I'm a big fan of basbousa/harissa, so I was disappointed to discover that my old haunt Albasha Sweets went downhill. I've tried other Middle Eastern dessert places in this area, but can' t say I was blown away by any one place. I do feel that every time I go to Prince Sweets the desserts are pretty good, so I decided to do a fun little experiment. I looked at all the dessert places in the area and found one I had never been to -- Nablus Sweets. I went there and got a couple pieces of basbousa (and my wife got some knafeh). I then went to Prince Sweets and got one piece each of three different types of basbousa: plain, coconut, and nut-topped. After getting home I made myself a cup of herbal tea and had a basbousa showdown. First I tried Nablus' basbousa. It was nice and moist. It had a nice texture, but it crumbled apart pretty easily. It was sweet enough without being cloyingly so. In short, it was very good. My wife liked it, too. I then tried a bit of each of Prince's basbousa. I noticed that Prince's version is harder and holds together better, but that it's also sweeter since it's drenched with more simple syrup. Having a variety was nice, but it's hard to say definitely whether Nablus or Prince is better. Both are very good. In fact, I'd say these are the top two Middle Eastern dessert places in this area as of right now. If you want sweeter, then go with Prince. They have a bigger variety of desserts there, too. But if you want something traditional, sophisticated, and subtly sweet, then go with Nablus. Both offer nice desserts. The parking is tight at Nablus, but the interior feels more welcoming. Service seems friendlier at Nablus, too. Parking isn't great at Prince, either. If price is a concern, Prince is cheaper (average $2/piece vs Nablus' average $3.50/piece). read more

I used to love coming here and they have this board on the wall that measures how much you can purchase for that price. I have seen the prices go from $15 to $20 to $25 now 30$ for that same sized styrofoam plate. I went in there tonight and the man with the scar on his forehead tells me no now it is by weight. He tells me only certain ones can go on his styrofoam plate. WHAT A SCAMMER! Every time I go in there I am getting overcharged. The guy makes it up as he goes on. I asked him 3 times when did it go by weight on only certain desserts and finally he says a few weeks ago BULL! I have to say even thou the sweets were the best ive had the customer service def lacks! Came in here on Wednesday about 3pm. After being recommended to this place I decided to try it out since I was in the area and love kunafe! Upon arriving there was a gentlemen sitting down on the phone. After looking around he finally helped me and asked what i would like briskly. He seemed he was to busy on the phone rather than with the customer. I felt rushed, i had questions about sweets i never seen but he was in such a rush i didn't even get to ask. The over all sweets were really good! Middle eastern sweet shops are on every few blocks here in bridgeview. I've tried all of them and usually they are a hit or miss, not consistent. Prices are same as the others but I feel like the taste is better here, they are not drenched in syrup to cover the flavors like the other shops. I just love the knafe, warbat and awama here. I also will recommend the bakalava it's good! Many of times I have bought mixed trays for friends and family that can be picky when it comes to middle eastern sweets. Usually it's a hit when I do! The Guys are usually nice too, they take debit and cash. I'm here at least every two weeks only because it's a drive here. But I make sure to stop when I drive through the area. read more

This is definitely the most authentic kanafeh I've had in/around Chicago. I've tried several but this is the closest to the kanafeh in Palestine and Nablus. My family comes here frequently and orders knafeh for all types of occasions. They were our go to until today. We placed an order far in advance for a tray of knafeh with extra cheese and extra crispy. When I came to pick it up the place smelled amazing and the guy in the front was sweet and offered me samples. I picked up my order and went home. When we were serving sweets, the way the knafeh looked, I knew it wasn't right. I took the first bite and couldn't even chew it, I was grossed out. It was paper thin, barely any cheese let alone was mixed with geshta when we requested it only be cheese. It wasn't crispy as all whatsoever. I called thinking that I was given the wrong order by accident, the "owner" snapped on me on the phone and offered me $5 back. I live in Chicago, I've tried every sweet shop up north. I've even gotten stuff from Wisconsin and Michigan. I have never had the Knafah that I have had here. Very fresh and very flavorful. I drive down once a month just to get the Knafah. I've only discovered this place back in November 2017. It is not expensive as what some people say, trust me. I've paid 28$ for 2 pieces of psuedo knafah up in Albany park, I paid half that for 4 pieces in bridgeview at prince sweets. This is the place for Knafah hands down. Khishnah gang.
