The dim sum at Perfect Chinese Restaurant was mediocre in terms of quality and taste. The rice rolls were quite tasty though. The service was quick, though the servers forgot to bring the chicken feet. We had to remind the waitress that we ordered the chicken feet. The atmosphere is quite casual and it's a decent place to bring your family, though I would normally prefer a nicer ambiance compared to this.

Perfect Chinese Restaurant has been a Scarborough institution since 1984, serving up Cantonese dishes 24hrs a day. I've been here many times over the years, whether for dim sum, lunch, dinner, or late night after-party dining. The craving always gets satisfied! This time around, with family, we came for dim sum, and we stuffed ourselves! We had all our usual favourites - har gow, sui mai, pork ribs with black beans, bean curd rolls, and more, much more! It was all good and we were stuffed! With most dishes costing around $5.00, this is one of the least expensive dim sum places around. Check them out, any time of day!

That's the pork that was supposed to be suckling. I ate the skin and threw away the rest. Cheaters!

I bought 2 orders of suckling pig which cost $54.50. When I got home I realized they gave me regular pork which was hard and the skin was not crispy. Called them back, they said I can bring it back. I spent 27$ on an Uber, so I couldn't go back to get a refund, to be charged 27$ for another Uber. They lied and gave me regular pork, for suckling. So disappointing I jut threw 54.$ in the garbage. It was so bad I couldn't eat it. The serving size was very very small also. Not a nice place, not nice people.

The Perfect Chinese Restaurant... such an audacious name, but it did have some standout features. The business was located in a narrow strip mall of the Scarborough district of the Greater Toronto Area. On-site parking spaces were limited and even entering the plaza can be a nightmare at peak dining hours (e.g. weekend lunch). The dining room was divided into two sections with an adjacent suite next door dedicated for banquets and karaoke. The restaurant was open 24/7 which is unheard of for a Chinese eatery in the States, let alone one that specializes in dim sum. This was the last meal of our recent road trip and was recommended by some family friends for lunch. I was in disbelief when I saw the menu prices. It's as if inflation never existed because the cost was 3.60 or 3.80 in Canadian dollars for all of the items except the XL choices which were still an affordable 5.50 to 5.95. Even better were the weekday prices before 11:00 am. If you paid in cash, then all of the non-XL items were discounted to 3.30 each. With the current exchange rate, that meant the price was less than $2.50 USD. I have not seen such inexpensive dim sum like this since before the turn of the century. There were close to 70 offerings on a menu sheet that was placed at each table. You marked off the desired items and then handed the paper to a server who processed it with the kitchen. No push carts were available here as a worker would bring out the food in bulk after it was fried/steamed. Since we dined on a Monday, the restaurant was less than half full, and our order came out very fast. Tea was even cheap at one Canadian doller per diner. In the lower right corner was a list of fried rice and noodle dishes and vegetable plates that each cost 9.95 which was about $7.50 USD. Our group selected the following... * Har Cow * Shiu Mai * Chicken Feet with Sauce * Steamed Sticky Rice Wrapped * Steamed Cheung Fun with Shrimp * Steamed Cheung Fun with Beef * Pan Fried Seafood Bean Curd Roll * Pan Fried Radish Cake The size of the first two dumplings was average and not the jumbo version that we tried at another business. That made sense given the low prices. The quality of the cheung fun was better here than the more high end spot we visited the day before. The least impressive item was the Pan Fried Seafood Bean Curd Roll. There wasn't much seafood filling inside the roll. If there were more people in our party, then I know we would have selected some less mainstream fare (e.g. beef tripe, curried squid). The final tally was less than $50 USD after HST and gratuity. Credit cards were accepted but not debit... hmm. Not only was I full, but I was very envious that such a dining bargain still existed. With the high cost of living and lack of competition in my hometown, the dim sum prices are easily double to triple that of what we experienced here. Regular dinner entrees could be ordered too, but why bother when the extraordinary value resided with the dim sum. Oh, and can I mention again the place never closes which means you can satisfy a late night dumpling craving any day of the week? The service was adequate while the dim sum quality at these prices was more than acceptable. For our lunch, I gave a 4.5 star rating which was probably skewed on the higher side because we didn't have to fight for parking, get in line for an empty table, or wait long for the food to be ready.

