It is not easy to pick up from - access from the street has gotten more difficult with the street last traffic pattern changes. The pork fried rice bland, Pork lo mein was ehh and the egg foo young if the gravy wasn't included it would just be an egg with pork. Very little onions. So disappointing. One of the best Chinese food around town. I never had an issue with them or my order. When I ask for delivery it is usually here 30-40 mins from when I order. Picking up can be a bit difficult if you can't find parking. I usually have to drive in to parking lot near the Lions Den to pick up my food. Tonight I ordered the Singapore mei fun, boneless spare ribs, chicken wings, fried dumplings, chicken with mix vegetables and fried rice. Everything was delicious. The mei fun was packed in the container. The ribs were tender and savory. The vegetables were fresh and there was a good amount of chicken in it. The dumplings, chicken wings and fried rice were standard but good. Great place to get food when you're too lazy to cook. read more

My wife and I wanted to try a different restaurant for Chinese food and we were glad we did. I looked Yi Hing up online to look at their menu and found out that we could conveniently order online too. We ordered for Pick Up but just as easily could have ordered for delivery with just the push of a button. My wife ordered an egg roll, wonton soup, and Happy Family. I ordered an egg roll, hot & sour soup, and Dragon meets Phoenix. We were given the opportunity to save our login information which I did not but probably should have. We will be going back. My wife enjoyed everything. She remarked that the egg roll was not just a crunchy mess. It was stuffed, and flavorful. We were able to bite into it without it disintegrating in our hands. Both our soups were good. Full of flavor, and not too salty. My Hot & Sour soup was loaded and had just the right amount of spice. Both our entrees were massive. We had enough for two meals each. My wife was pleased with the taste, size of the seafood, and amount of food. I was impressed with the amount of food, the flavor was good with nothing overpowering. The Dragon didn't beat up on the Phoenix. My wife remarked later in the evening that she was not thirsty as she is after eating the food from so many other Chinese restaurants. Four stars for now, until we try more of their tempting offerings. We'll be back. read more

Feeling adventurous I tried a new restaurant tonight. My local Chinese food is just not been up to my standards and wanted to branch out. This did NOT disappoint, some new flavors and new spices definitely the reset that I needed. Fresh Vegetables in the egg foo young and also the low main. beef teriyaki tasted delicious according to the boys. The Chicken with garlic sauce was not overly spiced it did come exactly the way I ordered. The sweet and sour chicken was not soggy and sauce was on the side just like I asked for. I give this place a solid 4. It was delivered so I don't have much to say about the restaurant it's self but It came HOT and very well packaged. I would go back here again, if you haven't tried it worth a shot!! read more

I'm new to the area and found yi hing to be the best Chinese food in southington. It's your standard Americanized Chinese food menu with lots to choose from. Inside, the kitchen is enclosed in clear plexiglass, presumably Covid prevention related. It's a little hard to hear the cashier through the window but maybe that's my age showing. Parking is a bit of an inconvenience. If you're looking for ambiance during your meal, this is not the place. I highly recommend yi hing for great takeout. read more

I don't like to leave a bad review, but ordering from Yi Hing for the third disappointing time demanded it. The food was, in a word, inedible. Case in point: Moo Shoo Pork. Consisting of only cabbage and old dried up roasted pork and swimming in so much liquid that it leaked and destroyed the bag it was delivered in, it showed how careless the 'chef' was. It was so oversauced and loaded with soy sauce it was, as I say, inedible. The egg rolls were so-so, but a large order of Egg Drop Soup was so thin and tasteless it was compared to dishwater. An order of Fried Dumplings was a gummy mess of dough and within a rubbery, tasteless mass of unpleasant meat. I will never order from them again. As I said, this was the third time I took a chance on this place and each time I was disgusted by what they sent. For a hundred-dollar loss it's a bitter lesson but one well-learned. read more

Yi Hing became my go to source for Chinese takeout at the start of the pandemic, though I have almost always picked-up rather than use delivery. I have ordered from them many times and I have never been disappointed. The ingredients taste fresh and crispy (when they should,) the quantities are generous, and the menu has good variety. read more

Placed an order for pick up and it was ready quickly (15mins). Ordered fried wontons, Pork egg rolls, pork fried rice, roast pork with veggies and chicken with snow peas. Roast pork had a great variety of veggies; the pork was tender and delicious. Nice sauce and a generous portion. Chicken with snow peas contained lots of snow peas--which I was most pleased about as a lot of places tend to skimp on this vegetable. Also a great looking and tasting sauce and the portion was generous-even for a pint! Both the pork and chicken came with white rice. And of course I was given fortune cookies-a must when having Chinese takeout. I most definitely enjoyed the meal and fast service. I will be back! read more

