Duck Ramen with Gyoza Lunch Hot Noodle
Olivia M.

I've always ordered the same things: takoyaki, spicy duck ramen, or a dynamite roll. Everything usually tastes pretty good but that last 3-4 times I've been there, the ramen was lacking flavor and just not as satisfactory as I would have liked. The portions have also gotten slightly smaller and the prices are tolerable but not great for what you're getting. The ambience is nice though and the service is always very kind and attentive. It's definitely not my favorite place in the area and I have not felt like going there just because it hasn't been the best the past few visits.

This place was okay in taste but for its price it wasn't worth it. The noodles also didn't taste exactly like its description, I wasn't a fan of the menu in general.

Las Vegas Dinner House Special Roll
Latrice W.

I ordered pickup and when I arrived, the don't accept tap or Amex which was a shock to the system. Once I got to the car and seen the food, I was very disappointed. The "Sunday morning" that was suggested on the phone tasted soggy and odd. The Las Vegas roll was deep fried as well and the taste wasn't right. It tasted like it was sitting for a long time but I arrived 18 minutes after I called (was told 15 minutes for food to be ready). Hopefully better for the next customers.

Tempura Dinner Regular Roll

Nice spot. Friendly service.,Enjoyed the bento box very much. The salmon was delicious!!! The tempura was yummy as well!

The interior is quite large with lots of window seating, the booth we sat in was clean and comfortable. Our server was very nice and handled by request for no sesame seeds without issue. We ordered gyoza (pork), avocado roll, an asparagus tempura roll, spicy California roll, shoyu ramen, and miso ramen. The dumplings came out first, they were plentiful, crispy, and had a nice flavor. The miso ramen was enough for my teenage daughter and I to share, it had a nice comforting flavor and the noodles were perfectly bouncy. I tried some of the shoyu broth as well which was equally delicious. Side note: both ramen bowls came with a 4pc side of gyoza, which I did not realize! The only downside for me was the price of the entrees. Normally I would have ordered chicken katsu, but not at their $27 price tag.

Tuna Avocado & Spicy California

Wow - my new favorite sushi takeout spot in Ann Arbor! I am a huge sushi fan, and am always searching for the freshest fish I can find in the area. This is by far the best I've had so far. The tuna was so fresh and delicious, perfectly ripe avocado. The service is wonderful, the staff was super friendly each time I've been in, and ordering was easy. Highly recommend!

Agadashi tofu
Lydia F.

Agadashi Tofu How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Is it thine crunchy fried tofu Or the comforting hug of your rich broth Is it the mushrooms so perfect they seem unreal Or the crunch of unidentifiable orange bits I don't know all of the ingredients But I know your soul And it is love For real though, everything here is spectacular. Great service, great food. So good that it may uplift your mood. So good that your new happy mood may cause something unexpectedly good to happen. I guess I'm saying that you need to eat here and manifest some good food in your life. Especially the agadashi tofu. It's life changing.

I finally visited Yotsuba after having it on my list for a while. One thing to point out is that the service here is really good. Overall, the sushi is pretty good. I would recommend the caterpillar roll the most out of the 5 I got. I wouldn't get the one with the spicy tuna on top of crispy rice again due to the overwhelming amount of rice in proportion. The chicken was ok and could be seasoned more. I also got the scallops nigiri which tasted very fresh, but the salmon sashimi had 2 bones in it.

Bento box

Been here several times and only now reviewing! I think they changed the interior over covid -- I remember there being kotatsu-esque booths that are closer to the ground but it seems they were replaced with regular booths. I didn't see any tatami rooms but maybe they were in another part of the restaurant. Food was great. Their bento box has a great spread including tempura, gyoza, fried siu mai, and katsu shrimp. You also get a little salad and pickles along with your chicken teriyaki. Sushi is solid (maki and nigiri). The fatty tuna is not worth the price. Good takoyaki. Service was kind but got a little spottier near the end of our visit. Definitely going to go back! Just know they don't seem to have an especially authentic Japanese restaurant experience environment-wise, but the food is decent!

