I used to really enjoy Young Young Buffet, but unfortunately, tonight's experience was extremely disappointing. It was obvious that much of the food had been sitting out for a long time. The breaded shrimp was incredibly hard, almost like biting into concrete. The dumplings were hard and stale, the lo mein had a musty, spoiled taste, and even the Chinese donuts were crunchy and stale. On top of that, many of the food options were nearly empty and had clearly not been replenished. The host was also terrible, very unwelcoming and not at all attentive, which made an already disappointing experience even worse. I'm disappointed because this place used to be good, but based on my experience tonight, I can't recommend it. Hopefully management takes a serious look at the food quality, freshness, and customer service. read more

Terrible. Do not eat here. The food was either dried out and stale from sitting out for so long or tasted genuinely rotten. The waitress was unkempt and constantly yelling to the kitchen even when clearing plates from our table. She also picked pieces of food out of the pans being served to customers with her bare hands and ate it right there. Guess an upgraded interior can't buy class or decent food. I will definitely not be returning. read more

Went here for lunch with my wife and we were not impressed to say the least. Food seemed old, and a few dishes tasted sour. The cooked shrimp was cold and hard, cold shrimp seemed old. Only good thing I had was the fried rice.. Fried chicken wings were hit or miss with the temperature, wasn't anything to remember that's for sure. I'd rather go to Pacific Grill.. read more

Need more variety of dishes besides just pork also need to clean their soda machine no heat all the heaters returned on for the cashier not for the customers who had to eat in the cold makes no sense but a cheap and quick meal I would pick up the go not stay in read more

The food was delicious! The restaurant was very clean and the attendants were helpful! I loved the won ton soup and coconut shrimp specifically! The food was all really tasty. My 4 year old ate really well too which can be really hit or miss. Great value for about $10 per person read more

Definitely recommend checking out the newly remodeled location. The food was fresh staff was nice and helpful the restaurant was clean and looked great everything has good flavor and we love this buffet !! read more

A smaller selection allows for more quality of items. I recommend the black pepper chicken and the crab ragoons. Nice low light setting.

Foods are horrible !!! Don't go there ! Food aren't fresh. Not many varieties. There are many places out there!

Don't pay attention to the last review I been here a handful of times enjoy it every time fresh food and they will make more on request all the chicken fish shrimp selections are pretty good and they have many other options too and noddles always good too haha check it out super nice people ! read more

I was visiting relatives from out of town, and we had food from here twice and it was absolutely excellent. I wish we had something like this closer to where I live.! read more

First time coming and, although, my first impression was not that good, because they lacked selection compared to the bigger chain buffets, the food was good and the amount was enough to leave on a full stomach with a lower bill. They have all the common foods at buffets; fried rice, lo mein, tso's chicken, sweet chicken, dumplings, desserts, ice cream, chicken and broccoli/steak, etc. These reg buffets cost $20, and I only can eat 1 plate of food, while it cost me only $13 and some change at this place. I would come here again for sure :) The $20 bill at other buffets is reason why I stopped going to buffets in first place. read more

I've been coming here for 15 years on/off. Best value for a Chinese buffet in the area. I like it the most out of all the area buffets for a number of reasons. 1. The buffet isn't too big. It's got all of the popular Chinese dishes that we all know and then some. You're not paying $15 for a buffet full of crap food. You're paying $7 to $9 (depending on time of day) for an all-you-can-eat of essentially decent take out Chinese food. 2. The soft serve ice cream is as good as many ice cream places and is included. 3. The place was recently remodeled and nicely re-done. A few tips! When you first get there, if a dish looks like it's been sitting out a while, take a tiny bit only then sit down. The staff tends to watch what you take and then goes to make a fresh batch the second they see you take it. So just a few minutes later there's a fresh dish of whatever you wanted. Be wary of some of the fruits and desserts. If there's one questionable thing about this place it's those dishes. Not the ice cream though - it's really good! read more

Back in high school, I used to come here with friends before movies because it was cheap and the food was reliably decent. Either my standards were lower back then or the food's gotten worse, because I returned for the first time in many years on a weekday around noon, and the food was pretty mediocre. I grabbed some stuff to go from the buffet since I was in a rush, and pickings were slim. There was a bunch of stir-fries that all looked very similar (and tasted very similar too), your standard buffet mainstays, as well as some fried odds and ends, including fried dumplings. After trying most of the dishes, I couldn't really tell you what I ate since they all tasted the same. In addition, they all tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. The General Tso's chicken was not crispy at all. I wouldn't have been so disappointed if the food was dirt cheap, but prices for takeout were about the same as they are at other Chinese buffets in CT, and this buffet is much smaller. To their credit, they did remodel the place and it looks much nicer than it did back in my high school days, but I just wish I had enjoyed the food more. Sadly, I won't be coming back. read more

Young young buffet has always been good!! I have gone to this restaurant for over 30 years. Yes 30 years!!! I have taken my daughter here sense she was 2 years old, now 23 she still loves this place. I have never had a bad meal , never felt funny after eating here over 39 years , that is a great record. read more

Young-Young Chinese Buffet - Fried shrimp - Chinese Near Me - Milldale, Connecticut

Adequate food. Definitely a place we will not order from again. Wonton soup was very greasy.

