Zmzm sweets was my first foray into bridgeview bakeries. The interior is very intentionally designed and there's a wealth of pastries to choose from. The staff were extremely friendly and more than happy to walk us through their various options. They even offered us a free piece of soft knafeh when I expressed curiosity about it, it was delicious. The pastries themselves are really good. They have the viral fruit shaped pastries and traditional middle eastern desserts. The standout to me was their knafeh. I took a frozen knafeh tray to make at home. First, we were overcharged for the tray and didn't realize until we got home. I checked the prices online on their website and that is not what we were charged. I made an effort to allow them to correct this by giving them a call, no one answers the phone. Then when I took the tray out to put in the oven I realized a corner was burnt. So now on top of being overcharged, a part of knafeh was burnt prior to me placing it in the oven. I usually have no issues when I am eating in person, but sadly this experience was not the same. This is really upsetting and left us without a resolution. I like to support businesses that have integrity and care about the service and products they are offering their customers. Zmzm sweets I personally feel does not care about customers experience nor provides a way to remedy problems. All we are left to do is leave a review and hope we can bring attention to the issues that they should care about resolving. Looking over some other customer reviews I am very doubtful that anyone will follow up in the odd chance someone does I look forward to addressing the issues at hand. read more

This place is about 10 mins from Little Palestine in Bridgeview. The parking lot is plentiful. You have to be careful at night or on the weekend nights because people do not know how to drive or park. I wouldn't be surprised if car accidents happen frequently in this area. Aside from that, you won't have a problem finding seating. That is if you go on a weekday or a slow day on the weekend. When it's busy on a Saturday night, you will have to wait for a table. They have tables outside and inside. On your right side, you will have those viral fruit dessert cakes and drinks. On your left side towards the windows, you'll find ice cream. Then you'll have baklavas, kunafas, maamouls, bird's nest, etc. Most of the dry desserts have a lot of pistachios, cashews, and walnuts. The downside is that most of the products are not labeled nor do they list a price in the case. You will have to ask. Not all of the staff understand English either. Prices are not bad. The ice cream is overpriced for one scoop. You can get that cheaper in Bridgeview. Most of the staff was nice, some of them could work on their attitude better. If they labeled their products, people wouldn't ask so many questions. We tried kunafa, pistachio baklava, 3 different kinds of bird's nest, passion fruit ice cream, and 2 different matcha drinks. The kunafa was excellent. It was fresh, hot, cheesy, and chewy. The pistachio baklava was good, not sweet at all. We tried the lotus, Nutella, and pistachio bird's nest. The lotus and pistachio are not too sweet. Nutella is rich if you love chocolate. The bird's nest was soft and crispy. The ice cream was good, they put in real pieces of passion fruit. I had the pomegranate matcha drink and it was good, make sure you stir it well. Overall, this is a 4 out of 5. Great dessert spot! We came for a little late night treat after having mansaf and just wanted a little snack. We were greeted by the twinkling lights out front and a lively crowd! We got the mango ice cream and several slices of knafeh. We were in the midst of enjoying our treats and the manager walked over and gave us an additional slice of knafeh for free, simply because it was the freshest batch just out. Ambiance was relaxing and plenty of space for big or small groups. If you like coffee, this one is for you. If you like a fruitier taste, the mango is phenomenal. Today was a "dilly dally" type of day. While out, I stopped by Zm Zm's to try their fruit pastries currently viral on tik tok. It's a nice size establishment. It's brightly lit inside, highlighting all there yummy treats Each fruit pastry is $10 and I ordered a lemon, raspberry, blueberry and mango. First, I thought these were pastries not ice cream with fruit jelly center which was a bit disappointing. Of all the flavors, mango and raspberry were my favorite. Lemon was good also but the fruit center was extremely zesty. Zmzm Sweets is one of the few places worth the drive from the city. I came across Zmzm Sweets from a video on social media discussing the Dubai chocolate. My friend and I quickly hopped in her car to check it out for ourselves. It's a little over 1.5+ hours from where I live so I recommend making an adventure out of the visit. The parking lot at Zmzm Sweets is massive so you shouldn't have any problem finding parking or locating the restaurant. The signage out front makes it hard to miss the entrance. The inside of Zmzm Sweets is massive! My friend and I came early so there were a ton of seats but I doubt you'd have a problem grabbing a seat during the peak hours. I've been to a few Middle Eastern dessert spots in Albany Park but Zmzm Sweets is the next level. I have never seen so many dessert options. It was overwhelming (in a good way!). Luckily my friend and I came during a non-peak hour so we were able to ask questions or get a sample of some desserts. I HIGHLY recommend the Dubai chocolate baklava. I had one bite of it and almost bought the whole pan. I struggle to put into words how delicious the Dubai chocolate baklava was. I would say that treat alone made the trip worth it. Went there today as we wanted to check out the hype of a Dubai chocolate. But first, the space is clean, fairly large and I have to say, their staff are very friendly and helpful. We even got free samples of the baklava! Also have ample parking space and cute decor. We ended up buying two flavors of baklava and they were scrumptious. Not too sweet, which has been the challenge with other baklavas. We tried another dessert that had Oreo - it was okay but would not be buying that again. Then tried the bird's nest with pistachio- that was very flavorful and they do not skimp on the nuts. Then to the piece de resistance - ordered a bar of the Dubai chocolate. I have to say, both my husband and I were pleasantly surprised. Not having an idea of