Yo Sushi has become our convenience stop each and every time we happen to be doing chores near the Marina Village Center. The food is tasty, the price is reasonable, and the staff are friendly. That the center has its own huge parking lot doesn't hurt. Some days we swing by for some miso and a tiny something. When we are being keto the Yo Sashimi special gets eaten. When carbs don't matter, we dig into the dozens of available specialty rolls. The inside part of the restaurant is kid friendly, reasonably quiet, and all-around pleasant. The outside tables make it for us; there is something special chowing down on hot soup and cold fish while a nice breeze and the sounds of birds punctuate the dining experience. This was our favorite sushi place in the past when they opened in 2013. We met the young owners, and I believe they just had their first child. The kid was so cute, and always playing in the back near the restroom. I am not sure of their business model. I am led to believe they are an extended family business...? And that they have 5-7 locations. Here are some of their other locations and the year they opened: Fairfield 2006. Vallejo 2009. Martinez 2012. We discovered this place in Albany (opened in 2016), when we were both looking at the same location for real estate. Pinole 2025. Quality/Quantity - Wow, it has been too long since I have been here. And this was a last second change from my long term friends. Good and fresh. Today I got the Deluxe Sushi Special - So fresh. But as a light eater, I was still hungry after eating my dinner, but it did look like it was a decent portion. Chirashi - Wow, this looked so good. Also, it's fresh. I will get this next time. My guest was only able to eat half of her dinner. But this also came with a salad and soup. And for only $3 more, this was the better choice of the two. Atmosphere - Good and clean. Small local business. One clean large unisex restroom. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm or 9:30pm; see website for specifics. Service - Quick and friendly. The owners (Kevin since 2013) were not here today. The restrooms are clean and organized. You have to respect an owner that snakes their own plumbing (see picture)! The servers were very kind and polite. The restaurant offers an adequate amount of tables but no parties larger than 6 from the looks of it. It's clean and has a lot of random pictures on the wall. I attempted to order the 3 way combo teriyaki bowl but was informed they were out of beef? Unfortunate, but decided to get double the chicken. The chicken was extremely bland, non seasoned and bone dry. The sauce seeped into the rice, which I don't mind. The salad was somehow dry but soggy. My dogs' vet is in the same complex as Yo Sushi, I went over a decade ago so not sure if it is the same ownership/management. One Saturday afternoon I was in the area and I decided to give them a try. At sushi places I like to order a Chirashi, which is mixed raw fish/sashimi over seasoned sushi rice. It came with a soup and salad. The staff brought it out in a reasonable amount of time. The Chirashi was good, the fish was fresh and it was presented well. It was a reasonable price of sushi, I would be suspicious about super cheap sushi and especially raw fish. I had it with a Sapporo beer which really hit the spot. There were people ordering takeout and there was seating inside. I dined in. There are lot of sushi restaurants in the area, but since I already come here when taking my dogs to the vet, maybe I'll work a lunch break into my plans. read more

Myself and my team (Inmotion : Electric Unicycle) came to this location because we were having an event near by and all of us were craving sushi. Everyone ordered different food and we got a bunch of appetizers. I ordered a Baked Lion King (I love the flavor and how well it was cooked), Oregon (Salmon and Avocado is my favorite) and Lemon Salmon (having the lemon slice on top for the salmon and crab meat was amazing). All the food was great. I was grateful for the service because they were able to accommodate 12 people. The building was small but the ambiance wasn't crowded or loud. I came here for lunch and ordered the two-item special lunchbox. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed after spending nearly $23 on food that tasted stale and old. The spider roll was extremely dry and unappetizing, almost as if it had been sitting out for a day or two. I couldn't even finish the meal. Extremely bland and overpriced food. I ordered the tekka donburi which was supposed to come with miso and a salad. The miso was so bland it might as well have been hot water with tofu and wakame. The tekka donburi had 6 slices of tuna and a pitiful amount of rice. It was bad enough to be charged $22 for such a lackluster meal, but they also forgot to give me the salad. I didn't realize until I left and wondered why I still felt a little hungry. I can't really find an excuse for such a slip-up since they were empty on a Sunday afternoon. We got takeout from this restaurant, and it is definitely one of the more underwhelming restaurants I've been to. To start, we got 2 bento's. One bento had a much larger plop of rice and had edamame. The other was barely 5 bites of rice and mo edamame. Both bento's had chicken and was bland and dry, no char whatsoever. The beef is really really.... REALLY bad. One of the worst I've had. It's paper thin, and virtually no salt or seasoning. And for 17-18 dollar bento's, it is a very small quantity of food. I've been to higher quality Japanese restaurants that charge nearly the same price, but quality of the beef is real sirloin steak. The maki is decent, but everything else we had was a huge disappointment. I'm compelled to write this because I