If you're looking for a quick bite, I highly recommend this place. I ordered the kafta with rice and it was flavorful and well portioned. My partner ordered a chicken shawarma and that was underwhelming, it was basically a small chicken wrap (looked like a McDonald's wrap). Not a shawarma. I love this place. The entire family does! We stop in at least 3x during the weeks we stay in London. Conveniently located just steps from Paddington Station. It's a quaint, small and extremely clean healthy food option. Its extremely clean. The entire front façade are tall, glass windows. You walk in and you can visually see all the food being made behind these glass counters. Again, everything looks so clean. The lamb and chicken Shawarma were one of our favorites. Spicy potatoes. Spicy hummus. Baba ghanouj with pomegranate. Thin Pita triangles. Ginger, apple, and mint juice. Mango juice. Everything is freshly made right in front of you just steps away. It's quick and healthy. It's a small place, so you do sit close together with all the other people eating. Not a problem. The bathroom is located in the basement down the rear stairs. You can smell the food as you walk past this restaurant. That is what drew us in the very first visit. It is always full of people. Which tells you they're on to some thing. Wow, such a wonderful dinner that warmed us from the inside out on a cold day. We grabbed some take away during their busy time and they happily obliged our order in just a couple minutes. We had a bunch of lamb shawarma wraps, a couple orders of french fries, and some spicy potatoes Those potatoes were sitting on a shelf on display and were calling for me, and I am so glad I asked for them. Perfectly cooked little new potatoes, in a garlicky chili pepper toss and a wonderful oil. The shawarma wraps themselves were great too. Ya Hala is very conveniently located in Paddington. My sister and I were walking around and wanted to find an early dinner because we had flights out the next day. We saw the good reviews and decided to give Ya Hala a try. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. We were given a few minutes to look over the menu and just asked for some tap water which we were happy came with ice. We ordered the lamb kofta and the lamb shawarma plate both with rice. While we were sitting we were close to the prep area where we could watch dishes being prepared. I watched for a little bit as they put plates together. They put one plate together that was supposed to be lamb shawarma (mine) but put chicken on it too. It sat up there for a little bit and when the waitress saw, told them it was wrong. So after a few minutes they took off the chicken, let it sit a little longer and then added some warm lamb on top of the lamb already there. It was about 10 minutes time from the time it was first put up until they brought our meals. By the time it got to me, the lab was really cold dry. It was not enjoyable and had no flavor. The rice was also very dry and flavorless. We drank our water and never got a refill and the waitress never came back to ask how anything was so we couldn't even say that the food was cold. I don't think I would ever return to Ya Hala if I were in the area and it would never be my first pick. It was mediocre at best. read more

With only a half dozen tables, many people seem to carry out; even at 9pm on a Friday night, the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. While service was on the slow side, the food was worth the wait. I went with the special mezze plate: chef's selection of mezze with couscous, salad, and pita. I love it when Yelp brings me to new places and new flavors and new experiences. I can't say that I've ever had "Lebanese" food before so when I was in the Paddington area but not quite ready to take my train back to Reading, I let Yelp do the searching and the suggesting. And now I have a favorite place to get a meal before getting a train! Clean and welcoming, I looked over the menu and went with a hummus starter and the Lamb Shawarma (with cous cous instead of rice). No beer of course, so I had a bottle of sparkling water instead. The food arrived almost immediately. The hummus presented nicely in a bowl with another bowl of cut up pita breads for scooping. A moment later, the lamb. A generous portion with a nice salad and a good pile of cous cous. Delicious and moist, I completely cleaned my plate. I would have picked it up and licked it if I didn't want to be thrown out. Since I was so appreciative, they gave me a free bit of baklava for the ride. (Not the usual triangle - it was rolled. Strange but good!) A fab deal for a decent price. This was one of the best placed we ate at the entire visit in London and some of the best Lebanese food I've had. It's located right near the Paddington station. We were able to get a seat without a wait, but it does get very busy. They seem to also do a pretty big takeout business. The food was so good. The hummus was lamb shawarma was delicious. Very smooth hummus and the lamb was really tender. I've never seen lamb shawarma and it did not disappoint. The mixed grill was great. Each kabob was flavorful and tender. The rice and salad that accompanied it was fresh. I was really impressed with the price points. I felt you got a real value for your money. Service was adequate. The wait staff takes your orders in a timely manner and delivers the food when it's ready. Overall a really great place and definitely worth the trip if you are craving Lebanese food. read more