what a Dubai chocolate is, we did not expect it to have knafeh inside with all its gooey deliciousness. We started with a small serving of Kasseri Saganaki; warm griddled Greek cheese with a light crust of shredded phyllo dough on the top, drizzled with honey and crushed pistachios. I can't say that I loved it, it was different, but I am glad that I tried it. Then we tried the really thick chocolate bars stuffed with pistachio cream and toasted, shredded phyllo dough. While a few results came up in a recent search for Dubai chocolates around Chicagoland, this was the only place out of three that actually had them on display. Our first time going there, we selected a handful of options from what was displayed on their counter along with a heart-shaped Dubai chocolate. Having more labels next to all of the trays would really help with identifying what's what. From what I can tell based on the appearance and how quickly the chocolate melts, I don't think the chocolate is tempered. The Knafeh heart was $7.21 We also had a Kanafa Nutella ($7.06) and Knafeh Kheshneh ($7.21); the pricing seems odd in that it doesn't come to a round number. We ate inside on our first visit. It is spacious, but it seems to get busy during certain times. We recently returned and got three bars of Dubai chocolate for a total of $18.70. This definitely seems a bit pricey. The layout can be confusing because where the signs indicate to order is removed from the displays of treats, so it's hard to indicate what you want to order. Knafeh tray. Paid close to 100.00 and it is a lump of mold. I bought this on the 24th fresh out of the oven . I even waited for them to make it FRESH . This is the 2nd time our knafeh has transformed into a lump of mold. I drove over an hour to pick this up for Christmas, and the following day it had turned to mold overnite. Entered ZMZM and was immediately impressed by its beautiful, culturally rich decor, most intriguing was the hot sand table used to make coffee. They have outdoor seating and it's awesome to see families enjoying sweets next to a warm fire place and just having the best conversations. We were on a road trip from Indiana and needed just a small push to reach our suburban home and that push came in the form of knafeh. There was a line to get sweets but it moved fast. The restaurant is extremely spacious, clean, with lots of big tables for big groups and probably could accommodate a large banquet! There is a giant parking lot in front of this place. As soon as you enter, you can see the giant display of a huge variety of beautiful Middle Eastern pastries. We pretty much got one of everything because we couldn't say no to any of the pastries. Everything was extremely delicious- not too sweet, dangerously light and flaky, with a generous amount of nut fillings. My favorite of the day was hands down the kunafa. I had this for the first time in California a few weeks ago, got my mind blown by the cool texture of the cheese and explosion of flavor this holds. I haven't stopped thinking about this pastry since and have been on the search for the best one in the Chicago area... and I think i found it here! The kunafa had a crunchy sweet crumbly coating and the sugar syrup on top is not too sweet and added a nice floral flavor to wrap around the gooey cheesy interior. Its a beautiful mix of sweet and savory, I could have eaten a whole baking tray of this! The cashew baklava was also so flakey and so delicious. The cashew filling had a good amount of finely chopped cashews and the pastry around it was fresh, light, crunchy, and melted in my mouth! I also really enjoyed the pistachio sorma. It had a unique soft yet crunchy texture and a great punch of pistachio flavor! Another highlight was the pistachio kanafeh. It had a very cool light crunch from the threads of pastry. The pistachio creme was light and savory and was layered throughout the interior and exterior of the pastry. I've never had anything like it and really loved the texture! I've been a loyal customer at Zmzm Sweets for a while, often bringing my family to enjoy their desserts. However, after my experience last night, I will not be returning. I initially visited with a friend and ordered the Dubai chocolate strawberries, only to be met with unnecessary attitude from the staff. I brushed it off and continued my night. Later, I returned to pick up Atayif for my family. I asked the cashier in Arabic for 10 pieces of cheese Atayif. Instead of responding professionally, he laughed at my pronunciation of "cheese" and dismissively said they didn't have 10 pieces--without offering any alternatives. I was left confused, as he gave me no indication of what was available. Trying to be polite, I laughed it off and explained it was for my parents, then asked what they did have. When I proceeded to order four pieces of each available sweet, he rolled his eyes at his coworker, and they both laughed at me while packaging my order. My friends and I were taken aback by how blatantly rude they were. As a Palestinian, I would expect better service from a place in an area known as "Little Palestine." Nevertheless, I remained polite, thanked them, and paid--only for them to continue laughing and rolling their eyes. I don't know if this is due to new management, but I can confidently say I won't be returning, and I encourage others to take their business elsewhere. What an ambiance! You definitely feel like you're walking into a Knafa Bakery in Jordan. Very modern, beautiful decor, lots of seating. They have a wide selection of sweets, but you either want their bakdash (arabic gum ice cream) or their knafa. While I'm still not sure what the ordering process is here, it always changes and I'm not sure if I order first up front, at the counter, or sit and wait for service...I still don't know to be honest. It needs to be much clearer. However, once you get the way to order figured out, it's very good. The knafa is almost always fresh, because it's in high demand. Their traditional baklawas are very good, too. When they make the bakdash ice cream, they do quite a show of it, to resemble how they do it overseas. Today, I came all the way from Indiana and was very disappointed with the product I received. The cheese tasted artificial, almost like plastic, and did not separate or melt as it should. I called the store to address this issue, but the employee told me that the manager was "too busy" and refused to provide any solution or let me speak with him directly.
