We were driving thru and decided to stop here and I'm so glad we did! The service was fantastic and the food was really good. All made to order and super fresh. Highly recommend the Hong Kong noodles (insanely good!), wonton soup and our kids loved the sesame chicken. Wish we lived closer! Thank you! read more

My family wanted to try a new resteraunt. The decor is very ecclectic and inviting.Horrible tasteless and over priced. My husband had the red snapper..very pricey...Which was the market price..I had the Hibatchi Chicken...Tasteless. I won't patronize again. read more

I love the mussels in curry sauce n the orange beef with a nice hot saki. The inside is a little dark n in need of a make over. The rugs n deco are old n dated. Last I was there I was visited by a fly n his family. I just get an off dirty feeling about this place. read more

If there was an option for 0 stars that's what I would go ahead and rate this completely overpriced, dilapidated, mock of Asian cuisine. Not to mention paying 30 dollars for 'food' I was throwing up not more than 2 hours later. I'll be sure to pass word to every person I know to never come here ever. read more

Absolutely fantastic. The staff is friendly and the customer service is excellent. They have a wide variety of sushi selection and the hibachi is absolutely delicious. The steak hibachi is my absolute favorite. They also serve a really delicious tea that helps food digest after the meal. I go here, at least, once a month. Will definitely be returning for my usual fix soon! read more

I was very disappointed with the restaurant and my meal. The place is run down and needs new carpeting etc. The inside and outside of the restaurant needs a facelift! It used to be a nice place - NO MORE! Most everyone that worked there was nice and accomidating. The food was just so so - you could tell lots of the sauces were not made fresh. The prices are high and the food isn't worth the price. read more

Went to Yobo for our Anniversary dinner. Great table in a quiet corner (as requested), Fabulous dim sum, crab, and roast pork buns. First time ordering hibachi steak and vegetables - gorgeous and tasty, great assortment of seasonal veges. Spicy shrimp and fried rice - black soporra. Always a full cup of hot tea. Food is always picture perfect and delicious! Shared the light, airy chocolate mousse and of course, the complimentary after dinner drink. Go often, enjoy always....thanks for being a superb go too place for us!! Maxine and Peter read more

Best Asian cuisine in Hudson valley. Sesame chicken is amazing with large pieces of chicken breast. Sushi #1.

Sushi is the best around and always fresh! Also many non-fish items on the menu if you like the traditional Chinese/Japanese dinner options. The ambiance is great and it's perfect for a date night, family dinner, or just out with friends (lots of fun drinks on the menu). I highly recommend! read more

Not sure what to expect, given the range of previous reviews. We had an excellent meal - very good and attentive service, attractive and tasty food (hot and sour soup, egg roll, Thai chicken and shrimp in curry sauce, Indonesian "Rica Rica" flounder). Would be happy to dine here again. read more

We've been eating at Yobo for many years, even before we actually moved to Newburgh. For sushi, you can't go wrong, as it's some of the tastiest and freshest in Orange County, though a tad on the pricey side. A nice selection of fresh fish is always available, and Yobo also has some really great and inventive rolls if plain sushi or sashima is not your thing. Where this restaurant loses points in my opinion is on their non-sushi menu. The Chinese & traditional Japanese items look great, but are mediocre at best, with dishes that are populated with way too many vegetables when the star of the show is supposed to be chicken, beef, pork, or seafood, and there's just not a ton of flavor to many of the dishes I've tried. Presentation though is always spectacular no matter what you order, and the ample drink & beer menu is always impressive. Service is always prompt and attentive, and you generally can have a good meal and a good time at Yobo as long as you stick to certain things. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. First my boyfriend and his friend went there and got sick the next day. He warned me not to try it but I just gave it a shot because it was near the area. Ordered a shrimp tempura roll with avocado and I cannot explain how disgusted I was when I took a bite of it and the shrimp was old and hard. Additionally, the avocado was brown! I even ordered to go and the owner told me it would take 20 minutes. I didn't even have time to take it back and show them. I cannot believe they are still in business serving food like this. Don't waste your money. If you're in the area I highly recommend Akasaka or itzmi! read more

Roach serve in the Hot Sake. You can't make this stuff up. Thankfully we hadn't started on the starters yet! The woman had the audacity to inform us that we would have to pay for the glass of wine and the 3 hot sakes but she would so graciously remove the starters from our bill. We paid, we left and we WILL NEVER RETURN. You've been warned, eat at your own risk! read more

