Not many Korean eateries in the Washington DC area as compared to Seattle. My first observation is Korean restaurants in DC favor American sounding names. Apparently this restaurant is open 24 hours a day and it seems to have a very brisk business. Almost 930 in the evening on Monday. The food is so-so and the hospitality is average nothing spectacular With servers running around like little Machines. I was out voted on this adventure. I came here twice, first time was ok so then I gave them a second chance but after trying other Korean restaurant I don't think I will come back. The only good thing about this place is that it opens 24 hrs 1) Food is somewhat similar price comparing to other places but for the quality/quantity/service IT"S OVER PRICED. 2) servers are not helpful - seems exhausting and is no where to be found 3) they took pictures of their food in the menu but claim its only for advertising 4) menu is very confusing and not stated clearly when there's a change or what comes with what and what not. Overview: Korean garb, bbq pits on the tables, overhead vents and the smell of beef and spice. Need I say more? Awesome place to go post-drinking, since it's open 24 hrs!! Staff: Very friendly and Korean! Food: One of my most favorite traditional Korean places in the area. I love the Dae Go Mu Rhee Jjim and Bo Ssam while she likes the Gal Bi Dol Sob Bi Bim Bap. Delicious Korean BBQ!!! Hands down. Only complaint is about their rule on ordering 3 pork belly dishes, even for carry out... Even after ordering Kalbi or Spicy Pork dish... Food quality is phenomenal, Kalbi a little more expensive compared to others. Parking is tight at times and wait line can go crazy for 4+ groups but so worth it. Yechon is always a good time!! I love the short rib and bulgogi, and so many small yummy sides! The service is okay overall, I've had some nights were we get ignored and some that have been better, so I take a star off for that, but food is great, price is right, just generally a food dinner. YECHON!! shout it loud!!! for breakfast, we wanted hangover food (ok, more like i did). so ... we drove out to annadale (cuz that's where all the legit korean food is!!) sat down at a bbq table (cuz they do kbbq~!), opened the menu and.. OH!! $6.95 breakfast & lunch specials! PERFECT!!! we both ordered the sul lang tang (translate - korean beef noodle soup). they had other specials like juk and bibimbap. one sip.. we were back in ktown... :) perfect milky beef broth with small noodles and generous amounts of tender beef DIY salt, green onion, and spice powder mmmm.........................great for a cold day *it wasn't that cold, but whatever* and in between...they gave us all these banchans!! I've been here many, many times (maybe 12 times) and my last two visits compelled me to write a review. BEFORE these last two visits, I would've given Yechon 4 stars. The food was always good (except the Sushi, but it is hard to find amazing sushi here) and the service was also comparable. Now let me explain my last two visits that made me change my opinion about this joint... I usually go to Yechon with my boyfriend, but this afternoon I went with a girl friend of mine. Usually the waitresses are very friendly and I am greeted as soon as I walk in, but this time they just glared at us and asked how many and sat us down. Two Korean families came in 5 minutes after us and were greeted (yes, I am one of those people who pay attention to little customer service touches such as this). They were also given drinks before us and their orders were also taken before our orders and we were there first! And yes, they got their food before we did too. The place wasn't packed either, I'd say 10 tables full. The waitresses were SO (yes, I needed to make that emphasis) rude to us, glaring at us as she took our orders with a pissed off, annoyed look. When I asked for more panchan she literally rolled her eyes and uttered an "Ugh" !!! Oh, but when she came around to the Korean people seated around our table she was all smiles! Now, I don't ever usually pull out a race card but I could definitely see the difference in how she was treating the Korean people seated around us. I am a mix of Polynesian, Japanese, and German and my friend is Filipino/White, and we don't look that Asian although we are. I've experienced this type of treatment before at Koreatown in Los Angeles. I usually go to Yechon with my boyfriend who is 100% Asian and what do you know, we get excellent treatment even when the restaurant is extremely busy and crowded! But my friend and I decided to give Yechon another chance and we returned a couple days ago. It was quite empty. I've never seen the parking lot or restaurant so empty at 5 pm! I've been here at all times too, for lunch, din, and between 2-5 a.m. for some after-party grub. Anyway, there were 2 other couples in there dining. Most of the waitresses were sitting at a table talking and the busboys were quiet and polite as usual, minding their own business. So basically, my friend and I were the only one they had to wait on. I don't know what happened but it took a good 10 minutes for them to rudely take our order (Kalbi and Shrimp Tempura Roll) and it took even longer for the food to come out! The food usually comes out pronto! I usually always order the Shrimp Tempura Roll and it always comes out within 5 minutes after ordering. This time it didn't, and after waiting nearly 20 minutes for the food, the Kalbi came out and the roll still wasn't there. I didn't say anything because I wanted to test the waitress and see when or if she would even remember (I was already so peeved, I didn't want to even speak to the waitress). Needless to say, she remembered when we were almost thru with our Kalbi so I just politely told her to cancel my order. She looked really embarrassed and did not even apologize. She just came by our table and looked around and uttered "Oh, sushi!" and ran to the sushi bar when I proceeded to follow her and told her to cancel it. She just said "Ok." I'll probably only go here when I'm drunk and starving at 4 a.m. after a night of partying, with my boyfriend in tow. Other than that, I'm finally going to give some other Korean restaurants a try. read more

I've been going here for about two decades since I was in elementary school and while the food quality hasn't decreased so much that I refuse to go there anymore, it has significantly gone down. Each time I go there's at least one dish we have to address with the server either because something isn't cooked right or it's too salty or it's too bland. What's more - the service is always insanely rushed and blatant. I understand this place has gotten much more popular, especially with non-Koreans so that's made the staff treat their customers less personally, aiming to turn over tables as quickly as possible. Now every time I go I get the bill even though I didn't ask for it and they continually check if I've gotten my credit card, frowning if I haven't yet. I feel like I'm not a valued customer anymore but rather just a dollar sign and they need me to leave as soon as possible so another table can come and give their tip. I totally get this is their bread and butter but it's not cool if it comes across in your service that you can't wait for the table to be done. So bad food + rushed poor service is why I can't give this place anymore above one star. Sorry not sorry. read more

first and foremost, i can give this place at least 3 stars for being open 24 hours! coming from the land of 24 hour mexican hole in the walls, i can not emphasize the importance of having a late night eatery for those nights where you have had your alcohol consumption, and now just need some good food to follow! my boy brought me hear after telling me about it the week before. i was definitely excited because i have always been a fan of korean food. the service here was fast and friendly at about 1am on a saturday night (sunday morning) and the food was definitely delicious. i dont like to give a place 5 stars after only my first visit, but i definitely will look to shop here again and verify that it is in fact a 5 star spot. read more

Great Korean food. We order: 1) 2 person seafood hotpot: a lot of seafood in spicy soup, including a half small lobster. Fresh and Yum 2) Short Rib Soup: must have for Asian soup lover. 3) Seafood Pancake: it is huge and tasty 4) Bibimbap in hot stone pot: nothing special but still good. Most side dishes are better than most Korean restaurant I had been to. Another thumbs up. It was quite empty when we arrive at 11am, then all table filled within 30 mins. Yechon is one of those places everyone knows about. Its 24/7 like the 7-11 next to it. Great meeting place, nice atmosphere, and decent service. The menu has good variety and is usually very good, the problem of course is consistency. Its hard to do when you have a large staff and operating non-stop. I've come here for years and years, and have come here at all hours of the day and night. I've had my share of excellent meals here, and I've also had my share of horrid ones as well. It's pretty cool that there's a 24 hour restaurant in the area that is not an American-style diner. That's the first thing. Second, from my one visit (so far - there will be more) I have to admit that the food is great and I like it a lot. It helped to have someone guiding me through an unfamiliar cuisine. It looks like the main attractions here are the meats that they grill at your table, but my group ordered what I imagined would be a few snacks to share, and ended up with a plate of 10 fried dumplings, a big bowl of spicy tofu and beef stew, and a hot pot of bibimbap . The tiny pickled dishes are great too. It's a fun place to eat. If I felt more knowledgeable about Korean food I might be give this place 5 stars, but I frankly don't know the difference between good, really good, and great. This place is amazing! I think mainly for the fact that they are open 24 hours and when you walk in at 3 in the morning, its packed!!! We always order a bunch of meat to be cooked at the table and then they bring out the 10+ little side dishes that are always so tasty! This place is ridiculous. It's my go-to Korean restaurant in Nova and open 24/7! Where else could you go after midnight and get good food?! One possible