I've been here a few times and had a good experience but today my experience was awful. The meal I was served was bland and watery. I politely told the waitress I don't want to be a pest but I'm jus not happy with my meal. It was $22 and I did not want to waste my money. I kindly asked if I could order something else which she said was okay. The manager then showed up and was very rude/passive aggressive towards me. I kept my composure and told her maybe it's jus the dish because I've been here before and the food was good. I was being nice in a situation where I could've been jus as rude as she was. I then waited for my food but as I was waiting workers were coming out one by one to make eye contact with me and laugh. I let it slide because I thought maybe I'm over thinking. I was not. It was obvious something was said or maybe something was done to my food because when the food was given to me everytime i took a bite the workers were either looking at me and or laughing. I was uncomfortable I packed my food and left. I did not leave a tip because I'm not tipping a place that made me so uncomfortable I felt the need to leave. It's unfortunate because I ended up dumping the food out anyways for my safety. The manager then waited for me to leave jus to walk over to my table to check if I tipped the waitress. The manager then chases me out to the parking lot to ask why I didn't leave a tip. I told her I was not happy with the service and I felt like they were pointing fun at me. Maybe someone played in my food I'm not sure and I have no proof but it was clear something was done that was making them come out one by one to watch me and laugh. She stood there and didn't reply once I said that which validated exactly how I felt. I then shut the door in her crazy face and left. I would not feel safe consuming food here again. read more

Yummy, yummy to the tummy! I want to give this place 5 stars but while the food was amazingly good it was borderline bland but not bland enough to say it was bad cause it wasn't. I guess they error on the side of caution when it comes to the seasoning so considering they are striking a balance for the average customer its a great balance. I got the beef skewers for appetizer & I'll admit I was like a child fascinated by the open flame provided to cook skewer further. Skewers were presented nicely but open fire was a great distracting bonus. Entrée portions were amazing, not over the top and not skimpy either. Average person will finish plate satisfied & those counting calories will leave with a small doggy bag. In my opinion portions were fair when comparing what you get for the price. My only complaint is soda portions are small but I didn't ask for refill because I'm that calorie counting fool that doesn't want to over indulge. Friends wanted to go here for dinner and after reading all the reviews I was pretty apprehensive. My friend said she'd been here before and it was great so I took her word for it. The place has a cool atmosphere and we'd reserved the corner table which was semi private. I didn't appreciate the guy yelling at us to remove our shoes. Especially when the floor where our feet were going to go was filthy and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months - food and crumbs all over.. But yell at us to take our shoes off. Okay.. Round of drinks came out and there was a giant gnat in mine. Pretty gross. They apologized and made a new drink. Food was okay but overpriced. Service was pretty good. My daughter and I are avid fans of Seoul Kitchen in Newburgh, but they were closed on Sunday night, so we looked for another Korean place to eat. So glad we did! The best part is the fun interior, where we walked around and looked at the various artifacts and Asian-style decor. My daughter is 8, such things delight her, and I am happy when she is happy! There's a bridge over an indoor "pond", lots of pretty lanterns and lights, sculptures and prints everywhere. While we waited for our food, which was quick and tasty, we played "eye spy" guessing which beautiful thing the other was thinking of. This is from my experience the best Asian Restaurant in the Mid-Hudson Valley. I've been visiting there for almost 20 years. For a long time the founder was present and she always greeted the guest at each table. She passed away recently but her daughter who took over the helm is doing just as fantastic a job as her Mom did. Their appetizers and soups are very delicious. My fave is the hot 'n sour soup. They also have wonderful egg rolls and pot stickers. For the entrée I tend to go with the Sao Woo Duck, Yellow Fish, or Drunken Shrimp & Fish. Absolutely the best. We go here as a family quite often. But since kids are in college I go there with my wife and we've invited guests many times. No one has had a bad comment to make about the restaurant. So, go for it! read more

