I ordered a couple of meals for pickup. I wanted steak, and my husband wanted ribs. It was New Year's Day, and I didn't feel like cooking. We had ordered food from them a couple of years ago when we first moved here. The bill was $75+, I dont mind if it was expensive, but honestly, he food was not that good. I called our order in. I ordered the rib-eye steak, and my husband ordered the baby-back ribs. I was looking forward to the steak, and my husband was looking forward to his rib dinner. Once I got home, I warmed up the meals. Looking at them as I put them in the microwave for a few seconds. The ribs didn't look like baby backs. The steak didn't look like a rib-eye that I have ever seen, and the potato looked as if it had been sitting around for a long time ( It probably had), which didn't bother me as much as the meat. You can add butter and sour cream to a potato to make it taste better. I am a born and raised Nebraska girl, and steaks are a favorite of mine. Husband commented that the ribs were not any baby backs that he's ever seen; the bones were too thick. Commented that they almost looked like beef bones. His comment was that they tasted OK. Their pies are good! I didn't get one this time around, as I already had two at home waiting to be eaten. We selected this restaurant as we were visiting family who live in Hemet. It is a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful tree with lights hanging on the branches inside. This was our first time there! Our server Michael K was very friendly and outgoing. He made sure we had everything we needed, and throughout our meal kept returning to ask if we were doing okay and if we needed anything else. We ordered a bunch of appetizers as we like to have choices , {ahi poke nachos , jalapeño poppers, Brussel sprouts, potato wedges, and onion rings}. The Flavors of all the dishes were spectacular!! Of course we couldn't finish them, so we packed them up and moved on to ordering our main dishes. French dip sandwich, Turkey croissant club sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich. Oh MAN! You MUST taste it to appreciate the food here!!! Obviously, we couldn't finish that because we wanted to save room for dessert!!! My wife and I were staying at The Hampton Inn and the front desk agent Rachel suggested your establishment for dinner. Beautiful interior westeren themed and rugged. We were totally blown away, the servings were generous and mighty tasty, the wait staff, Jeanette, Nickki, and server assistant Jesse were on point and very friendly. The restaurant was clean, great ambiance bar drinks were good and we even saved room for Razzelberry pie and ice cream it was delish. We have been frequenting this restaurant since they opened 2+ years ago. Initially we were excited for a new offering because Hemet is kind of a dining wasteland ( unless you crave/love/ can't do without Mexican food which we have an abundance of!) But to now ---- the food is OK , we love sitting at the bar and following the local action. Last night husband and I went there. Husband Ordered a sandwich , and a cup of soup. I ordered a salad and TRIED to order a cup of French onion soup. I was unable to order a cup of soup without ordering an entree. WHAT ? You are so flush you will turn away 6$? And we were sitting at the bar , would have ordered another glass of wine but was do frustrated I didn't. Yes , I spoke with the manager , who explained. "It's the owners decision. He owns this place and the Mexican restaurant next door , and don't let us sell a cup of soup on its own". We go there twice a week, routinely spend around 60$ on our meal AND tip the servers nicely. I'm in another boycott of the place ( have done that before over similar but different issue ). Eventually decide to give them "another try". We visited the rocking K Ranch yesterday for a family birthday dinner with a party of 9 (including two toddlers) and spent over $200. Unfortunately, the experience was one of the worst customer service nights we've had in a long time. We arrived and waited over 25 minutes in the lobby while staff wandered around ignoring us. The woman at the host stand had a scowl on her face the entire time and acted like helping us was a huge inconvenience. No greeting, no explanation for the wait, nothing. Once seated, the waiter never smiled, barely spoke, and took forever to come over. The food was okay--nothing special--but the service never improved. It took ages for anything (refills, check-ins, etc.). At the end, my husband asked for change after paying. No one ever came back with it. When I finally flagged down the manager (or owner--I'm not sure which), they barely acknowledged the issue, looked at me like I was overreacting, offered no apology, and did nothing to make it right. For a place that markets itself as one of the nicer restaurants in Hemet, this level of indifference is shocking. If you're charging premium prices, basic courtesy and responsiveness should be a given--especially with families. We left feeling disrespected and frustrated. If you're considering a nice dinner in Hemet, I'd drive the extra 30 minutes to Murrieta instead. The food might not be dramatically better, but at least you'll be treated like you matter. read more

