    House fried rice
    Karen Y.

I came here on a Friday night to grab a quick meal to share with my husband as we decided to eat at the park on a hot Friday night. We shared the house fried rice and Mongolian beef. The boxes looked small but the portions are large in the box. We even had left overs. The service was friendly and take out only since the store is super small. There is one table for people to wait for their order. I would definitely come back to try other items.

I've been here a good amount of times and the quality is still there. Prices have went up, but what hasn't these days? But the value is where it is. Nice portions and great tasting. Can get my fix of beef chow fun without leaving the island.

Ended up going to Chong Qing noodle house and it was a smart decision. We walked over and immediately greeted by the very nice lady. We said to go so we grabbed a menu and sat down. The lady approached us and asked if we needed reccomendation. I said I wanted dried noodles so she recommended the Zha Jiang noodles. She also recommended the wonton and some cucumbers but we ended up just getting the wonton in addition to the noodles. They prepared our foood quickly and we had it to go We took our food to the alameda brewery and as soon as open the noodles - it already smelled so good. Those noodles were amazing!!!! It was so flavorful, bouncy noodles, tender meat and together it was perfect. I did wish it comes w fried eggs. The wontons are also tasty - great taste and the chili oil is perfect I would def comeback to this place and try their other dish! And I recommend you check them out

About 15 seconds after we got our menus, that one of the servers was hovering over us. We were trying to make our decision but she would just not leave us alone, and kept pointing out options. It felt more like pressure than anything. Once we ordered the food came fairly quickly. The wings were incredibly flavorful, I'd order again in a heartbeat. The dumplings were delicious. My biggest complaint was how pushy the server was. I wanted to leave but I thought my niece wanted to stay so I didn't say anything. While we were leaving my niece said she was very uncomfortable there, but didn't want to say anything. The food was delicious, but we both agreed we'd probably order delivery next time. Our in person experience was just too unpleasant.

It's getting harder to find places in the Bay Area that still do it this way, mostly because restaurants just don't have the space anymore for carts to weave between tightly packed tables. That alone makes this place feel a little special. The food itself tastes fresh, and yes, the hot sauce passes the test. I've had a few unfortunate (and slightly traumatizing) encounters with off-tasting sauces during the pandemic, so now I always do a cautious smell-and-taste check first. They also serve "tofu fa" (tofu pudding) with a sweet ginger syrup, which was a pleasant surprise. It's one of my favorite desserts and not something you see often at dim sum spots these days since it's not in high demand. Definitely brought back some nostalgic, childhood vibes. Just a heads up, this place gets busy quickly. If you can, try to arrive within the first hour after opening. Otherwise, be prepared to wait a bit, it's popular for a reason.

The staff recommended us a set dinner meal and said it was pretty good so we went with their suggestion. The dishes came out steadily but our fried rice did not come out until 7 out of the 10 dishes were brought out. You would think the rice would come out earlier so that we can enjoy it with the rest of the food but we had to ask them and tell them to bring the rice out quicker. Some dishes were good but others lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh. Some items were a bit undercooked as well. We paid $500 for this meal and it was very disappointing. This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!
