I hope that many read this and decide to experience it for themselves. They will NOT be disappointed. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with girlfriends by doing something "different" that would be relaxing and rejuvenating. A friend suggested Yoni Steam Honolulu. I am so glad she did! It was an exceptional experience from the moment I emailed Madi. She responded promptly and professionally. I was a little hesitant that my friends and I would enjoy such an intimate experience 'together.' But, Madi made everything feel so effortless. By the time we arrived for our group appointment, we were all extremely excited, almost inspired, to try this ancient practice. The location is truly a hidden gem. You can't tell from the outside but once you step over the threshold you are transported to a comfortable and tranquil space filled with natural sunlight and the aromas of fresh herbs. Beautifully decorated, it is clean and convenient with lockers, dressing tables, and private changing rooms. Everything about the space seems to welcome you in and encourage you to embrace your femininity. Madi prepared a special mixture of herbs and crystals for each of us--personalizing the group experience for each lady. This was fantastic because I wanted my guests to feel like it was a shared experience but wanted them to feel special too. Madi showed truly gracious and generous service. We each had a silver bell we could ring when we needed our glasses filled or the temperature of the steam adjusted. Speaking of glasses, the deluxe steam includes refreshments and drinks. I made my own Cha-Coochie boxes for my girlfriends, but Madi supplied the bubbly! Tea and juice were also options, but it was a celebration, so we all splurged on Prosecco. We also received a Goddess reading. You select a random Goddess card and Madi provides a book with explanation on your Goddess persona. Every card and reading were right on the money. So fascinating and fun! It was all the minute details, like this, that made our time at Yoni Steam Honolulu so exceptional. All my girlfriends are familiar with a variety of spa experiences. I was thrilled that I was able (with Madi's help) to treat them to such a special pampering. Who needs group pedis and manis when you can steam together?!? Seriously, if you want to spend time with the special ladies in your life THIS is the thing to do with them. Unlike a massage or a pedi or mani, there wasn't anyone else in the room with us. We could chat, laugh, sip, and steam in a very intimate atmosphere. Again, if we needed Madi, she was just a silver bell ring away. It was unlike any spa experience any of us have had or shared. We had the whole spa to ourselves so that gave us added privacy. I'd HIGHLY suggest getting a group of gals together to do the same. It would also be an excellent experience to share with one or two besties or even an adult niece, daughter, or granddaughter. I enjoy these steams at Korean spas so the first I've tried this place. There was a definite added service touch on top of the prompt response in making a last minute appointment with Madi. Instructions of arriving were so clear and easy to follow. Upon arrival, Madi is just a sweetheart so felt instantly at ease. The spa is conveniently located on Kapahulu Ave. and is so clean and well maintained. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted and shown to the pristine locker rooms where you will store your belongings and change into your mumu and socks. The dress has a slit in the back to easily sit on yoni steam designed chair over an herbal broth. You can pick different mixtures based on your personal needs, and I usually go with herbs that focus on tightening. Your yoni steam comes with snacks and your choice of a glass water, tea or wine. The owner asked me about my desired herbs, as different herbs cater to specific conditions. I came here after purchasing a groupon and was pleasantly surprised. The energy in the space was very calming and relaxing. The space is filled with natural light which comes in through these billowy curtains, giving a kind of ethereal vibe. The practitioner was very warm and welcoming, giving me my forms to fills out and preparing the locker room for me. You get a choice of what color gown which was a nice touch and little lace footies so you don't have to walk barefoot through the place. While you change, the practitioner prepares your steam based on the goals you wish to achieve and there were a lot to choose from ranging from fertility issues, hormone balancing, and mood issues to headaches and emotional trauma release. Once ready, you are led to your personal steam seat and and relax for 45 minutes. My steam smelled like roses which was very pleasant. You are offered all sorts of beverages and snacks while you get your steam on. If you would like to hold in more of the heat, you have the option of draping a blanket over you lap. It works well at holding