A pretty run of the mill froyo shop convenient to shopping and restaurants around. There's some decent variety there in terms of flavors, about 8-10 or so. One thing we noted is that they had a lot of non traditional flavors like mango sorbet, taro, etc which was cool to see. The toppings are good with probably close to 20+ different varieties so you can mix and match what you get. We opted for a chocolate froyo with Nutella and cookie bits as well as a mango/taro froyo with strawberry boba and cheesecake bits. Both came out to about $16 which felt pretty cheap to be honest with you. We went on a weekday after work and it was very quick and clean. The froyo itself was pretty good but unfortunately melted very quickly (it was 96 degrees that day so not their fault). I popped into Yogurt Planet while I waited to check in for the Yelp event. Although I am the Domain quite frequently, I never noticed Yogurt Plant. The yogurt shop was right next door to the Battle of Games interactive games locations. I needed just something small and sweet to eat. I selected the Mango Tango yogurt, which was 76c per ounce. A tiny bit went a long ways. It was mango forward and refreshing. In addition, I did like that you could mix flavors to your heart's content. There were a plethora of toppings to choose from. However, I opted to have no toppings as i was semi-full and did not want to overeat. There was one family in the restaurant. Overall, it was very slow in the restaurant and laid-back. I was having a pretty terrible day, so I turned to this frozen yogurt to cheer me up... and this yogurt made the day worse. Tears started welling in the corners of my eyes on my way to the car. So disappointed, lol. The consistency of the yogurt is terrible. I got the original tart and it tasted like a watered down icy tart sorbet instead of like a creamy thick tart frozen yogurt. Very good yogurt spot located by the domain. They have a lot of good flavors to choose from, the toppings bar is pretty great too. They charge you $.65 an ounce so be very careful when pouring and serving yourself because everything counts. The good: It's clean The bad: They keep the bathroom locked because they don't want to be bothered with keeping it clean. There is loud obnoxious music blaring which is out of place for a fro-yo establishment and makes conversation difficult. The man behind the counter is often in the back, treats customers with indifference, and open carries pepper spray on his shoulder. At least one, usually two, yogurt machines are always out of service. The flavors are watered down and the yogurt is crunchy not creamy. read more

I recently discovered my unhealthy craving for frozen yogurt, and Yogurt Planet is my go-to. It's inside the Domain, so it's convenient and close to my apartment. I love their flavors. I usually go for their fruit flavors and classic tart, and the consistency and texture is what frozen yogurt should have. They also have a wide variety of toppings, but I only go for fruits and popping boba. I'm not sure how their prices compare to other frozen yogurt places, but I can fill up a cup and pay about $7-9. Considering how heavy fruit pieces are, I'd say that's decent pricing. read more

In the hot summer of Austin, felt burnt while shopped in Domainia. The best way to keep cool in Domainia is to get a cup of fruity yogurt from yogurt planet. Yogurt planet is pretty small, but they also have outdoor patios to watch fountains. I like every flavors of their yogurt: blueberry, strawberry, banana, pomegranate, etc. The best thing they served is the all kinds of fresh fruits as toppings. My favorite fruits there are Leeches, Longan, raspberry and mango. The process is very simple. You pick up a paper cup and squeeze different yogurt to your cup, then walk to toppings section, and scoop fruits, nuts and chocolates on top of your yogurt. They are open for self-service! Flavors rotate frequently and lots of topping options. I believe the rate might've been 50 something cents per ounce. Austin doesn't really have many self service frozen yogurt places so you can't really complain if you're craving yourself some fro-yo. Went here on a whim and I'm so glad I did! They let you sample any of their yogurts using a tiny cup. I tried taro, red velvet, cake batter, raspberry. Taro was the winner (I love love love taro sweets - mochi, bubble tea, and now frozen yogurt!) It was so creamy and delicious! Imagine taro bubble tea in frozen yogurt form. If only they had red beans as a topping Just grab a cup and dispense the amount of yogurt you want. Note: their smallest cup is not that small, so filling it to max capacity will cost you. They then have various toppings you can add on such as candies, brownie bites, fresh fruit, sprinkles, juicy gels, etc. Lots of variety to choose from. I went with lychee, some shredded coconut, whipped cream, and some juicy gels. I filled my cup pretty modestly, maybe about 1/3. That and the toppings cost me $3.50. Pretty sweet! If you're on the south side of the mall where the dancing fountain is, close to Dillard's, you're almost there. It's across from the Stride Right store. They have the same set-up as most yogurt shops around town: self-serve, $0.39/oz, 8-10 flavors, with toppers like fruit, candy, cookies, and syrups. The new-to-me options were Asian red beans, lychee, and some other similar-to-lychee fruit. They also had cool little chocolate waffle cone bits and my favorite luxe topper -- cheesecake bites. Sadly, no mini-semi-sweet choco chips, though. Nice touch: a clean unisex bathroom for customers (so you can skip the mall bathroom outside and conveniently wash your hands both before & after you eat if you're a germ freak like me). read more

