved their dumplings and Dim Sum selections--each bite was soft, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. This was my second visit, and I was excited to bring two other families along. Safe to say, everyone had an amazing time! The combination of great service, delicious food, and a convenient location makes Yu Noodles a true standout. We'll definitely be back for more! read more

This place needs to decide what it wants to be. They are serving all kinds of random food and I can't decide if this is Shanghainese or chongqing. The soy bean milk lacks any flavor and the noodles are just spicy but one dimensional. A hard pass! read more

The restaurant is bright and clean with plenty of seatings. I was confused by the menu and find street foods like tornado potatoes ‍，not sure what region of chinese food they are trying to represent. Then half of our foods came in cold. I thought maybe they served the rice cold because that was how it supposed to be done. Then I ordered my usual noodle soup and it was room temperature. No 1 chinese noodle soup rule, it must be served hot. I have nothing more to say. All food tastes bland to me. I have nothing reason to revisit. read more

I am so, so glad Yu Noodles opened! While there's plenty of Chinese takeout places in the area, there's been a dearth of authentic szechuan/dim sum food. I'm excited there's now a place with soup dumplings (xiao long bao), tasty szechuan beef noodle soup (decent amount of noodles, reasonably tender beef, and pickled radish), crystal shrimp dumplings (har gow), pan fried pork dumplings, scallion pancakes in the area! I don't have to drive to Parsipanny for this kind of food! Yu Noodles offers a variety of other dim sum food options that can be ordered for both lunch and dinner. We ordered this food to take home, but may just eat there sometime soon because there is plenty of seating in a sizeable space. And since it's in a strip mall, no need to worry about finding parking on the street. I look forward to coming back to try some of the other food on the menu! On a later visit, along w/soup dumplings and pan fried pork dumplings, got the Yibin spicy dry noodles with minced pork, as well as beef over rice with fried egg. The noodles were normal spicy level but because there were numbing spices, I could only get halfway through and will finish the other half for lunch later (also because it was a very large bowl of noodles). I might add that numbing spices are an acquired taste but very authentic to have in this dish. The beef dish didn't have enough beef and was too much rice, which my husband didn't finish. read more

I went for lunch and found everything very good. My first impression of the dining room was that it was spacious and very clean. We had a table at the booth and had a family with children to the right and a table for two on our left. There was plenty room to enjoy ourselves without feeling crowded. We had the scallion pancakes, pork soup dumplings, the beef noodle soup and a noodle dish that was pork without broth. Everything was delicious. The dumplings had a good amount of broth and the skin not too thick. The scallion pancakes were nicely thin and fried, not doughy. The beef soup noodles very tasty my only criticism is the beef portion was small. The beef was diced not sliced. Not as generous as the on line photo. The service was very attentive and friendly. I will definitely return with my family. read more

Soup dumplings were phenomenal, it's a beautiful space. The cucumber water and peanuts were a nice touch. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed everything I've had at this restaurant. If you're looking for typical Chinese food where you can get general tso's chicken, this is not the place.
