Finally a decent take away Chinese restaurant in the Salem/Windham NH area, when all other Chinese restaurants were junk. This one is still as expensive as the others, but much better. Two chicken dishes plus 2 egg rolls and two small rice cost $27. The rolls were simply excellent, not greasy, crisp, thin, with fresh filling. The sweet and sour sauce was abundant and good. The chicken was fresh. The quantities are very large, so each portion is good for two meals. Everything was still well warm when it got home, after at least half an hour. Parking is easy in downtown Salem. I did not give it five stars only because of the high price. What happened with the times of inexpensive Chinese food? Anyway, do not bother trying any of the other ones, this is the only one that sells edible food instead of the 'dog food' the other ones serve. read more

The best chinese food in Salem. The general gao chicken is delicious, I have had the the egg rolls and spring rolls as well and those also have been consistently great read more

We picked up some take-out from here today after reading the reviews. It was decent American Chinese food. A little over cooked but not bad. We'd probably order from here again but wouldn't go out of our way to order from here. ( does that make sense?) read more

We had an unacceptable experience last weekend. Our party of 6 was squeezed into a table for 4 w/ 2 chairs placed on the end even though there were corner booths available in the corners. Food was good as usual, but when leaving, my wife tripped and fell over one of the end tables (she was not drinking). NO ONE CAME TO HELP OR EVEN ASK IF SHE WAS OK!!! Hello? She was extremely embarrassed and ask that I didn't make a scene even though other patrons AND THE STAFF WERE LAUGHING AT HER!!! She asked me not to contact an attorney even though she sprained her wrist and has bruises on her back and leg. These people should be out of business again!!! read more

I usually go to Mei Hoo for Chinese who I think is decent, reliable and fast but thought I would try a new place, that was a mistake. The delivery took an hour and 15 minutes and I live 10 minutes away. The chicken wings were overlooked and dry, the crab rangoon was undercooked and the duck sauce tasted weird. Needless to say I won't be going back. read more

After suffering through several of the "all taste same" horrible takeout fare that Lawrence, MA provides (I swear, all these restaurants must get their creepy too-dark brown friend rice, their cookie-cutter dried-out crab rangoons, and other generic dishes from the same pre-cooked supplier!), my friend and I decided to try Yang Ming. We were shopping in Salem at all of the convenient chain stores (Target, Bed Bath& Beyond, Pier 1, Home Depot, even a Shaws--swoon, they're all there) and saw the beautiful red and green lights that make this restaurant look magical at night. I wish someone would take a night picture of the establishment-it's really beautiful. In nearby Lawrence, MA, Le Chen's gets rave reviews, and we went there several times because of the reviews, but this place beats them hands-down. The food here is not the standard "all taste same" Chinese fare you find elsewhere. The recipes are original, homemade--which is why I think Yang Ming has gotten some bad reviews: people are expecting a certain generic taste and instead they get something quite unexpected. I personally like the unexpected and was delighted with most of the dishes. To be honest, I didn't like the house Lo Mein. It was too onion-y for my tastes, but it did have a distinct flavor that you don't find in most factory-produced Lo Mein. I loved the unusual spring rolls, the delicious and delicate pork fried rice, and the very unusual sesame chicken, a sweet-sauce dish that usually tastes cloying sweet rather than good, but not at Yang Ming's. It had just the right amount (i.e. not too much) sugar. And it actually had far more than five sesame seeds on it, lol, something that is rare at most Chinese restaurants around here in these penny-pinching times. The chicken in its light red sauce was artistically surrounded by broccoli flowers on a lovely round platter, and the broccoli tasted as if it had been grilled! It was delicious just by itself. My friend also loved the pork fried rice (a favorite of his) and the huge chicken wings appetizer. He said his won ton soup was incredible. We ordered far too much food that night because we didn't expect the portions to be so large. Unlike the unsightly plates in some of the photos, our food came on beautiful platters and our plates had a beautiful minimalist design on their faces. The portions were enormous and very reasonably priced. We had a huge amount of leftovers. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and relatively quiet. Nice, dimly lit ambiance, unlike so many glaringly overlit establishments. Decor at Yeng Ming's was not expensive, but pleasant and soothing to the eyes--done with an artistic touch. We will be returning here, again and again. The dining was fabulous. The tastes here are delightfully different than what you find locally in the Lawrence/Methuen/Andover area. To me, that is refreshing and very good; but it might not be for some others. If you come expecting a certain specific taste rather than being open-minded to new experiences, this might not be the best place for you. read more

I really love this place! We eat here at least once per a week, and it's hands down the best Asian restaurant in the area. We recently moved to the area and I'm so happy I found this place. The service is always really friendly and they deliver super fast. I've even gotten a surprise complimentary crab rangoon (which are the best here btw). The sushi is always fresh and delicious, and I highly recommend ordering the crazy maki-yum! read more

My son was asking for Chinese food so I saw this place and decided to stop in! The food was pretty good and service was great! Will likely go back read more

We have just done delivery and the food is deliv hot with a normal wait time. Good customer service. Like large selection of noodles.

