We frequent (maybe once every 2-3 months or so) this takeout to get our Chinese fix when we've run out of ideas or didn't cook at home. Their bbq ribs (with bone) are better than most takeouts I've tried and our order always have them, beef fried rice, chicken meifun, hot&sour soup, and either a roast pork with mix vegetables or a beef hunan type of dish. They always give us either egg rolls or crab ragoons with our order. The food is always consistent in taste and the great thing is we always have leftovers which the kids have the next day. One of their favorites is to have the chicken meifun ( really thin noodles) in a bowl mixed with the hot&sour soup. The food at China Moon good and it serves up the best Chinese food Ive tasted in Cheshire. The food seems much lighter and healthier than other Chinese places. I like that they deliver and the food always arrives hot. The restaurant in the same plaza as Cheshire pizza off of route 10. Everyone who works there is friendly and nice. Check it out. The 5-star rating should be taken in comparison to other similar take out Chinese restaurants. The food was by far better than any other take out I've had in the memorable past. We had a variety including boneless ribs, pan fried chicken dumplings, shrimp dumplings, subgum wonton, house fried brown rice, and chicken chow fun. The chicken dumplings were given to us for free and were excellent. The sauce was not your typical brown sauce. It was more citrus. The shrimp dumplings I haven't seen available anywhere other than in dim sum-a rice based wrapper with big pieces of shrimp in each. No need to go into detail on each dish. I was craving Chinese tonight but my trusty spot in town had recently burned down. :( so I yelped other close by spots and came across good reviews for this place. Gave it a go and it was great! Called in the order of spicy general tso chicken, though he had an accent, he was easy to understand. Opened the door to a man with a huge smile standing in a very clean kitchen. He had told me 10 mins and it was ready before I got there. (Drive around to the back of the building for main entrance) convenient location on route 10. Got home and dug in. I really love their service and their food. They are not overly greasy or oily and everything tastes very good. They have the best dumplings in town for sure. Only reason it's not a 5 star review is because the General Tso's lacks the crisp/crunch that another take out place provides. Personally, I prefer the little bit of crispness in my General Tso's, but I do know that some people love the classic, softer version that China Moon produces. Finally a really GOOD tasting "generic" chinese restaurant. You know the type of place- pictures of the menu above the counter , lots of free mustard and soy sauce packets.. What impressed me about China moon was how friendly the staff was, how nice and clean the kitchen looked, and how tasty the actual food is. Among chinese takeout in the area, this is clearly tops. Even simple staple dishes (pork fried dumplings, chicken and broccoli, beef lo mein) all were cooked well, not greasy, very satisfying. Low prices and delivery seal the deal. This Chinese food is PHENOMENAL. Soo fresh, so tasty, and clearly made right there. It's not even been a week since first trying it... and we've gone three times since. The only time I've had anything even remotely close to this level of tastiness was in my friend's own kitchen. I'm a huge fan of the scallion pancakes (which I rarely find at any Chinese takeout place), and the DUMPLINGS, oh my god the dumplings. I can't speak to the meat ones, but the veggie dumplings are outta this world good. Soft and doughy, with that slight pan-fried crisp and perfectly seasoned filling. Besides those two standouts, we've also highly enjoyed their tofu, flaky crab rangoon, and the garlic sauce. Honestly, going by everything I've had in less than a week, I imagine you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Also, I asked if they deliver, and they said no, so maybe the person who gave a bad review about delivery reviewed the wrong place. When going to a place like this you don't expect the highest quality. However, even then, this place seems to perform under par. I've tried the general tso's, spare ribs with bone, and chicken lo mein. The general tso's was soft and with too much batter, and the chicken in the lo mein had a rubbery texture. I don't know who's writing the reviews for this place. I would equate the food here to Panda Express. On a 1-10 scale, the food is like a 4 or 5. Apparently, people in this area have no clue how good Chinese food is supposed to taste and how it should look. We ordered a Pu Pu platter, special rice and egg Fu yung. The egg rolls were burnt, the crab rangoons were like wrapped rocks, the shrimp toast was burnt, the rice was like plain white rice with shrimp. I took Chinese cooking classes years ago, and made and cooked all these items myself. It's easy to do, there's just zero love in the food here. I don't care if they give you a free rangoon, they are the same as eating a rock, anyways. The place was empty and they couldn't fry their food right! This is my go-to place for Chinese food. We've gotten many dishes from here and have been pleased with all of them. They fill that Chinese food craving with quality. It isn't the highest quality Chinese food I've ever had BUT it is the best option in town - and I'd even say in the surrounding towns too. An added bonus: if you live in town and it's an off peak time they will deliver! Just be prepared to wait a bit. They do prefer cash, but I've never run into problems using my card. I've tried the wonton soup, general tso's chicken, chicken fried rice, shrimp fried rice, lo mein, beef with mushrooms, crab rangoons... it's all good. I think they have coupons in their menu. We had our meal delivered and it took 1 hour and 45 minutes to arrive. On the positive side it was piping hot. The egg drop soup was pretty good and my husband said his hot and sour soup was very good. He also enjoyed his moo shu chicken. My extreme disgust was with my entree. My daughter and I were sharing a large chicken lomein. The portion was quite large but the quality of the chicken was not great and my daughter found a fly that was not quite dead in her lomein. I would not recommend the sweet and sour chicken because it was over cooked. (Although this may have simply been a one-time mistake.) By far the most rude and absurd phone call I've ever had with a restaurant. I called and asked for an order to be delivered... Because it says they deliver. They let me get through the entire order and I asked them to take my card number. They told me they'd really "prefer" cash. I said I didn't have any on me. They then told me that my $21.90 order Was under the $25 minimum. I told them that is not posted on their website. He said they "don't have to post everything on their website." Already annoyed, I said fine just add another Snapple on there and that should bring it up to almost $25. He then told me the driver refused to deliver because it was a few cents shy of their COMPLETELY FABRICATED minimum delivery charge. Don't waste your time with these rude, inconsiderate people. I really wanted to try a new Chinese delivery place because my belonged Ting Ho stopped delivering. I'm beyond frustrated; I placed an order 1.5 hours ago, live 3.5 miles and would pickup but I have a 4 month old. I've called them 3x because no one had the decency to call me to advise; my second call to them after the first hour required them re-writing my address. My card has been charged at this point and we are heading into the 2 hour mark as I write this review. The customer service alone is a joke- a woman who first took my order, stated she got busy and forgot my order and that her brother is somewhere but might be lost. Can't even tell you how the food tastes, I won't be surprised if it's cold- this review is just service/delivery based. I will never order from here again... read more
