The Boston crème pie is good, but not I need to go out of my way to get it. It's a light dessert, basically really soft sponge cake with a nice fresh cream that isn't too rich or sweet. The slice isn't very big, $2.75 each. The egg tarts don't look very good, the crust looks burnt and they were all like that. I guess this place is mostly for their cake and not their pastries. Yeh's Bakery is where Flushing locals go to for baked goods, second to only the lovely Apollo Bakery. I grew up having their cakes for my birthdays, they are well known for good quality and freshness. Their boston cream pies are at this point are almost everything a cake should be. The cream is light, fresh, a tiny bit of sweet, the cake is moist and fluffy, and it has been this way for the past decade or more. I was disappointed however recently when I bought a cake and the cream was not up to par, it tasted somewhat fake. Maybe things have changed for their birthday cakes, maybe ingredients have become too pricy. Their fruit cakes are light and airy. You get to have your dessert and not feel like you've downed a pound of butter etc. Our favorite is still the Boston cream pie. It's simply the best anywhere. My go to bakery for all occasion cakes!! My favorite is their infamous green tea cake. I'm not a huge sweets person so I love that the cream on the cake isn't super sweet but very light. The cake texture is also so airy and moist. Today I tried the vanilla cake for the first time and also loved it. I make sure to call ahead and they always have the cake ready for me by the time I arrive. You can also add a note on the cake for special occasions. The fruit on the cake is also super fresh. Just want to add onto my personal experience here. The workers here are so friendly and I love all the goods here. I have seen the prices go up, but I definitely understand from a business perspective. It's only fair when prices for other items go up (essentials like boxes, fruit, anything necessary to maintain the business), that prices for the goods go up with it. I mean a pandemic just hit so of course these things are impacted. It's not fair for a business to take a loss or penalty, so it's understandable! And even with the price increase, I still think everything is worth it and inexpensive. I really really love the rolls here, something about them hit different compared to other bakeries. One of the things I love about this place is that they can accommodate to assembling a last minute cake order when I'm running late from work and I have no time to order prior. It's been a hot hot hot minute since I came here after I moved to Long Island Suburbs. My son's big day today and I took a trip here to pick up my custom strawberry cake layered with their famous lightly sweetened freshly whipped cakes. When you step inside It's as if you step back in time. My mom first took me here when I was 11 or 12 and this place still look the same. The bakery captures a lot of customers from the surrounding businesses such as the hospital. It's great to see a flow a diverse crowd visiting this Gem. I also picked up half dozen curry beef pastry and their chicken rolls. I took a bite and taste just like my first time eating them in the 1990s when I was a little boy. I'll be the first to say what's on everyone's mind. I understand that inflation sucks for everyone. Yeh's has been raising prices since Covid hit,I noticed 2-3 since March 2020 (prime Covid). What hurts me the most-being that I've eaten their cake for 30+ years is that they skimp on the cream now and raised the price. Sometimes it feels like there are more than enough Chinese bakeries out there, most are not that great and very few are outstanding enough to go out of the way for. Yeh's falls into this last category. The bakery looks typical but it's definitely a step above most. Their green tea cake is scrumptious, I'd 100% recommend it. Their vanilla cake seemed kind of bland in comparison so I wouldn't suggest getting it unless you're really in the mood for a basic cake. The cream in the cake is always spot on, airy, just the right amount of sweet, cake Is light and fluffy and the fruits top it all off. I have yet to try the chocolate, strawberry or chestn but believe me, I will be going back to do just that. We bought a few different buns and liked them all. We had recently had a bad experience at Carnation on Kissena so we're relieved to find that Yeh's buns are good. Will definitely be buying more on our next stop there! read more

Stopped here on a recommendation and tried the Boston pie, the pineapple cake, old wive's cake, and date paste dessert pastry. The pie was a yellow sponge cake with creme simply whipped which was ok for $17 for a whole pie, see my original review. Pineapple cake was too dry and not very sweet center. The old wives dessert was off tasting and not good at all with a tasteless winter melon filling (Fay Da does it better). The date dessert was ok but the pastry shell was too thick and not enough date paste inside like you can get at Apollo's Bakery. Overall, I've had better. read more

On first look, the cake with cream and confectionery sugar on top doesn't look exciting. I was reminded to make sure the cake is refrigerated before serving. Brought 2 strawberry cakes for the events, I attended. Both group loved the cake. When you cut and eat your first slice, the cake is so light and fluffy meanwhile the cream is a perfect balance. You don't feel guilty eating since it's not heavy. This is the type of cream I can eat non-stop. The store is on a street that has hit or miss street parking so you might need to park further away. There are no tables in the store -- more of an order and leave. There are some baked goods including wrapped sponge cake. read more

I do not get to come here often, but when I do I try to stock up on lots of their goodies. They have really great Chinese breads and cakes for sale that are made fresh daily. The place is small and they do sell out fast, but the workers here try their best to make sure you get what you need. The place may not be visual appealing, but it's clean and you cannot be in there for more then 5 minutes anyway. You really cannot go wrong trying out this place. Updating my review because their scallion breads are bomb. They're large, full of scallion umami goodness, and incredibly cheap. Just get the scallion bread instead of the corn and scallion bread. The corn version significantly reduces the amount of scallions on the bread, and there's not enough corn. Their other savory pastries (curry puff and chicken roll) are also worth getting. From what I remember, it is cash only here. They're known for the strawberry, green tea, taro and the Boston pie! The cakes come in different sizes as well. Through the years, though, the prices have slightly increased. Which is fine by me because I like supporting small businesses, and because...you know, inflation. It is hard to find parking around...so, if you plan to come here, either you commute, or have a second person with you to drive around until you come out. I do recommend coming here and getting the cakes. My fave is the strawberry which has fruit on top. This is the only cake I get for birthdays.