Cold noodle dish qnd tempura veggies!

Calamari was spot on, so delicious! Loved the cold noodle dish. Also tried several rolls and they was all very good as well! Will most definitely return when in the area!

Chicken Katsu

Stopped by for dinner this weekend. We ordered couple sushi rolls - Fancy Cali Tempura and Firecracker - and the chicken katsu. The sushi was delicious and fresh. The chicken katsu was just ok - not enough sauce with the amount of chicken they give. The service was kind and friendly and the restaurant was clean. Would definitely come back.

Sushi

What to do when you don't have anything in the refrigerator and you're starving? Order sushi! So this has been a place I have been numerous times over the years. I looked at the on line menu and noticed that there were things I had never tried. So tonight I'm going to try the Ika sugatayaki as well as things I know I love: The California roll with roe salmon nigiri Salmon roe Kick me for not remembering that I should just call the restaurant and place my order directly. Their online ordering goes through some thing called ZUPPLER. There was a service charge of $1.50 to use this service. Why not just talk to a human? No way to ask questions. I know you could be put on hold, but I guess I don't see the advantage to the on line ordering. But I am old fashioned. OK now for the food. The ika sugatayaki is grilled squid. It was tough. I cannot recommend it. I have had some amazing grilled squid, this was nothing like what I have had before. It was cut into thin rings. It must have been overcooked. the California roll was very good. They use crab salad not the crab stick. I prefer that. And it came with a good amount of roe on top. The salmon roe nigiri was ok, not a fresh tasting as I have had. The salmon nigiri was good, but also nothing special. The bill with tip (carry out , so no drinks) was $36.00. Disappointing overall. The food was ready at the time promised.

The sushi is pretty good here, but the prices are high and the take out wait times are extremely long. Plan accordingly.

Has anyone ordered since social distancing began? Did you observe face masks on the staff? I haven't had takeout since the beginning, really craving sushi.

Yes they wear face masks.

I went back to Azalea for a family dinner and didn't realize they had changed their menu since the…read morefirst time I visited. The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.

Definitely my go-to entree. Thai-Style Calamari (5/5): One of THE main reasons I love Pacific Rim so much. This is the best calamari appetizer I've had. Lightly breaded and fresh. The sweet chili sauce is perfect. Thai Peanut Noodles (4/5): The noodles had great texture and the Thai peanut sauce was delicious. The tofu wasn't really crispy and I personally would've loved the option to add some meat. Lamb Dumpling (4/5): Lots of meat in the filling and didn't taste gamy at all. Limited time special. Shrimp Shumai (4/5): Really enjoyed the wonton wrapper. Shrimp flavor came through nicely. Limited time special. House Salad (4/5): Light and fresh. The soy based dressing was sweet, slightly acidic, and not at all overpowering. Warm Chocolate Cake (4/5): Delicious cake with a warm, gooey inside. I personally don't like coconut or chocolate and fruit desserts, but I still enjoyed this a lot. Creme Brulee Tasting (4/5) : Green tea, pumpkin spice, and ginger creme brulees. Loved getting to try a little bit of each flavor (green tea was my favorite). Spiced Caramel Pear (3/5): Not my favorite since I don't generally like cooked fruit. I saw so many people posting about this place on Insta and decided to come out and see if it was worth the hype. It was very worth the hype, the food was absolutely delicious! Due to wanting to try everything, as always, I ordered tons and way too much and ended up with several boxes, bags, and meals. I had a couple drinks, I think they were the x-rated passion and the pear sakitini. They were good, very floral. We started with their soup and salad, which were standard and good. We had so much salad, I did box it up for a couple more meals. Then we tried the crispy chicken buns. They were so good. Since I had so much to eat, we each got one, and it took me two days to finish mine. The chicken was crispy, and I like how the bun was fluffy but also a bit crispy on the outside. We also tried their iconic tuna nachos. The chips were really good. I would have loved a wanton chip instead, as other places do it, but the tuna was so buttery. It was almost as good as the tuna in Hawaii and French Polynesia. I liked to roe and avocado, which was also so creamy. We had a couple sushi rolls. We got the spider roll. It was so crispy and very well make, and the California roll with the kani salad and avocado, no cucumber, which perfect since child hates cucumbers and normally picks them out. It was very fresh and delicious. We also tried their wagyu burger and fries. I personally cannot tell the difference between types of beef, but it was an extremely flavorful, well-cooked burger. We split it in three, and it took a few days to finish my portion. The real star from that meal was the tempura French fries, they were so good and crispy, and very unique. Those are really a must order. We also tried the teriyaki chicken and broccoli. We recently had some very mediocre teriyaki chicken, and I was afraid it was going to taste like that looking at the dish, but it was not. It was so well cooked and flavorful and so was the veg, don't judge a meal on it's looks. It was worth ordering again. But the real, real reason why I was here was for their famous flying lobster noodles. That was really worth the drive. Their noodles were smokey and flavorful, and a large portion it took several meals and three people to finish it. I liked the addition of shrimp with the lobster and it was not fishy, so those of us who do not eat fish could still enjoy the noodles. That is something I would order every time. Funny, I did not realize both of their children were on Food Network, but I did watch those shows at the time. I hear the noodles were in honor of the daughter's show, so thanks for allowing us to taste your amazing looking dish. On the other hand, the service was really only fair. I read other reviews and while the servers were good, they did not really seem to want to engage with us verbally or talk to us. They were very lukewarm at best, even though the rest of their service was great. They were attentive, but not friendly. I do want to come back and order it all over again and then some, so I hope to return soon. This was a really fun place.

