Been here a number of times for lunch and I've never been disappointed. I always get takeout during my work week. They do have tables inside if you're inclined to eat in. I'm always taken care of with courtesy and given my order promptly by the ladies that work there. One of my favorite things to get is the boneless fish with fries. The fried fish beats the usual "bland" fish and chips that you get at most other places and has a lot more flavor. The beef patties are another favorite of mine, nice and spicy with a little extra kick to them! I'm blessed to have Yaad Food so close to where I work for lunch. They opened a Yaad Jamaican Restaurant in Chicopee Ma. Been there twice and haven't been disappointed. Ordered the medium dinners and it was enough for two meals. I had jerk chicken one week and jerk pork the following week. Ask for the sauce on the side and an extra container. If you don't finish your meal you'll need the second side. The chicken was moist and tender and the beef was tender and juicy. It came with rice and peas with red beans and has a coconut flavor, yummy, Plantains and either a salad or cabbage. Excellent Jamaican food. We have been twice and have had the jerk chicken and curry shrimp. I will tell you that if you want a special of the day, you must go early because they go fast! But there are other things to choose from that are good. We order a large which comes with rice and peas and plantains that feeds two of us with no problems. I ordered a medium order of curried goat and was amazed at the amount of bones that had to be picked out of my mouth. Luckily I didn't break any teeth or swallow any of the bones. They either need a new butcher or a new source of goat. DON'T ORDER THIS DISH AS IT IS UNSAFE TO EAT. I will give them a try again but it will be something like shrimp that doesn't have bones. I overheard someone at work talking about this place and stopped by to check it out. I ordered a small order of curry chicken with peas and rice and cabbage. I also ordered a Jamaican beef patty in coco bread. The beef patty was spicier than other places and very good. I enjoyed the curry chicken as well. I noticed Festival was available and made to order so I ordered one. It took about 25 minutes to get my order. I suspect it was due to frying the festival but it still seemed like a long time. However the cashier kept coming out to apologize and tell me 'just a few more minutes'. She was very friendly. The place isn't fancy by any means, but it is tidy and clean. I visited on a Thursday afternoon for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. I had the jerk chicken and the beef pattie with cocoa bread and cheese. Jerk chicken is served on the bone with great flavor and a little spice to it. I chose to have sauce on the side and although it was good I am glad it was not on top of meal because it was more like a bbq sauce. Beef pattie was outstanding wrapped in cocoa bread and cheese. I chose spicy and was not too hot at all. Normally I would give a place like this three stars but I think the quality of the food here is a notch higher than others. There are booths inside to eat but is rather small. This place needs a fresh coat of paint and some plants to brighten it up. I will be back here to try oxtail and goats head soup. read more

Had dinner here recently. The place has plenty of parking out front right by the main road. The lady at the cash register was nice, but, she seemed pretty tired, over-worked and kept yawning. Service was a bit slow, and there were no guests dining here when we visited, just a few people taking orders to go at the time of our arrival and throughout including our departure. The rice and peas were not cooked properly, they were under-cooked. The steamed cabbage was over-cooked to death. It was just plain MUSH MUSH MUSH and not edible and had no flavor. Why is management allowing for the steamed cabbage to be so over-cooked??? Definitely need improvement in that area.... Also, the Sweet Plaintains were sweet, not over-cooked, not greasy and very nicely prepared. Problem is that there was only 3 VERY SKINNY STRIPS of them. Why not put an adequate number of Sweet Plaintains??? They do not cost much and they are now is season, the price is lower than the rest of the year and there should be plenty of them served with the meal. No excuses, just give the customers some more please! The Jamaican Beef Patties were okay. They were lacking a bit in the quantity of meat that should have been included in them, but, the flavor was fairly good. But, like most places in the area, this location probably does not have control over the quantity of beef inside of the Jamaican Beef Patties as most Jamaican Restaurants serve Jamaican Beef Patties which are made in New York City or in the New York City area. We had heard from several people that have dined here that the Stewed Chicken here is pretty good. Perhaps we will return to this place, at some time in the future to try the Stewed Chicken and/or something else, but, we will not be running back here any time soon as our experience was not that great and we were looking forward to going here as it was our first time ever eating here. It was fairly clean inside and the music was good, not too loud. A few minor changes here and there and this place could be getting even higher marks than it presently has and could be dominating the Jamaican Food Restaurant Business in the area. This place is SO far off the beaten track en route up north that my husband about had a heart attack. When we finally got there, following the directions on Yelp for miles on two highways and through road construction, we discovered that it's a takeout place rather than a restaurant, so don't go there with sitting in mind. Great food and generous portions every time I'm there. I always get their beef patty with coco bread and cheese, never fails to hit the spot. Their jerk chicken was an 8/10 for me because I think they could have marinaded it a little longer. The deep flavors weren't there but you definitely get the initial kick. The oxtails are 9/10. Judging by its tenderness I'm assuming they cook it for a while which brings out all the spices perfectly. My only complaint is that the pieces they gave me were pretty small, only 2 or 3 decent sized pieces. Staff is always friendly, never had a problem. They did move spaces but are still in the same plaza. The new space has tables to sit at, as opposed to the old space only having the corner counter. read more

The Sailor who doesn't like eating meat on the bone forgot himself for a moment and indulged in this delicacy. The meat is so tender! All foods are spiced expertly. It's not just spicy; it's more complex than that. This place is more of a cafeteria type of restaurant. There's usually open booths; though most people their food to go. I never fault restaurants for ambience as long as they are clean and have good customer service. This place exceeds those two criteria. One thing I love that they do is that they open the to go containers and show you the food before they bag it up.