Went here for the first time while visiting " The Domain" for the first time. It wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. The shop itself was kind of warm inside and stuffy. The gentleman that worked the cash register was not friendly at all. In fact there were four of us and I had to ask for each tester cup one by one. I felt like I had done something wrong, he was weird about giving them to us. Very strange exchange. Hands down BEST TOPPINGS I've seen at a yogurt place. I felt like a little kid (as is also evidenced from my animal cracker/chocolate brownie-among-other-toppings pic). Amazing flavors and toppings! I decided to give Yogurt Planet a try after trying another yogurt spot in town and being disappointed. The young man working was extremely nice and attentive. I walked in and was immediately greeted and noted he was cleaning the toppings bar area and keeping everything spotless. I was impressed by the variety of flavors and they had my favorite topping (fruity pebbles) so extra points for Yogurt Planet! The reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is that they never seem to have the flavor pistachio! This is the best flavor ever and I can't comprehend why they wouldn't ALWAYS have that just like they ALWAYS have the not so delicious flavors like the original tart. As you can tell, I take my fro-yo pretty darn seriously because I consider myself somewhat of a fro-yo expert (yes, we do exist). I do have to say that this chain is hands down the BEST fro-yo place in Austin. I've only been to this one and the one in the Triangle and they both rocked my world. Who knew Frozen Yogurt had come so far? I last ate it sometime in the early 90s at one of those acronym shops. I am really impressed with this Yogurt Planet! Self serve with HUGE cups! For those of us with no self control, this is dangerous. And the flavors are amazing! Pomegranate, cookies and cream, and CAKE BATTER! Holy enzymes Batman! YUMMMY! Even the toppings are self serve! The vast selection of toppings easily beats the famous ice cream places around here that offer "mix ins." No way to mix in like that here. BUT you can just add some on the bottom of your cup first, then add yogurt, and add more to the top. Or repeat the steps a few times for a layered effect! So what were my toppings? Gummi bears, Heath, Butterfinger and cherries . . . I think I did pretty well. The total was only around $6. Great selection, fun concept, friendly staff member. Yikes! Yes, the froyo here is absolutely superb, silky smooth and creamy, and deserves an extra star for that. I also counted 45 different toppings, with an extra assortment of sprinkles and syrups. There's no reason this place shouldn't get an automatic four or five star review from me, except I thought this Yogurt Planet had all the personality of your average morgue. Seriously, I've been incarcerated in places that were more charming than this place. I'm not saying all froyo places should feel like Disneyworld, I just dislike feeling that I'm simply another buck to some franchise pushing out product, especially when it's as non-essential as frozen yogurt. Maybe I'm spoiled by the dozen other froyo places in town where I don't feel that way. Maybe it's totally insignificant to the corporate mindset. Maybe I'll spend the $10 for the two of us elsewhere. Now I'm mildly curious what the other two Yogurt Planets in town are like. I really think they make some great froyo here, and you may personally find this particular location the most personable place in The Domain. I went here on a Sunday evening with my family (4 adults, 1 kid, 1 baby). PROS: Good yogurt, variety, toppings variety I've been to many of the self-serve yogurt places in town and this is one of the better ones. I think they were 6-8 machines, so 12-16 flavors. They had a lot more toppings than other places and had things like lychee and logan fruit, which is awesome with the plain tart. Everything looked fresh and clean and well stocked. CONS: Crappy service/management The self-serve places I've been to usually give you a small sample cup and allow you to sample various flavors before you grab a cup and fill it up with your favorite. Not Yogurt Planet. According to the employee who worked there who came up to us, Yogurt Planet's policy is you are allowed only 1 flavor to try, then you gotta grab a cup and buy it to try the flavors. WTF? I don't want to load my cup with crap flavors without tasting first. I get it that some people come in, try a ton of flavors with their sample cup and leave. But try things like: - Not allowing self-serve - Charge per sample - Have an attendee get the sample for you - Make a sign for your policy If you don't like it, don't piss off your paying customers, do something about it! After we paid, while we were eating, my baby nephew wanted his own little sample cup with some yogurt in it. Like 0.12 ounces of yogurt (a nickel?). The 2 ladies at the counter start starting at us and gives us that "criminal-you-broke-the-law" look. Very uncomfortable and I just paid $25+ for our yogurts. I'm not trying to rob the damn place! So yes, awful customer service wins ruins it again. If you like to be discriminated and hounded for pennies, this is your place. It's a shame, would've loved to come back for more, but not until they fix their "policy". read more