My husband and I were very excited to try these pushpops. It's such a great idea! However, this…read moregreat idea needs some tweaks... First, my overall impression of Godaiko is it seems like a nice place. The decor is pretty and the vibe seemed to be very chill. I am curious about how good the regular fare is. The sushi pushpops are only available to-go, and can only be ordered at a kiosk that is set up just inside the door - you almost walk into it. Thankfully my husband and I arrived a bit early, because a line quickly formed behind us that went out the door. The price is decent, considering you are getting a full sushi roll that is very filling. The flavor options are limited to five (5), and only one does not have egg product: three have mayo and Caesar Salad has egg in the dressing. For people who are allergic to eggs - like me - this is really not cool. My husband ordered the Spicy Tuna and the Fire Shrimp (the one I originally wanted). To my despair, my only option was the Philly Philly roll, which I hate. But because we drove 45 minutes to try the sushi pushpops, no way was I not going to get one! I have to admit that the seasoning on the rice gave a good flavor to the Philly Philly roll, so it wasn't complete torture... My husband enjoyed his rolls very much. The soy sauce comes in a narrow tube that doubles as the stick used to push up the sushi. It clips to the side of the carton. One has to be careful when pulling this out of the clip, because for some reason the tube opens at both ends and if you are a little heavy-handed you can end up with sauce on your pants! The Good: Innovative product that sets it apart from its competitors. Taste is good, and the packaging makes this easy to eat on the go. What Needs Improvement: 1). Put an allergy notification/warning about the egg; especially since it is not listed in the ingredients. Thankfully, my intuition told me to ask before I ordered.... 2). Add more flavors; especially egg-free options! A nice shrimp tempura or unagi roll would be good.... Or .. give the option to custom-make the roll so that the mayo can be omitted, giving those who are allergic to egg a chance to enjoy. . Perhaps allow the custom order to be made at the bar so as not to tie up the kiosk. 3). Maybe move the kiosk away from the door so that you're not walking right into it. On a busy day/night, I can see that line being a big annoyance for the customers coming to dine in. 4). Seal one end of the sauce tube. Not sure why both ends need to be opened. 5). Offer more sauce options (we were only given Soy).... 6). Label the tubes! Since the rolls are premade, and not labeled, the risk is high of mixing up the flavors - especially when it's busy. A discreet little label on the bottom of the tube would be fine. All-in-all, getting the sushi pushpops was a fun and novel experience. However, because of the limited flavor options that are heavily mayo'ed, I am rating this experience 3 stars.