Doesn't have any food that they advertised. They were supposed to have Sushi but after we had gotten some food from their little buffet, we were waiting for them to bring the sushi out as it was dinner time. Then they said oh no we don't have sushi today. WHAT? That's why we came to eat here. Be responsible, make sure you post that information on your door and online. Very disappointed as it was my daughter request for her birthday dinner. read more

I stopped in to get the buffet for takeout. I was not impressed with what was on the buffet, but what caused me to give a one-star review was the person that came out of the kitchen with no shirt on. He came out and said something to one of the other workers and then headed back in the kitchen. Needless to say I will never be back. read more

Food wasn't bad at all a nice little cozy spot. We were staying at a hotel down the street that isn't far

Definitely a hole in the wall. The people here offer a warm welcome, which you don't really get at other buffets. The food here is delicious. I haven't been to an authentic Chinese buffet in awhile since I moved back to CT. ( Since having food every night in Boston's china town restaurants) This food definitely compares and I will definitely come back. I hope anyone who goes appreciates the hospitality as much as I did. read more

They took my order said it would be about 25 minutes for delivery I waited an hour and a half I kept calling them and they kept saying it's on the way when he finally got here he told me that he had to make for other deliveries before mine my food needless to say was cold and they forgot two items this is the third time I've ordered from this place and it's definitely the last you tried calling and explaining to them and it's like they pretend they don't speak English and they're rude AF read more

The McDonald's of Chinese Buffets. The food is barely palatable, the options are limited, the servingware is all paper/plastic/styrofoam, and the soda is self-serve. Sound familiar? But ya know, it's cheap. With tax, your total will come to $9.10 for dinner, soda included. And seeing as how no one really waits your table (for the aforementioned reasons), I don't really see a need to leave a tip... I did leave one because I was feeling nice. Anyway, there's a few decent things. The fried shrimp and pork lo mein were pretty good. And there's free ice cream, which was surprisingly high quality. Just one beef - most places let you take your ice cream to go, but for some inexplicable reason, Young-Young mandates that you not take ice cream out of the restaurant unless you pay for it. Silly. It was meh, passable, okay, fine, decent. I didn't pay much, and I don't feel sick beyond the abdominal stress normally associated with overstuffing one's gullet. read more

I love Chinese buffets. Like, so much to the point where I wish one of them could cater my wedding. But this one was not good. There were very limited options and the flavors were all very strange. On a positive note, the employees were very nice, and the cost was great: only $9.50 for all I could eat. read more

It's a shame. This use to be my family, my friends and myself's go to Chinese place since I was a small child. I would go almost every weekend with friends in middle school and high school. Years later...I've ordered from them twice in the past year and I have been so utterly disappointed no flavor and incredibly more greasy then it should be for Chinese food (yes ik it can be greasy this was just not okay) I'm sad I don't have a reliable Chinese place anymore read more

For a so called buffet it doesn't have variety of foods and it cold . I will not be going again

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! Our top 3 Chinese food places have been closed for over a month due to COVID quarantining. We were craving Chinese food & happy to find a local Chinese place open. We ordered apx $50 for delivery. It was the most disgusting Chinese food we've ever had! My daughter's shrimp was not actual pieces of shrimp.... it was minced up shrimp, mixed with flour then fried into strange shrimp "balls". My son's General Tsos Chicken tasted like it was sprayed with cleaning chemicals. I decided to order what I'd call a "safe bet", sweet & sour shrimp. It tasted OK, even though I wasn't a fan of the tails being left on. Then with only 2 shrimp left I took a bite & saw Young Young doesn't even bother cleaning their shrimp! Never ever have I ever, eaten shrimp at a restaurant where the waste wasn't cleaned out ... I almost vomited! Needless to say, we threw away most of our food. None of it was edible, besides the filthy shrimp, I mistakenly ate since they were hidden underneath flour. We will never eat here again, even if it was the last restaurant in the world. This place should be closed down! Honestly again... ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING FOOD!!! read more

