Earlier this summer Mira went on an extended trip, so I have had the opportunity to try out other ladies at YBZ and I am so impressed with their roster of talent (I already knew that Mira was phenomenal!) Today I had a mani with Nastya and it was excellent !! The design I had in mind had tons of colors, was a little complicated and I wanted to tweak it a bit and she spent a good bit of time with me picking out the perfect colors to bring my vision (well, insta's vision) to life. I was really looking forward to my first Russian manicure, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. When I initially texted the salon, I inquired about a refill but I ultimately decided on a full set because I noticed several nails lifting. I booked a "hard gel full set" and called the salon prior to my appointment to confirm that removal of my existing set was included. I was assured that it was. At check-in today, I asked again and the receptionist confirmed removal was included. However, once the service began, they refused to remove my existing set--even after I repeatedly asked. Instead, they insisted on working over a set that was done at a different salon, saying it would "save me money" and that my current set still looked good. I never asked to save money and did not want to work over my current set. While, I appreciate them giving me the option to keep my current set, it's ultimately my choice if I want to keep the set or remove it. The pricing is clearly listed on their website, and I booked accordingly and paid the $90 deposit. I knew that I'd be paying more for a full set. I specifically wanted a completely fresh set to start the new year, which is why I booked this appointment in the first place. Additionally, one of my cuticles was cut too deeply and it's bleeding. On a positive note, I did receive the color I requested, and the gel application itself was neat. TikTok encouraged me to try a Russian Manicure and I am so glad I did! This salon is modern, clean, and overall has a great vibe. While I've tried various nail-masters, Laya has completed my last two sets and I have been 1000% satisfied. Since coming here, the strength of my nails has improved so much! The length, health and overall retention is great. On average, my nails last between 4-6 weeks between each set compared to the 2 week fill needed with a gel-mani. Second time here and I love this spot. I have gone to 5+ nail salons in the Arlington area and all of them rush you, hurt you, and disappoint you- not Yolo beauty. The pricier tag equals a better nail and great art work if you like designs. They don't skip out on your cuticles and they really meticulously shape your nails to perfection. They do offer tea/coffee/water if you'd like as well. I get extensions on my nails and they use high quality nail extensions (the clear ones not the crappy ones) and cure the nails well. They also tell you you can come back at any time for a nail fix if one breaks. The process is lengthy (2 hours if fake nail set) but so worth it. The women known how to rock the art work here- I saw the woman next to me get this awesome like 3D like artwork on her hand that matched her inspo picture perfectly, which is so rare for this area. This is definitely a pricier nail service. I've gotten the hard gel overlay 3x and a deluxe pedicure twice. I don't know if I will get consistent pedicures here (only because of the price and since regular salon gel pedis work). But if price is not an issue, the services are great. My nails look amazing and last for over 4 weeks. If I could function with my nails long I could probably wait longer! Yasmin is amazing and very kind. She always helps me find nail colors that work for my skin tone but still achieve the look I want! My nails have never been so even with flawless finish! This was my first pedicure with yolo and I was so excited. I booked with Iman and everything started off great. She used an e file on the bottom of my foot to remove dead skin cells which led to THREE CUTS on my right foot. The one on my heel is the deepest and there are 2 smaller ones. She said sorry and cleaned it up with alcohol but it really burned! I asked what they could do about this and they gave me a courteous $10 off. As I walked around the rest of the day I noticed how much my foot hurt. It's the next day and it's still so sensitive, due to the depth and size of the cut. I understand mistakes happen but I will not be going to Iman again. read more

