He's a con artist! $550 he charged me, dragging out a 10minute drive.google.com solution for 5.5 hours!!! On Yelp I asked for help transferring my documents from my pc over to my new MacPro, and to get my new printer to work with my devices. He saw I'm an old lady and deliberately He charged me $550 and wasted 5.5 hours of my painful time, for a problem he could have solved in 10minutes with drive.google.com a girlfriend told me the next day! He actually was a thief stealing my time and my money, asking for and using my old hardware I wasn't even using because he was trying to take as much time as possible to drag out old solutions he already knew that didn't work. And at the end of 5.5 hours he still hadn't fixed my printer problem, accusing me of not telling him about that problem in the beginning , even denying he'd found me on Yelp, when where else had he found me? Steve had kept calling and leaving messages and I'd been busy but finally called him back. I have SPINAL STENOSIS so have pain all day every day and had told him so. 5.5 hours and $550 later I was in so much pain I felt like I paid him off without arguing just to finally get him the burning hell out of my house! I could see the gleam in his eyes as I prepared to transfer my money into his Zelle account - because he'd fooled me into paying him what he didn't deserve! Yes I was surprised when he first came in asking for my own old hardware I had to dig up, instead of solving the problem on his own like he was supposed to do. Then at some point over 5.5 hours yes 5.5 extremely long dragged out hours when I remarked about techs that overcharge for work, he told me the story about how he actually operates: Just like his Dad who worked all his life in a car dealership and had told him the lesson he'd learned there - even when it might take the mechanics 3 minutes YES 3 MINUTES to fix a problem, they'd make the car owner sit and wait out in the lobby for hours just to justify what they'd charged them!!! So Steve learned that lesson from his dad and was right there using that same RIPOFF to scam me out of $550 instead of settling for the hour's minimum order he'd told me about on the phone. And until he refunds me my $400, I'll have nothing but very bad things to say about this conniving man who preys on old people like he preyed on me!!!! read more

Spent over $1,000 on Steve's service and over $2,000 more on new computer, monitor and scanner with the intention of having a office and home computer that could interact but now I have 2 computers that I can't use to do what I've done in my business for years and one that I've had for years but when reaching out for help his response is to pay him for training. I called him out to check Norton-generated man in the middle attack warnings on both of our personal laptops that caused me several sleepless nights. My wife and I telecommute, and I also wanted to have him assess our internet setup to make sure everything looked ok. He spent over 2 hours going over our setup, computers, answering every question my wife had - every tech question that I didn't know the answers to about her computer & phone. Steve did not provide correct diagnosis. I removed that drive and updated the chipset and it didn't fix a thing. I felt like his conclusion was very rushed (because he said he was going out of town) and did not justify the $80. I am very dissatisfied with the service he provided and I won't be using his services again. Steve couldn't even format the "corrupt" d drive and I was able to reformat the old drive with ease but a professional could not salvage it. In the invoice he mentioned that the drive was the "likely culprit" for my issued. A real professional would have removed that drive to see if that was the issue. I removed that drive and concluded that was not the issue. All this man did was run this diagnostic app called speccy and assumed my hard drive was the issue. I honestly want a refund. I never post reviews and I have time to for steve to make things right but he never replied back to my texts. I found a real professional to help me with my issue. Bad experience with Steve. When I dropped off my computer, Steve said the charge for the basis evaluation would be $40. The invoice he sent me after completion was $65. The invoice didn't mention anything about increasing the computer speed, but when I questioned the amount he offered to honor the $40 charge only if I allowed him to decrease the speed to how it was before, I was disappointed with the lack of professionalism in his response. Actually I do not feel the computer goes faster. In addition, he offers a free basis evaluation. He didn't follow up his offer. read more

