I've been ordering here for years. It is close by work and the service is always good. People have stated it changes over the years but in my opinion it is still good. The food is always good and I like their sesame chicken the best! The sauce they use for the sesame chicken is always good, it's not too sweet. There is no more seating I the restaurant since Covid. But the place seems clean. I like that they have a table set up for all the sauces that is needed. Some Chinese places either give you too little sauces or too much. I stoped in to the New Great Wall for lunch today, and was told they were under new ownership for the past three years. I ordered the General Tao's Chicken luncheon special. I could not believe the size of the portion. I always finish my meal, and this was the first time I was too full to finish. The chicken, and pork fried rice with broccoli was delicious. Here is why I didn't give them a five star rating. When I walked in at their one and only table that they have, was I women, a teenage boy, and girl. The girl got up from the table, took my order, and said it would ready in 10 minutes. As I was a waiting for my order I notice there was no one in the kitchen cooking. After about four minutes the women at the table playing with her phone decided to get up, and start my order. It would have been nice if the customer came before playing on her phone, and they left their one and only table open for a customer to use. read more

I had passed by this place countless times and never knew it was there. One day while passing, I saw a sign out front by the road: "New Great Wall." I may have misinterpreted the sign, as it was the first time I'd seen it, I assumed the restaurant itself was Great Wall and the sign was simply advertising the "new" restaurant. Believing it to be a new restaurant, I figured it may not even be open yet. Each time I drove by, I saw cars at the bar and/or pizza place out front but didn't see a Chinese food place. One day I decided to pull in to investigate. I found the place easily enough, but that particular Friday, there was a line out side stretching halfway down the building and no empty parking spaces. I turned around and left. A couple weeks later, I was determined to get some food from this place. I called ahead and placed my order. I found a parking spot, amd the food was ready by the time I arrived at the door. The food was good. I liked the General Tso's tofu, but wasn't especially crazy about the Szechuan tofu. I've realized that I much prefer the breaded, fried, crispy tofu in the Szechuan dish, as opposed to the soft, squishy tofu that some places serve. They serve the soft, squishy Szechuan tofu here. The taste is great but the texture isn't there. I've been to New Great Wall twice now, but considering that there are 5 Chinese restaurants on my route from work to home (and another 3 within a mile of that route), I probably won't be going to New Great Wall very often. read more

You can however find the menu at All Menus, but the prices listed are out of date as I ordered the Pork w/ Broccoli combo and the All Menu price was $8 but I got there and it's actually $10.55. w/tax $11.33. My food was better than both Pagotta and SIng Hee who's pork is dried out sliced tenderloin that is over cooked. They use the same kind of pork strips as the Chinese Spare Ribs at most other places. The sauce was darker and thicker than most others, the Fried Rice was good. And the Egg Rolls were decidedly better than the others as well. But the next day I still had a taste in my mouth, that reminded me of eating something full of MSG or some other flavor enhancer. Gave it 3 stars but it's really a 2.5. Both Pagotta and Sing Hee are 2 stars but could be 1.5's. Both have really deteriorated since the Pandemic and Bidenomics . read more

A great lace for pick up of Chinese food. It's actually enhanced to appeal to our american tastes. We ordered orange chicken ( fantastic) , sizihwan beef also fantastic and several other dishes, too much food for 5 of us. The bill came to less than $60 which was just an added benefit. This place was extremely busy for a Thursday evening. There must have been at least 6 people, myself included, waiting to get our take-out orders. They really could use a little more help at the front counter as the gentleman was trying to bag prepared orders, ring up waiting customers, and answer phone calls for more orders. But putting all of that aside and getting to the food... I ordered two egg rolls, pork fried rice, chicken lo mein and beef and broccoli which ended up being more than enough for two people. Been going here for years. The quality of the food has significantly declined within the last year or so. Today I had the worst chicken and broccoli lunch I have ever eaten. Horrible. The chicken was mushy and had a wierd texture. It made me question if it even was chicken. O threw it away it was so bad. My advice is to go somewhere else. read more

I recently made this my go to Chinese restaurant. The family who owns it is great. The portions are sizeable and the food normally excellent. I was driving home with an order a few days ago, and was overwhelmed by the smell of mildew coming from the bags. When I unpacked my food, the paper bag reeked of mildew. This was highly unusual, especially since the food from here has always been high quality. I tossed the bag and dove into my soup. It tasted of mold. I threw it away and tried the rice and my entree. The rice smelled and tasted moldy and the water chestnuts in my chicken tasted like mold. I was extremely disappointed. I may not go back. Over 30.00 of food ended up in the trash. I Believed you, Elite Yelpers but you are wrong. My first time here I ordered House Lo Mein and General Tsos, $18 and it was ready on time for me to take home. First, the Lo Mein was pretty good, a bit dry but tasty enough. The General Tsos was a mound of "popcorn" chicken that turned out to be chewy bits of chicken buried in batter. The dish had onion and sweet pepper slices that reflected the taste of the sauce-no heat at all and not a chili to be found. There were a few pieces of broccoli steeped in that sweet sauce and cooked past crisp by the chicken that covered them. Never got to the rice, it wouldn't help the rest of the dish. I put it in the fridge but I doubt it will improve enough to avoid being tossed tomorrow. read more

I'm from California and have had pretty much every kind of Asian food you can have, homemade, homestyle, fusion, etc. Believe me when I say this place is family owned, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend it more highly. They're more commonly known for takeout, as the interior only seats 4 small parties. I ordered the T1 special (pork fried rice, 2 beef teriyaki skewers, 2 egg rolls, and a helluva lot of sweet and sour chicken), which contained more food than I thought possible for only $10. read more

They play all your favorite hits - sweet and sour chicken, boneless spare ribs, egg drop soup, pork fried rice... what else could you ask for?? I ate here for the first time last week and loved it... boneless spare rib combo with pork fried rice and an egg role - all of it on-point and delicious. My fiance got fried dumplings and a veggie soup but she hated it. That's literally the only reason this is 4 stars and not 5 - I will only come back here as long as I live in this area, however it's going to take some coaxing to get her back on board. Meh. We ordered delivery on a Sunday afternoon, which was nice and quick - but the food itself leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered chicken with broccoli for my husband and chicken in garlic sauce for me. The chicken in garlic sauce was supposed to be spicy - it was not. It lacked in flavor on all levels. I tried my husband's dish and realized they tasted the same, except mine had some green peppers and mushrooms in it and his had broccoli. I was very pleasantly surprised by both the quality and value of my first time ordering food at The New Great Wall. I called ahead which was a good thing considering there are only two very small tables in the restaurant. My order was hot and ready upon arrival. The gent behind the counter was very friendly and when I asked if they deliver, he said yes, but call first to be sure they have someone on hand to do it. Fair enough. My meal was very, very good, and not at all salty like you can find in many Asian restaurants I've had food from. The chicken rice soup was just that; a flavorful broth, with a decent amount of chicken and lots of rice. The shrimp with vegetables was a very generous portion with a good amount of shrimp and plenty of clearly fresh, crunchy-cooked vegetables, also not salty. It came with a good portion of sticky white rice. The other part of my order was their "house special fried rice". Again, very well prepared and flavorful, with shrimp, pork, chicken, and veggies in it. I'll be certain to return or have delivery next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food. Our favorite Chinese restaurant in North Haven. We drive all the way from the Ridge Rd side just to get take out as its so great and well worth it. The egg rolls are great. We love the wonton soup, fried dumplings, chicken lo mein, and general tsos. You can't go wrong here.