My family and I eat here at least once a week, sometimes more. The quality of the food has declined so bad, we have collectively decided to no longer eat here. I ordered a tuna melt that was burnt to a crisp. The bread crumbled when lifted, and I had to scrap the tuna off with a fork just to eat it. Our food overall is cold when served. Steaks and pot roast should not be cold. Vegetables are always cold as well. My daughter was served rancid meat and they argued with her that it was perfectly fine. She actually spit it out it was so bad. Last time I ordered pot roast, the portion was so small, I barely had any actual meat. The servers have shared with us that they have new cooks. My mom has had multiple problems with the salmon as well. They often leave lettuce cores in their salads too. This was our go to restaurant but its too expensive for the slop we are being served. Very disappointing. It's also very frustrating to have a server argue with you about your dining experience. If its burnt or cold, fix it. No one is looking for free food. Even though he was also working the bar, he still took great care of us. We had the chicken artichoke pasta and beed stroganoff and were extremely happy with our choices. First off I should say we've dined here 3 times before and each of those I would consider 5 stars experiences, in fact I was surprised I hadn't already left a positive review when I started this one - but our most recent visit might give me hesitation to return. So for fairness I'll average it to 3 The main issue was the ribeye I ordered, when it arrived it looked like a grilled foot. Seriously. Like a weird wedge of beef. I questioned them, are you sure this is right? Maybe it's a sirloin or something? Where is the missing spinalis cap muscle makes a ribeye? The server took it back, returned to say it was an "end piece" but I've eaten hundreds of ribeyes and never had anything like the mutant on that plate. So they remade it, which took an extra 20+ min and it came out, after everyone else had finished eating, overcooked Medium Well not Medium Rare I ordered, and crust beyond char in a few spots. Also definitely wasn't 16oz portion. Not sure if the kitchen was pissed about remaking it or they just straight up suck but damn. They also undercooked my moms patty melt. My sons Mac n Cheese was fine but it took 30 min and 2 reminders to get ranch for his fries and they were cold by then, and it wasn't like they were slammed, the place was mostly empty. So after passing this location multiple times we decided to give it a try. We heard good things from people we trust so we said let's do it. Back story: this location use to be THE WORST MARIE CALENDARS RESTAURANT IN THE AREA!! Flies, Rodents galore! So it's hard to get past but we said Hey! They may be better! Well they were.... The decor and ambiance was set in the old west with a modern feel. Lots of metal art and western decor. Not too much as to make you think they were trying too hard. The service from host to waiters/waitresses were great and attentive. The service could not have been better. Now on to the food. It was great. Very flavorful and the serving's were just right. We ordered the loaded wedge potatoes for appetizer. Really good and cook just right. Main dishes were Braised and Slow-Roasted Pot Roast and the Beef Stroganoff. We also tried the House Beer! Everything was great! One critique is that the Beef Stroganoff has a little too much Thyme or Sage that over powered the other flavors. The meat was tender and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The Pot Roast was really flavorful and the meat was tender. I only received one piece of fat/gristle which tells me that it was at least real meat lol. The vegetables was steamed really well. Came in on a Friday night at about 9pm and the place was pretty busy still. Large parking lot and easy to find. Kind of reminds of a Black Bear restaurant. Pretty diverse menu with average prices for meals in the $18 to $25 range. Service is good and prompt. I had the pulled pork sandwich which had good flavor, a decent amount of pork but needed more coleslaw. Good helping of air fried French fries which were nice and crispy. The Cobb salad and artichoke pasta were both good as well but not great. Good serving size and about 10 beers on tap. read more

We have been eating at this restaurant since they opened and we have noticed that over the last few months the service and food quality has declined. It was my wife's birthday on Saturday and that's why we went out to eat. In the past, we normally order the 20 ounce prime rib and my wife and I split it. We don't get anything extra so the sides that come with it we split it. To our surprise, they have implemented a policy now that they charge $10 extra if you order one meal and split it. The interesting thing is that you don't get anything extra for those $10. Maybe this is their cost to wash one dish, heck I don't know. So we wound up ordering two separate dishes, I requested my steak medium rare which is what I always get, however, I received a completely rare steak. I'm attaching a photo so you can judge yourself. In the past, if it's been my birthday or my wife's birthday, they have always brought a slice of pie at the end to celebrate the birthday, BUT this time we did not get squat. I had mentioned it to the waiter when we arrived but that didn't seem to do anything. Rocking K Ranch had become our favorite restaurant and we've taken many friends there but after this experience and the fact that their service and the quality of food has gone downhill terribly we will never return and cannot recommend them any more. read more

I had the sirloin steak off of the early dining menu & it was so dry!! I don't know what happened because it looked red on the inside, but still dry. I complained to the waiter & told him I couldn't eat it, but all he told me was to cut it down the middle middle & that the longer you cook a steak, the drier it gets. Obviously...but I ordered it medium. Anyways, he left the table without offering me anything else in exchange. This was disappointing because the meals are not cheap. Usually servers at other restaurants would ask if they could do anything to make it right (most of the time without question) but not here. By the time he came back around to the table to ask how my steak was, my husband had already started eating it because he didn't want the steak to go to waste. This is hidden gem in HEMET. I never go to HEMET for steak but this place changed my mind. I ordered the 16oz Steak Medium Rare with baked potato and salad. The quality of the meat was outstanding! Every bite was out of this world. Didn't have to put A1 sauce or anything. The portions are big no matter what you order. The Beef Stroganoff was pretty good. Since I wanted to celebrate my Uncle's retirement, and he just so happened to be craving some pie, we decided to drop in and pick one up. Before coming to the restaurant, I called ahead to ask a few questions and ensure the restaurant was open for business. Since it was the holiday season, you just never know when businesses abruptly close their doors. The employee that I spoke to over the phone was knowledgeable , friendly, and just had that proper, inviting customer service attitude. Thanks to the silverware wrapping, cowboy hat wearing, employee with the cool artwork on their hands. You rock! As we entered, the employee manning the front counter was also very helpful. They too were very knowledgeable about their product and assured me that these pies were made using the same recipes as the Marie Calendar's pies. There was a large selection to choose from but we settled on one of my Uncle's favorites, the Banana Cream Pie. The coconut pie, also an Uncle fave, was calling our name's however my aunt isn't a big fan so we passed. Next time she won't be so lucky. The Banana cream pie was really good. It wasn't too sweet and it had an awesome, perfectly textured crust. I could eat just about anything that was on top of that crust. Shoot, I'd just eat the crust on it's own. My only critique was that there wasn't a lot of actual banana. The pineapple mango muffin was good. It was definitely better than a Costco muffin (sorry Costco), but not as good as other quality bakeshops/patisseries. Seeing as I get really really good pies in SD for $10.95 (SDCPS we see you!), $18 seemed a bit pricey. In all actuality , $18 is pretty fair as this was a delicious pie. Especially since a single slice in a restaurant typically runs you $9+. Excellent customer service and delectable pies.
