I have the salmon-cucumber-avocado roll all the time, so I went with the spicy mayo roll since this was just my go to roll with spicy mayo, and it really fell short of expectations. First, the salmon looked a bit gray, but that happens sometime (fish market inject dyes to make salmon look more pink, and undyed salmon can turn a bit gray in just a few hours) and it tasted fine. The wasabi was a really unnatural neon green color (wish I remembered to take a photo) The spicy mayo was oddly bland and the whole thing just didn't have the bright flavor of super fresh ingredients I've become accustom to living next to the Puget Sound. I would give this place another try next time I'm in Portland, and I think I would try one of the more unique dishes he offers.

We ordered the Gyoza, Crab Rangoons, a Dragon Roll, and the Kani Tempura Burrito. They will definitely be seeing us again. I've never had a sushi burrito before, so this was my first experience-and I'm honestly upset I didn't start sooner! What a delicious balance in that roll. It was packaged so well, didn't fall apart, and had the perfect crunch-to-soft ratio. Very yummy! If you happen to catch this place on an off day when they're closed, keep in mind they have a newborn at home and sometimes childcare isn't possible. So when you see them open, take that chance, because you will be very satisfied. It feels good--and tastes even better--to support our community out here. Be kind, be supportive, and enjoy. Totally worth it! It's next to a few other delicious options as well so go check them out!

(TEH-ruh-MY) translates to "My Mother, Your Mother" - In the elegant second floor of CASCADA, two…read morefemale Chefs (Jules Boyd & Megan Sky) are blending PNW ingredients with flavors from Portugal & Japan. Aspen greets me like an old friend, a happy welcome into an expansive, ethereal space that feels more like LA than (perennially in the 90s) Portland. Low lounge & hi-top tables surround an open-air kitchen - transparency in the atmosphere as well as their "nose-to-tail" cooking techniques. The bar is long and dotted with glowing agate votives, vines extending down over a broad selection of booze (whisky & bourbon by style, including Japanese). One menu offers cheeky cocktails, mocktails, and a wide variety of Willamette bottles + a broad selection of European & South American wines. Another menu presents Cold dishes/RAW bar/Small Plates & Larger (sharing recommended). First course is a bluefin TUNA SASHIMI (butchered in-house with absolute precision) alongside a Serrano black sugar tamari (RIDICULOUS blend of salty/umami/spicy/sweet and smartly balanced by THICK-cut servings of tuna & chutoro (3x3). The fresh fish shines, as does explosive flavor in the sauce. Brilliant, bravo! Second, bartender recommends a house-favorite DUMPLING - this is one like never before, blending Linguiça (a Portuguese sausage), leeks, and cabbage that has a familiar texture within tissue-thin rice dumplings, but completely original umami, especially paired with the Japanese curry. It's wholesome and comforting, not too filling, and entirely new. THIRD if I MAE (pronunciation, questionable) - LAMB SPARE RIBS in a heaping portion with sweet/spicy tamarind sticky sauce that's barely reminiscent of BBQ, a perfect counter-balance to fatty, slightly gamey lamb. It's the cilantro herb salad on top & green olive tapenade that make it sing - textures and flavors are exotic, playful, herbal & funky (in a good way) all at once. Whether you're seeking a hot date night, a special staycation (right here in the Historic Arts District), or hosting a board meeting, there is space and plenty of taste for all, with a refinement in technique characteristic of larger cities. A sweet and savory reminder that family is a state of mind, and we're all connected for better or worse.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more This ramen shop is perfect for any diet. They are so accommodating. As someone on a keto diet, it's always challenging to find a place to eat but they had zucchini noodles for me which were perfect!! The gluten free noodles were rice noodles which I prefer over yam noodles and my kid ate it up! More important than the food was the service. The young lady at the counter saw that my son was wearing a Ninja Turtle Tshirt and shared a cute comic she had drawn! It was incredibly heartwarming and sweet to see someone interact with him especially when a lot of folks shy away from those with intellectual disabilities. Instead this young lady was gentle and genuinely kind to him. We really appreciated her thoughtfulness and her inclusive nature. Thank you so much for being so wonderful to our family. We will be visiting again very soon!!

I ordered the miso ramen yesterday and felt underwhelmed at the favors of the broth and meat. My partner ordered the shoyo ramen and agreed that it was all too bland for him. He replaced the protein for extra egg but upon biting into it, he immediately felt the shell. Huge bummer. My partner also ordered a hot green tea and it just wasn't that good. I notified the gentleman at the counter and he said he'd get us another egg, after informing him that it was "just a heads up" and we didn't want it, he still brought it. I also mentioned that we never received our pork potstickers. Another bummer since they looked pretty yummy. The gentleman then said "we have been backed up but it is right there" pointing to the food on deck. While waiting, we noticed all three orders of them were given to the larger party that arrived much later than us. I finished my ramen and we were set to go. I went up to the counter again to request a refund after waiting for the potstickers for a while, to which the gentleman said "it's literally coming up" ?? I said "we don't want to wait, the party arrived after us all got theirs." He said he gave us a refund but after watching him bring up the bill, I don't think he ever put in the order. I really think this was an off-day for them - given how highly everyone reviews it.
