I can not tell you guys how addicted I am to these simple chewy rice cakes. decorous and affordable. the rainbow ddeuk has grown to my my favorite and I can help but get so excited when I come to yedang. I've been to two locations one in New Jersey and one in flushing. both stores are consistent and the ladies who work there are kind of But warning. Definitely recommend this place for Holiday gifts for elderly Koreans especially since we really have hard time finding what they may like... after so much of thinking I have decided to call them and order the baskets of rice cakes & Korean traditional treats. They were so efficient and helpful, more so I was calling in from other state and they even helped with arranging delivery. *the employee that took my order called me today to offer some freebies. I declined bc I just don't feel like going over there after work however I do appreciate the effort to make amends! Still insisted it was same size though * They are really inconsistent... I ordered my sons birthday dduk cake exactly 2 weeks ago ($50) and ordered another for my mom and used the same verbiage to order. They told me $55 and I figured times are rough bc of coronavirus and maybe price went up. The previous cake was square and huge. This time they prepared a round one that is significantly smaller. When I called to discuss, the employee who picked up the phone informed me that the person who took my order had mentioned it would be round and $55. I have no problem with the round shape but not happy with how much smaller it is. I've attached a pic. The square one filled up the entire box. Height was same (we had left over frozen prices in freezer to compare). Unfortunately I never took a pic of the first cake (birthday party was cancelled). The employee told me that they use the same amount of ingredients to make the square and the round so the quantity we are receiving is the same. While they theoretically may do so, it's hard to believe it happened in this instance, when this round one does not come close to filling up the box as did the square one. I let it go bc I don't feel like arguing with a small business when the economy is spiraling downwards and the employee insisted it's the same size. I have been a patron of Ridgefield Yedang for many years (15+). Their dduk quality has become inconsistent and customer service has severely deteriorated as well. My last couple of notable experiences prompted this review. Once I bought "honey-filled" song-pyun dduk, but when we tasted them at home, there was no honey inside. Yedang refused to believe me, accept responsibility, or apologize for their mistake. This weekend, we bought another kind of dduk with sweet beans filling inside, but the fillings had already gone bad. Again, Yedang denied the possibility of their fillings going bad, did not apologize, and refused to offer exchange or refund. The woman (regularly at the register) offered a terrible condescending attitude instead. (Seems like many are complaining about the same rude woman!) They lost a long-time customer as I will not go back!! read more

When asked for paper bag and not plastic which I clearly see she has she states its not for those kind of items aka being stingy with a paper bag. My roommate and I love (LOVE) this specialty baked goods shop. They have the best quality dduk (rice cakes) around. Yes, it's a bit pricey so it's not an everyday place to indulge, but their assortment is wonderful. But it's really the quality that does it for me. This place also carries decadent gift boxes of dduk and I'm pretty certain they take orders for special occasions such as Dol (one year birthdays) and other big Korean holidays and celebrations. The absolute best! Fresh made. My only complaint is they don't stock a lot of tteok in the storefront. Keeps it fresh I know... but they run out and I'm usually only passing thru and cant order in advance. If you've only ever bought your Korean rice cake from an Hmart you have to have to buy it from a tteok chib (rice cake house). The quality level is absolutely worth the price. My favorite place to get tteok on the East Coast...this tteok jip is way better than the other ones out there. All their rice cakes taste so fresh and are great vehicles for the distinctive flavors such as pine and wormwood. In addition to tteok/rice cake they also have other traditional Korean desserts and many types of packaged beverages. Their shikhye (sweet rice beverage) is the best I have ever had and you must try it if you go! Also prices are really reasonable and many items cost $1 per piece. read more

Our company ordered song-pyeon to celebrate Korean Thanksgiving this morning but we did NOT receive real song-pyeon. The skin was way too thick and each song-pyeon was huge...very disappointing. I understand that it might be the busiest time for Yedang so they might have made some mistakes but they should not make fake, expensive song-pyeon and take advantage of customers like this. I'm never going back to Yedang. read more

Their Saturday mornings are busy but complete with fresh "dduk" and "hangwa" selection. I stopped by to pick up a gift for my father-in-law's birthday and they had great, fresh assortment that look and taste fantastic. The ladies even packed it in a gift box with a bow and shopping bag. The quality of dduk in this place cannot be compared to anything else I've tasted. It outshines all competition; it is that sinfully good. No food coloring or crap ingredients, too.
