I first called Ye Olde Chimney Sweep last fall to have them sweep the chimney for my wood stove. They arrived on time and were thorough, neat, and quick. Several months later when I first went to use the stove, I found that the damper inside the stove was jammed. I called Ye Olde Chimney Sweep because I thought that perhaps they had inadvertently caused the jam when they swept the chimney and cleaned the inside of the stove. Jim, the owner, came over the next day. He wasn't familiar with the stove and we couldn't find a schematic for the inside of the stove (it's a relatively complicated, modern wood stove), but he located and fixed the problem fairly quickly. He also showed me where the jam was occurring inside the stove and told me how to prevent it from happening in the future. The problem clearly was NOT due to anything they'd done when they swept the chimney and cleaned the stove, but he still gave me a discounted service call price because he didn't have to check out the whole system, go up on the roof, etc. I will definitely use this company again. It's a pleasure to deal with people who are friendly, helpful, know their craft, and charge fair prices. read more
