So again in London & went back to this place :) The ambiance & interior is really good, it's a great location in Covent garden & my company loved the food. As for me, I thought it was average good but I liked how they presented the food on plate also.

Grilled Vegetables with Persian Rice at Simurgh

I've never had Persian food before, so Simurgh was literally the my first ever experience trying this type of cuisine and I must admit that I really enjoyed it! They have great service here which is always a plus. Coming to the food, the falafels are crunchy which is just the way I like it. We ordered some grilled vegetables with Persian Rice. If I know anything about Persian food (mostly from having a friend from Iran), it's that they take real pride in the rice they make and I could truly see that in the meal. If you're looking to try something different, this is a great place to start. Oh and don't forget to get those refreshing mint teas with your meal. They're great!

The restaurant itself is lovely with fantastic staff. I had Persian tea to warm me up after my walk from the hotel, ordered the cucumber/tomato/herb salad (not going to even attempt to spell it!!!) and the gormeh sabsi stew for dinner (not sure how well I did on that spelling!!). The food was just as lovely as the restaurant except, and maybe this is only done at my usual Persian restaurant, but they didn't give me any herbs/onions/cheese/radishes to nibble on with my food. I may be spoiled in that I grew up surrounded by Persians who taught me the wonderful cuisine from Iran (and the ugly side of it too... yogurt drink blegh!!) and so I'm used to having it a certain way, nonetheless, the stew was good and filled that craving I'd been carrying for a while!

Excellent food and service- DO NOT try any other Persian restaurant I'f You are visiting London. Try the Saltanati or the Chendeh Kabob.

The mix grills for two is the best choice for sharing. It has Kebab beef, Lamb Cofta, Chicken and Shrimps.

Good place for family and friends gathering. Persian Resturant with Excellent atmosphere not so loud, food and service are very good. We ordered the mix grill, which came in time but some of rice dishes were cold. If you are a couple. This is a good place to enjoy some fine affordable meal before continuing your night out. The bred is freshly baked in the Resturant and their Faloda and saffron ice cream are amazing!!

Hands down, the best Persian food you'll find in London! Take it from a someone who will not give 5 stars unless it's truly deserved in realm of Persian food. Yes, is a bit pricey and portions are slightly smaller than expected. But, you're getting the most flavorful, soft, moist, colorful Persian dish in all of London. Definitely worth it. The rice, which is a miss by many restaurants, was appropriately lengthened, soft, buttery and cooked. The meat was made to perfection. Definitely order the Sultani (both Koobideh and Barg) with 3 different rice options if it's your first time as it is the most classic dish to get all tastes in one, and don't forget a refreshing doogh (the house yogurt drink) and sabzi/raw onions on the side. And did I mention how wonderful and authentic the atmosphere is? Truly delightful to hear real Persian music as you dine. Highly, highly recommended!!

    Lamb and chicken - delicious!

Hi and welcome to my first post. I thought I knew what to expect from this restaurant, as soon as my mum said Persian, I thought middle Eastern, which I've had many times- this was something different and special. The staff were really friendly and hospitable and although we had booked a table for 8 on a Saturday night we were late by 30 minutes. Yet they still managed to seat and take orders within 10 minutes of waiting at the door to opening that menu (Was busy). What I really liked was the ambiance of the inside. It's not 'trying too hard', but really tries to project the old Iranian/Persian dynasty. The menu was not over complicated and the food came quickly. 4 dishes- 2x Rice and Lamb (Lamb and herb is worth a try) and two duck dishes. Excellent food, tasty, different, great portions and will be going again! If you're hungry like we were, starters won't satisfy but they were really tasty; felafel/meatballs/bread/Chicken. The place all in all is great but quite small so booking is really advised. This is not like the cafes on Edgware road- hence earlier I said special... I was probably looking for the word 'Unique'. Great experience! Thanks! :) p.s be prepared for belly dancing. Please check out pictures!

Food is good. Restaurant is generous with their buffet. They refill food immediately when buffet trays are low.

Best Persian kabobs! The starter platter with the aubergine, meatballs, etc. had lots of complex flavors and sauces.

My friends absolutely love Berenjak, so of course I had to see why they rave so much about it…read more Definitely make a reservation, because you will not have much luck if you are trying to walk in. Unfortunately, it seems like all the reservations are for counter seating. It was fine though, since we were able to watch them grill all the kababs in their coal-fired grill! Kept it straightforward and ordered the Feast Menu, which is £55 pp. Comes with two types of bread in Taftoon and Sangak, four starters (Mirza Ghasemi, Mast O Khiar, Hummus, and Black Truffle Olivieh), two kababs (we chose the Koobideh Kebab and Jujeh Kebab), and three sides (Shirazi, Torshi Phel Phel, and House Rice). I've never had Persian cuisine on this level as all the dishes were very unique. Even the hummus tasted like hummus I've never had before. I would say that the Jujeh Kebab took me by surprise because I don't expect white meat chicken to be very good, but this was genuinely great! Service was fine, although nothing to rave about. We were handed our bread and starters pretty quickly, but the kebabs took 25 minutes for us to get. I don't know if that was an intentional decision to space out the starters from the kababs. Since we could see that they were cranking out many kababs, maybe that was an intentional decision. I don't know. Ambience is fine. Hard to feel the ambience when we were sitting at the counter rather than an actual table. Overall, I can see why my friends love Berenjak, because everything was absolutely delicious! Worth the visit.

First we had bread and dips and the flavors here were outstanding. It was very hard to stop myself from eating to bursting in this course, just knowing the main was still to come. Every dip was so good, but my favorite might have been the hummus. Unlike any other hummus I've ever tried - much thicker, really highlighting the chickpea with other nutty bits and seeds mixed in. For the main, we each chose one kebab per person, and since we had so many of us, we really had coverage of every single one they had to offer. Instead of serving the one kebab ordered in front of the person, this was served on sharing platters as well, which was perfect! These were huge and we had so much meat that everybody got to try all the kebabs. So juicy, perfectly seasoned and grilled. This course was served with more bread, rice, and bright crunchy salads with enough acid to cut the fatty meat. Plus leftover dips from the first course. Overall a delightful, rowdy, elbow to elbow and heavily laden table meal! Would highlight recommend. Sounds like reservations are hard to come by and recommend booking far in advance!

My, my, my, what a weird little place you are, Shiraz. Sure, I went to see you on a friend date…read more Sure, we were pre-movie early birds. But why you remained awkwardly empty--aside from the owner eating at one of the tables in the back--for the whole hour and change we were there still perplexes me. Especially since the owner/server was oddly charming, the Persian (does Persia still exist in the world of Culinaria?) tea was sweet but pleasing, the Vegetable Bourek was tasty, and the Moussaka was pretty excellent. So why did the dining experience leave me feeling like I just took down cheese-covered lentils in the Orientalist Twilight Zone? Oh, Shiraz--you might not have the aura of a "winner," but I like you anyway. So, Dear Reader, help a poor restaurant out--the next time you and your group want to go out for a lively meal, book Shiraz. The food is reasonably priced, they have cheap house wine, and a browse on localsecrets.com should turn up an offer or two. Whether you have the heart to cash in a 20% off food coupon as the only table in the house is up to you--I sure didn't.

If you're looking for something a bit different in Cambridge, I highly recommend it - makes a change from yet another 'Italian' restaurant!
