The house potatoes were good but they could've used a little more cooking since I like my cooked onions and bell peppers a little more soft. We decided to eat here for breakfast due to a family member recommendation. Overall the place is small and hidden mostly. We were greeted immediately by a warm smile and friendly hello. We were seated immediately as they were not yet busy. The menu had a a lot of options but I was told the chili chilaquiles was great. There were just a few things we did not care for like the food flavor was a little lacking. It was good but just not a flavorful meal. The coffee was ordinary. Like truck stop coffee. I ordered a chicken fried steak and eggs and they turned it into a skillet all cut up. Made me think that they may have been trying to hide something like how flat the steak was or over cooked. Not really sure. And they had several big parties and one waitress working the entire restaurant. She was getting overwhelmed but dealt with it overall. If you're in town, give them a try. Hubby and I were in cali for his family reunion and stayed in a hotel for the night. When we woke up we were hungry so I got on yelp to see what was in the area. I called around a few places and they had long waits being that it was a Sunday. We walked into 3 different spots and they weren't what we were expecting. J&Js was a hidden gem, a mom and pop shop located next to a liquor store. I brought my puppy in and no one said anything rude or off putting. The waitress was so sweet I forgot her name but she was really great. The food was delicious, I had a steak skillet with pancakes and hubby had a country fried steak with gravy. Not going to lie, when we pulled up, I questioned if we should find somewhere else to have breakfast, but I'm glad we stayed. Total hole in the wall. My 2 kids and I stopped in on Mother's Day before hitting the road for 4+ hours and the place was packed. There were only 2 waitresses and they were busting it as waitresses, hostesses and food runners. How they did this with a smile on their faces, I don't know, but they were fabulous. My vegetarian daughter was all about the banana and Nutella crepes. She hardly ever eats, but there was only one left on her plate when she finally said she was full, so I call that a win! My son had the deluxe breakfast and I had the Mexican Benedict, which was delicious. Great little cafe. I loved all the choices. My husband got the Chilaquilies, my daughters had the French Toast and I had the Crepes. Everything was delicious. Our drinks stayed full and our waitress was on top of everything. She was very attentive. The seating area isn't very big, so you might run into a wait. We did not have that problem this day. Today we had breakfast on a Monday, played hooky from work. It didn't disappoint because I got chorizo and eggs with beans and tortillas. I was really good, the chorizo was made perfectly. The French toast and pancakes were next to perfect, warm, fluffy and super tasty. The Trio omelette is big and tasty enough to satisfy a lumberjack or a full grown Sasquatch. This is a small but very good place to eat, you won't be forgotten in this place, the service is really attentive and generous. I like the feeling I get when I walk in and sometimes you'll even get to listen to music because the chef is back there cooking to it. Gotta love that! What a find. We've lived in the area for several years and have never stopped by J&J's. They have such a large menu, it took a while to figure out what we wanted. I was sure I wanted to try the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich until I noticed they had a rib-eye steak & eggs, which also came with hash browns and toast. We ended up splitting the steak and my girlfriend ordered a couple more eggs with biscuits and gravy. The price was totally reasonable. The service was fantastic. Wife and I went there yesterday, Sept 9th 2024 for lunch. Food, Service and Atmosphere were fine, the bill was not! Wife had the french dip and a soda, I had the taco salad, cup of soup and ice tea. The bill was over $40.00! I realize prices have gone up after the last wage increase but for people on a fixed budget these prices will keep people staying at home and cooking their own meals. About 12 years ago we lived in Lompoc Calif., and they put out a coupon tabuloid with all kinds of coupons for meals at all the places to eat. My wife and I seldom cooked at home because with the coupons we could eat out every meal cheaper than we could buy, prep, cook and clean up. read more

Had breakfast here today, 03-23-23 for the first time! Wow what a surprise. We had bacon and eggs and the wife had the chix fried steak and eggs. I like my bacon rare and the chefs cooked it perfect, thick cut, light smoke and salt, delicious. The home fries with onions and bells were fresh and tasty. The chicken fried steak was flavorful and tender with a creamy delicious gravy. The coffee was tasty and we asked about it, Folgers we were told. The service was prompt and efficient. There's 2 one in hemet and one in San jacinto the one in hemet. The hemet one is good the San jacinto is not bad they are not connected other than by name the San jacinto diner is more of a typical fast food place and the good is good. The hemet one on Oakland and state gas always been a favorite the foods really good. I believe it closes at 2 p.m. breakfast good and I like there Cuban sandwich is really good. read more
