You can really tell they put thought and care into their drinks. The café has great music, wonderful people, and such a positive vibe. Parking: only street parking, very difficult to find on the weekends. Service: Service was alright. Some baristas are more welcoming than others. It took us about 10 minutes in line and another 10 to get our drinks on a Saturday afternoon. We saw some baristas chatting with each other while people waited in line to order, luckily we had ordered before that. There was one barista that was holding down the coffee bar getting drinks out and connecting with customers, he was great! Drinks: The apricot espresso tonic is good, it's in a 12 oz cup wish they offered a 16 oz! The Yala latte without cream top was also pretty good. Ambiance: their storefront is pretty small. YALA keeps me coming back. With the choices of coffee shops in Silverlake and Echo Park, YALA has me returning. I have yet to try their signature sand coffee, but their iced Orange Blossom Latte with Pistachio milk hits the spot. It's just the right amount of orange blossom and not overly floral. I'm not a fan of Lavendar drinks. Stagger coffee also has a great citrus inspired coffee drink. It's a close call, but they each have their highlights. I've also tried their signature YALA latte. It's super creamy with a nice dash of cardamom to enhance the flavor as well as their vanilla fig matcha latte. I appreciate the unique flavor profiles. You still can taste the coffee and matcha without the flavors overwhelming the drink or being overly sweet. The space is minimal with the counter and some side seating. SO SO GOOD! We got the Yala Matchas, Yala Latte, and the Fig Latte and those were delicious! The only thing we don't recommend is the olive lemonade unless you really really like olives? It was TOOOO olive forward for us! Also the seating is pretty nonexistent! So not a place to sit and study or read. It's more of a grab and go! I asked the barista for her recommendation and ordered the "evil eye" hands down 10/10 . Brewed with hot sand, the coffee is truly richer in taste, creamier and obviously super hot. Loved that the barista explained the process of the brewing and added that the small coffee grounds left at the bottom of the cup shouldn't be drank. I've had my shares of Turkish coffee and can honestly say, this one is worth coming for. Parking is scarce, so come knowing you will spend time looking for parking. Finally got a chance to stop by the Yala Silver Lake location! There was a bit of a line and the store itself was busy but the wait wasn't bad. I was craving a matcha and got the fig and vanilla matcha. The matcha itself was high quality, but unlike the fig and vanilla matcha I got at the Studio City location, this matcha did not have the expected fig and vanilla flavor. Not sure if it was because I got the drink less sweet, but I barely tasted any fig if at all. They had also had run out of the freeze dried figs (it was around 2pm) which is not a big deal but I the freeze dried fig on top adds to the overall aesthetic haha. The cafe itself isn't the best spot to hang out as there isn't much seating (one row of seating along the wall) and it felt pretty crowded on the inside on a weekend. Street parking only. I'd say the fig mixture tastes like very sweet honey with a breeze of fig flavor. The drink is beautiful, with a freeze dried fig on top for aesthetic. Such an adorable touch. After the matcha is mixed up, the color isn't half bad. The reason I rate this a 3/5 is because LA is a hotspot for matcha, especially around the silverlake area! Parking can be a bit difficult, but that's understandable since Studio City is known for limited parking. That said, the coffee here is absolutely delicious and truly high quality. The café was busy, the service was great, and the overall experience was excellent. I've visited more than 70% of the coffee shops in Orange County, and from my experience, the quality and flavor of coffee in Los Angeles are on a completely different level. Most coffee shops in Orange County taste almost exactly the same--they feel rushed and lack creativity. Here in LA, the coffee is so much better. I'm actually surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating, but I guess that's just because the competition in LA is incredibly fierce. I came to this location because the other location was way to far for me as someone visiting from across the country and staying in DTLA. I got the Evil Eye, Yala latte and the Fig Matcha latte and let me just say that even if you have to go out of your way to come here - please do! I thought about it but couldn't pick a favorite because all three of our drinks were so delicious - especially the cardamom foam top was chef's kiss! The evil eye is small but mighty - sand coffee topped with cardamom foam and rimmed with sugar so every sip sends you to heaven. It is very hot so be careful to not take a big sip as soon as you get it. If you aren't the adventurous kind, get the Yala because it was a very delicious creamy latte with even creamier cardamom foam top. Some people complain about the sweetness of the Fig Matcha latte but for me it was perfection! There was actual fig pulp at the bottom and freeze dried fig on top which made it even more delightful. My favorite was definitely the regular matcha with the cream top that one was simple and really good.
