"Egg" foo young with ZERO egg.
    Georgina B.

You guys, I used to love this place. We started coming here in 2023. The flavors and portions were amazing. That is no longer the case. Beef broccoli, meat is tough, tastes a little sour. Do not buy. Egg Foo Young, not one bit of egg was used to make this. Egg foo young is a flat egg patty with veggies and meat and a sauce to pour over. I ordered today, there's ZERO egg. I got a greasy rice flour patty w/lots of veggies and a sprinkle of meat. It's inedible. I took a bite and my eyes teared up because I wanted to y@ck. I spent $15 on this shizz?? Do NOT BUY. Chow mien is fine, sweet and sour is fine. No longer the "gourmet" or flavorful food it was 3-years ago.

    House fried rice

I came here on a Friday night to grab a quick meal to share with my husband as we decided to eat at the park on a hot Friday night. We shared the house fried rice and Mongolian beef. The boxes looked small but the portions are large in the box. We even had left overs. The service was friendly and take out only since the store is super small. There is one table for people to wait for their order. I would definitely come back to try other items.

I've been here a good amount of times and the quality is still there. Prices have went up, but what hasn't these days? But the value is where it is. Nice portions and great tasting. Can get my fix of beef chow fun without leaving the island.

About 15 seconds after we got our menus, that one of the servers was hovering over us. We were trying to make our decision but she would just not leave us alone, and kept pointing out options. It felt more like pressure than anything. Once we ordered the food came fairly quickly. The wings were incredibly flavorful, I'd order again in a heartbeat. The dumplings were delicious. My biggest complaint was how pushy the server was. I wanted to leave but I thought my niece wanted to stay so I didn't say anything. While we were leaving my niece said she was very uncomfortable there, but didn't want to say anything. The food was delicious, but we both agreed we'd probably order delivery next time. Our in person experience was just too unpleasant.

I knew I wanted good Chinese food in a clean, safe area--not in Oakland, but with food just as good. We found Hong Kong City Cafe in Alameda, and the reviews looked promising. We walked in around 8:20 p.m., and the gentleman at the front let us know they closed at 9 p.m. I appreciated him making sure we knew before we sat down. We ordered some of our usual dishes so we could compare them to our favorite Chinese spot. The pork fried rice was good, but it had a little too much shredded lettuce for our liking. Thankfully, the pork was super tender and flavorful, so I would still give it an 8/10. I ordered the Wor Wonton Soup, and it probably had the best broth I've ever had. I can't explain the flavor--it was just DELICIOUS. It came loaded with pork, beef, shrimp, chicken, and shrimp-filled wontons. My husband ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken, and we both agreed it was the best we've ever had. I think the char on the vegetables really makes a difference. We also tried the Walnut Shrimp. It tasted more natural than other walnut shrimp we've had. We wished the shrimp had a little more crunch, but it was still really good. Overall, this was a 4/5-star experience. We wish we could have stayed longer, but they were closing, so we didn't want to hold them up. There was also a table of about 10 people drinking that made the restaurant really loud. Obviously, that's not the restaurant's fault, but it did affect our experience.

Here are some of my go-to items, see photos for more dishes! Drinks: Black Jelly Thai Tea (5/5) - Must try drink. I get it with every meal. The thai tea is sweet and the black jelly makes it slightly bitter, this combo is yummy. Rice/Entrees Pork Chop Baked Rice (5/5) - Favorite baked rice dish, I love this! K4 // Salty Fish Eggplant with Shredded Pork (5/5) - Soo good, you need to get this with white rice and eat it together. Noodles: Prawns in Scramble Egg Gravy (5/5) - Favorite noodle dish, so good! Veggies: R6 // Braised Egg Tofu with Snow Pea Leaves (5/5) - Pea sprouts, egg tofu, and a slightly sweet sauce. Delicious, they run out of pea sprouts sometimes since it's so popular, get it when it's available. Soups: B3 // Hot & Sour Soup (4/5) - Solid soup! B5 // Chicken Sweet Corn Soup (5/5) - My favorite soup dish here. It's perfectly sweet with the corn and the chicken flavors. B6 // West Lake Beef Soup (4/5) - Great soup but not as memorable for me.

We definitely way over-ordered despite the larger headcount. However, the food pacing was really off. We only had a few dishes come out initially, which everyone just picked at while chatting away. And it wasn't until quite a bit into the meal when the dishes started coming fast and hard. And next thing we knew, the table was piled high with food that all seemingly arrived at once. The portions were pretty sizable, and the food quality overall good to acceptable. They have a pretty large menu, so there is no shortage of options to choose from. Parking is available in their private lot, which is a huge plus.

Besides the main dinning hall with tall ceilings and the giant crystal chandelier in the top , it has two big party rooms . Each room can fit 12 tables . The restaurant regularly hosts community event and cultural gatherings . It is also good for wedding venue , 100 days baby red egg and ginger party , birthday party, etc . It serves authentic Cantonese cuisine. Today we came here for lunch dim sum. Seafood fried rice was flavorful, the rice was not too wet and was stir fry to perfection. Lots of seafood and the presentation was a A plus . ( see photo ) Tea marinated chicken was $12.99 for half chicken , meat tender and juicy . Chicken was marinated to rich flat. Steamed beef balls were hand craft to a good texture , fluffy and chewy. Another 5/5 . I loved the black bean sauce chicken feet , pork Siu Mai with big chunks of shrimp inside to enrich the taste , fried chives dumpling was tasty . All the dim sum were delicious and served hot . I saw the roasted pork with crispy skin . We were too full to order more . But I could tell that was an excellent dish . Service was good and very attentive . Huge parking lot and the front entrance has a den section, very roomy and is great for group picture . The building and the interior of the restaurant is classic and antique style, which is rare to be found in modern Chinese restaurants. We enjoyed the food , the service and the paramedic harbor view . Highly recommended.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had on the island…read more I was shuffled between at least five different employees just to get seated, place an order, get a drink, and finally receive my food. I was dining alone and ordered only shrimp dumplings and a glass of Chardonnay, yet the wait was excessive. The wine arrived in what looked like a tasting-sized pour, and at $16 a glass, it felt particularly disappointing--especially since it was the only white wine option available. The restaurant itself felt neglected. The tables were wobbly, the décor was dated, there was a noticeable cigarette smell, and I even had to replace my own chopsticks after noticing lipstick on the pair initially provided. After waiting so long for my food, I stood up to ask for my check and cancel the order. At that point, the dumplings suddenly appeared, along with an offer of a fried bun as compensation. I declined and suggested they at least comp the wine given the experience, but they did not. The final bill was nearly $30 for a mediocre glass of wine and shrimp dumplings that were undercooked and unappetizing enough that I threw them away after a few bites. If you're looking for a quick meal before a movie, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. This was a disappointing waste of both time and money.