My old laptop couldn 't start up, and I get a new laptop to this "specialist " to do "date backup " (transfer) to my new one. He told me he will backup the files to my new laptop as they were located in my old one, desktop to desktop, drives to drives, etc. Well, the result is: only what can be seen on desktop are in my new laptop, including the short-cuts, but those files behind the short-cuts are not there. I get back to him and he said he would grap the user and doc folders only, but wouldn 't touch the rest for privacy concern. Well, I let you login my laptop and you use "privacy " to pardon your sloppy work that left a bunch of unaccessible folders in my new one ? The shortcuts have paths for actual location ! Is it that hard to sort everything into file types and really backing up the files to their idenical location ? Just a right click to go ! Every critical life lesson I have learned has been spoon-fed to me through the wonder of the Hollywood screen. Want to win the big game? You better find yourself a ragtag bunch of underdogs. Want to get the girl? Creepy stalker moves like showing up uninvited and making huge, awkward professions of infatuation work every time. Need a good computer super genius? They better be a lone wolf that works their magic in a solitary lab you will never see. A real guru doesn't show you the goods. Sorry, but that's just science. Your digital Sherpa also better not have a corporate clock to punch. Yoda didn't have a polo shirt with a multi-national insignia on it for good reason; he wasn't "The Man's" lap dog. Now, initially I was dubious. From the aforementioned movietime wisdom, I know that any great computer wiz is also a hygienically-challenged, misanthropic recluse who can't get through a conversation without condescension. Steve runs wholly counter to that. He was very nice while taking the time needed to explain (and, if I'm honest, re-explain) all the answers to our questions. He also gave us extremely reasonable rates despite the fact that he obviously knew we were in a serious bind. After an intense 24 hours and, I assume, an 80's style movie hero montage, we had our laptop back and good as new. He didn't treat our bank account like Sasha Grey in a locker room. He didn't talk to me like I have the IQ of a not particularly bright goat (You know the goat I'm talking about. Always eating clothes or getting its head stuck in the fence. I hate that goat). He didn't even leave Cheetos crumbs in the nooks and crannies of my keyboard. He just fixed everything quickly for a good price while being a really nice guy. Forget the people on the "Squad". The best place/people to have your computer repaired. Totally honest. He'll tell you if it's worth fixing or better to recycle, even if there's no money for him that way. Excellent communicator, knows what he's doing, and he's nice and helpful too! Seems like he knows that besides being in the computer business, which he knows so well, he is also in the customer service business, and really takes care of the customer. He responds fast, works from early to very late, and I would not hesitate refer him to everybody and anybody without a second thought or hesitation. My computer was at another shop, together with my laptop. (Somebody referred me to this mobile phone repair place on PCH and Madison). They kept my computer (they say they repair computers!) for over three weeks. Never called me once, except for me calling and going there. Hard to communicate. After two weeks he said the laptop had a problem on its video card, and he was waiting for the part... and that the computer he would try to fix without erasing the data. When it was almost a month, I went there again, and I told him I would just pick up the two machines, that I didn't care if he'd spend time on them. I took them right over to Steve. The laptop Steve found it was not repairable. The desktop he found this other guy had erased everything, putting it back to factory settings, and all my data was gone... so much for telling me that he had done that! Thank G-d I keep an online backup. But it's still hard to retrieve the data, it takes a long time and I would have been happier with having my data... which Steve probably could have saved, So... my wholeheartedly recommendation goes to Steve here. May he have this company for many years to come... we all need him to be our tech department. Thank you Steve!!! read more

Wifi in the house went down and we set an appointment for the Geek Squad to come out for $200. The Geek Squad then pushed our appointment another week, so we sought other help. Glad we did! I found "You First Tech" on Yelp and we left a message for Steve. He called back in 5 minutes, came out that day at his $70 an hour rate. It turned out our Aiport Express Base Station needed to be completely re-setup, so he ended up fixing the Wifi in the first hour. We ended up keeping him for 3 hours total and having him fix every little issue we had on the computer, printer, etc. Each time we were about to go into another hour, he let us know and made sure it was ok. He was extremely nice, very user friendly, and even left us a document on the computer on how to fix the wifi in case anything like this happened again. Overall a great experience, much cheaper and easier to reach than the Geed Squad. Nothing felt better than canceling that appointment and telling them to hit road. We are using "You First Tech" from now on and recommending them to all other neighbors. read more