We love this place. They now have expanded the Resturant and the food is the best in the Salem area. Of course the drinks are awesome also.

This place was a great surprise! I stopped her while waiting to pick up kids from Canobie Lake Park. I sat at the bar and received great, friendly service and some of the best Moo Goo Gai Pan I've ever had. I highly recommend Yang Ming! read more

I really love this place. The food is always really good and although I have never ate there (only delivery and takeout) everyone has been super friendly and services has been great. i saw some other people say the service was poor... maybe in there? I will dine in one day to see myself, but all around it is my go to chinese food spot in Salem read more

BEST Chinese place!!!! I've been coming here for years and have never once been disappointed. The service is always good and the owners are always around and interacting with their guests. They're great! Food comes out incredibly fast and the portions are HUGE, especially for the awesome low prices. The lounge is a fun vibe and gets very busy on nights and weekends. Many of their lunch specials are under $10 (the ones I usually get are around $7.95) and it includes the main course, rice, an appetizer sample and your choice of soup. Definitely a great deal for all that food! The variety of sushi and sashimi is also a plus and it is always fresh and beautifully presented. They've expanded and added a whole new room with lots more seating which will accommodate for their busy weekends. Glad to see them doing well! read more

Great service and ambiance, friendly staff, good Chinese music! :) Food is cheap and comes with free appetizers and soup. Not the best Chinese food we've ever had, hence the 3 stars. read more

Went there twice. The food is actually pretty good and they have some creative presentations. The quantity and cost is fair. First time we went we had really good service on a quiet night - last night we had truly deplorable service when they were slammed. Maybe they were just in the weeds but they were taking half an hour to run drinks. I'm going to chalk it up to one bad nite of service with a bad waiter and still a worth while restaurant. read more

Stoped by for quick lunch!! Really good place!! Service is pleasant and quick, place is clean, food is DELICIOUS!!! I got chicken teriyaki- it was hands down best one I ever tried so far!! Lo Mein is very good too, with good amount of chicken and veggies! Prices are very affordable, almost the same as any other Chinese place. Very much recommend! read more

The food here is great! I was tremendously surprised at the quality when I stopped in because of a referral. Their fried rice isn't the crappy overdone stuff that you'd get at the take out place on the corner. The bone-in spare ribs are crazy good. The sushi also caught me by surprise. The prices are pretty good, too. read more

Delivery took over an hour. Screwed up our order. Wouldn't admit the mistake and refused to send the correct order or offer a refund. These restaurants are everywhere and I won't be going back to this one. read more

Love this restaurant. The people are awesome, the food is always delicious and the prices are fantastic. Highly reccomend.

My husband and I are diehard sushi fans and THIS is the place to be. When we first started going years ago, the place was empty but word has sure spread! They expanded so there is still no wait (or 5 mins worst case scenario). The rolls are SO fresh with the Snow Mountain Maki un-toppable! We used to live in Boston and this is even our favorite still. Typical casual "hole in the wall" feel, but they recognize me every time I come in. Every one we bring with us loves it just the same. I will admit the Thai Iced Tea is nothing to brag about, but I still order it every time. This is also a great place to bring non-sushi-eater friends because they have an extensive Asian menu. read more

Never place an online order. They don't monitor them. When I arrived at the pick up time they had no idea what I was talking about. They eventually found it on the hostess' phone. They still managed to enter it wrong. read more

Ordered a house fried rice. To my utter disgust, they do not devein the shrimp. I recommend avoiding anything with shrimp in it at this place. read more

This was our first visit to Yang Ming. I ordered veggie Pad Thai and hubby had the beef Pad Thai. The meals were delivered promptly and steaming hot. The beef was extremely tender and my dish was spicier than I was used to, but I really enjoyed it. The server was polite and efficient with unprompted water refills. The only negative for me was that the background music was too loud and when coupled with customer chatter it was hard to hear our own conversation. We will definitely return again. read more

We have ordered from Yang Ming a few times and really enjoyed. But have to say tonight was not what we have have become use to. The pork ravioli a were underdone, the salt and pepper chicken was mostly crust and we found very little chicken, the crispy beef (thIs was suppose to be spicy) was bland and tasteless. We ordered a large order of spareribs and only got 5 ribs. Needless to say we will thinking twice before ordering again. We have told numerous people to go there but will not in the future. read more

Best food ever! Small ambient place, my only disappointment is that I live in CA, so I can only get here one week a year. I wish I had a private jet..I'd stop in weekly :) I'll be in town in October, and yes, I will be there again! Great service, great food, great prices. What more? read more

Awesome food and staff. We frequently stop here after soccer practice and the staff always were accommodating. The owner also loved entertaining the kids and gave them ice cream for bdays. Sushi selection is awesome! Loyal customer. read more

Great food and huge sushi selection. Drinks were very good as well.

