While in Brooklyn's Chinatown, we had lunch at Yozi Noodles. This spot offers a variety of Shanghainese fare, including soup dumplings, noodles in spicy and non-spicy soup, pan-fried dumplings, duck with glass noodles...etc. It's a modern, clean, and brightly lit eatery where you can pick a table, look over the menu, then order at the cashier. They give you a number, so the server can locate your table when the food is ready. ***OUR PICKS*** OSMANTHUS DUCK VERMICELLI NOODLE SOUP+STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS WITH CRAB (6 PCS) ~ Tender slices of duck in a flavorful broth. I found the noodles to be a bit overcooked. Though we were ok with that. The fried tofu gave an interesting texture to the overall dish. (XLB) The dumpling wrappers were just the right thickness. We don't like it very thick. The inside filling was seasoned well and had a balanced consistency, where it was neither too soft nor tough. And the wrappers did not break until we bit into the dumplings. 4/5 VERMICELLI NOODLE SOUP WITH FRIED TOFU ~ This looked like the other bowl without duck. The same noodles were used, so both bowls had very soft vermicelli noodles. A bowl of soup noodles almost always hits the spot for me, so I was content. 4/5 Affordable spot with generous portions of good food that won't break your wallet! Glad we got to try Yozi Noodles!

This restaurant is a chain with a few locations throughout the city. I have ordered delivery from this place multiple times and have dined in person. The food definitely tastes better in person. With the rising cost of food everywhere, this place is a steal! Cheapest and tastiest XLB in my opinion! My friend and I usually come here to dine in and we always get the regular XLB and the one with crab. The crab XLB is definitely better and you can actually taste the crab flavor. Another favorite of ours is the cilantro beef in spicy oil. Great flavor and delicious! I always get the honey chrysanthemum tea as well and it is so refreshing! I have ordered takeout from here and the food didn't taste the same. The dumplings were soggy and didn't taste as fresh in person. I have also ordered the frozen XLB to make at home and it just wasn't the same. This has become our new go-to place to dine in on 8th ave for a quick bite. As soon as you enter, you place your order at the cashier and find a seat and they'll bring the food to you. Tip is also optional! The restaurant is always clean and the staff is very nice! If you pay in cash, no tax will be added to your bill. We'll definitely be back to try the other items on the menu!

Jiangsu style noodle shop on the 8th Ave Brooklyn Chinatown. Went there for lunch on a weekday and it was pretty busy. Small shop that can sit 25-ish people. More or a modern interior with brighter colors and lights. You order and pay at the counter, get a tracker, pick an open table and they bring the food to you. Got the combo of xiaolongbao with the duck offal noodle soup. The duck soup has vermicelli noodles, and you get duck gizzard, blood jelly and liver pieces along with some Shanghai bokchoy and tofu puffs. Soup has a nice slightly creamy meat broth flavor. Relatively light, and the food goes down easy. I like gizzard and blood jelly. The pasty and iron-flavored liver is better eaten with some sauce. As for xiaolongbao soup dumplings, you get six per order. Tasted authentic with nice soup inside and decent skin and fillings. The combo was $16, which is pretty affordable for the amount and quality of food.

Was upset that 86th st location closed down but glad to have a place in 8th ave. The food is always good with large portions . It's self service so tips are optional . Order at the front and get a tag where they will bring you the food. Their duck vermicelli soup base and plain tofu is a hit or miss. I do enjoy their sauketrest fish . Booth seats make it comfortable and spacious.

I like this self serving restaurant. I was so easy, order at the door and find seatings. The hardest part was to find seatings. There are also extra seats at the lower level, but it's stuffy downstairs. The serves were extremely quick and the food came a few minutes after. Ordered the braised beef noodle soup and it was tasty with some mala flavor, the noodles were ramen and not hand pulled which I prefer hand pulled. The tofu puff vermicelli noodles had a nice broth and was simple. I really enjoyed the elasticity of the potato noodles. The soup dumplings were tasty and nice soup inside. I would come again for a simple and quick meal.

I'd say, 3.5 stars overall. You order in the front so there isn't really table service. There is a confusing self-serve area where there were small paper soup cups but not certain what they are for, as there isn't a water container. I had the beef noodle soup with tomato which was the overall highlight of the meal with great broth. The noodles were not as springy as I'd like, but the nice portion size almost makes up for it. The Xiao Long Bao and Potstickers were okay - not very memorable, but I believe it is because Northern Chinese cuisine doesn't have a lot of seasoning and spices as they could use a bit of ginger in the filling. Good value overall which nudges this to 4-stars. This restaurant isn't for your average American as the "highlight" is actually a dish with duck offal.

