hidden in the plaza here it is. Mom went to an appointment for dental work and of course we got out early and here we were, lets try them out as mom wanted an ice cream. Of course I am not much of an ice cream kind of guy but what mom wants, mom gets! Here we go, she wanted a waffle cone with something strawberries. They had a cheesecake ice cream with strawberry swirl and she raved about it. Of course I had a tiny spoonful to taste and it was really good. I didn't want this as I wanted something more with heat so I had a nachos with cheese and jalapenos. Whoa, it was very good. They give you tons of cheese over the tortilla chips and she also gave a ton of jalapenos. Finally I don't have to ask for more! And the two ladies were so kind. Even though they had a few patrons in the shop, everyone seemed to of enjoyed their desserts and that was a plus as I didn't see one crabby person in the shop! I also tried the elote and again, it was just as good as the elotero (corn man on street) does them. Except very well executed in a cup full of butter and mayo. Of course if you are watching what you eat, you may not want to order 2000+ calorie corn! LOL, but seriously, the fact that they do take plastic cards or cash is good, as I will be posting soon on a shop (similar to this one) who only takes cash! I am so happy that I took a moment to stop by La Michoacana during my visit to the area. From the outside the ice cream shop does not look that big but it is very spacious inside. The inside could easily accommodate a nice sized group of ice cream lovers. La Michoacana is definitely what you would expect a neighborhood ice cream shop to be like, it was brightly colored and the staff seemed to know a lot of the regulars. La Michoacana has a large selection of delicious treats. The ice cream was pretty delicious and I got to try a few flavors. The prices were very reasonably priced and the serving sizes were great. I did have a little trouble communicating with the first employee because of translation issues but another employee stepped in and was able to translate what flavors we settled on. I loved the experience because it was a small indicator of the great community that lives around the shop. If you're in the neighborhood I would strongly recommend stopping by La Michoacana! read more

I've come here a few times and it's always a hit or miss. Some of the ladies there are nice and there's always the one lady with dark hair that's rude and talks to customers as if they're stupid. I was a regular customer and so far had no complaints; however, today i went to buy several desserts. I waited over 25 minutes, finally, one of the girls took my order. I ordered a strawberry milkshake with strawberries and no ice cream. When the girl started preparing my milkshake I saw her putting ice cream in the blender, but when she noticed that I saw her she went to put some of it back. Then, I noticed that she was using the leftover milk sitting on top of the counter. When she gave me the Shake I tasted it and it tasted funny and not cold as the milk had been sitting on top of the counter since I got there. She asked me if I wanted her to add more sugar and I said, that was'nt the problem. She went to talk the manager, he came and very rudly said that the milkshake was fine because he had tasted it. I told me that the ice cream was not the problem it was the milk that has been sitting on the top of the corner since I got there. Then, he said he wasn't going to give me another milkshake and for her to give you my money back. He was very rude and that wasn't the way to handle my complain. When I asked him for his name he told me it was Ron and that he was the manager. I finally ended the dispute by leaving the money on the counter, and I told him that I was going to give them a bad rating and he said he didnt care. I think as a customer, we should be treated with respect and he should have handled it a different way. I will not purchase anything from them again. read more

I honestly love the place every time I go but TODAY! Was different I ordered an XL cup of fruit and I was very upset that the lady did not cut the fruit in front of me or put salt and lemon before pouring it in the cup , she had me eat a whole bunch of Tajin at the top and lemon was all the way at the bottom so middle fruit tastes really nasty will not be buying fruit from there again ! A piece of advise ! Why not mix everything in a bowl first and then pour it in a cup instead of me having to eat fruit that has half lemon on the bottom and a bunch of Tajin at the top !