Had a long lunch at Yobo. Some local school kids were being entertained by a Chinese New Year dragon. Then it got quiet. Good drinks, OK appetizers, mediocre entrees. Excellent soup. Shabby chic decor. Excellent service. Very friendly vibe. Almost worth the money. I wish them luck. read more

Although the waitstaff is friendly and helpful, unfortunately the management is not. Yesterday, in this mediocre at best sushi joint, I sent back my $12.95 sushi roll because the "cooked" soft shell crab was ice cold...the manager/owner? came over to my table to tell me that the reason my spider roll was cold, is because it sat, as my friend's food was being prepared. I told her that I know COLD vs ROOM TEMPERATURE, and mine was cold. I foolishly ordered another spider roll, which came out overcooked, and fried in RANCID OIL. I tasted it, did not eat it, and called the waiter over again. When the check came, my uneaten roll was still on the bill. Despite my request to have my UNEATEN, foul tasting $12.95 roll removed from the bill, the manager would not remove it. I did not punish the waiter, and tipped him accordingly, but for $12.95 I, along with my two other friends, will never return. What a smart management decision she made.....I guess they don't call her DRAGON LADY for nothing. I have NEVER in my life experienced anything like this. Decor can use freshening up. The food is what you would expect with no competition. Are here 5 times in the last 2 years. Very consistent as far as this review read more

I hadn't been to an Asian restaurant in a very long time. This was great. The food was very good including the egg drop soup. The mousse was excellent as well and I usually don't get a dessert. I had a reservation for 24 and everyone seemed to agree that they would return. The prices were very good. The service was excellent they ever gave out free plum wine to everyone. Very nice people. Highly recommended read more

Happy noodles and chicken & broccoli are my favorites here! The miso soup is great too. The decor could use a face lift but the food is always good! read more

Ive eaten alot of sushi in my time. My wife and i love this place. We always get the sushi and find it always fresh and its well priced. The interior of the restaurant is really nice. The waiting staff are always nice and happy to help. We have never had a bad experience. I put this place at the top of my list for places to eat. You cant always please everyone and youl find every restaurant has a bad day once in awhile. I would tell everyone to try this place. Make up your own mind. read more

Terrible service. This place used to be great, not sure what has happened. Last time I gave it another shot I had to ask for my check before dinner came out. Service was so slow and there were so many mistakes. I can let many things slide, but unapologetic mistakes and rude service is not acceptable. Will not be going back again. read more

Entering Yobo you already feel like this is going to be a terrific meal. The staff is always friendly, and the service great. I love, love the sushi while I also enjoy many other things on the menu. They have the best sesame chicken !! The deserts are also awesome. You would not be dissapointed at Yobo. read more

Beware, the food is horrible, but not as pathetic as the so called Jazz music. Avoid this place at all costs. Don't waste your money. Felt sick all night after eating there. Very disappointed & will never return, even though we are local. They don't even deserve one star. read more

Great staff, terrible management. Not patron friendly if you have a problem with your food. Very defensive and ready to argue with the customer if their there is a problem with what you ordered. I would NOT RECOMMEND this place especially when you have a wide range of more customer friendly restaurants to dine in. Also, was told that they have mice in the fountain and kitchen by another customer. Not worth your money to take a chance on this place, especially with the mean management. read more

My family and I have been going to the Yobo for over 2 decades now. My biggest complaint is the 4-6 oz soft drinks they serve for $2.00 each!! That is highway robbery and there are no free refills on that $2.00. This is a huge deterrent in today's economy. On the positive side (and there are a lot) the staff is incredibly friendly and in all of the times we have visited, there has never been someone who was not. The food is absolutely delicious. Our meals always consist of appetizers, a dinner choice and often soup as well. Just a thought..If we are spending about $100 on a family of 3, perhaps we can change the minuscule size of the soft drink glasses or GO BIG and offer free refills. read more

Pretty disappointing. I went with my friend to get lunch here yesterday and our food was microwaved and tasteless. I ordered sesame chicken, and they didn't even cook the chicken in the sesame sauce, they just glazed the chicken in it. The sauce was literally layered on top of chicken to the point where it was sliding off the chicken when I was trying to eat it. My friend ordered the orange duck, and the duck tasted microwaved and overcooked. Not only this, but it was EXPENSIVE. I could have bought the same meal but better quality at a authentic chinese takeout place for half the price!! I guess that's why we were the only people in there! read more