We just ordered close to 90 dollars in Chinese Food and it was the worst Chinese food ever!!!! I was reassured after asking twice that the food will come out hot and it didnt. Everything was refried yes refried and overcooked!!!!!! All other dishes were tasteless and disgusting. Never again and do yourselves a favor and avoid this place at all cost!!!!!!!! I wish there was a negative part to rate them.because they dont even deserve 1 star !!!!! read more

Decided to order the day before New Year's Eve for a pick up at 7:00 pm on New Year's Eve.. Being a busy night I didn't expect it to be ready when I got there and it wasn't. No big deal! There had to be over a 100 people waiting and ordering. They told me it would be 20 min for mr order which I didn't believe but I just went to the bar which was crazy busy with a girl and another guy making drinks as fast as they could and was amazed at the precision and poise they had to handle a full bar with at least 3 deep and take care of the waiters and waitresses for the restaurant patrons also..kudos to the bartenders and bar backs!!! Anyway I waited a total of an hour and half for my order and had an amazing house Mi tie ! Got my order at 8:30 and headed home to find the order perfectly correct and FRESH!!!! Evan the rice!! Everything was excellent!! I will definitely return read more

Everyone has their go-to Chinese food spot and Yang Ming is mine. The reviews here are mixed but my family and I have never had a problem. When we want Chinese, we always get Yang Ming. Crab rangoons aren't overfilled, pork fried rice is spot on, chicken fingers are never over cooked. It's not spiffy like Tomo or hibachi places but for good simple Chinese food cravings I go here. read more

So my boyfriend and I have gone to Yang Ming for years, solely for their sushi and their food is delicious each time and their customer service is great. Last night for the very first time we decided to order delivery rather than pickup and the delivery driver was very sweet but once he left we noticed our spring rolls we ordered were missing. So I call and explain and by no means was I expecting them to send back their delivery driver for spring rolls but at the very least offer me options as to what they plan to do to resolve this. What I received instead was "are you sure you checked the bag? I asked the chef and she said she knows it's in there." Like what?!?! Why would I make this up? Especially with the cheapest item I ordered! Years of loyalty to Yang Ming and I was questioned this way for at least 3 solid minutes, to then be told that the manager was not on duty and they could not issue me a credit for the spring rolls I never received. But what makes this all that much more frustrating was that she explained she'd credit it off my NEXT ORDER, haha assuming after the eat I was treated I would order there again. How would I even remember, how would they? So in conclusion, Wasabi is closer to my home and has delicious sushi as well as Tomo. So those are now my new go tos. A day later, no credit in my account either. I hope the 4.95 was worth losing two loyal customers over. read more

We order from here all the time (they know us by name :-P). I occasionally get the "Happy Family" which is delicious. I never finish it and always have leftovers for lunch the next day. Most often I get sushi though...the eel cucumber and eel avacado. Delicious! We sometimes eat in there, but generally get takeout. read more

Better than the average chinese food! Everything came out nice and hot, great scorpion bowl, and the food didn't leave me dying for a gallon of water after the meal! The service was very friendly as well. We'll go back for sure :) read more

This place is AMAZING! The food (especially the sushi) was fresh and delicious & there was little waiting time between dishes. The scallion pancakes & crab ragoons were crispy, the General Gaus chicken had the perfect amount of spice and the tuna in the Tuna Rolls practically melted in your mouth. My boyfriend & I ordered our usual Chinese favorites and the portions were more than enough for two people. There was even a moment our waiter came near our table and we were panicking thinking we'd ordered more! We wanted to keep eating, but we were SO full! This place is definitely going to be our go-to Chinese Restaurant! read more

Don't order take out! If you live 20 min away they will tell you 30 to 45 but you will wait a good hour and a half.

Worst dining experience I have ever had!!! DJ changes songs like people change their mind. Noise level was terrible. service was quite slow. and not even free refills on Soda. I shall take my business elsewhere First and last visit here. read more

Food was great, service even better. Worth the trip! Bartenders were especially friendly.

Keep Driving! Terrible experience having dinner there last week. The music was too loud (and they were playing two different styles of music in this small place) and no one knew what to do in order to turn it down. They had to call the manager who came to our table with his hoodie on and his hands in his pockets. Soup came to the table cold and when I asked to have it heated it was an imposition! Then came the cold pu pu platter and gummy rice. Asked for lemon for my rice and the waiter brought me one wedge...WITH HIS HANDS! Asked for additional lemon and he said, "No! that is too much to give you". But he did bring me one more wedge, again, with his hands! Next came the cold pu pu platter complete with hair in it! We were done! read more
