On our recent trip to Chicago, we were meeting friends for Wicker Park Fest, but on one condition, and that was that we met them at Mindy's Bakery for a few treats before heading into the gates. And honestly, I think a stop here for all future visits to Wicker Park now rely on this condition being met! While the baked goods are where it is at, the smell alone was worth selling itself. After we got a few whiffs, we made out way to the counter and did the ole "Ill take that, and this, oh and that too..." and ended up with a wide variety of cookies, tarts, danishes and cakes. All of which were absolutely delightful! Out of our haul, the peanut butter cookie was the highlight for me, and the raspberry crumble bar was it for my partner. Everything in between was delish, but a few things definitely stood out! Service was stellar from entry to exit. They knew we were newbies, so they helped us pick the best of the best. The space is gorgeous, bright, welcoming and classic. They definitely let the baked goods be just as much a part of the decor as the actual artwork. Their seasonal banana cold foam cold brew is so stinkin good! The cold foam itself is super thick so as you drink your cold brew, quite literally every single sip gets that fantastic cold foam. The bagel, croissant, and peanut butter cookie were all so good! The dough used for the bagel and croissant is so scrumptious. I opted to get the ham and cheese croissant and it was a great balance. Both Bialays are a perfect savory treat!  I can't wait to come back and try more of the baked goods, especially the coffee cakes. read more

I've been to Mindy's a few times now and have never had a problem finding a treat to enjoy. There are wide variety of pastry items, breakfast sandwiches, and beverages. My favorite, along with many others, is the iced banana bread latte. Definitely get it with the vanilla cinnamon cold foam! I've had a variety of pastries here, but particularly love the coffee cakes and cookies. The breakfast sandwich is also really great if it's fresh. The staff for the most part have been very warm and friendly. If it's busy, they are less likely to want to chat about the options and give a recommendation, so come in with a few ideas of what you're looking for if you come on a weekend! The store itself is very cute, with lots of wood and warm colors. There is limited seated outside on a few benches. I recommend walking to the park to enjoy your treats and coffee. read more

You can get a variety of options in Mindy's bakery, and your pups can get a variety too. There are a number of savory and sweet baked items. They have an insane line up of fresh baked items and to choose an is an even bigger problem (a good problem). The line was extremely long, it took us 20 to 25 minutes on a Saturday to pick up a couple fresh baked goods and some pop treats. Everything was fresh and the service was extremely efficient but the lines were unimaginable and very rightly so as the bakery is very aesthetically pleasing and their packaging is great, everything is top-notch. I get why they are so popular. The taste of the baked items was excellent. We had a great time trying a little bit of everything that we ordered and I highly recommend trying this place. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon Mindy's Bakery during a late morning in Wicker Park. While we had heard about it, we did not know how good it would be. After a long night of drinking, and the wait times being busy at all other establishments, can I just say that Mindy's truly saved the day. The pastries are like nothing I have ever tasted. Sweet yet savory. I hear I missed out on the banana bread, so I know I will have to make my way back during my next visit to Chicago. I've been a fan since their Hot Chocolate days. I normally visit during the week at mid-morning and there are usually a good selection of sweet and savory baked goods. My usual go-to items are the plain croissant, hot fudge babka, hot fudge rugelach, and hot fudge croissant. The mister and I recently had a car maintenance appointment on a Friday morning so we made an effort to have a savory breakfast at Mindy's. There is a small ledge inside and outside the store with a few benches so you could enjoy your coffee and food before heading out. We had the breakfast sandwich with pistachio mortadella, American cheese, crisp parmesan, and fried egg. It was easily one of the best. The bun was extremely fluffy and held up really well. I would really like to recreate that crispy parmesan with my own homemade breakfast sandwiches. The bialy with vodka sauce, basil pesto, and mozzarella is not to be missed either. Both sandwiches can be a bit messy but it is worthwhile! I am looking forward to our next visit! read more