I'm at a new job in Cheshire, searching for a good Chinese spot with good reviews for lunch. The first spot I called didn't answer, so I settle for this spot. Soon as I get there, I had a gut feeling thi places food wasn't going to be any good. Sure enough, I order a general tos chicken lunch special.. lady comes out with what looks like 50$ in food. Long story short.. it was a large order of house fried rice, large general tos chicken... smelled horrible, big chucks of chicken in the rice, usually not a bad thing but from this place no way. Ate 4 bites, threw it out the window. #respectfully read more

We pulled into the parking lot and initially thought, "--do we really want to be here?" The outside isn't very appealing, and there weren't many cars for a Saturday, but we had decided to give it a chance. Upon walking in though, we were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, smelled fantastic, and the food in the buffet was all fresh and brought out promptly. There were not many people in there, but a nice quiet lunch was just what we needed. The waitstaff was very friendly, organized, and quickly offered drink refills and whatever else we had needed. Also, I really like how the waitstaff didn't "hover". Especially on a day that they didn't have too many people, --they weren't standing in a corner somewhere waiting for the opportune moment to "serve you" LOL. The buffet area was clean, and the food was delicious! Just what our family needed. We will be coming back again. read more

Very good entertainment and drinks, but food tastes like plastic and there are not many options. Ice cream is very good. The only things that are good in this restaurant are the things that are store bought. Will NOT be coming back. read more

Another reviewer that has no idea why people think this place is so bad ???? It's not ! The pros; First off, the owners are very polite and friendly, and always give me extra fortune cookies at the end of a order when i do take out. The food is great, not super high quality $40.00 meal ticket type stuff, but it's decently priced and they have a good selection. For two people you pay $20.10 for sit down, and when I do take out here (again for two people) I think I've only been paying about $11.50 for 2 LBS OF FOOD. THAT IS AMAZING. I highly reccomend the barbecue chicken, rice noodles with little shrimps, and broccoli and chicken. The beef covered shrimp is also great. Their desserts are also great ! The ice cream machine is a bonus, and it's actually delicious and B+ quality :) Try their cake or jello as well ! The only con; I do agree that there should maybe be a tofu and/or vegetarian based dish here, but they DO have delicious broccoli and green beans. read more

We have been getting takeout from Young Young from the day it opened and loved it. We had read on Southington talks how the quality of food is not the same but decided to place an order anyway. We ordered three meals, pork lo mein and three appetizers costing $46. It was a take-out order and when my husband got home with it we realized two dinners were not what we ordered. I called the restaurant and explain the error. I asked them if they could please deliver the two correct meals and I would give them the incorrect ones. I said normally I would bring them back but our appetizers would get cold. The woman went and spoke to someone and came back stating if they brought the two meals I would have to pay for one of them. I asked why would I have to pay for one when all they would be doing is replacing the two wrong meals. She just kept insisting we had to pay for one to which I must admit I got upset raised my voice. I finally told her to forget about it and we would never order there again. A while later the owner called us...His name appeared on our caller ID as "Dr" He said they would replace the meals if we just brought them down At this point we had had it! I told him we are keeping the meals but never ordering from there again especially since Zengs is just as close with comparable prices and better food. The food was not as good as people stated and the handling of this matter was terrible! They have lost business from two families who were longtime customers. read more

The dishes are constantly being refreshed at the buffet, the food is tasty, the service is decent and the price is right (only about $17 for two.) What more can I ask for? WHO CARES if the plates and cups are made from styrofoam and the silverware is plastic. They do that to keep the cost of the buffet cheap...so I encourage them to keep on doing that. read more

It's a small and low-profile buffet, but the food taste GOOD! Normally we go to buffet for quantity, but here it focuses on QUALITY. While the selection is limited without much beef and no sushi, they do have shrimp and each dish tastes great! Even in the eyes of a Chinese. It's very much like homemade food. By the way, the ice cream is good too! read more

I've been living in NYC for two years, and I have yet to find a chinese restaurant as wonderful as Young-Young. The restaurant has such affordable combination dinners priced around $6-7 (that come with fried rice and egg roll). Add some soup for $2.50 and I'm set for the night - and lunch tomorrow. The buffet is also super affordable. Headed over to lunch and it was $6.50 - including drink and dessert! The food is delicious and as many times a I come to the buffett, I still get full on soup, egg rolls and lo mein before heading over to the entree side. read more

One star is generous!!!! This places food was over priced for a dark dank hole in the way dive of a restaurant... And the food was terrible! Ice cold, dry and flavorless! 22$ for two people at lunch time. So bad we left and went over to the pizzeria in the same plaza @ half the cost and hot fresh tasty food. So annoyed I wasted 22$ I could have put gas in my car instead! read more
