Been to the Yo Sushi in Vallejo, and love it. But since I was getting together with friends, we decided to meet at the Fairfield location since it was closer to me. They have a good selection of sushi and it was pretty good; however, we were somewhat disappointed so to the lack of tables inside cause they hardly have any tables to set indoors, they do have a couple of tables outdoors, but a little chilly to set outdoors with the high winds. Also, they don't have the option of switching to brown rice like the Vallejo location. Next time we will stick to the one on Vallejo. This place is good for take out. Staff was friendly. The bathroom is outside around the building and during the evening a little sketchy to go alone. read more

I think it's the simplicity of Yo! Sushi that makes it a wonderful place. "Cheap and delicious" ...One of the posters here took the words right outta my mouth! From the outside it doesn't look all that and it's pretty cramped in the inside. I think that's what makes it so special. The prices are way cheaper than most sushi joints but it packs as much flavor if not better than most expensive Sushi places. I live in San Jose, but when I go to Faifield to visit my brother, this place is a go to for FOOD. The place fits about 20-25 people max, even has a bar to sit at. It's not your typical Japanese Sushi restaurant, more of a fast food sushi place. BUT it is GOOD! The quality of the rolls rate A on my report card. They have a big menu of different types of rolls. Sushi is everywhere but if you want the best sushi ever then Yo Sushi Fairfield is the best place, EVER. It's been around for a very long time and when I was first introduced I didn't really believe sushi was something to eat for dinner. I thought sushi was one of those things where you buy at raleys and munch on as a snack. It's completely different. I am always pleased to come here with myself, friends, and family. I don't care if the place is very small. It's a unique place to dine in with the best fresh sushi. What more do you want? The workers are extremely nice, environment feels safe to me, and it can get very busy. YO!! What happened? Came here this afternoon with my daughter. We both ordered the lunch special with California roll, 1 spicy tuna roll & lambda roll. Food was made as ordered expect the overflowing rice added to the rolls. The rolls are usually more fish & less rice. Not today! They tasted like Safeway rolls. The rice was sweet, stuck together like clay. Over no good. The crab had no flavor. I asked the cashier if they were using a different type of rice & she said no. I hope this was just a "off day" otherwise we will have to find a new spot. read more

This place is ok. The rolls are decent, although very Americanized. If you are a real sushi lover and eat it often, then this is really not the best place. They are always busy and the place is small and crowded. Not great customer service, but that's to be expected with the sheer number of people that come in. The Angry Lion King Roll is the bomb though! I love that roll an although I no longer come here I still miss it and crave it often. In all honesty though, there are much better sushi places nearby and for a much cheaper rate as well. I love this place. I usually go to Sushi Tandy, but when we discovered this place, I don't think I've been back there yet. The rolls are big, taste great, and not too expensive. Also, the fish looks pretty fresh. My favorite is the Double Tuna. It's a Tuna Roll topped w/ Spicy Tuna. If you like Spicy Tuna I highly recommend it. I've tried various other rolls and they are all good. My wife loves the Bonito Dragon. So, if you're looking for good cheap sushi, Yo Sushi is the right place. read more

I've been to Yo in Fairfield a few times now and have liked the food I ordered every time. The Travis, Awesome, and Dragon rolls are my favorites. It does take a while for your food to come out after your order, but I'm okay waiting because then I know that it has been freshly rolled. I haven't tried anything other than their rolls here, but if the quality of the rolls translates into all of their food, I'm sure it's really good. The location has is very small and has limited seating, so I usually order and pick up. On yesterday's order, they forgot one of the dragon rolls that I had ordered, but the cashier asked for one to be made immediately for us when we came in to pay. I like that in their to-go boxes they give you soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. I think they've implemented a new policy where you have to pay for extra sauce. At least, there's a sign above the cashier that says you do. My one problem with Yo is that they are a bit too expensive. Their prices are about $1 higher than the ones I found listed online. I think the taste and freshness of the sushi are of higher quality than many other sushi restaurants, but paying $10 for a roll (Awesome was $9.50 and Dragon was $9) is a bit much. When we were paying for our order, the total came out to $40 for 4 rolls, which was a little hard to digest considering that we normally go to a buffet for the same price. For the taste of the food, YO would have definitely gotten a 4.5, but the price is not equivalent to the value in my opinion. If you don't mind spending the money, you should definitely try this place. read more

Yo sushi is tasty and a good price. It's the go to place for a quick sushi bite. I use to live and work close this location so it was a great place for lunch and dinner options. Our favorites are the North Texas roll, Lion King and Crunchy Roll. I also like their Chicken and Tofu Udon soup on a needed soup day. And if we feel like an appetizer we get their fried oysters. The one item I don't like at this location is their chicken teriyaki, it's really bland and dry. It's like eating cardboard. Unfortunately, the recent time I ordered to go. They messed up on my order and gave me the teriyaki chicken vs the chicken katsu that I ordered. This is the first time they messed up on my order and the girl repeated herself over the phone to confirm my order. She isn't a familiar face so I'm assuming she is new. The asian lady who worked the phones and cashier never screwed my order up. And the rice in the sushi was dry! I don't know what's happened if it was just an off night but never before did I experience mistakes like this in the past. Which is why I knocked two stars off. I must say I have drive past this hole in the wall so many times and said I would never get my sushi from this old Fast food looking restaurant. Don't be fooled like I was until the other day! OMG THE BEST EVER! The Angry Lion King and the OMG ROLL the combinations they came up with were amazing. I can't wait to go back and try everything else they have. I ordered takeout today. They raised their prices by $1, not a big deal, but reduced portion size. Not happy with that. The Saba I got was like half the size it was before they closed & chewy. Fish should not be chewy. I was a longtime customer, but on the fence right now. I'm worried why they closed for several months bc of a possible health code violation, maybe. I've been going here since I was a kid, so I've definitely grown up having fond memories of Yo's! I always get the 2 Item special with the salmon teriyaki and either gyoza or mixed tempura. Can't go wrong with your bento box, and feel free to mix and match with the many other options! As for the rolls, I'm a sucker for anything unagi and tempura shrimp so I enjoyed the Travis roll! Tried this place for the first time tonight and we did take out. We love ordering the cooked rolls. Half of the ones we got were cold and half still warm some even from the same batch which was weird. The angry lion was good but portion was so small delicious but too expensive for the size. This has been one of my favorite spots to go eat sushi at. I know that everything since that car crashed into their spot they has a delay in getting back into gear. But now that they are back they have expanded their seating more and updated their layout. I am so glad they are back though because I love their fire roll. It's absolutely delicious, it has jalapenos on top for those who like spicey foods. I also love their nigiri and side salads. I always get extra house dressing with it. When I feel like eating more I get the teriyaki salmon bowl. That is very fulfilling and the cooks grill the salmon so well. The taste is amazing and the teriyaki sauce is delicious. The monkey banana appetizer is also another thing that I like. It is a banana but it's fried and mixed with sushi that makes it so delicious. They of have ice cream as well but I'm lactose intolerant so I have never tried it. My company has though and they were impressed with it. They've changed things, cut corners, less quality, and prices are steeper. I still recommend people to try, but lower your expectations. It's not as good as it used to be. I would recommend sticking to the basic rolls. The $13 rolls are not worth the money. Tonkatsu is dry, and did they remove the potato side dish that comes with the two-item special? Possibly. That was one of my fave things. I noticed they updated the outside seating, which is really nice. Service was friendly and quick, but my dishes lacked: Maybe I came on a bad day? I think it's just previously frozen chicken in a bag and the slap it on a grill to warm up. Mine didn't even have grill marks on it. The texture and looks are questionable in general.
