I had a wonderful massage experience at Uilani Spa from the moment I walked in. Everyone who works there is friendly and attentive. I was greeted with a refreshing hot towel for my hands and given a consent form to complete. Then I was escorted to the women's locker room with a bathrobe and slippers, where i changed and stored my belongings in a complimentary locker. Afterwards, I relaxed in a quiet, dimly lit lounge until my massage therapist, Yumiko, retrieved me. She expertly honed in on my problem areas before she began working on me. My shoulders were very tight and in pain while she worked on them. I heard my spine pop a few times. It's that moment of "Ahh..." when the pockets of tension you didn't know about are released and you wonder how much you were low grade suffering in daily life without realizing. I signed up for the lomi lomi massage, which I've never had before. I'm not sure if the hot towel treatment is part of every massage they do here but it's a nice touch that helps undo the knots. It's like Uilani thought of every little thing to help you relax beyond the massage itself. The massage cot can be adjusted to a seated position, which is how my massage ended. It's like they're easing you back into being vertical again. The experience continues: You go back to the lounge where you sip iced tea and eat a small crunchy snack before you leisurely make your way back to the locker room for a hot shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, a blow dryer, Q-tips... all provided for you. You're not rushed to pay and get out. This place is about 50% more than another place where i had a one year membership, but all the little touches they use to enhance your relaxation and enjoyment make the experience so relaxing. You didn't just get a massage, you got a full relaxing experience.

I got the Lomi Lomi modality and it was simply wonderful. There's also a steam room and showers, so you can use those facilities beforehand or afterwards to further decompress!

What I enjoyed: The therapists were very professional and respectful of our preferences. They sent a questionnaire ahead of time to understand what we wanted, and when I emailed with some additional requests, they were able to accommodate everything, which I really appreciated. The massage room itself was beautiful, with a big bathtub for a coconut bath after the treatment and its own bathroom. The amenities were great too: snacks, drinks, fruits, a dry sauna, steam sauna, and a waiting lounge overlooking the ocean with lay-down chairs. The lounge wasn't busy at all, and you could easily spend an hour there relaxing. Booking was easy via email and the staff was very responsive. Valet parking is included. What could've been better: The jacuzzi was out of order during our visit, and I wasn't informed ahead of time. I had to ask for a prorated rate, and the person checking us out initially didn't want to give the discount until their manager stepped in. For a big hotel-affiliated spa, I expected better communication and consistency on something like this. The showers also ran out of bath products (either shampoo or body wash), and the locker area was missing some amenities I'd expect at this price point, like makeup remover and skincare beyond generic body lotion. I also had trouble getting a receipt with my name on it initially, though they eventually sent one. One other thing to note: the spa is right above the hotel beach and pool area, so you can hear people rather than just ocean waves or spa music. It didn't bother me too much, but it's something to be aware of if you're expecting total tranquility. Despite these issues, it was still a wonderful experience and I'd recommend it for a special occasion!

The Alana location has a nicer ambiance overall, but the Hobron location has soothing vibes once inside as well. Have been coming here since 2020. Initially I saw Jackie, but sadly (for me), she moved (but congrats to her on taking some big steps in her life and career *heart*). Since then, I've been seeing Mel, the owner, for regular sports/deep tissue massage. She always makes sure to check in regarding how my body is feeling, specific areas to focus on or avoid, etc before having me disrobe. She does a great job of addressing my areas of concern as she progresses through the massage. Her firm pressure, attention to trigger points, and thorough technique always leave me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated whether I'm dealing with surfing soreness/injury or office worker related tightness. If you're looking for a therapeutic massage, this is the place to go!

I came because I am certified in Sarga Bodywork (a style of barefoot massage); however, I have never received it myself since I learned it online, so I wanted to finally experience it myself after doing it for 3 years! I live in CA and not many people do it out there, at least anywhere close to me. I'm on vacation in HI for the first time and was blessed to see that several places offer it out here, walking distance from where I'm staying! Sayuri used a blend of techniques including (but not limited to) Sarga, ashiatsu, and Thai, with lots of hot towels and aromatherapy. It was amazing because I could really tell that she put her full heart, body and soul into it, as well as 100% of her presence. You can always feel when a therapist is just going through the motions and not really there with you, even if they're physically there. That full presence makes all the difference in a massage. My previously tight body feels so amazing right now, and I wish it would stay this way forever! I feel like jello! I'm sad that I don't live in Hawaii because if I did I would come see her often. I felt so relaxed during it that I caught myself drooling at one point lol. PLEASE go see Sayuri if you want to have a magical experience. She made day 1 of my first time in Hawaii even more magical than it already is, and I will always remember this massage!!! Thank you Sayuri!

I'm a big girl (about 220) and was nervous about going because I was feeling self conscious about being naked, but I'm glad I did it anyway! There was a bit of a language barrier between myself and the woman providing the services I booked, but the woman that checked me in speaks English and was able to help me if I couldn't mime my way through something. I booked the Makaloa Special Treatment and was absolutely not disappointed. I'd never had a body wrap before or a hair treatment or a facial treatment like that and I feel like this is what luxury feels like. I'm already a fan of a full body scrub, the wrap had me smelling like strawberry pop tarts in the best way, the face mask was interesting because it was quite cool going on like a gel and the solidified, then she pealed it off, my skin all over is so incredibly soft. It's a really good value for the price. 10/10 recommend!

For me, I expect more if I'm paying a total of $187 for a 60-minute massage. FACILITY: There's a utilitarian wet sauna (e.g., no aromatherapy), dry sauna, and hot & cold pools inside; a small lounge area is outside with what appears to be a jacuzzi. I say "appears" because I just happened to notice the jets. There was no sign identifying it or explaining how to turn it on. The wet sauna was off and there was no sign explaining how to turn that on, either. PERSONAL AMENITIES: You're given a nice robe and one towel. I was only told to bring a bathing suit, so I was expecting disposal spa slippers. Nope. I had to walk everywhere barefooted, including the locker area where people (naturally) had walked in their outside shoes. Ugh. You could pick up a small tube of hand/body lotion, a small shaving kit (disposable razor & tube of generic shaving cream) and/or a small vanity kit (tiny nail file, cotton swabs & cotton pad) at the sinks. There were no snacks or even drinking water available unless you had a massage -- then you were given a bottle of water when it was over. MASSAGE: This is the first time I thought to myself, while getting a massage, "This woman could easily kill me with her bare hands!" Her hands were that strong. She'd asked me if I wanted my massage "hard" or "soft," and I replied, "medium, and we'll see how that goes." Well, it went very painfully at times -- I had to tell her repeatedly to go softer. It's a week later and my shoulders still hurt with certain movements. SERVICE: The receptionist (the only person always onsite; the masseusses and such are called in when needed) was not very gracious when I asked her how to turn on the wet sauna and only reluctantly went back and did it ... so I didn't bother to request her help to use the jacuzzi. Clear communication, in general, was lacking. For one, I was told on the phone that a bathing suit was necessary for the saunas, but once I got there, was told I could choose to just wear a towel. I've read the other reviews, and I see that they offer a kamaaina discount. No one told me that, even though I said at multiple points (on the phone and onsite) that I lived in the neighborhood. BOTTOM LINE: I'll try some other day spa next time I want to pamper myself.