in steam, but makes you warm, a detail they have anticipated because shortly after I draped my blanket over my lap, I was offered an ice cold towel with a lovely citrus fragrance which was very refreshing and did the trick to cool me down. After the 45 minutes are up, your pot is turned of and you are allowed to rest there until the water cools. The locker room is well stocked with several high end products to refresh with with prior to dressing. Overall, it was a really neat and interesting experience. You definitely feel at peace when you leave and very connected to your feminine self. It is certainly an experience I would like to try again, just to gauge whether I notice any differences. Afterwards you'll be shown to your yoni steam area. -I took my phone with me with my headphones since I knew I was going to be sitting for awhile. -they'll ask if you want any refreshments, snacks and a goddess card. Treated my mom to her first Yoni Steam! I had one day for a yelp event, and I knew I had to take my mom here to reap the benefits of Yoni steam. We were able to find plenty of parking in the Starbucks parking lot, and walked our way over to the building. We were greeted by our host Tamar, she was so sweet and nice, she made sure we filled out our paperwork first so we could get the right mix of herbs for us. After we changed in our robes we were taken to our steam and lucky us it just us two, but the curtains are set up so you honestly get a lot of privacy while you're steaming, and can even close it around you if you want. Tamar brought us yummy refreshments such as cheesecake, coconut water, cashews and chips. We also got to draw our goddess cards, I couldn't believe that our cards were alphabetically after each other after drawing them random. The steam was so relaxing, I suffer from painful cramps, and my mother is going through menopause, I think the steam is great way for us women to take care of ourselves and care for our Yoni. Walk towards to Tenkkaipin, but stop right by Edmonds Investments--the narrow stair will be on your left. That will lead you upstairs. A sign will also lead you which room to go. My reflection: -The room is very relaxing. It really gives you that "majestic relaxing ambiance ." Just seating in their receiving area was already relaxing with all the aroma and music. -The service was awesomely great. Again majestic. I feel really pampered in some ways. Allison was working alone during my visit and I was the only one there so it was pretty intimate, i felt. Once I was seated I was completely at ease. I got a blanket to keep the exta heat and an extra pillow for back comfort. After about 10 minutes I was in my relax state, yes the glass of wine that came with my steam did help. There was nothing else that I wanted but to relax and clear my mind. Allison is an amazing person with and amazing energy that you can just feel. I had a lot on my mind when I went in and after a few minutes of steaming I was in a different place in my mind and could feel through my body. Allison lets you pick a goddess card and you get to read the meaning of the card and the card I picked was spot on. She also handed me a book and she said that she felt I needed to open up. I opened it up to a page and that too made validation for what I was feeling at the time and the decision I made that day. Yoni steam has been one of my great relaxation discoveries of 2017! You might be wondering what is a Yoni steam? Here's how it's described on the Yoni Steam Honolulu website: "Yoni Steaming--also known as Vaginal Steaming--is a practice in which a woman allows the warmth of a mild organic herbal steam to permeate the exterior of her vagina up into the womb." If you've never experienced Yoni Steam, you think it's going to be on par with a visit to the gynecologist and everyone is going to be all up in your business. And this couldn't be farther from the truth! I remember the first time I heard about it, I couldn't stop laughing and had to ask if this was a joke or a real business? Well I for one can attest after many yoni steam visits, that the experience only makes you feel more relaxed, beautiful and connected to your soul. I would now rather get a Yoni Steam than a massage, that's how much I love it! When you get to the spa you get to check off a sheet which tells the staff which herb mix you should have. The boxes range from lack of energy to anxiety to depression, and you can check off whatever you want. The first time I went I checked off lack of energy and it basically made me take a four hour nap after my session and then I slept so soundly that night. The best sleep of my life and all thanks to Yoni Steam! After you fill out your forms you change into a comfortable colored full length dress and there are keyed lockers for all your belongings. Then you're escorted to your yoni chair which you sit on. The chair has a hole in the seat and the yoni pot (which basically looks like a crock