Taiwanese beef noodle soup
Catherine S.

I have a lot of friends who love Yogi's noodles So i decided to give it a try for a quick lunch. I ordered a Shanghai noodle soup off a picture menu and what I got looked totally different. No matter, I figured it's a bowl of noodles and I was getting a chance to try something new. The broth was your basic beef broth similar to the Taiwanese braised beef noodle broth. The meat and the tendon needed to be braised linger as it was still pretty chewy and difficult to eat. The noodles were perhaps the least favorite part about this dish as it was thick and cooked unevenly which made the whole bowl just unenjoyable. Maybe this was an off day for Yogi's but I don't think I would go out of my way to eat here again.

On the way to pickup a few bakery items at the Aromaz bakery next-door, I decided to order takeout for dinner at Yogi's Noodle. They offer a wide selection of dishes and I ordered enough for the family to be satisfied. -Curry Chicken and Potato on Rice -Fish with Tomato on Rice* -Beef with Rice Noodle* -Mixed Vegetables with garlic* Most customers adhered to protocols in place such as stickers on the floor to indicate where to stand in line to place an order, and allowing customers to keep a safe distance. The food court area in front of each establishment was very well organized.

Eggplant and beef on rice noodles, side of soup

One of the many Chartwell foodcourt food stalls. This one is always mysteriously low traffic despite the lowest prices of the stalls. Decided to try the eggplant and beef on rice noodles, and it's decent value, roughly $8.50 after tax. The meal came fast, in like 5 mins. I did come just after the dinner rush, so the kitchen was probably still well prepared for new orders. The eggplant and beef main is awesome and exactly what you expect. The let down is that, of course, the meal is 80% rice noodle filling. Normally that isn't bad but the rice noodles alone were really bland, not nearly enough sauce to coat them. The soup was lovely though! That classic "we've been boiling this for 5 days straight and it's still going" type of soup you'd find at these places. If soup isn't your thing, the alternative to the soup is a soy milk. Overall, not great but not terrible either. It's very compatible to its neighbours (at least based on what I tried) and at a slightly lower price point. Check out the wonders of the Chartwell foodcourt if you're in the area!

Yogi's Noodle has been inside the Chartwell Shopping Centre food court for as long as I remember. Serving classic HK style fare such as baked and fried rice, stir fried and soup noodles, the list goes on and on. It's been a while since I've eaten here as my go to place is Hong Kong Style Tea and Fast Food a couple of kiosks down. Food is pretty solid here. Food comes out quick and hot. Today I ordered the Baked Fried Fish Fillet with a Spinach White Cream Sauce on Rice and it quite good. Still prefer the food at HK Tea and Fast Food but there is a lot more variety at Yogi's. Service was very good and polite. They can be very busy during lunch and dinner rush but they do take call ins. Good job!

My parents love coming here just cause it's cheap and you get plenty of food with what you pay for. I would say service is fast. You order and wait for less than 5 mins to get your food. I mean it's fast food so that's not too surprising. I ordered this baked cheese cream spaghetti with ham and chicken. In my opinion it was not good, the spaghetti was too dry as all the sauce were on top. I also think there weren't enough sauce. My parents got rice with chicken cutlet and it was good. I'll probably get something else next time.

Quick, Fast, Cheap! Sometimes that's what one needs. Yogi's Noodle located in the food court of Chartwell Centre. Lunch Specials? Afternoon Tea set? Beef Ball Noodle with Drink ($4.50) though is on the smallish side but great if you want a snack. A lot of choices to choose from. There's a reason that it still in business after all these years!

Beef congee with chow mein

Was planning to be in the Chartwell area and decided to give the food court a chance. Yogi's Noodle is pretty much wall to wall of menus in both English and Chinese, some with pictures and some without. They have a few combo items and I can't say no to options ever. I went with a meal that came with a beef congee and chow mein. I convinced my partner to get the preserved egg and shredded pork congee that was accompanied by a fried dough stick and plain rice noodles topped with a light sauce and sesame seeds ($6.50). We waited a decent amount of time for our food. It was probably about 15 minutes? I saw people order and get their food from some of the other stands faster. They don't give you a number or call out a name so just listen for your order and look out for extreme eye contact. The price could not be beat for the meals that we had. Both bowls of congee were huge. It was also a super thick congee which was only bad because it was also steaming hot so it took a longgg time for me to be able to eat it comfortably. The soy sauce chow mein was a great compliment. It was salty and went great with the congee. The beef in the congee was pretty tender and I never had any issues with any tough pieces. I swapped meals partway through. I appreciated that the preserved egg pieces were tastefully small since it can be a little intense sometimes. The pork pieces were salty and added to the congee which could be a little plain. The fried dough stick was very, very oily. We tried to pat it down with the limited napkins that we were given but they were even oily on the inside. After I dipped it in the congee I could see the beads of oil from the stick floating on the surface of the congee. The rice noodle could have used a bit more sauce. I would have loved for it to be in some sort of peanut sauce.

15 min wait for Hainan chicken
Alex C.