Diners Beware! Ate at Yobo's last night and immediately after eating was not feeling well. My friend is also sick today. The night started with a reservation, which we were admittedly 7 minutes late for but then had to wait 35 minutes for a table--and it wasn't that busy. The Hostess/possible owner was not very pleasant. Finally seated, the Cocktail waitress came over right away--it took the waiter about 10 minutes to get to us. We waited a full half hour for our Appetizers to come and then another 20 minutes for our Dinner. It was a 2 and a half hour dinner in total! When the Rainbow Roll Maki arrived, I was shocked as to how thin the fish was on top--I eat a lot of sushi and I've never had such thin pieces. It was room temperature and by all accounts should be cold but not here. The toilet, which I had to use immediately after eating, was not working and the not so pleasant hostess claimed it was because they were washing dishes in the kitchen! That explanation came with no offer of apologies or offers of help. All in all--service was extremely slow, the food was obviously not good (as evidenced by my frequent visits to the bathroom and the feeling of my stomach 17 hours later), the Hostess was not pleasant. There are plenty of places for Sushi in town, avaoid this place at all costs! read more

There is a lot of old fashioned and campy charm to Yobo. If you eat here, expect to spend a good amount of money, but the food is worth it with great service. My favorites are the vegetable tempura appetizer, the orange glazed portobello, and a vegetable & spinach noodle dish that I don't think is on the menu anymore. I'm not a huge drinker, but the drink menu is pretty extensive, and my husband & friends always seem quite satisfied with what they order. I do wish there were more vegetarian entrees on the menu, but I'm always happy with what I wind up ordering. Yobo has a pretty extensive dessert menu as well, and while most of the desserts are pretty heavy (I'd recommend splitting one), they are very good. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion dinner, or would like a restaurant with a different kind of atmosphere and don't mind dropping a bit of money on a meal, I'd recommend Yobo for sure. read more

we went there on a Saturday night early, about 6pm. the were only a few tables open as the waitress tols us, there were a party of ten and twenty. we were seated and promptly asked if we'd like a drinks. i decided on a bottle of Cabernet. 34 dollars. took ten minutes for the lady to come back and tell me they didn't have it. i picked another California wine, this time Merlot. several minutes later she comes back again and tells me she doesn't have that either. they have an Aussie Cabernet, but i don't like the Aussie wines much.i suggested she give us the 48 dollar Cabernet for the price of the one i originally wanted. the waitress said she already tried and the best the manager would do is give it to us for 44 dollars.. are you kidding me? she, it turns out the owner is gonna haggle over a few bucks after not having TWO of a short list of wines available. how hard is it to keep a stocked inventory of maybe 15 wines? we asked to speak to her. the manager/owner comes over with the wine list and steers me toward try a Merlot and Cab mix for 22 or so bucks. she said if we don't like it , she'll take it home. we tried it. it was terrible. had a long sour finish and tasted like Syrah and Aussie grapes mixed in. we called her back to tell her nix on the bottle, and she commences to putting on a show of swishing it around in her mouth after smelling it. my girlfriend asked her, you like that? she said she loved it. well we didn't , so we ordered two drinks. their loss. we had ordered appetizers... mine was a sampler which arrived with what looked like Kimshee salad. i asked the waiter if it was a salad that came with my girlfriends meal or part of the app. he said it was the app. ten minutes later we had to asked where my girlfriends app. was. it finally came. it was good and my app was good to, although the crab Rangoon were small. the meals came. no salad for my girl. the owner came back over to see how things were, and my girl said okay, but i asked where the salad was... she went to check and came back with the salad which was exactly what was brought with my app., saying she's going to give us another even though they already brought one. with my app.? i guess the waiter told me one thing and her another. can't blame him for covering his butt with this women. so i get the check and it has a 34 dollar bottle of wine on it, the one they didn't have! took another five minutes to get a revised check. seems the owner runs the register too. rung it up before it was even found,, or not found... the meals were delicious and the wait staff attentive and friendly. but management has some things to learn about getting and keeping repeat customers. the food delivery was slow and confused and management is too tight and inflexible when the customer can't even get what they want on a small limited menu. probably won't be back unless it's on a Tues. or Thurs. when the owner/manager isn't there.... read more

so disappointed. this used to be the 'go-to' of all asian restaurants in the valley. the food is just lousy now and they are way overpriced. The base for the miso soup is chicken broth which is unheard of. The egg rolls which used to be fantastic are terrible now. Sure do miss the original owner who passed away a while ago. They have since seen a decline in the quality of their food. It's still a pretty place but that's about it. read more