was hungry and Japanese food is my favorite cuisine but this didn't sit well... This is a pretty cool sushi restaurant with a huge sushi roll menu. The largest I have ever seen IMHO. Its location though seems a little isolated and business seems to be slow for the lunch hour even though service was pretty fast and professional. Parking is more than ample. We ordered a poke bowl, miso soup, Tataki sashimi appetizer, edamame, a couple of maki rolls (I forgot what was ordered) and a kani sunomono appetizer. The restaurant itself was fairly simple with lots of picture of the maki rolls on the wall. I think it is a nice restaurant to visit at least once. I'm giving you guys one star because the girl at the front desk doesn't know what the heck she is doing. The thicker Asian girl that's always there during the day. I go there a lot and "every" time I try to order something she tells me that I can't have that and somehow rearranges whatever I want from what it says on the menu! It was really terrible food. I ordered a bento combo with tempura shrimp and veg and teriyaki salmon. There was one piece of shrimp, 3 piece of fried yam. No onion or broccoli. It was limp and cold. The piece of salmon was about 1/8 of an inch thick,, meaning it was overcooked and tough. The sauce was better than the fish. I am a personal chef and offer recommendations to clients. Quick Quality Sushi 5/5 Stars This is my go-to sushi place for take-out. I call in my order and they have it ready in 15 mins or less. I order their sushi sashimi combo almost weekly. Maaaybe a 3.5. I visited Yo Sushi for a family lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived around the time that they opened so we were able to find seating pretty quickly and parking was no problem with their large lot in the plaza. It looks like they're mostly takeout but they did have some folks who were dining in. As our meal went on, they quickly filled with the lunch time rush. The one staff who was working the front/cashier was able to take care of everyone with no problem and service was pretty quick overall. My group of 7 dined in so they put some tables together for us and even took our order at the table. Not sure if that's the norm as they have a sign above their cashier that says "order here". Food wise, my bento box was okay. I went with the two item combo for $17 and got tempura and chicken katsu. The tempura was good - came with 5 pcs veggies and 1 pc shrimp. Solid, but not the best I've had. I didn't really like the katsu as much. It was thinner than I've had at other restaurants, with less meat. It was overall pretty dry and the katsu sauce was more sour than I expected so dipping in that didn't help. My family seemed to enjoy their meals though so if I were to return, I'll probably go for their teriyaki instead. read more

If you like waiting for more than 30 minutes for 2 orders of sushi. Get overcharged. Then this place is for you. The quality of the food has come down a lot. Came in at 13H00, after waiting more than 30 minutes for 20 or so rolls is not ideal. I was not told the tea was additional and we didn't even took a sip. I burned my pinky, I was not given a warning. Pot was collected together with elastic bands and the teapot kept leaking. Look for photo of leak. Nothing was given for the waiting or compensation for the wait. 35 minutes after I decided to take my food to go and for some reason it was additional 15-20 minutes. When I get to the car to eat both rolls are together after asking not to put them together. One of the rolls was made really hasty therefore holding no shape with its bad quality. In alameda they just opened a new sushi restaurant called Broadway sushi on Santa Clara in alameda. the spot they opened the restaurant is the old Kamakura restaurant. I gave them a 1 star review for there quality, and no taste at all. Also there rolls were very loose and no sushi vinegar in the rice. now to yo sushi. We have been coming here for the past 10 years. Every time they do not disappoint. The quality of the fish is fresh and rolls are made very well. also, the price is excellent. compared to Broadway sushi. Yo Sushi was a total find. I was in Alameda for a few hours, and super hungry, and wanted to find something tasty. Yo is located in a shopping center, and by most accounts, probably a place that most people would just ignore and drive by. It's a fairly small location, and the sushi offerings are fairly extensive for such a small place. First off, I will say that the food was good, and perhaps it's considered good in the area, but it wasn't outstanding. I found them to be fairly pricey especially during lunch, when one might expect prices to be a tad bit less than dinner prices. I noticed that they were doing a lot of to go orders, and not much dine in service. The appetizer that I ordered was supposed to be wontons. We all envision things differently, but without pictures on the menu, I really thought I was getting something different than what I actually arrived at the table. Ironically, would arrive was better than what I expected, and I was super excited to enjoy it. The wonton cups were filled with a combination of seafood, and the crab was pretty tasty. I will say that I love the fact that it wasn't the seafood salad that was heavy mayonnaise. It did lack some seasoning, but I appreciated the light wonton filled with yummy fish. Much to their credit, the sushi roll which was a basic cherry blossom, was much larger than I normally find, it definitely was a pleasant surprise, and the roles were filled more with cream cheese, but the salmon absolutely was fresh. All in all, the food was good, the customer service was super spotty, and frankly it felt like they really did not want people dining in.
