Beautiful Restaurant & Great Waitstaff, but Avoid the Hostile Manager: on May 21st 2026 at approx 630 pm. At the last minute, we decided to take a friend out for dinner to celebrate his retirement. 15 people, no reservation. Never eaten here before, but our friend really likes it so sounded like a good opportunity to try it. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the floor staff was wonderful. But, the manager's shocking behavior entirely ruined our experience. Will not return. * The Good: The facility is stunning. without a reservation, the staff stil accomidated our large group with a private room. The sever was attentive, friendly, and very perky. As well, the kitchen served a large group incredibly fast. * The Problem: One guest ordered a medium-rare steak that came out completely overcooked. When she asked for a remake, the manager came out and insulted her to her face, told her that if he remade it it would be exactly the same, then sarcastically asked if she "wanted him to slap down a raw steak on her plate." She said it was fine, kept the food, then later left the table and broke into tears in the restroom. * The Confrontation: After dinner, I approached him calmly to offer polite, constructive criticism based on professional customer service experience (worked restaurants for years in a restaurant my family owned) He became fiercely stubborn, denied the insult, and grew so aggressive and volatile that I had to walk away. * The Staff's View: Tellingly, multiple staff members whispered comments to our group about how awful this manager is to work for. It is a shame that a hardworking kitchen and great servers are being weighed down by a manager who lacks basic human decency and conflict-resolution skills. We spent a lot of money to be insulted. I haven't been here in a while, but I must say I had such a pleasurable experience. I ordered the rib eye steak and baked potato and ceasar salad. O m g that steak was frickin' phenomenal So tender, it melted in my mouth. The salad was yummy, and so was the potato. I was in the area for work today and stopped for lunch. This was a return trip as I'd been here last year with some of my staff. My lunch for one was fantastic - prompt & friendly service, excellent food (Meat Loaf again!). The place is clean and airy with plenty of light while still feeling cozy. Their pies in the display case caught my eye. So I walked over to get a closeup while waiting for my food. I took home a big load of goodies to enjoy with the family - Cherry pie slice, brownie, apple streusel muffin, chocolate muffin, chocolate chip cookies, and a chocolate chip/macadamia nut/coconut cookie (to die for!). I've eaten here several times, but it's not the food that brings me back. It's honestly the pies the pies are so delicious and unique and you can tell that a lot of attention is placed on the recipe. My husband and I stopped by for an early dinner on the weekend and were pleasantly surprised by how fast we were seated. We were warmly welcomed in by some really nice western decor, clean floors, and idle but not too loud chatter. Lea was our server and she was very attentive. She got our orders in quickly and also made sure to double check if I could make an order or if they were out of supplies as soon as I mentioned what I wanted. Our food came in very fast, and I absolutely loved the pulled pork burger. The flavor was sweet but a bit tangy while the meat was extremely soft and tender. I also loved the crunch of the coleslaw on the burger. The fries were also perfectly crispy with a soft texture on the inside. The ribeye was also very juicy and perfectly cooked medium rare. The sides were also tasty but not overwhelming the main course. Lea was a fantastic server and constantly provided refills. I can't think of a single time I needed to wait or ask for a drink because she got it to us as soon as she noticed we were near the end of our drinks. She also made sure to double check on us, get us condiments when needed, and got us the check quickly. The food and clean atmosphere were great, but her service was especially phenomenal. FINALLY tried this location after visiting it when it used to be a Marie Callender's Restaurant. Parking lot is big but it shares it with Los Vaqueros and it can become very limited so plan for lunch and dinner rushes. Atmosphere is fun: lots of country decor, animals on the wall and TVs for the sports fans. Service was top tier because it seemed like everyone on the staff is involved instead of one singular server. Even had a couple of the higher ups come around to check up on us which is always nice to let them know their team is doing a good job. Food is a little pricey, I had the Reuben sandwich and tried their house blend to wash it all down. It was very tasty. We were there for dinner tonight to celebrate a good friend's retirement. We had 12 people in our group. The orders got a little mixed up, some people got the wrong drinks or the wrong sides. Our server did her best to fix everything and she was apologetic, sincere, and kind. Our side salads came out at the same time as our entrees, and again, our server apologized for the kitchen. But we were trying to focus on celebrating our friend, so we didn't make a big deal out of it. But when my wife cut into what was supposed to be a ribeye and was supposed to be cooked medium rare, it was more like a sirloin cooked medium well. We told our server the steak wasn't cooked the way my wife likes it, and she said she was sorry and took it back to get another steak prepared. Enter Manager Steve. He brought the steak back to the table and asked my wife if there was a problem with it. She said she ordered it medium rare and it was medium well. He said no, "that steak is perfectly cooked." When my wife said no it is not, manager Steve asked in a very rude and sarcastic tone, "would you like me to bring you a raw steak?" When my wife said no, I want a medium rare steak, he became aggressive, stood right next to her and over her and said, "Well I can cook you another steak but it will come out exactly like the last one because this is perfectly medium rare." My wife was so disgusted with Steve's rude and condescending behavior, that she just said "forget it, it's fine, just leave it," because she didn't want to make a scene at our friend's retirement celebration. Then she burst into tears and pushed her plate away. Everyone at our table saw the way Manager Steve treated my wife and they couldn't believe he was arguing with her and being so rude to her. Our server apologized and asked if she could bring us desert or anything else "on the house." I thanked her for her kindness but I declined and told her it wasn't her fault that her boss was a jerk. As we were getting ready to leave, another member of our party paid our bill because they felt bad about the way Manager Steve had spoken down to my wife. As we we were leaving we had words with Manager Steve, and at first we were very polite and told him we did not appreciate the way he spoke to and treated my wife. He was unapologetic, except to say he was sorry "we felt that way, but I did nothing wrong." The gentleman who paid our bill then called Manager Steve a weak little man, and he should be ashamed of the lack of customer service he showed us tonight. I asked him if he was proud of the way he spoke to my wife and made her cry, and again he stated he had done nothing wrong. I told Manager Steve that we have been coming to Rocking K Ranch since their original soft opening years ago, and have dropped hundreds if not thousands of dollars there since they opened, but after tonight we will NEVER be back. All he had to say was, "I'm sorry you feel that way." We didn't ask for a free meal, or a comp, or a discount, or a free dessert, all we wanted was a properly cooked steak, and they couldn't do that. I live and work in Hemet, and I will share this story with everyone I talk to. But from your attitude this evening, it is clearly evident that Rocking K Ranch does not care about their customers. Very impressed this time around. I've gone to this restaurant a good few times since it opened. I always found the food very tasty and the portion size adequate. What prevented me from coming here the last year or so was a server who was always very rude to me and my wife and any guest we brought along. He would also neglect our table and forgot things that we would ask for. However, I have not seen him around the last two times I came here. The price of the dishes has gone up since the last time I came but it's not a deal breaker. The burger was hands down the BEST I've ever had, and the beer-battered fries were crispy and flavorful. The cherry on top (literally) was their pies. They had a wide selection for just $2 a slice! Our favorites were the banana cream and blueberry cream--both were out of this world. The service was equally fantastic. Jose was our server, and he was on it the whole time! Super friendly, attentive, and helpful, he really added to the experience. The ranch also has tons of parking, so no stress about finding a spot.