Okay food BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Ordered a few items and also three egg rolls. Driver arrived with TWO. Not a big deal right? WRONG. I call inform them I am missing an egg roll only to be told she KNOWS she included three. I say she didn't and she said she would credit my account for the egg roll. Fair enough. Next time I order I ask for an egg roll to be added as they forgot last time and I had a credit. She tells me there is no credit on my account and she remembers the incident happening but for a different customer. Now we are only talking a few bucks but it's the principle of the whole thing. So I am updating my review to 4 stars, went in today (cash in hand) and ordered Won Ton soup and Lo Mein. The noodles in the soup were 100% better, not soggy, didn't seem to be swimming all day (it was lunch time on Sunday) The Lo mein, which also had some soggy noodles last time was greatly improved!! I havent got yi hing in a while. I was a hong kong kitchen man for a while; once they started to go downhill, i gave yi hing another shot. The place was pretty clean and is supposedly "top 100" in overall excellence in america. I dont know if i believe that, but the food was really good. i was impressed with the changes since last time i ate there back in 09. The only reason why I didnt rate it higher was because they are very stingy with the sauces, give you dirty looks, and are very rude. In fact I dont think ever in my life have I gone to a chinese restaurant anywhere and the workers werent rude as hell and seem pissed off to serve me. But whatever,...anyway the food was good and ill be going back in the future, til of course it goes on a downward spiral again and ill give hong kong kitchen another shot. read more

This is the only Chinese food restaurant we order from. It's very tasty food and consistently good. However, I do wish they would add a bit of garlic to their Chow Mein because it's a bit bland. I love the chow mein from Butterfly on Farmington Ave, in West Hartford. There is a hint of garlic in it and adds so much to the flavor. I have a favorite place in my hometown of Plainville, as well as in Forestville where I lived for 8 years. OTHER than the crab rangoon at Yi Hing, I have been continually impressed, enough to supplant both. We have ordered many times, and maybe 1.5 times had a negative experience. (one time whole order was stale tasting (likely an oil issue in the fryer that night, other time my twice cooked pork was gristle and tough, which it NEVER is) Other than that, the food has been consistently great. This place has made me forget my yearning for my other places. The twice cooked pork is amazing. The Moo Shu is better. The veggies are fresh, full, and ACTUAL asian fare. Bok Choy, bean sprouts, wood ear shrooms, etc. Other places seem to think only peas and carrots is ok.. NO! Lastly, everything is over-filled, unlike some competition. No half full containers here. The not so good. I own a small business. Credit/debit cards are expensive to take. Many people don't realize that the "rewards" aren't a courtesy of the card company. No, us merchants pay for it. I understand that this place stays busy enough to not need to bend on this, but it is 2015. People don't carry cash. If they took cards, we'd order weekly instead of 1 or 2x a month. The place is busy. Expect an hour on deliveries,even on a weeknight. Maybe they could hire another driver if they take cards Not sure. Lastly, my usual favorite of any other place, crab rangoon. They have the small pouch version, likely store made. Instead of the creamier, sweeter filling, they do a blander, chunky, not sweet filling. I tried, and do not like it. If the other food was any worse it may be a deal breaker. I understand that this is subjective, and others may prefer it. Not for me. Maybe the one case where I prefer the over-Americanized version. Reading over these reviews I decided to place an order for delivery. For starters it took an hour to get here and an hour wait for excellent food would be acceptable but only for excellent food... Having said that this food was mediocre at very best. The rice was under cooked the veggies were over cooked and every order was drowning in some subpar sauce, not even the chicken wings were fried well the skin was almost soggy in texture... the fortune cookie was near awful, I spat it out because it was stale, maybe it's the heat but holy roasted marshmallows how is the fortune cookie bad?! Went there because my favorite normal place was closed for the day. I told them it was a chance to win my business. I ordered veggie fried rice and asked (and paid for extra veggies). I reminded the counter staff it was a chance to impress me and I'd gladly be back. I tipped $4 (for nothing) and said I am giving you a good tip so please load up veggies. So what did I get in my rice. One snow pea...correct one..and wait for it..3 pieces of carrot...nice. Wonder what you get without paying for extra veggies. I've picked up food from this restaurant for over a decade, and their service and food has recently become a nightmare. I will never order from them again! The second to last time I ordered delivery from them, they forgot to deliver my order! They told me that my order would take 45 minutes, and when it didn't arrive after over an hour, I called back. They did not apologize, they did not offer me any sort of discount, they just sent the food and it arrived in about 30 minutes. To top it off, the delivery man was incredibly callous and rude. I had no food in the house, so I decided to give them one last chance. The last time I ordered delivery from them, the food was inedible (Immediately gave us a stomach ache, and just generally wasn't good enough to finish.) The delivery man sneered at his tip (which was 10% of the total, only because he had been so rude to me before) and he told me to pick up my own food next time. This restaurant has no sense of cleanliness, taste, nor does it seek to actually satisfy its customers. I'm never going back. read more
