We tried the Dubai Cheesecake, and it was delicious--sweet, creamy, and full of flavor.

We walked back out and found the door to the restaurant. Staff is warm and friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server was Robert and he was great! He gave his recommendations for which sides would go best with our meals and I felt they were spot on. They give complimentary bread and butter. It was warm and delicious. Hubby ordered the rib tips with fries, baked beans, and had the hot and mild barbecue sauce on the side. I ordered the 1/2 dark smoked chicken dinner with mac-n-cheese, spicy Cajun green beans, and spicy honey garlic barbecue sauce. I agree with Robert, that the sauce pairs very well with the chicken. The tips were tender and falling off the bone. He didn't care for the fries and loved the baked beans, even though they were a bit too spicy for him. My chicken was also very tender and I enjoyed the smokiness. The green beans had the right amount of spice although they were not as spicy as the baked beans. The mac-n-cheese was creamy. We were too full to order dessert. Maybe next time. This is a great neighborhood staple and will definitely be back.

The lighting and décor felt festive without being overwhelming, and the space itself is huge. There's plenty of room whether you're dining with family, catching a game with friends, or just unwinding with drinks after a long day. Speaking of drinks, they're very reasonably priced--definitely worth opening a tab and relaxing for a while. For food, I tried Chuck's Wings with roasted vegetables and Cajun fries. Nothing is ever truly perfect, but these wings came close. The sauce was spot-on--easily some of the best I've had. The vegetables were cooked just right and packed with flavor, and the Cajun fries tied everything together perfectly. Overall, this spot delivers on both atmosphere and quality. Definitely worth checking out.

My dad got the barbocoa burrito and I got the Mar y Tierra-skirt steak and shrimp wrapped in bacon. It's funny bc I ordered well done steak and it looked burnt but it wasn't! It was really tasty as was the shrimp. A little too much salt and they forgot my tortillas. The guacamole and salsa were really really good as were the chips. They have a to go counter so it made picking up the order quick and easy. People seemed to be enjoying themselves while dining. Overall, would reccomend and would come again.

We arrived around 4 pm and there was about a 25 minute wait. It is cozy so there were people waiting outside. The decor is more modern than traditional. They have a bar and TVs. Staff are warm and friendly and our server was Dulce. It was a busy day yet she would periodically check in to see how we were doing. We ordered the table side guacamole. It was made fresh at our table and hubby added a little more salt to it. We were also served a small bowl of salsa. The chips are warm and fresh. Hubby ordered the combo fajitas and a strawberry margarita. I ordered the steak enchiladas rojas and a pina colada. Everything was seasoned well and we enjoyed our meals. Kudos to the bartender for making great drinks!

This isn't just plant-based food -- it's thoughtful, balanced, and crafted with real love. I had the fish tacos (yes, vegan -- and absolutely convincing), the corn ribs, mushroom sandwich, truffle fries, mushroom quesadilla, horchata, and Jamaica. Not one miss. Every single item was a hit. The flavors are layered without being heavy. Comforting without being greasy. Satisfying without the crash. You leave feeling full but light -- the kind of meal where your mouth, your stomach, and your health all say "thank you." If you go, honestly? Do yourself a favor: order a sandwich and a drink. Sit with it. Taste it. Let it speak for itself. This is the kind of place we need not just to survive, but to thrive. You can feel the family behind it. The mom. The owner. The care. The pride. The love is truly in the food. Oak Lawn is lucky to have them. Go hungry. Leave grateful.

I got the Fish Dinner Tacos ($25), and my husband got Flautas de Papa ($18). I was eyeballing their Pozole or Menudo but didn't really want to pay $22 for a bowl of soup. Everything on the menu just felt too expensive, especially for being in a casual atmosphere outside the city. Quesadilla La Reina del Sur has a plethora of vegan tacos you can get for like $4 each. I was in the mood for dessert, but even something as simple as 2 cookies with milk would be $24, so we went elsewhere. The food was fine, and the service was fairly attentive, but nothing blew me out of the water for these prices. They also added a 3.5% fee to the bill.

I got the Pistachio Waffle with cannoli filling and cherry infused mascarpone whipped cream, and it was unreal. Perfectly sweet, rich without being too heavy, and such a fun twist on a waffle. My friend got the Basic AF breakfast with eggs your way, house potatoes, a choice of side meat, and toast or pancakes. Classic breakfast done really well. Drinks were a highlight too. I had the Liquid Sunshine with peach vodka, peach schnapps, orange, pineapple, and Sprite, and it was so amazing. Light, refreshing, and perfect for brunch. My friend got the Scooby Snack with Malibu, banana liqueur, Midori, pineapple, and Sprite, which was just as good and super fun. Our service was incredible, especially considering the weather. The staff was friendly and attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless despite the snowstorm outside. However, I quickly noticed the limited menu, particularly regarding non-pork options. After reviewing it several times, I decided to stay and give the place a try. Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor. My veggie omelette was overcooked, leaving it dry and unappetizing. The buffalo wings were enormous, almost like they had been injected with steroids, but they also lacked that necessary zing. Additionally, the service was disappointing. The waiter seemed bothered whenever we asked for basic items like jelly, napkins, or condiments for my omelette, which detracted from the overall experience. In summary, while the atmosphere was charming, the food and service did not meet expectations. I would rate this place a one out of five and will definitely not be returning.

Staff was really cool, super friendly, just easygoing. I got the two eggs with sausage links and a side of pancakes. The eggs were cooked perfectly sunny side up with that rock yellow yolk running everywhere, just the way I like them. The links were also really good, with a nice smoky flavor. But honestly the pancakes were the whole thing for me. Super fluffy, soft all the way through. Golden on the outside, warm inside. Butter just melted right into them and I had to drown them in syrup, there's no other way. Every bite was soft and sweet without being too much. I almost didn't finish them... almost. I'd come again just for those pancakes.

I felt the entire meal was just OK. The corned beef hash was crumbly and though I was told it was made in house, it didn't seem like it. The hash browns and eggs were cooked fine but lacked seasoning. The pancakes were too thick and even though I paid $3.50 more for blueberries, they were hard to find within the actual pancake. The majority of blueberries were placed on top or around the pancakes. My sister's banana foster French toast was the best thing I tasted, so kudos to the cook for that dish. Otherwise, everything else we felt was just average and the prices were above average. My son's strawberry lemonade was $6, and it was fountain lemonade with a strawberry puree syrup added to the glass. Everything added up quickly to $100 for three of us so watch what you order and add on to your meal. I wouldn't return but it was a nice place aesthetically and location-wise. Also, our server Erica was quite pleasant and attentive.