con: my Korean friend says "when you leave Yechon, you'll always smell like Yechon," but she probably just eats there too much. I always get one of three things: soondubu jjigae (tofu soup), yukgaejang (beef soup), and bibimbap (mixed rice with vegetables). Soups are the best. You don't feel the spiciness until it enters your stomach. Also, for a restaurant open 24/7, the atmosphere is amazingly upscale and service really good. Terrible service. It's like our table was completely invisible. The meat came cooked inside, but it was cold when it came out to the table. The manager took our order, but he wasn't too friendly either. All the servers basically avoided our table and had to constantly remind the ladies working there for things we needed, like napkins, extras... etc. It took over 10 minutes for us to even get water or silverware at our table. I've been going to this place for about 10 years now.. All the night time waitors know me LOL! I usually order bul'go'gi (korean beef) and they remember all my side orders :) It's also open 24/7.. My order came out first, my friend ordered a broiled Fish Dinner. We waited and waited and waited. Then our Waitress comes by and asks me if I wanted a bowl of rice on the side, I said yes. Then we waited some more. My friend finally asks, whats taking so long? The Waitress first replies "Oh we're re-firing your order" and my friend replies "Huh?" My dish is pretty much cold now, because I waited for my friend and to add insult to injury, the Waitress never brought me my rice !!! Yechon could possibly be ranked as one of the best Korean restaurants in Virginia, if not in the USA. Something draws me there, it's magnetic...must be the neon signs or my good sense of smell. I was coming down with a cold and congestion, so after poking myself and ingesting some herbs, I headed there for some kimchi jigae (under $10). I was immediately relieved of my stuffiness as soon as I tasted the spicy tofu and cabbage, which in turn allowed me to feast on banchan and bulgogi. I came back to Yechon after for a while. It seems the service is better than before. But it took too long time to explain how Samsung pay works. I said I want to pay using my Samsung pay. And they said, they don't have any proper device. I said why you need special device Samsung pay will work at your system without any special device. Best KBBQ for your buck. Service was quick but very good even though it was busy as heck inside. The food, meanwhile was nothing short of amazing, as my date and I got the bulgogi and the chadolbaegi (which was cooked on our table) for entrees, and an order of the shrimp tempura sushi as an appetizer. All of the sides were amazing, although some of them I didn't even know what they were, and one of the servers even showed us how to properly eat the meat with the lettuce and sides. Atmosphere/Service: The prices are definitely eye catching. Sunday brunch is always busy and packed with a diverse group of people. You have your mom and pop Koreans coming in as well as your non-Koreans. This is quite the casual place--don't expect a huge explanation of your menu. But rather, they say hello and what do you want to order in the same breath. The women servers are always bustling about getting more dishes, drinks, or whatever you need. It's like a whirlwind of traditional Korean skirts. There's a button at the table that you press when you need something and a number/bell rings. They'll come in a jiffy--but they don't always look happy. Food: Side dishes are the best part of this place for me. The variety alone and quantity alone was enough for me where I could go without ordering an entree. The miso was boring and didn't even have sea weed in it. We ordered bibimbap for our entree. I've had bibimbap more times than I can count, but this one didn't have an egg in it! Blasphemy!! The price was much cheaper by a few dollars--but I'd forego that for an egg! It's part of the dish and yet they skimped on that. The spicy red sauce they give wasn't spicy at all, but seemed rather watered down (probably to stretch it more). i usually walk out with my tongue burning but not this time. Much worse, my friend found not one, but TWO strands of curly/wavy long black hair wrapped up in her food. Oh it wasn't laying on top or bottom, but looped up in our food. When she found the first one, I tried to laugh it off. Oh, it's a semi-fast food/diner place. There's bound to be some hair...just ignore it. But the 2nd one killed me. Watching her unwind it out of her rice was the closer for me. Overall, food was subpar...but you get what you paid for. The prices tempt you. One of my favorite go to places for Korean. Korean restaurants all have their own specialties, but Yechon's does it all well. The lunch specials are great. I usually do the Galbi or spicy Pork bento box and also the chirashi (hwe dup bop) which is the best in Annandale over Gaboja and Soju Sarang...usually come here for the soju, short ribs, spicy pork on the bbq grill. Also the service here is great even when it's busy. My gf and I always feel welcomed and walk out full. Only negative is the long wait during prime time. read more
