Went for the first time this week (Thursday). Got fried chicken, fried fish, rice and gravy and okra. I was pleasantly surprised by the really nice space!! It had a full bar and great staff. I got the order to go but because the food was made fresh, I had a chance to sit a while. Nice vibe!! Everything was cooked to perfection. I could taste the flavors of a home cooked meal in every bite once I got home. Everyone in the family enjoyed the food.... So much so we went back the very next day!!! A nice spot right outside Maxwell AFB main gate. I was greeted with a smile and a menu. Coffee was hot but a bit weak to my liking. I wanted to try the biscuits & gravy but not a platter of biscuits. I asked if I can order a typical breakfast platter with eggs, bacon, and grits with a biscuit and saucer of gravy on the side just to try - I did not mind if it was an additional charge. No extra charge by the way! The food was good: biscuit was buttery and gravy was the right consistency with a hint of small bite sausages. Eggs was over easy just the way I like it. The grits, however, was a downer as it was way too salty; could have beeb too much salted butter. The server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered peach cobbler and received it in a container that was 1/2 full. I spoke with the owner Doug that REFUSED to make it right after spending $70.00 at the establishment! Instead, Doug THREW AWAY the container and walked away!!!! Doug needs to learn how to run a business and learn customer service skills!!! It would not of hurt him to put a little more in the container to satisfy the customer, instead of throwing the whole container away! WHAT A WAST! Poor Business!!!!! read more

We ordered the "something else" sandwich with onion rings, the "kitchen sink" salad, sweet potato fries, side of baked veggies, and coffee. First of all, we never received the baked veggies or the coffee. The "something else" sandwich was mediocre and basic. The salad was also not impressive and lacked flavor... the onion rings and sweet potato fries were the highlight of the meal. I will start the review by saying the customer service was amazing and the atmosphere was great!! otherwise i did have to wait 40 minutes for a to go order during slow hours. I ordered the fried chicken, green beans, hush puppies, and fries. The Hushpuppies were INCREDIBLE, the chicken was just ok (better with hot sauce) , however the green beans were from a can with not much seasoning, and the fries were frozen with no seasoning at all. the restroom was halfway used for storage but they were very clean. Stopped here on a whim after finding them on Yelp. Did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the servers went out of their way to get to know you. I spent a few minutes talking to the mother and daughter working there and they gave me some excellent suggestions for coffee and other places to visit while in the area. I came here with a large group one morning, the service was great, especially for serving 23 people, but the food was meh. I was really, really looking forward to some biscuits and gravy, so that's what I ordered. What I got was salty white sauce with a few bits of sausage, accurately reflecting the $5 I paid for it -- the price proves you get what you pay for. The biscuits were fluffy but hard to taste separate from the salty gravy. Some of the food looked pretty tasty -- build your own breakfast sandwich, pigs in blankets, etc, but not my biscuits. Many of the previous reviews talked about the poor service. Thankfully, this seems to have improved, as I thought the service was quite good. The servers were friendly, all of our food arrived at pretty much the same time. To facilitate free-flowing coffee, they gave us our own coffee self-serve station at the back of the room -- a great solution! I might come back to try something else, but there are other breakfast places I need to try first. read more

A definite must visit if you are ever on Maxwell AFB. Yellowhammer is the very definition of "southern home cookin". They have a menu, but all you need to know is Meat & Three. You pick an entree and sides, and they surprisingly quickly will bring out your meal. As you taste it, you realize you came to the right place. Each day has a new variety of specials, but the day I came I chose tried the Bacon Cheddar & Cheese Baked Chicken with the Cheese Grits. Our first time here. My husband and I came to Maxwell Vehicle Storage next door and got hungry. The place was really busy but we got seated quickly. I had the fried chicken special with mushroom quinoa & baked veggies. My husband had the hamburger meat & gravy with mashed potatoes, green beans and some other beans. I was really impressed with the food! It wasn't greasy or over-salted (always a concern of mine) but tasted perfectly healthy - right up my alley! My husband loved his meal too. I came on my lunch break and waited patiently while the cashier overlooked me and taking my order to cash out customers that came in line after I was already at the counter to order. My time was not valued as a paying customer and the perception I got was discriminatory and upsetting as I have came there several times in the past to eat needless to say I won't be patronizing them anytime soon. read more

This is a meat and 3 however they were out of almost everything. I came on a Thursday which was pulled pork and beef tips and something else. But the only thing they had was pulled pork. Since I don't eat pulled pork I decided to order off the menu and get the Rueben and guess what they were out of that too. So I settled on a club with no bacon extra turkey. To be clear I expect a club to be in layers. Bread mayo lettuce tomato bread turkey or meat more mayo bread. That is not what I got. I got a regular turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato on toast. With no mayo. It wasn't that good. I got sweet potato fries with it. They were very good. My husband got the pulled poem with green beans and cabbage. He loved his lunch and raved on how good it was. This place is AWESOME! CUTE country decor and a fantastic menu! They offer a variety of veggies, burgers and snadwhiches. Plus they rotate their sides and 3 daily choices of some good southern cooking. This placing is typically pretty popping so you could wait a few for your food, but it's worth the wait! Where do I begin... I ordered the "Meat and 2" - beef tips over rice, broccoli, and fried green tomatoes. The portions were not overly large, but not small; the amount of food was perfect for lunch fare. The beef tips over rice tasted like it came from an MRE (Meals Ready to Eat); I had to douse the entire portion with hot sauce to get any flavor. The broccoli was good, but it's not that hard to heat up frozen broccoli and dash some salt and black pepper on it. The only tolerable part of the meal was the fried green tomatoes. Service was lacking. So if you want bland, mediocre food with poor service, this place is for you! read more

My son took me there for breakfast it was GREAT the manager was so sweet, the waitresses were the best so kind and nice service was on point...everyboby took care of their tables not just one waitress waiting but they waited on you as a whole...they were quick to get to your table...they greeted as you walk through the door, the place is roomy they even have a private room for meetings....