My family and I have been here many times for dim sum and dinner. They have dim sum special $3.30 per dish if ordered before 11am on weekdays. Nowadays I don't think I can find that price anywhere else. The food is great, definitely will be back.

Below average dim sum at a below average cost. The BBQ pork buns, which is hard to screw up, were screwed up. The bun itself was fine but the filing was bland and was clearly old as in started turning bad already. The Siu Mai had too much filler so its taste and texture were borderline inedible. These first two items is the first time I discarded leftover food. The fried tentacles came out suspiciously fast and was cold and not crispy. The flavour was soso. None of the food was particularly enjoyable. The only good thing is the price, but truthfully I'd rather make my own food.

Opens 24 hours with dim sum and private room for karaoke? Yes, please! We came here as a large group of 24, and we ordered a la carte. The portions were huge, and we were so stuffed at the end of our meal. There is a minimum order for each private room, ours even had another room for mahjong and a private washroom too. The service was friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our time at Perfect Chinese Restaurant!

Went on Saturday after years not visiting. They are offering all dim sum sizes $3.60 before 11am. Cash only. Taste wise it hasn't changed a bit. Highly recommended!

Came here at 5:30am. Dim sum is better than expected. I have not been here for over 20 years. The restaurant is renovated and cleaner than before. Not bad to come if you wake up early in the morning.

Very cheap spot to get dim sum 24/7! Their dim sum offering is available all day, but they have a special before 11am for $3.60 per S/M/L item. Their regular prices are not bad at all for dim sum these days. Most items are usually pretty good, but one day we went, I think there were some issues in the kitchen. The food came out slowly and they suggested canceling custard buns we ordered because it was taking a long time. The fried stuffed eggplant we got was also pretty cold, like it had been sitting a while. However, their dim sum is normally pretty good and even in those odd hours of the night, you can still come get reliable Chinese foods! Very no frills, just good cheap foods.

UPDATE: 8/28/24 Ordered the same dim sum we did on our last visit in November 2023, and as usual, it was phenomenal. It would be lunacy to not visit Perfect Chinese Restaurant for our annual dim sum fix (since we can only dream of it in the US). Another five-star meal! See you again next year!

Behind its unassuming exterior lies a dining room of quiet sophistication: modern, luminous interiors with tasteful appointments that signal immediately this is no ordinary Cantonese restaurant. The dim sum programme is where Moon Palace truly distinguishes itself. Each piece arrives with a precision and generosity of filling that speaks to genuine kitchen pride -- plump dumplings, impeccably fresh shrimp, and roasted meats that carry an unmistakable depth of flavour reminiscent of Hong Kong's finest teahouses. The quality of ingredients is evident in every bite; nothing here feels like an afterthought. What deserves particular commendation is the consistency. Over multiple visits, the standard has never wavered -- a hallmark of disciplined kitchen craft that is rarer than it should be. In a neighbourhood saturated with tourist-facing options, Moon Palace maintains an unwavering commitment to authenticity and refinement. Service is attentive and gracious without being intrusive, contributing to an atmosphere that invites one to linger. I have recommended Moon Palace to friends and colleagues without hesitation, and will continue to do so. A polished gem in downtown Toronto's culinary landscape.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Food: I came here for a lunar New Year lunch with some co-workers. They chose the menu which was a combo deal. There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

Both times were for lunch, and there was a large party both times. It was also a treat for me to show for the first time my Texas-based niece and nephew one of my favourite Chinatown places in Toronto. We were seated very quickly, despite the lunch rush. Very clean tables and floors, and a well-lit area. Since there were eight of us, we got the round table with a lazy Susan. We started with the chicken and corn soup, which heated us up quickly on a chilly January day. Then the dim sun arrived in numbers, from the delectable Har Gow, the scrumptious Siu Mai, the tasty deep-fried squid tentacles, the texture of the curried cuttlefish, and the interesting mouth-feel of chicken feet. Sizzling plates of beef in black bean sauce and shrimp/scallops in a Szechuan sauce were just epic, arriving to the table in a scathing aroma that made my mouth water. We had to balance all that great protein with some savoury Gai Lan, sautéed in garlic. All in all, we arrived in cold spirits, but left with full bellies! Thanks for showing my niece and nephew one of the best establishments on Spadina!

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
