I purchased a used car from Yonkers Kia three months and 18 days ago and in this time have experience many negative customer service interactions. The paperwork I filled out at the time of sale was done incorrectly, so I was unable to get my car registration and license plate until TODAY; remember, 3 months and 18 days later. During that time I have had harassing and intimidating calls from employees of Yonkers Kia threatening to repossess my car. Apparently, even if I'm making all the payments on it, if Yonkers Kia doesn't get it registered in a timely manner the bank can repossess it and I would still be stuck paying it off for another 5 years. So the bank still gets the loan paid off, the salesman still gets his commission, but I would no longer have an automobile. The issue of getting my car registered was not even brought to my attention until a month and a day after buying the car. The problem was with the insurance, I was insured in Michigan at the time of purchase, but needed to be insured in Florida. The salesman never mentioned that the car needed to be insured in Florida, just that my insurance bills needed to be addressed there. To rectify this mistake I was asked by an employee of Yonkers Kia over a month after purchase to commit insurance fraud to smooth over this mistake, something I was uncomfortable doing, but also something that no insurance agent would help me with either. Now, the employee at Yonkers Kia never said "insurance fraud", they asked me to get retroactive insurance for one day in the state of Florida. My insurance carrier informed me that that constitutes insurance fraud, also that he had this same conversation ONE MONTH earlier with the person who asked me to do this and he had informed her that what she was asking was insurance fraud. I get so frustrated that she knew this a month prior to asking me to do it and still asked me. On numerous occasions I was told that someone would look into what needed to be done to get my car registered with promises of a call back either later in the day or early the next morning, but with no call backs. At one point, after being threatened with repossession and being asked to commit insurance fraud the employees of Yonkers Kia ignored every attempt I made to contact them for a three week period. During this time I contacted the Better Business Bureau and submitted a complaint. One week later Yonkers Kia got back in touch with me and with a more solution oriented attitude (although the threat of the bank repossessing my car was still hanging over my head, but the guy in financing said he'd try his best to get the bank to wait). When they got back in touch with me they said they were able to get my car registered in the state I am currently living in, Washington, but first I needed to get a Washington license (I had held onto my Florida license because up until this point I was told that the car would have to be registered in Florida) and the car needed to be emissions tested. I sent a copy of my WA license, WA insurance and emissions test to Yonkers Kia and was told to expect paperwork in the mail to sign in the next week. Three weeks passed and no paperwork arrived. All of the calls I made during that time to check on whether or not the paperwork had been sent went unanswered, until I finally got a call back to say that no paperwork was necessary because they had used my signature from another document I had signed. However, all the paperwork was processing and in approximately 12 business days I would have my license plates and registration. Like I said earlier, it took 3 months and 18 days, but I finally received them in the mail today and am thrilled to be through dealing with these people. I hope this review helps someone to decide against going to Yonkers Kia for their automobile needs. The lack of customer service skills, the intimidation and bullying is just not worth it. You're safer to go somewhere where the customer really matters, not a showroom full of shifty eyed, sniffly nosed salesmen trying to make a quick buck. I wish I had taken the time to read some of these reviews before I purchased a car from there. I could have avoided 3 months and 18 days of stress and worry. Oh yeah, and in addition to having a crappy experience with the staff at Yonkers Kia, I've already had to replace the tires, air filter and belts. The right turn signal only works on occasion and the high beams still need to be replaced because they haven't worked since I bought the car. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare that I get to keep paying for for five more years. Ugh! read more
