2/19/2024, I went to Yans around 12:30 because I was at the hospital next door. I ordered Walnut Honey Shrimp, House Rice Combo with Shrimp, and Spicy and Sweet Soup. About 15 minutes later my food is done and brought to me in a to go box. I sat down to have some soup as I hadn't eaten since the day before. Upon opening it, I found it was Egg drop, not what I asked for. I tasted it and although it was wrong, I didn't want to exchange because I was really hungry. Well, I felt prompted to check out if the rest of my order was correct. If you know me, you already know. The House rice was regular pork fried rice and the second one was battered fried shrimp with honey glaze. NOT what I ordered. Put your seat belt on folks. I gracefully approached the counter and waited my turn. I was next. I told the lady she called in the wrong order. She said I pointed to a picture. I responded, no I told you what I wanted. I was just navigating through the brochure. In any case, you charged me for the more expensive one that I ordered but prepared the cheaper ones. So she says, no problem, we will redo it. I said ok. Ya'll, this is going to ruin your high, they took the food in the back, I'm standing there watching, it's an open kitchen, and the lady in the back gets another to go plate, walks over to the garbage, scrapes half the food in the trash and the rest in the new foam tray. I had to catch my breath. Then I spoke up, Ma'am, excuse me Ma'am, did you just try to reuse my rice and cover it with fresh plain rice. She says, "It's not for you". I said who is it for because I ate out of that plate and I just saw that lady scape half of it in a new dish and place it next to a row of orders that she is preparing. She quickly responded, it's not for you, I give you your money back, you go.! Wow! I said no, throw that rice away. Do not serve it to someone else. So, I absolutely do NOT recommend this place. You have no idea what is going on with your food. read more

They switched to canned sodas which is safer than fountain drinks. Just call your order in when you drive up to the parking space or call ahead. When I found this place it took me back home from where I'm from in Connecticut the Chinese food back home and in New York is exactly just like this. Now that I been here in Arizona for years I haven't been able to find a place close enough to being like back home. I FINALLY FOUND IT. I will say this I live in Tempe for me my wife and kids the food is definitely worth it and worth the drive every once in a while when we are craving Chinese food we don't mind the 25-30 min drive we always make the trip worth it and it is worth it everything is cooked to order so you get it fresh every time the fried rice is amazing my family loved the fried rice I gave this place 5 stars without a doubt !!!! read more

This place is a must try. The food was done fast and they also got everything right about the dishes since my kids are so picky about their food! We had the beef chow fun and bbq pork fried rice. Sorry to say but you Yelpers let me down on this one. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Volcano Beef, it wasn't that spicy and the meat was on the chewy side, a couple of pieces unedible. The lo mein was thick like spaghetti. The egg drop soup had a strange appearance, almost foamy or frothy. It was extremely hot, but not very tasty. If you like refined carbohydrates Cooked in heavy oil and salt then this is a place to go. It's a typical American style Chinese place. Very oily foods with a lot of salt. The good news is you can ask them to cook it without or less and they will accommodate you. I'll even ask them to put the sauce on the side and they will do it. Not the most friendly Place.. we've been going there for over six years and they act like they don't even know us but it's a good place for takeout. Exactly what I look for in a Chinese takeout place. My girlfriend and I looked up the closest and best rated takeout and we arrived at Yan's. I was a little deterred by just having to stand outside and order through a window when they have areas to sit inside but with COVID going on for years you get used to this. When I arrived I already had an idea of what I wanted. The man that greeted me at the counter was very professional and polite. He handed me a menu and asked what I would like. I explained that I wanted the mongolian beef. As I was ordering I looked back into the kitchen and it appeared to be very clean. This menu item comes with a bowl of white rice. He asked if I would like a drink as well. Usual service, but done very professionally. I received my food quickly and it was very tasty! The portion sizes are generous and filling. While I was enjoying my meal another patron entered the restaurant and made a large order. When the order was completed the restaurant staff proceded with her food out the front door to load it for her. I was shocked that they didn't offer to do it and just did it! That is great customer service!! I must say I was very impressed not only with the food but the customer service as well. This is some of the best chinese food on the west side, that you will find around. Its affordable, flavorful, and everything is piping hot when it comes out. I've only ever done takeout here, but I've never waited for my food and they have always gotten my orders correct. Egg drop soup, with the wontons and spring rolls are my favorites for lunch- that being said, they have some healthy lunch options, with serving sizes for leftovers for dinner. Worth it. The shrimp in lobster sauce I had last nights was actually pretty good. The woman who was nearly impossible to understand on the phone called it "shrimp with vegetables IN lobster sauce" it was close enough. It did however have a bit too much broccoli for my taste and the sauce was a bit watery, I'm used to a more viscose lobster sauce. The egg drop soup was also good, but the fact that it had corn in it threw me off a bit. Overall a good experience and I will definitely be back, a little further away that other Chinese places closer to my home, but well worth the drive. My only complaint is that the bottled sodas were $2 and you have to pay .25¢ for chili oil. read more

I'm always hesitant when ordering from a new Asian restaurant from so many bad experiences here. The lady on the phone was typical of any other Asian restaurant and very friendly. Ordered orange beef, sweet and sour chicken and the shrimp vegetable, all were really good surprisingly. The orange beef is probably the best I've had from a delivery, could use a lil more spiciness. Tried the chicken Pad Thai and was forewarned would be really spicy from the waitress. Although the food is really tasty, Pad Thai was no where near as spicy as I'm used to from other places that I've been to. It tasted like there was sweet and sour sauce instead of any spice. I want to say that Teresa S. has been slagging Yan's on various social media sites about a supposed "rock" in her kid's food. She claimed this so-called rock hurt her kid's tooth...AFTER she went to a dentist and tried to get Yan's to pay the bill. She then went back a month later and tried to get free food from Yan's, AFTER supposedly getting injured by a rock. Here's my response to Teresa, which I posted on NextDoor: I think you're getting a good deal. Most businesses could have easily said, "We don't believe you," and refused any payment. To play devil's advocate: I mean, how does a rock get in such a large, expensive order? Maybe someone just wanted free food? After all, their offer of medical care wasn't enough for you-you even went back (4 weeks later, if your timeline is to be believed) and asked for more free food. Why would you want to give your kids even more of this food that supposedly had rocks in it? What kind of parent purposely subjects their child to danger like that? Seems pretty fishy to me. Another cheap Chinese food restaurant. Ordered the Teriyaki Chicken, doesn't come with anything but rice and chicken. Had to ask for vegetables which costed extra. My chicken was literally swimming in sauce with hardly any veggies and they forgot to give me my rice which is a huge part of the entree. There sauce wasn't very good either.
