I am somewhat handicapped, suffering from both back issues and vertigo, and have tried many other things, never liking anything enough to persevere, and therefore always failing. From Day One (seven months ago), I was hooked on Yoga Synthesis: the care, kindness and support of instructors, the sense of community, the fact that though I often feel challenged, I am never ashamed. I work at my own level and pace, with assistance and encouragement from instructors, and often from other class members as well. This school has helped me not only physically (greater strength, greater flexibility, better posture, better balance, body firming and more), but emotionally and spiritually as well. Warm (heated but not hot) yoga from beginners to advanced, which really helps you focus on alignment and posture. Clearly some of the best and most creative teachers in the metro NY/NJ area. Extremely nurturing with great guidance, in some classes half the students are teachers from other studios. What I have learned here in 18 months surpasses everything I have done in the previous 6 years of yoga. Highly recommended. Not to do disservice to any of the other instructors (as I have very limited experience with them), but Raji, Andrew, Trella are highly recommended. This studio is the real deal. I trained here with Raji for my 200-hour in 2014, while I was in high school and practiced consistently here for two years. I love it so much and the community. Unfortunately I have moved and have not been able to come back to my home studio in quite some time. I live in the city now and I feel and am realizing that its so hard to find quality teachers and that yoga synthesis really did spoil me when I was just a baby yogi in high school. The teen yoga classes that I took at Yoga Synthesis (from ages 16-18) had such an substantial impact on my life. Judy was the kindest teacher and made me feel seriously empowered and inspired. She made sure to teach us more than just the poses, but about life too and how we can incorporate yoga into our every day. I looked forward to every Monday afternoon at the studio. Yoga Synthesis is the BEST yoga studio in the New Jersey and New York area by far. The owner, Raji Thron, has studied with all the great yogis - Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, David Swenson, etc. Nobody else in the area has the experience he has. All the other instructors are just as competent. There are classes for every level and age group. In addition, the sense of community at the yoga studio is a testament of its genuine character. I have been a discontent yoga practitioner on and off for many years. I loved the practice and the ideology, but could never reconcile the practice with the studios & teachers I'd tried, until now. This studio and it's wonderful teachers have given me another boost into this great practice. They are warm and inviting and, in my opinion, never forget to reinforce the basics. As a returning student to yoga, I was trying various studios out, to find one that would 'work' for me and once I got to Yoga Synthesis there was no question, that I found it to be the best. There are classes that address all ranges of where I'm at ability wise as well as how I'm feeling energetically on any given day. After I moved to Mahwah NJ, I just walked in one day to inquire about classes. That was five years ago, and because of Yoga synthesis, my health is stable, my spirit nourished, and close friends have been made. All the teachers are excellent and different.
