We haven't been here in years since the other place opened up down the road. I found myself in the plaza needing lunch today and figured I'd give it another try. It is dimly lit, there was a guy sitting in the back eating who didn't even acknowledge my presence. Finally another lady came out and she was polite enough. I ordered a dinner plate with rice, chicken fingers, steak terryaki, and crab Rangoon. I also ordered an egg roll and small hot and sour soup. 1. Soup was good, it had a dark broth but was tasty. 2. The crab rangoons were delicious, the filling was good with lots of crab and onion and they were fries nice. 3. Everything else was gross the rice was dark and old, the chicken fingers had a weird texture, and the steak was fatty. The portions were odd, I've never seen rice come in the small part of the take out container? The meal all in all wasn't good the place was dingy and very cold inside. While eating I heard several large belch's come from the kitchen. We won't go back, they are definitely struggling to survive now that there is competition and they offer nothing that makes it worthwhile.

Have you ever seen a portion of rice this small from a Chinese restaurant? Insane.

I stopped here because I was in the area. Not being from this area I took a chance. I went in at 230 pm. No one was in here. The woman who waited on me for take out never got off the phone. I had to ask for clarification because the combo plate said One app came with it. When I asked she was like yeah yeah what u want. She needed to get back on her cell. Everything tasted as if it was reheated and old. Rice was 1/2 cup. ( i measured it when j got home cuz I had to know lol ). Seriously? When was the last time you got Chinese with a tiny portion of rice. It wasn't very good any way so they probably did me a fAvor. I don't live here so avoiding this place is easy but if u do, I'd pick another option.

The rip off wing, apparently very expensive, fix your menu for future patrons.

Pretty good food at reasonable prices. Once in a while the chicken is tougher than I like but the risk is worth the reward.

I usually opt for their combo meals and it's a great way to scratch a Chinese food itch for about $13 or under. With food prices rising lately some items have gone up but it's to be expected. I would consider the place a take-out only deal. Although, they do have tables in the dining area they end up mostly being used by staff and the owners' children. For me, this definitely adds to the overall ambiance of the place. It may be a meme, but I've found it's true that if you get rung out by a child at a Chinese place the food is likely to be fire.

The first time I was here, I had their dinner special and thought it tasted delicious for the price, quantity, and quality. I got it again and ordered the beef and broccoli with pork fried rice and boneless spareribs for less than $13. The spareribs were the appetizer, so there was a decent amount of it. But there was a lot of rice and beef and broccoli to make two meals out of this order. I definitely could've mixed my own white rice with theirs and added fried eggs to make a third The staff was incredibly polite! I remember the first I was there, I was looking up at the pictures to decide want I wanted to get and a little girl came from behind the register and gave me a menu. Super random to add on this review but it was super cute and nice of her to do that! I'm super happy I came across this place and will be trying more dishes in the future!

The garlic broccoli is my top favorite dish from here, it's flavorful and the broccoli is crunchy. I love that they include other vegetables in the dish along with the broccoli. Even when it's busy the staff is always attentive and polite and I've never had an issue with an order being late or incorrect. I highly recommend this place especially if you're vegetarian or vegan, they have a great selection of dishes with no meat or seafood and you can substitute meat for bean curd or tofu.

We dined a little later than the usual lunch hour, and before the dinner hour so the restaurant was not very busy. We had a pleasant server who explained we were too late for the buffet, but could still order the lunch specials. We found the food to be reasonably priced, and was delivered promptly. I tried a chicken lo mein plate with an eggroll. While the lo mein and fried rice were tasty, the eggroll sadly was only warm and very oily, dripping with oil. Perhaps the fryer was not at the proper temperature for a correct fry. The other luncheon plate we tried was beef and brocolli, also very tasty. Oddly, this restaurant does not serve tea, nor does it provide a fortune cookie at the end of the meal. This is the first and only Chinese style restaurant where we've experienced that. Perhaps it was the off hour of the day. Looks like the new ownership has potential, but....

    9 Dragons - General Gau's chicken

9 Dragons is the sister restaurant of the legendary Kowloon restaurant on Route 1 in Saugus, MA…read more While 9 Dragons was opened by the same family and still offers some of the same dishes as the original restaurant, this place is quite the glow up from the Kowloon in regards to the food, atmosphere and service. The restaurant itself is stylish and intimate. The space boasts eye catching decor from neon signs and a mahjong tile doorway to big murals and light fixtures in the form of umbrellas and lanterns. The menu is printed to look and feel like a Hong Kong Hollywood newspaper which I also thought was really cool. The menu here is smaller and more focused than the one at the Kowloon, but I did see that it still offers a handful of the Kowloon's signature dishes. In the case of this restaurant, I definitely feel that the limited menu is essential to producing higher quality dishes. We shared a scorpion bowl cocktail for two, which was served in a cute beckoning cat drinking vessel. For food we got the scallion pancake, the General Gau's chicken and the Brussels sprouts. The food came out about ten minutes after we ordered which initially made me a little bit nervous about the food quality, but once we dug in we could tell that the food was quite fresh. The scallion pancake was nice and crispy on the outside, a little bit chewy on the inside and was served with a ginger sauce for dipping. The Brussels sprouts were prepared Kung Pao style with peanuts and a touch of chili pepper. The General Gau's chicken was fried well, coated in a delightfully sweet and spicy sauce and topped with crispy fried rice noodles. We are just about every morsel on the plates. We knew had to save a little room for dessert here when we saw that they serve a giant chocolate dipped fortune cookie that they smash apart with a mallet right at the table. Served alongside some ice cream, the giant fortune cookie is a super sweet and fun way to finish your time here. Additionally, it came as a pleasant surprise when our check came and it was not quite as high as we were anticipating, especially when you consider that the restaurant is housed inside of a casino. All in all, 9 Dragons left us with a great first impression. A great addition to the Seacoast.

I was…read moreborn and raised just a few minutes from their flagship restaurant, Kowloon in Saugus, MA, so the food at 9 Dragons is not new to me as it's pretty much a smaller scale Kowloon. I live in southern Maine now so it's an hour or so drive to Kowloon. It's only 25 minutes to the Brook and 9 dragons. The decor is dark and what I would call kind of vampy, in a good way. We got our favorites and one new thing. We had chicken fingers, crab rangoons, pork fried rice, and the new to us was the night market popcorn chicken. It was so good! So was the sauce it came with. The night market chicken was described as an Asian Chick-fil-A , and I agree! The nuggets were lightly breaded and seasoned with Chinese 5 spice, so they had a subtle cinnamon flavor. The sauce wasn't spicy, it was just good, almost like a honey mustard. The chicken fingers are lightly battered, unlike most that are all batter and little chicken. The crab rangoons are my favorite of any crab Rangoons! They're not sweet like most, the filling had a very well balanced flavor. They came as an order of 5. I think the fingers were an order of 5 as well, but I'm not sure. The pork fried rice is not greasy. The ambiance is kind of dark and noire, and you don't hear the sounds of the casino from inside the restaurant. After a 20% tip, our order of 5 crab Rangoons, 5 chicken fingers, pork fried rice, night market chicken, a Pepsi and a margarita mocktail (no alcohol) came to about a $100. It was good but definitely overpriced for what we got, but then it is in a casino, so that is probably why it was pricey. I'd go again if I didn't feel like dealing with rte one traffic in Saugus, MA or the hour or so drive to get there, but I wouldn't make 9 Dragons a place to go to on the regular. Side note- we went for the casino too. Small time slot player, I turned $20 into $50 then cashed out. Haha.