pot) is underneath filled with your herbs and hot water. After you're seated the staff takes your refreshment order which ranges from tea to wine to organic snacks. My favorites are the red wine and frozen chocolate covered bananas. Then you just spend the next 45 minutes either reading a book, meditating or talking to a friend if you brought one with you. You steam away all the stress and worry in your life. This in turn helps you open up your energy to attract everything you want so you can be the best you! My new goal for 2018 is to yoni at least 2-3 times a month and host a steaming party with 6-8 friends so that we can have some solid female bonding time. I'm a mother of three and know that the time I spend taking care of myself impacts every other part of my life. If I'm depleted then how can I possibly serve others? So I'm not going to lie, I was mildly curious but scared to go to this place. First of all yoni steaming is vaginal steaming. You're going to steam what??? So what girl wouldn't be concerned about going unless you've been before. . I've never had a yoni steam or even thought about it. The place is located above Kapahulu Starbuck. There is a small parking lot in the back of Starbucks and the staircase is Kapahulu, on the side of Starbucks. This place is small so it's appointment only since they only have a small amount of chairs. Yoni Steaming is a very gentle process that's supposed to provide non invasive treatment for purification and release by using herbs. You can read more about the history and benefits in their website. So once you step in, your experience begins. I was greeted when I came which helped ease my fears. I we filled out some forms where I could indicate any health issues or personal needs. My customized blend of herbs was created and added to a pot of mildly steamed water. While the pot was being created, I got to choose a full length gown color. The gowns were so pretty, and came in 4 colors. You got these cute princess socks to wear inside too. They also have key lockers for your stuff and a small vanity to freshen up by the dressing room. Ok, here is what you really wanted to know... During the yoni steaming, you are within the privacy of linen walls, draped in a full length gown. Don't worry, you don't see anyone naked or need to show anyone anything. You sit on a custom, one of a kind yoni chair that is hand-crafted locally with a cushioned seat that has an opening. They advised that each seat is sanitized after use and then covered in a freshly cleaned towel. There are two seats next to each other behind each linen wall which was great so I could be together with my friend and chat. However, if you feel it was too awkward, there was a curtain that could separate each chair. This also helped ease some of my nerves. I didn't want to be steaming my ladybits and have some stranger look at me. Yes, no one can see anything but just the idea made me more nervous before I came. So the process is actually very gentle and the 45 minutes goes by very fast. It's a quiet place and actually very relaxing. You are given a bell to ring in case you needed to call for anything. I got to select a drink and snack from a small menu. I got a lovely iced green tea with organic honey and coconut dark chocolate almonds. I'm to gonna lie, it was a little odd at first and got pretty warm down there. But after a couple minutes, I relaxed and and SHE relaxed. It was then really pleasant. But also remember the gown is thick so it keeps all the steam inside. If it got too warm, you could use the gown as a fan. The steam temperature wasn't too hot for me but my legs were hot and sweating. Yoni Spa notes: Make sure you use the restroom first Make sure you sit properly. For a little bit, I felt it more on the back door since I was nervous and sitting straight up. Go alone for me time or bring a friend, so time passes by quicker. Lift the dress a little and use it was a fan since it does get steamy under there. Even your legs sweat! Be open and relax! I felt relaxed and refreshed afterwards, more than I thought that I would. Now did I feel as great as I do after a massage? Hmmm, honestly no. Hopefully in time I'll feel the benefits in other ways like have less cramps at that time of the month. Would I go back? There is a very serene place for women called Yoni Steam located in Kapahulu. I'm very excited we are in an age where women is celebrated. A lot of different cultures have been practicing this for centuries like in my country in The Philippines which many of my family and friends have been doing. A year after the birth of my daughter almost 5 years ago, my husband and I have been trying for another baby but have experienced a few miscarriages. So let me say that the customer service was amazing- so 5 stars for customer service. The experience in itself for me was one star... because yoni is not for me. Basically, I sat over a steam pot, bare bottomed, and allowed steam to come up my dress. It reminded me of a Louisiana swamp summer, my zone was overly warm... like the cusp of the perfect climate for a yeast infection. This is probably more for the crowd who keeps crystals in their bras to balance energetic vibes with the universe. It did not connect me with the universe, I did not feel more "in tune" with my spirit, or body, I just sat, and sweated. I would have been happier in a sauna, and with headphones. We decided to try Yoni Steam Honolulu as part of our friends birthday weekend. The owner, Maddie, made scheduling a breeze. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the benefits and healing properties of the different blends. The interior was clean and designed really cute. Perfect spot for a girls spa day or a celebration (i.e. birthday or bridal shower). They provided outfits to change into and "goddess socks" to wear during the session. Before you start, you'll fill out a questionnaire about some concerns or needs you may have (i.e. anxiety, cramps, infertility, etc). Based on your individualized needs, they create a yoni steam blend. You can also choose to add other things for an additional charge to your blend (crystals/Noni leaves) or for the experience (eye masks/face masks). They also provided us with drinks and light snacks. Experience: At first I thought steaming was so weird. But I looked it up I was in the area and had nothing else to do so i decided to try it. I'm glad I did! From the time you walk in to the time you walk out is just all great vibes. It's really nicely designed inside, feels very homey. Madi helped me and is super friendly made me feel comfortable (especially since I was my first time). Attire: I didn't know proper dress but she said it was totally fine because they provided a cover up for you (as seen in picture). They have changing rooms and lockers. It was actually a really relaxing experience. What they to offer: They have something for your every need, whether it's just needing to balance your PH, tightening, PMS, anxiety/stress relief, detoxification and much more! They also offer drinks and snacks which I thought was really awesome of them! Time: Steaming takes about 45min or so but I honestly was so relaxed the time flew by so quickly! Madi said it's done and I was like aww really? Lol Location: I got a little lost at first. You park in the parking in front of Jamba Juice walk to Kapahulu Ave and right after Starbucks there's a set of stairs just go up the stairs and turn right (there's a sign). But after it was done, I felt so calm & collected. They customize the tea based upon a questionnaire they have you fill out on your initial appointment. I had the pleasure in meeting the owner who loved to talk story & listen to your experience. Parking/location is so easy! This place is so special. Went there with my friend for her birthday and now cannot wait to go back. If you are reading this, I'm sure you already know a little about yoni steaming so I won't explain what it is. When we got there, we came into this beautiful space and filled out a survey about what's ailing us lately. There is a huge list of things you can say from mental health to physical pain. They're not doctors by any means, but they go over your list and create a custom herbal healing blend just for your session. It smells amazing! Then we got into our yoni steaming dresses which were so comfortable and pretty. You can even choose the color you want to wear! I have taken steam baths before, where the robe went up to your neck. They were good, but I love that it just looks and feels like a goddess dress on a relaxing day. We started our steam and the attendant was very attentive, checking if we needed to lower the intensity and also gave us some snacks. They offered some cookies and cashews and I think she said they have wine too? The cookies were not vegan so I gave them to her (happy birthday! lol) and since the process is all about getting the toxins out of your body, I decided against the wine and just went with good old water. We left our phones in the (super clean) locker room so that we could connect and just have great talks while steaming, since it was 45 minutes. I can't recommend this enough. Leave your technology in the locker room and connect with your girls! We were sitting in two chairs next to each other but they were saying that they could rent the whole place out if you wanted to have a steam party for bridal party adventures etc. Great to know for next time! I want to take every woman I know to this place. After we left, I felt really peaceful. I did put anxiety as something I was dealing with at the time of my steam, so judging how I felt immediately after, I would say that it did help me :) If you are even considering going here, just do it! They are so pleasant and we met the owner who you can tell is extremely passionate about the space. You will not regret being in this safe space of love and light. read more