Came here on a Saturday morning around 9:30am. Me and my partner waited in line for about 15 minutes. There were about 20 people ahead of us and the line behind us grew a lot! I got the weekend breakfast sandwich with mortadella, egg, and a Parmesan crust. It was so good. Like incredibly good. I did not love the Parmesan because it was too salty but that's the point! I also got the vegan banana bread with chocolate chips, and my partner got a blueberry pastry. All was well done! Got in line at 8:55 and got inside by 8:58, then had everything in hand by 9:04. Super efficient. The spot blends Eastern European, French, Italian, and Middle Eastern influences, and you can tell in the variety. The bagels were great once heated up 9/10. Before heating they were a bit hard, but after they had a really nice texture and unique flavor. The giardiniera cream cheese wasn't my favorite though, a little too much going on compared to simpler cream cheeses 5/10. The banana bread au lait was sooo good 9.5/10. Really unique, more of a dessert drink, not too strong on coffee but still there. The s'mores croissant was almost perfect 9.6/10. Flaky, crispy on the outside, soft on the bottom, and great chocolate flavor without being too buttery. First time trying babka and I get the hype now 9/10! The stories are true! This bakery was poppin the two times I went but they serviced everyone pretty quickly. The pastries are large and taste great. I went two different days and they had a lot of variety both days. I will say the blueberry bagel was a bit burnt and chewy so I wouldn't order that again. But their other pastries are so good. I recently reached out to Mindy's for a birthday cake for my sisters birthday. The process was incredibly smooth to get my order in and confirmed. The woman who replied to my email request was kind, understanding and knowledgeable as she walked me through the whole process. They were clear up front about not doing heavy design work but since it's Mindy's, everything is always so good that I was here for the flavors not necessarily design. Then they suggested fresh flowers to lift the cake up and admittedly I had no idea how it would turn out. Well let me tell you all, this was the prettiest, best tasting cake I've ever had before. People stopped me as I was walking out with it to admire it. The people at the restaurant we hosted the party at wanted to know where it was from. Mindy's deserves all the praise it gets!! Seriously, from the second I stepped in the door I knew I would love it. There was a short line on a Saturday around 10:30 but it moved very quickly! They have their system down. There is nowhere to sit inside though, so you do have to be in and out and find a place to go to enjoy your pastries. Staff were so friendly!! I got the banana au lait and it was perfect, not too sweet and not too much banana. I tried the potato leek danish and the almond croissant. Both were soooo good! Been waiting to go to this award-winning bakery - surprisingly light traffic at 9am on a Friday. Got 2 savory pastries as well as the dubai pistachio croissant. The savory pastries were so fluffy and taste was on point, but the dubai pistachio croissant wasn't invoking the flavors I was familiar with - felt more like a chocolate croissant. The drinks were the absolute highlight of the menu - would go back for just buying their hot chocolate powder - so incredibly rich and decadent and maybe the best hot chocolate out there. The banana latte was also incredibly decadent, sweet, and not artificial-tasting at all . Both drinks are must-trys! Cute, small interior that will often times have a line crawling out the door. Stopped by on a day of bopping around town. I asked the gal at the counter to help me pick some things. She recommended a Bolognese Danish, a Dubai pistachio brownie, and I added an everything bagel and took it all to go. The Danish was by far my favorite. The pastry was flaky, heavenly, and the filling rich and meaty. This is a pastry worth crossing town for. The brownie was fine, but maybe I'm over the Dubai chocolate trend. It didn't really come together as a unified dessert for me. I wanted the brownie to be richer, fudgier, maybe even a bit sweeter. I would probably get something else next time. The everything bagel was a good texture, but the fennel seeds in the seasoning took me so far away from the classic "everything." They overpowered the other flavors, but the texture was fantastic. This placed was popping up on my social media, so I wanted to give it a try. I tried the onion bialy ($6). It was okay. I would not get that again or recommend it. I could taste the caramelized onions, but nothing to write home about. I prefer pastries with stronger flavors or just more filling/flavor to bread ratio. I even tried heating it up! I tried a few bites of another savory pastry with salami, egg, pimento cheese, and chive. That one tasted like a fancy pizza. I think it's better than the biatly. Overall, a little disappointed. Maybe I tried the wrong things? I saw pretty mixed reviews on the banana coffee and their sweet pastries. Service was quick yet the staff makes the environment feel very friendly and warm! Came here on a Wednesday morning and there was no wait. We ordered the 2 Ham, Mustard, & Gruyère croissants, 1 marbled coffee cake, and 2 banana bread au laits. Our order was packed and ready immediately after we paid so service is really quick. Everything was pretty tasty and the flavors went well together, the only complaint is the mustard in the croissant. I understand why this place is so popular!! I came in wanting to get the cinnamon rolls but I didn't realize that they only have them on the weekend, so I just grabbed whatever caught my