This place has its flaws, but my family and I have been going for many years. One thing is there are separate waiters for drinks and the food. This is just plain weird, and it screws up the flow of the restaurant. Another is the amount of alcohol they put in a vodka on the rocks. My Dad orders this a lot, and they never put enough vodka in. One time, our waitress even brought the vodka out and poured it in front of him--without him asking--just to show him he got a full shot. Ummmm wtf? This isn't the case with other drinks I've gotten. Lastly, they have screwed up orders with some regularity, especially when they are busy. As for the food itself, its a very good mix of asian food. I personally love the korean bbq, the thai spring rolls (best I've had), and most of the other dishes Ive tried. The place itself also looks very nice, and I like the variety of rooms. Even the desserts are pretty good (although a bit generic) here. This place can be a little off at times, but it is a solid restaurant with tatsy food. Yobo provides a wonderful blend of culture and cuisine in a town where you might not expect it. Stepping into Yobo, you are immediately immersed in the decor, ambiance, and eventually, the food. Yobo's best attribute is its artistic style of plating food. As some other Yelpers have mentioned, it's magazine worthy. However, plating alone isn't enough to keep customers coming back. I've been coming here for several years, and all their cooked dishes and sushi have been fantastic. The sesame chicken is a standout for me, featuring all white meat and a sauce that is thicker than molasses, which is a good thing. Their crunchy spicy tuna maki, and salad dressing are also worth returning for. My last dining experience here 12/15/13 was somewhat sub-par compared to times before, namely in the quality of the fish. Perhaps it was a bad day at the fish market, or just an "off" day, but the sushi was below-average. Based off all my other experiences I will return, and order the sushi, however if the quality was similar to my last outing, I'm afraid I may have to look elsewhere. For me, I go here for the sushi, and all the other dishes are a welcome surprise. Lastly, and I do have to mention it, the restrooms need updating. Normally, I wouldn't mind whether my commode is indoor, outdoor, maintained or not, but in a high-quality restaurant like Yobo is, and claims to be, bathrooms matter. These, need updating. I've only been here twice but I've ordered or tried their duck specialty dish (Peking duck I think?), sesame chicken, Ginza special (included tempura, chicken and steak), and the soba appetizer and ginger dressing salad. Also the virgin pina colada. Everything was nothing short of spectacular in my opinion. I'm an Asian food fan and have been to many restaurants since we move every couple of years. This one is my new favorite. Service was friendly...it wasn't super speedy but I do expect the delicious, high quality food to take a bit of time. Still fantastic after 42 years! Had my first date with my wife here, and dinner with my wife tonight. The food was delicious as always, plump juicy spare ribs, crispy crab rangoons, loaded with flavor. The six stars over noodles and the Szechuan beef never disappoints. This is hands down our favorite place to go when we are in the Newburgh area. Large menu, fresh sushi, good drinks, excellent service. It isn't an inexpensive meal, but you certainly get a lot for your bucks. We've been going here for at least 10 years and have never had a bad meal or bad experience. During my birthday week my husband and I decided to give Yobo a visit. It was my first time going and I almost didn't go in. The outer restaurants' appearance threw me off. My husband insisted that we should at least go inside & get a complete read on the place. I can say I am glad that we did. We were sat next to a running water pond. The decor and lighting added to it being a delightful dining experience. The service was great and the food was delicious and plentiful. There was no skimping on what we ordered. We've lived in the area for the last five years and have driven by this place many times while out shopping. Today we finally decided to stop in and it was well worth it. We endothelial dim sum as well as the combo skewers. I ordered a Blue Hawaii and it was delicious. My wife and daughters dined on shrimp and vegetable tempura. It was amazing. This was my first time eating Yobo, I have heard mixed reviews, but was willing to give it a shot. My group ordered takeout, so we weren't really sure what we would be getting ourselves into. My boyfriend and I ordered chicken hibachi, which was just okay, neither one of us got very far into our meals, we weren't fans of the sauce which was more of a sticky teriyaki and not a traditional hibachi you would expect, also no yum yum sauce, and while this seems laughable it was pretty disappointing. Also, my boyfriend who is not hard to please at all, kept complaining about the quality of chicken and how it was dry and poor quality His dad ordered sesame chicken which he said was pretty good and his mom ordered fried rice which she said was just okay it was more of just white rice with vegetables. After a fulfilling start to our NY adventure, we sought out a good place to eat. We decided we were in the mood for some Asian food, and low and behold, Yobo. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were greeted with an amazing display of Japanese art and design. There extensive menu made it a bit difficult to just choose one thing so had the egg rolls and spring rolls for apps. Of which, I recommend the egg rolls, crispy and served on a heated plate to maintain it's taste. Ask for spicy chili paste if you like things hot! Their entrees proved to be quite generous and, although hungry, I'm sure just one of the three plates we ordered could have sufficed, needless to say, there were leftovers. The hoisin plate was very tasty and had a sweet yet savory taste. The Pad thai was spicy but no so much so as to leave your taste buds numb. In addition, their Sweet and sour pork was the hit! That is the only one we did not have leftovers of. Rice is included with each plate and at the end of the meal the remove your plates and bring a cup of jasmine tea to cleanse the palette. Very nice touch. My only discontent was the lack of communication that each soda refill was the same price each time. Ended up with an overall charge of $16 on soda. Haha... Ordered a Pepsi and the glass was full of ice, took 4 sips and soda was empty, so ordered a second and third (refill)...... guess what, they don't do refills....... bill came and got charged $2.95 times 3!!!!!!!!!!! Terrible that they charge $2.95 for a soda and (full of ice) and to charge for this is so wrong!!!!!!! For entrees we enjoyed the pork in ginger sauce and the orange beef. Both were fantastic. Meat was fried and crispy, without being greasy. Portions were generous. Additional rice was provided without charge. The dessert tray looked amazing, but we were too full. Perhaps on our next visit we will skip the soup and split a dessert. read more

I went here a while back but recently introduced this place to my family. The first time we went together was on New Years Day and it was fantastic. I got the Hibachi chicken and it came with my favorite soup (Clear Japanese soup). I was so excited they had that soup because most Japanese places I've been to don't. The food was great and they gave us a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate the new year. The second we went was for my birthday dinner. That time I had the soup and sesame chicken with fried rice which was incredible! They also gave me some ice cream, sang happy birthday, and took a picture of us to remember the occasion which was nice. Overall, the decor is nice and the atmosphere is amazing and so is the food. This was my first time coming here and I will never come back. I was so disappointed in the food and as well as the customer service from the manager Debbie. Most of what we ordered was nasty and just didn't taste right. We ate some of our appetizers hoping that maybe our main dishes would taste better but they weren't. And one of the other main dishes was ordered wrong and that point we were over eating at this establishment . When we made this aware to the manager she had an attitude and told us that whatever we ordered we have to pay for it regardless if we liked it . She never offered to see if there is something else we'd like to try . I don't know about you but I've been to other establishments and if something isn't right with the customer they try to accommodate them to make the experience there good.After we stated that we would pay for our drinks and the appetizers we ate but not the main dishes that were nasty and dirty . She called the cops and told them that we weren't going to pay for anything . The police officer came and spoke with us and apologized for the situation and was able to calm the manager down and agree to us just paying for what was eaten and drank.