Personally I love the cookies 'n cream and the red velvet cake. I could eat that stuff all day. I used to think the toppings were just gimmicky, but now I go nuts. Some yogurt chips, heath bar pieces, cookie bits, caramel, chocolate....mmmmmMMmm. Granted, when I go to Yogurt Planet, I'm looking to satisfy my sweet tooth, but you can go the healthy route. They have some non-fat yogurt options available and a whole bunch of fruit toppings: mango, banana, strawberry, pineapple, and even a bunch of fruits I've never heard of. Paying by the ounce is just awesome. No more $1 per topping--you get what you want when you come here. The only downside about this location is that when compared to the store at the Triangle, the parking is further away and the inside is a bit smaller. read more

I really love yogurt planet! I think what I love most about this place is the simplicity of the entire process. You walk in, grab a cup, pick your flavor of frozen yogurt (there are many different flavors to choose from) and you can put as many different flavors and as much as you want in your cup! Then comes my favorite part. You get to pile your cup high with the hundreds of toppings they offer. Some I never considered as toppings - but seemed yummy once I stared down at the naked frozen swirl in my cup. Be careful though, the more toppings = more weight = more $$. This happens to me quite often but it never breaks the bank. Another great thing about this place: it stays open pretty late to satisfy the late night sweet tooth or, a great second stop after a dinner or movie date. I would give 5 stars but was a bit turned off by the new $3 minimum on credit cards - this is annoying because I never carry cash, and it forces me to add more weight to my cup - but eh, I can get over that. This place absolutely blows other frozen yogurt places out of the water. It's not close enough to home to be my #1 place, but it might be a must-stop-at whenever we're at the Domain. :) They have a large selection of yogurt flavors. I've only been there once, but I presume they switch up flavors periodically like the other places in town do. I went with my old standby, plain tart (it's a blank canvas, baby!), and added a smidgen of pomegranate. Mmmm, tasty. They have a far broader selection of toppings than most froyo places. Fruit both mundane (strawberry, banana) and exotic (lychee, pomegranate), cheesecake, brownie, mochi, chocolate chips, nuts, cereal, assorted candy, several flavored syrups including Ghirardelli chocolate.... soooooo tasty. I'm getting sugar cravings just thinking about it. Ignore the cold(ish) weather and go get some yogurt! read more