eye. The dream bar (with Soft Shortbread, Chocolate & Brown Sugar Meringue) (5/5) was amazing! The meringue on top and the shortbread were so good together. This was very sweet and I loved it!! The cherry cheesecake turnover (4/5) was also good. My sweet tooth loved the cheesecake part ofc and my bf who loves cherries enjoyed this a lot too. Great texture as well. The almond croissant was generously filled while not being overly baked. Nice chewy inside and flaky outside. The morning bun and "cheddar bomb" were both perfectly executed and worth a try. But the real show stopper ( while all dreamy) was the banana bread. OMG!!! It's moist, it's sturdy, it's banana-y, it's velvety, it has banana chunks and like a cheese cake cream, it's literally probably the best pastry I've ever had. Top 3 for sure. Everything about it was perfect then some. This is a bakery I would catch a flight from Atlanta to visit and fly back home. I would literally take a day trip just to go eat all their pastries and come back home. The love, the passion, and the dedication to the product that they put out is obvious. Mindy and her team do impeccable work! The only feedback that I can give is that they open a location closer to me, or offer shipping! My mom always get croissants from Mindy's....if they aren't sold out! Very delicious, buttery and flaky heaven! Today my mom ordered the Vanilla Buttermilk Cake with Caramel Buttercream!!!! And father god (in Foxcito's voice) AMAZINGLY rich. The cake is dense but in a good way because it's soaked (not soggy) in a brown butter sauce. Then topped with a buttery caramel buttercream. I came here just before close on a very cold and snowy day. My friend says the line is usually ridiculously long so we might as well try it out when it's empty. It's very snug inside - not a ton of seating. It's definitely designed to be grab and go. Since it was near close, our options were very limited. I got a slice of their buttered rum gingerbread cake and my friend got a slice of their chocolate buttermilk cake. I thought their gingerbread cake was amazing, and I don't typically go for those flavors. The frosting was just the right mix of sweet and salty. The top of the cake slice had this caramelized crunchy top that added a delightful textural element. I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it and would highly recommend it! read more

A Highly recommended bakery for both savory and sweet pastries and bagels. They also have a good variety of gluten free items for those with dietary restrictions. You'll always notice a line here (especially on the weekends). Note that towards the end of the day the stock on some items might be sold out, so the earlier you go the better. The line wasn't too bad and it went pretty efficiently. We felt a little rushed by the staff at the very front since you basically have to know exactly what you want so they can start bagging it up for you. You might feel some pressure and be overwhelmed as you are looking at all of the items on display with your prices. You follow down the line where they ring you up and pay at the end. BE aware this has a much higher price tag than the normal bakery. I got one savory, one sweet pastry, and a coffee and it came to nearly $30. I don't see myself coming here on the daily because of the price tag, but it's a nice little treat. I will give it to them with Mindy's creativity and seasonal item offerings. There's things I've never seen before and I always like to get the things I can't get anywhere else or thing I can only get on "weekends" or what's seasonal. You can look at the menu online and they have a pretty up to date version with prices and descriptions ( I wish they offered some sort of visual along with it). Sometimes they post their live offerings on instagram so you also can keep with with them this way. There's not very many places to sit here. There's some benches on the outside and very few bar countertops on the inside, so I got the feeling they'd prefer if you take it and go. I got the butterscotch banana latte (no option for non diary here). It actually wasn't too overpowering on any flavor, but the taste was there. I would've like the coffee flavor to be stronger and for them to have oat or almond milk. I got the Mindy's breakfast sandwich which was unique with the runny egg on top and cooked inside of the hole of the bagel. Be aware if could get messy when you take a bite ! MINDY'S BREAK FAST SANDWICH (PISTACHIO MORTADELLA, AMERICAN CHEESE, PARMESAN + EGG $12). For sweet I got something I didn't see online (MINDY SPECiAL!! Went back today and Mindy's still rocks. The s'mores cake is superb. Also enjoyed the hot fudge thumbprint and a loaded chocolate chip cookie. The nitro cold brew was topped with vanilla cold foam upon request and it was delicious. A nice break from my unsweetened coffee drinks. Service was prompt, friendly, and first class all around. Line moved pretty quickly, even with some influencers taking photos in front of me and then leaving the line. ‍ Found parking pretty easily. Even with 15 minutes until closing, there were plenty of options from bagels to sweet treats (and some vegan/gluten-free things). Ambiance is nice, not much seating but great to grab and go.