Exclusively coming here for the last year, my mom is a regular now as well. My nails are *perfect* EVERY time and last for up to, most of the time over a month without chipping. They keep up to date with trends, do beautiful designs and are really passionate about what colors and shapes are right for you. Looking back, while all the girls are *great*, I recommend booking a top master your first time. Also, this is not a quick manicure, I always make sure I have two full hours of availability. If you're doing nails and toes, you need to plan to be there 4 hours. I *always* bring my headphones and listen to audiobooks/watch YouTube while I'm there. Also, while I do believe they take walk ins i highly recommend making an appointment as far out as possible. I'd say 3 weeks in advance or more to be safe. Also, PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE TO YOUR APPOINTMENT! Because the process is so long and they are always booked and busy, it throws the girls off for the rest of the day! They do not rush, they are precise and pay extreme attention to detail! Capricorns and Virgos need only to get their nails done here. Other places in the area have raised their prices but quality, customer service and skills have decreased. Not here! These women are *consistent*. Love YOLO. I've been going for about a year and a half ever since I came to DC. I come and see Mira. She's the best and super flexible with timing. I'm very aware how picky I am and she always does a perfect job. They grow out beautifully and I go about every four weeks. I can't say enough about this amazing nail salon. First of all my nails have never been stronger! I've gone to Asian salons for most of my life, but when I was introduced to Russian manicure, I never looked back. All the technicals at Yolo are very very detailed when it comes to cuticle care, nail shape and color application. I typically see Jamila, Maria, Gangina and Anna and these ladies are perfectionist. My manicure lasts 4 weeks, but I have gone up to 5 and even 6 weeks in between appointments. The salon is modern, clean, with friendly staff and ambience. Before finding Yolo Beauty Zone, I was never fully satisfied with how my nails looked when I got them done... the shapes were never 100% perfect (I understand that's a high ask) and then they'd look worn out 1 week in. Not to mention.. when I tried SNS my nails out constantly break and were paper thin.. but just gel wasn't strong enough. Enter Yolo Beauty Zone.. every time I leave my nails look perfect. They pay attention to every little detail, use a stronger base coat so "just gel" is strong enough and allow for your natural nail to grow (yes all pictures are my real nail). I went here excited to experience the Russian manicure which is supposed to be superior to traditional nail salon services. Huge disappointment!!! My appointment was with Yarlenis who kept me waiting for 20 minutes while she finished another client. Then she took her sweet time taking photos of that clients nails while I waited. Then she refused to cut my long nails down to the length I wanted and did a very poor job pushing my cuticles back. She was short with me, rolled her eyes and shrugged at me when I explained I wanted my nails shorter. It was the worst customer service I've ever experienced! I spoke to a manager or someone by phone because I obviously didn't want to complete the service. She did promptly process a refund. I later emailed the complete experience to them and Djamilea responded back saying that the nail tech was upset as if EYE did something wrong! It was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Went for a mani/pedi based on the amazing reviews and was deeply disappointed. Initially they suggested that I get both services at the same time (not very relaxing) which I refused as I booked the times separately. They did take their time with each service but I found the manicure station to be dirty, there was nail polish dried on the white counter and they didn't clean the hand rest before laying my hands on it. Additionally, she drew blood while using the machine on my cuticles. The pedicure was OK, no massage as I am used to but within 2 days my toe nails were cracked (never has happened before) and the tips of each of my toes were white with no polish. For the price that they charge, I expected an amazing experience, which I did not get. When I called to ask for a refund, they did have the owner give me a call, which I appreciate. She shared with me that I was being "unfair" by saying the place was dirty and that she could not refund the cost of the pedicure as she had already paid her technician. In her defense she did offer to redo the pedicure but I am not comfortable going back as the place is small, dirty and very crowded, not comfortable in post Covid times. read more

I've never been so conflicted about a business as I am about Yolo beauty zone. I've given them two stars, because on the one hand, they've given me some of the best, most beautiful manicures of my life (see picture 2). On the other hand, I have so many problems with the way they run their salon: if you're three minutes late, they blow up your phone wanting to know where you are, but they have no issues making you wait 15, 20, 25 minutes if they're running behind; I've spent literally thousands of dollars there in the last seven months (and their services are extremely expensive) yet, as another reviewer said, they always act like they've never seen me before; they demand 24 hours notice to cancel your appointment with no fee but won't give you the same courtesy if they need to cancel. For awhile I've had mixed feelings but was willing to "take the bad with the good" because of how great my nails looked. My most recent experience was so disappointing: $75 for a rushed appointment for a regular manicure - to accommodate another client they booked back-to-back - and two thick polish coats, yet no topcoat, which immediately smeared after I left the salon despite following my technician's instructions to wait 10 minutes for the polish to dry. Now three hours after the appointment ended, the polish is STILL not fully dry. Not only that, but my technician spent my entire appointment criticizing how thin and brittle my nails are, despite the fact that I have quite literally only had Yolo gel manicures for the last seven months. Go in with your eyes wide open: your nails will (probably) look great, but be prepared to pay A LOT of money for unfriendly service and get gel polish (which cures under UV light). read more

I love this salon. I first started getting "russian manicures" at their first location, Shape of Nails, in Herndon and was sold on the procedure. This location is bigger, prettier, and offers the same quality of care. I love that I can set up an appointment online and I love that there is such an active instagram account providing updates and cute nail ideas. The russian style manicure is different if you've never had it, but in my opinion it is light years better than other methods. My nails are stronger than ever, and I have never once had the gel lift, peel, or crack (other than me accidentally cracking it when doing hard manual labor at work). It lasts forever, is sleek and beautiful, and the process doesn't require you to soak your hands for a ridiculous amount of time or deal with constant scraping with harsh metal tools. The women who run these salons are obviously extremely talented, they know their trade, and they're professional and diligent business women. The place is always clean and they pay close attention to COVID guidelines. I've had my nails or toes done by several different technicians: Djamila, Alina, Gangina, Julia, Maria, and Tamara. It might seem a little more expensive than the gel manicures you're used to these days, but it is 100% worth it. read more

For a manicure that costs $100-115, everyone would expect excellence, but it was not the case. There were a lot of cuticles flooding on most of my nails. Wanted to try a Russian manicure for the first time and I'm so glad I did. It is quite expensive but the results have lasted. I am currently at just over two weeks and I already have my next appointments scheduled for me being four weeks out. Was able to get a very natural looking nail. The durability of my nail has held up very well compared to when I go to normal nail salons. I was able to get in pretty easily later evening as the nail technician wanted to take one more client for the night. If you have not tried a Russian Mani, I would highly suggest it as they are extremely talented and can do pretty much any design. I paid $130 before tip. I do have to say that my cuticles did bleed, which I feel like should not happen. Also, after two weeks, I can see that my cuticles may have not had 100% attention for the hour and a half I was there. I ended up having to redo my cuticles myself at two weeks. read more

I followed Jamila, my awesome tech from Shape of Nails to her new place YOLO which happens to be sister company of Shape of Nails. It's spacious and in a great location. Even though it's a farther drive from me, I don't mind because it's worth the service I recieve! All the girls from receptionist to the techs are sweet and attentive.