Maybe they had an off day or I am expecting too much. .. I asked them what dish was quick and fast. So Hainan chicken it would be. 15 min later, the dish was presented. The rice was plentiful but overly oily and tasteless. The chicken was half of a leg quarter... wtf? I know prices have gone up but not by that much for you to cut back THAT much. Anyways. The chicken was the tofu North American breed, very well done and void of any flavor(s). The soy milk had more flavor than the 2. I will pass on this place going forward as there are other selections beside that cater more for my taste.

The tofu is decently tender, small pieces of minced pork and a savory spicy sauce on a whole container of rice. 4.5/5. Eggplant with minced pork in spicy sauce on rice. The flavor on this is on point with a nice sweet and hint of spicy sauces. Eggplant is cooked well as is the meat. Sits on a giant bed of rice. 4/5 Rice noodles with sliced pork. The rice noodles are cooked well and the sliced pork is incredibly tender. There's bean sprouts and onions and green onions though I feel the onions may have been a tad undercooked. Still for the amount of food and flavor, it's great. 5/5. Price: Each dish came in around 6-7$ which is crazy cheap considering the amount of food you get. Don't expect any super high quality ingredients but this is your cheap and quick takeout that will fill you up.

Pork with Crab Meat Steamed Bun D7: Pork and Celery Dumpling (boiled) P1: Pan fried pot stickers N3: Braised beef brisket noodles C11: Black fungus in vinegar sauce Food came fast, and our small table got full of food!! EVERYTHING was great. I love the wrapper of each dumplings, each has own "wheat-y flavor" itself. Each dumpling wrapper hits a perfect thickness/thinness. And they were flawlessly/carefully cooked - boiled/steamed to achieve soft and chewy texture, pan fried to execute crispy, soft and chewy texture. The each filling hits perfect seasoning balance - and juicy! Delicious! B12 Crab XLB & P1 Pot stickers are the must-order items. If you don't know which dumpling to try, then I highly recommend D7 (Celery and Pork, boiled). Juicy with this refreshing crunchy celery texture and gentle grassy aroma. Full of juice! Careful :) N3 noodle was also tasty and generous. The noodle texture was chewy and had a nice bite. A LOT of meat pieces. Last but not the least - C11, black fungus was soooo refreshing. Every bite was enjoyable. Very mildly seasoned with vinegar based dressing and garlic, mixed with freshly chopped coriander. Simple and delicate, showing their culinary confidence. I will come back, I cannot wait to try other dumplings!

Based on previous Yelp reviews, the quality is inconsistent. Today, it ranged from outstanding to acceptable. I was one of a group of four, and we arrived around 5:15 p.m. for an early dim sum dinner. The decor was clean, comfortable and a bit dated. Two of my dining companions had been coming to Perfect since childhood, and the slightly worn decor was, for them, traditional and comforting as a pair of old slippers. As long-time visitors, they had some recommendations to make: we ordered Shiu Mai and Har Gow (as usual), steamed BBQ Pork Bun, Steamed Glutinous Rice, Pea's Green Shrimp Dumpling, Beef Ball, Deep Fried Squid and Cheung Fun (Rice Roll) with Shrimp and Leek. Here's my rating /5: 5/5: Har Gow; Cheung Fun; Pea's Green Shrimp Dumpling 4/5: Beef Ball; Deep Fried Squid; Shiu Mai, Steamed Glutinous Rice 3.5/5: Steamed BBQ Pork Bun The Har Gow, Cheung Fun and Shrimp Dumpling all featured a translucent, starchy dough. At worst, this dough can be too chewy or too thick but tonight, at Perfect Chinese, it was indeed perfect, and beautifully translucent, allowing the colors of the fillings to shine through. The Pea's Green Shrimp Dumplings were particularly beautiful. They tasted as good as they looked, with the fresh taste of the pea greens complimenting the shrimp. The Har Gow were plump, generous and the shrimp was nicely cooked, not at all rubbery or tough. The Cheung Fun was also excellent, beautifully complemented by the slightly warm, sweet soy sauce. The Beef Ball was beautifully aromatic and well seasoned, but I would have preferred them to be a bit more tender and less bouncy in texture, and otherwise would have been 5/5 for flavour. However, this could be how the texture is meant to be. The other 4.5 dishes were excellent, but not outstanding. The Steamed Pork Bun was very good, but I wish the BBQ pork filling had been more generous. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and our food arrived in a timely fashion. However it was, at times, difficult to get the attention of waitstaff. At 5:15, parking was plentiful, but the lot is rather small, and I could see the possibility that at popular times, such as weekend brunch, it could be tight. The Perfect Chinese Restaurant takes both cash and cards, and is conveniently located near Highway 401. In short, the Perfect Chinese Restaurant is ambitious, well-established, open all the time, possibly inconsistent, fairly priced, and offers a very good dim sum, among other options. Come here for the Dim Sum, for sure. You can satisfy your Dim Sum craving night and day!! Worth noting: they offer a whole Peking Duck for a very reasonable price, they offer a rather pricey Crab Claw Hors D'oeuvre that my dining companions raved about, and they have a good selection of fresh seafood. I saw a number of tables ordering the lobster. Next time, I will check out some of their seafood offerings and some of their other dim sum selections. I've also heard some good things about their noodle dishes.
