    Minced lamb

We just arrived in London today after a long trip and needed to eat. Patogh was right around the corner in the Mediterranean / Persian part of town. It's a small area by the open rustic kitchen. The chef sat and served us, very friendly and I think the owner was also there, very helpful! Food was so so good. The minced chicken kebobs and the minced lamb kebobs were so juicy and tasty. It came with saffron rice and a little salad. We have the small Persian bread which was so big, I can't imagine how big the big is! All that and two drinks for 28 GBP! Try it! Great start to our week!

Big special bread + mixed starter

Wonderful restaurant by far my favorite persian restaurant and I make sure to visit it every time I'm in London. They bread is made traditionally and is delicious and their boneless chicken kebab is very tasty.

Look at that saffron rice and the kabob was finger licking good.

We were looking for some good place to have kabob and walked by this restaurant and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is small in the inside but food was delicious. We ordered mix grill for 2 and it came with saffron rice, chicken kabob, wing kabob, kobedhi kabob, yoghurt, small salad and delicious flat bread. The kabobs were very delicious and juicy. The bread was cooked fresh and amazing and the saffron rice was buttery and very fragrant. I whole experience including service was top notch. Can't wait to go back.

Very good Middle-Eastern restaurant with good food and prices. Although we were three people, the waiter suggested us to share a mixed plate of entrees and grills as it was enough food (supposed to be for two people) and in fact it was.

I ordered the special lamb with salad, and added a plain small bread to go with it. It's great to have two kebabs prepared with very different types of lamb for the contrast. There is chili sauce and chili powder (neither is very spicy) if you want to give it a bit of a kick. It came with an Iranian version of tzatziki, which went well with anything: the bread, the salad, or the lamb. Despite them calling it a "small" bread, it is huge - much too large for one person, but I can't complain as they're only charging £2 for it.

A bumbling cozy place in a non-descript area, but filled with people?! This is a hidden gem. You'll be sitting right up against your table and bumping into the walls because this place is so small. The kitchen is right in the open so you can smell/see what's cookin'. What to get? Special bread. Take a look at it's size: http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/ez0oHafQP_AiLVvbSpB6qA?select=HoSPoasvs85g_7LX3eEFkw. ENORMOUS. One is enough to feed 2-3 people. It's basically a huge naan, but it has crunchy edges and gets softer as you go towards the middle. They gave us hummus and yogurt sauce on the house so that was awesome. We ordered a plate of lamb and chicken kebabs to go with dish. Unfortunately, we ate them as they arrived on the table so I didn't take pictures. My bad. What's so good about this place is the simplicity of the food. It isn't fancy. It isn't complicated. It's just straight up authentic food the way it should be. Delicious.

    #20 stewed lamb dish

This place is tiny and is cash only and BYOB, so be ready for both. That being said, the food was fantastic. Sizeable portions for very low prices, and good service especially considering how busy it was. My wife and I shared #20 (some stewed lamb dish with saffron rice) and #12 (minced chicken kebab with pita). The chicken was seasoned beautifully and cooked on the grill in the tiny open kitchen. The stewed lamb was beautifully tender and tasty. Definitely worth checking out.

I recommend the houmous and the Special lamb kebobs.

We've been able to come here every time we visit London, and each time we leave more charmed than the previous one. This is a tiny, family-run, artisanal hole in the wall, with a warm, welcoming and expert staff. The food is incredible, simple and inexpensive. Come ready to wait for your very tiny table in the crowded space, and to be blown away by the flavors!! 2017 update: they are still as awesome, and they treat customers so well!! Favorite place in London, this tiny Persian enclave!

    Large bread and dips

Definitely one of my favorites in London and a must eat when I'm in town. The warm bread alone is worth it and the kebabs are perfectly grilled and juicy. The restaurant is small and is also BYOB.

This place is quite authentic. I had the chicken with rice saffron. We also had a mix of starters including hummus and mint yogurt. The food is good and cheap. It was a bit outside my usual place of eating as it is a very rustic place and tight. We ordered a small bread and they gave us a large one without additional cost. The service is is friendly.

As you walk in, you find yourself in awe. The lovely exposed brickwork, with minimal lighting leaves a nice natural warmth to the interior. The smell is also lovely. Charcoal and a little like a high end kebab place. Service is pleasant enough, though the menu is a little thin. I came here because of a craving for Persian food, and came away disappointed. There large bread which you must get with dips, was great, as was the minced chicken dish with rice. But nothing was shout our "Persian". It could easily have passed for Turkish/Mediterranean. The lamb stew dish I ordered was pretty watery and lacked any flavour at all really. Even when lamb is supposed to be one of those stronger meats. In all, the highlight was that the place was cheap, but not cheap enough to warrant a second visit. The minced chicken was good, but there are plenty other charcoal/grilled meat restaurants that do this well. The place is really tiny, so it can be problematic getting a table, but we were here during Ramadan so it was pretty quiet.

The biggest flatbread in the world.

It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

I just do not understand the hype surrounding this restaurant. It's hard to get a reservation and…read morethere's a long queue to get a table without one. I just don't get it. In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.