I dropped off some luggage for the Heathrow Express and went to Ya Hala due to the great reviews online. Turned out if anything the reviews understated how good Ya Hala is, probably the highlight of my trip. Started with the grilled halloumi cheese. It was good, nice and well seasoned (led by salt), sizable portion. As everything looked good, I went with the mezze sampler. Really loved the two kinds of meat (chicken and lamb shwarma), both were tender, marinated and tasty. All the mezze were also good. Loved the hummus, again good flavors. Very nice eggplant and okra dishes. Several other dishes (i think about six in total), all very good. Wasn't crazy about the potato, a little too spicy. Overall, great meal and rather than going just because it is near Paddington, it is now a destination unto itself. read more

Ya Hala is hands down THE Best Place to eat in close proximity to Paddington station. Amazingly tasty Lebanese food served in a clean hygienic environment with friendly service. We keep going back here when craving a bit of comforting Middle Eastern food, when I'm too tired to come home and cook or just in the mood for shawarma. While their food does taste good even when brought home, its best if you can eat it on location as the eish / pita bread is so much softer and tastier when brought hot out of the ovens. The hummus beiruty is a spiced up version of the hummus if you crave an extra tingle in your bite. I love the chicken wings (but be warned, they take a little longer to prepare) and the sauce with the soujuk (sausages) is amazing to mop up with the bread. The shawarmas are my favourite, for kebabs I prefer Indian/Pakistani super spiced versions but they do have a decent selection of well cooked meat. Honestly, Id be happy with just the starters and bread though, all tied up with a pot of their amazing tea which has hints of mint and rose and cinnamon. Very reasonable prices. Friendly service and oh, they also have washrooms downstairs. Definitely look at the cartoons on the walls, they have all been drawn for the location itself. read more

But, in this case, I was craving their food after eating there and insisted on going there the next day before we left. I had the lamb kalto... it is delicious! It comes with several other items. If you find yourself in London near Paddington Train Station AND you like Middle Eastern cuisine, do yourself a favor and drop into this Lebanese place and order the mixed platter where the chef selects the dishes. Also order the fried halloumi cheese, the baba ganoush, and some hummus and pita. Accompany all that fresh goodness with a house drink (they will let you sample if you're not sure) and enjoy. You won't be sorry. Get there early if you want tabouli! Don't let the one surly waiter discourage you. Think 'soup nazi' and you'll be fine ...if you have a sense of humor. He even looks like the soup nazi. I'd put up with a sourpuss any day to eat this good food. I've eaten here four times; once in 2015 and three times this past May. The food quality has always been lively and fresh and delicious. They have another place in Brixton as well. Hands down, this is my favorite restaurant in London. I live in Worthing, and this little place is often on my mind for a good reason to visit London. I love the food and it's close to the Paddington Station. The service is a little on the slow side, and not terribly personal, but the food more than makes up for it. Try the homemade ginger drink if you're feeling adventurous - it won't disappoint! The kafta sandwich is great, the shawarma also awesome. The spicy hummus is fantastic, and the tabbouli is definitely legit. You have to flag your server down to get them to come over to you but that didn't stop us from going twice during our 1 week vacation since we liked the food so much. This place is absolutely amazing. It's small and always busy but it's worth the wait to get seats. We went twice while visiting London. Waited one night for about 10 minutes. Second night we walked in at perfect timing for a table. They also do take away. The hummus is to die for. Not typical American but smoother, richer and more flavorful. The falafel is also perfectly seasoned and crispy. One night I tried the mixed schwarma and both the chicken and the lamb were tender and perfectly seasoned. The Lebanese couscous is impeccable. Their "special tea" is the only thing to get for grown ups and older children will also likely enjoy a small glass. Second night I had the "weekday special" they make lamb or chicken Lebanese style and only serve it on weekdays. Get it if you go M-F. Prices are so reasonable and the service is great. This is a great lebanese restaurant in Paddington. There are so many around that area that it can be a little daunting when choosing one! Working close by means I fancy Middle Eastern food for lunch every now and then, and, having tried a few in the area, I think this is the best one. Everything is freshly cooked/grilled in front of you, they have all the lovely pickles and sauces that you would expect from an authentic Lebanese place and it's not too pricey either. They then put it on a new plate with salad and served it to our table. It was very dry lamb when we cut it and who know how may times it had been re-heated"! This was very disappointing.
