    10" strawberry cake
    Stephanie T.

I came back to Yeh's Bakery to pickup a 10" strawberry cake ($43) for a teamsgiving gathering at work. A few days prior, I called and placed my order. The staff member I spoke to on the phone was helpful and took down all my information like my phone number, which date I was coming to pick it up, the size and flavor of the cake, and if I wanted anything written on the cake. I told her I wanted "Happy Teamsgiving" written on it. When I arrived, the staff member asked me for my phone number and she went to the back to grab the strawberry cake and wrote on it. I asked for a knife and she put it on top of the box. Yeh's Bakery is still cash only, so make sure you bring cash. Everyone at the team gathering really enjoyed the cake and asked where I got it from. The strawberry cake was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet.

I always go to this bakery for one thing and one thing only. Their Boston crème cakes are absolutely heavenly. It is not only light and fluffy and but is also creamy and not too sweet. I usually get the original but once in a while if I am feeling adventurous, I get the strawberry one as well. The strawberry one is definitely a favorite for me but that is because the kid in me loves the lightly artificial strawberry flavor. But this is definitely a must try if you are in the area (the sell the original in individual slices too)! It is a small bakery with quick service and always worth the drive!

One of my favorite places to get a cake for family gatherings. So far, I've tried the green tea cake, strawberry cake, and the Boston cream pie, and I love them all. I usually call a day before with my order, and request any messages I'd like on top. When you arrive, they show you the cake before they box it. Even if I have less than 20 people that the 12" round cake can feed, I order it because everyone asks for extra slices and leftovers to take home. Their cakes are fresh, flavorful, light, and not too sweet. It's still cash only, but there's a bank ATM next door in case you forget to bring cash.

Great little bakery to grab some fresh clean dessert or snacks. - Curry bun was plain looking bun with some curry powder for flavor, but somehow it was very good to snack on, so simple yet just enough interesting flavors to keep you munching until it's all gone. - Boston cream pie = the famous item here nice and spongy. Everyone loved it, but I only just liked it. - Green tea cake = this was the best for me, with good flavor and such soft texture. We tried the slices one day, then few days later bought the entire roll to take for a big family gathering, so I could eat it again:) Cash only, good prices. Def worth to grab some snacks or dessert. Small store just choose things from counter, pay, go and enjoy:)

Cozy local family run bakery with nice coffee, tea. Excellent sponge cakes that are a great afternoon snack. Not too heavy. Very tasty.

Small family owned no frills bakery but offering the best green tea cake. Bit pricey compared to other asian bakeries and often difficult to park but you pay for the best.

Ask the Community - Yeh's Bakery

Is the pineapple shortcake made fresh and high quality?

Personally one of the best I've ever had!

Do u have a sale on mooncakes?

Yes, but not cheap @ $8.50 each. However Mid-Autumn Festival was on September 10, so they may not have any left today September 11.

Is the green tea cake nut-free?

    Yep! No nuts at all

Does the Boston cream pie have nuts?

    No.

Do you guys sell Japanese cheesecakes?

No they don't have cheesecakes here

How much does their whole Boston cream pie cost now? What time do they open on Fridays?

    I think it's 7 a.m. on Fridays. I believe it's $15 per pie.

Is their Boston Cream pie dairy free?

Not sure, but I highly doubt it cause it tastes like whipped cream between the cake's layers.

However, maybe my all time favorite cake was the Mango Pomelo. As for the rest, they have a line of fruit shaped desserts that are quite delicious too. I especially like the Mango. The Coconut was cute looking, but the taste was just okay. Haven't tried the Peach or Banana yet, but plan to at some point. I also enjoy their Black Sesame Bread and a few other pastries. Lastly, not sure how often this situation might come up, but Shakalaka is the only place to get Chinese breads till 10:00pm in the area. Everything else closes before 9:00pm. Bao Pastry and Naisnow are both open past 9:00pm, but neither sell any regular Chinese sandwiches or various breads.

At $2.95 each I got a baked roast pork bun, and a pineapple topping custard bun. Both were very big and every component was high-quality. The pork inside was a natural looking sauce - not bright red, the pork was cut up into regular pieces/strips it was like a healthy meal. The bread part was fluffy, dense and didn't feel like an empty white flour situation. The custard bun had a very generous amount of a custard in it and the pineapple topping didn't crumble off and fall off into pieces, but was very nicely made shell. And it was "Not-too-Sweet"! AND they were also warm! The shop's pretty simple with maybe 10 different items, also frozen baos to go, lotus wrapped sticky rice and tarts, the homemade pineapple cakes looked good. I got a Hong Kong milk tea (hot) $2.25, but the flavors weren't that strong. There were a lot of students picking up snacks, probably from nearby Queens, College, young families, a grandpa and his adult grandson came in for hot milk tea, and egg tarts. The two auntie's working the counter or very friendly and trilingual - Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Ordering was extremely easy. The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The selection here was deceptively small compared to chain bakeries, but it didn't take us long recognise how much power the smaller selection packs and, actually, how the selection really is not small at all. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise. Their coffee brioche pastry was another hit, thanks to the strong coffee filling and delicate layers of pastry. There's ample tables and chairs, beverage menu, and I'm sure we'd come hang if we lived closer. I can't wait to go back.