Sometimes, you just want a simple meal out without having a reservation nor having to wait for a table. It's been years since I last enjoyed meal on 8th Avenue. Fortunately, we chose the right place this time and enjoyed a fast casual meal as a family on a weekend evening after exploring several newer bakeries and the Molly Tea in the neighborhood. We opted for a combo of guihua duck vermicelli noodle soup and crab and pork xiao long baos, an order of shrimp and pork wontons, and spicy ma ma fish soup with white rice. After having already loaded up on bakery items along 8th Avenue, we didn't have any appetite for more food than what we ordered. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were great. I haven't had spicy fish soup in a while and enjoyed their version that tickled my tongue with a balance of numbness and spice. The duck vermicelli noodles were also delicious with a good amount of duck on top. The crab and pork xiao long baos exceeded my expectations. The overall service was quick and friendly. The overall space was clean and bright. I can already see myself stopping by again.

Nanjing Salted Chicken

Definitely a gem for soup dumplings in the area. The vermicelli broth was great--light, creamy, and pairs really well with the noodles. Their dry pots were surprisingly flavorful too, though I'd recommend getting extra spice. The plum juice might be an acquired taste, but I found it really refreshing.

Came here to try the duck noodle soup. Had a bowl with fried tofu and duck meat. It has the flavour of duck meat. Noodles are firm and fried when eaten out of the soup. Service was good and the place is well-organized. The store looks authentic with classic style.

When you walk in, you order in the front and take a number and the food will be delivered to you. The food comes out pretty quickly. The food is delicious. Pretty good deal with the soup dumplings. 6 for 6.95 which is pretty good for Brooklyn. The fried dumplings r delicious, the crisp at the bottom of the dumplings is my favorite part. There's a lot of seating in the restaurant. There is even a downstairs.

I love their soup dumplings and fried buns. They might not be the most flavorful, but they definitely have the most soup inside. The fried buns are literally bursting with hot soup. I also like adding their chili oil to everything for a little kick. I'm not a fan of their other dishes, but I always crave the soup dumplings and fried buns.

We arrived on a Saturday night around 6pm and it was packed; there were two parties ahead of us so we opted to put our name down and wait approximately 15-20, which I thought was pretty reasonable. They arrange the tables to optimize space for the following parties, so you might just get lucky with the seating arrangements. As most Chinese establishments, service was fast-paced, but we never felt rushed at any point of the meal despite the hustle and bustle. We ordered a few items for our party of 4 to share: 1. SCALLOP AND PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS: Surprisingly was a fan of this. There were big chunks of scallops in the meat. Gave the meat a bit of a bounce, but wasn't tough or chewy either. Normally would order crab at most soup dumpling spots, but scallop was new to me. Would get this again. 2. PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS: I commend them for an actual juicy and soupy filling. The pork was seasoned well and we had a whole spoonful of soup from each dumpling. The skin was a little thick for my liking. My judgment of soup dumpling is usually determined by the skin and this one didn't exactly meet the criteria. 3. FRIED WONTONS IN PEANUT AND HOT SAUCE: The star of the show! This was the dish that everyone seems to rave about and what we actually came for. The wontons were fried to a perfect crisp; they were actually crunchy and maintained that despite being dredged in sauce. I felt like there was a bit of a sugary caramelization to it, which balanced out the salty component of the dish. This whole dish encompassed every category in the flavor and texture department. 4. BEEF IN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE: I could've done without this tbh. There were a lot of onions in this, which I have no complaint about, but I wasn't trying to get my money's worth of onions here LOL. Black pepper sauce wasn't anything special either. I actually forgot that it was black pepper sauce because it wasn't peppery enough. 5. SHANGHAI RICE CAKES: The rice cakes had a pleasant chew to it and the sauce coated it evenly. I wish the rice cakes had a little more char to it so it would be more fragrant. Good, but not life changing. Overall a pleasant experience and certainly met expectations. There were some dishes that I liked more than others and some that I could do without. Probs wouldn't make the trip here frequently, but the wontons are definitely worth the trip!
