I have been going to Y2K Nails on 2831 Del Paso Rd in Natomas, next to Safeway for years. The owner of the salon is knowledgeable, friendly, has great customer service skills and has been running this place for over 20 years. Her whole family works there and all of the ladies are super nice and do great job on your nails. You can just walk in without an appointment and get your nails done. They have a lot of colors and several brands of it and go in hand with new trend. I will keep coming back here, because this place is great!!! read more

I went in and asked for a simple manicure. I was seated with a gentleman who proceeded to look over my nails. He was very rough as he filed. I politely told him it was painful, and he rolled his eyes and sighed. He cut my finger is two places and drew blood when he was trimming my cuticles. I told him I was bleeding and he said, "I didn't do that.!" I started quietly crying from the mistreatment and told him I needed to wash my hands and he yelled, "Go ahead then!" I washed my hands and told a woman who worked there that I needed to leave. She said ok, then only pay $10. I couldn't believe they still wanted money. I paid the $10 and left. I went down the street to a different place where i told them what happened and they finished my manicure for me. Do not go to this place! read more

I recently visited Y2K Nails, and while my nails turned out really pretty, they weren't exactly what I had envisioned. I wasn't asked what powder I wanted, and I noticed right away that the most expensive option was being used. I went with it, hoping the final result would be exactly what I wanted. While the set is still beautiful, it's not quite what I had in mind. The staff here is incredibly nice, which made it hard for me to speak up when things weren't going as planned. For example, my nails were cut into a shape different from what I wanted, but at that point, it would've been difficult to fix, so I just went along with it. For the design, I initially wanted hearts across all my nails but ended up settling for just one because I felt it would take too long. I also didn't want dots around the lips in my design, but they were added and I didn't have the heart to say anything. In the end, I paid $90 ($75 plus a $15 tip), which is more than I've ever spent on my nails. I recall a time when nails didn't cost an entire days wage for someone. I honestly should just not care about price leave tipping out. I'd prefer to pay less and tip higher and that is because I grew up with very old fashioned grandparents While the quality is great and the staff is wonderful, it's a little frustrating to pay that much and not get exactly what I wanted. That said, this experience was a lesson for me--I need to be more vocal about my preferences. Y2K Nails does great work, and I'd still recommend them, but I'd advise making sure you clearly communicate what you want from the start! read more

Four star because I'm not sure if all nail tech follow the same steps as far as getting pedi, like after they cut/trim nails and cuticle, the do a salt rub, some sort of mask (but they don't really let it sit on your skin for a good minute, they just wash it off quick) then massage with stone, then wrap your feet with wax then a warm towel? Even when they warm my feet with wax it was only for a few minutes then they take it away. It's my first time in this location Cathy was great, she massaged and trim my nails really well, no cuts the skin. She was gentle and rough on places that needed it to be. It was a great experience overall. Just not use to the different steps and not all have the same as far as routine compare to what I've been in the past. They took all four of us in for mani and pedis without any appointment needed. I had cat eye gel done on, I didn't realized that all ten fingers have the same direction of the design like for both hands the design looked like \\ which should have been \ /, but that's ok, minor issue. RUDE! My girlfriend and I wanted to get dip done. She got there before me and they insisted she had to do gel but said I could do dip. I got there 5min after at 5:05 pm (they close at 6) and told me I could not do dip as they did not have time for me. There was open staffing, I tried to question it with my only answer being they didn't have time for me and no one knows how to do dip. I sat there with my girlfriend while they did her gel, watched them cut her nails shorter than she wanted and do them with two coats to where you can see her nail through the color. The 40 min we were there they allowed three walk in pedicues. Staff was ruse, didn't want to answer any questions or talk to us. Was willing to try a new place, my girlfriend whos been going there for over 20 years will never be back after how we were talked to. I stopped in for a fill while visiting my family. The salon was clean and the staff was friendly. I don't know that I have ever gotten my nails done in less than an hour but this salon did it even though there was no time constraints and I was the only customer. My nail tech did not remove all of my old color (I was going from red to a shimmer white) and the polish is a little patchy. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I only wanted a color change and they were trying to charge me $65 so I told them give me a second. I called my normal nail salon and ofcourse it was cheaper but they didn't have availability right away so I told the lady I would just get them done. She said "yeah no we won't do them here, you called somewhere else you go there, we don't want to do them." I said are you serious? She said yeah we won't do them so I pulled out my camera because I was in disbelief of how I was treated and she said you can't record me I said yes I can. I went there to get my nails done earlier today around 10:00 am. ( been a returning customer for a while ) The man that did my nails was quite rude. (seated at the last table in the back) I brought in my own color ( my name was boldly written on package that the polish was in ) after finishing my nails, he went to put the polish on the shelf. When I told him that it was mine he questioned me...asked where I bought my polish from. I came in to remove my nails for work purposes and was quickly schooled on why they never have any customers. Despite their prices of nail removal being ridiculous compared to other vendors, my sister and I still came in. The gentleman who was removing my nails stabbed me multiple times, and even made abrasions to my nail bed. I told him many times that it hurt and he still kept at it. His way of fixing it, glue and more spray glue. I told the lady who was taking my sisters nails off that I refused to pay the full amount. She was arguing with me because her excuse is that I came in with powder so they had to do it like that. I did have powder nails, and at times it's difficult to take off (I understand), but in all my years of having my fake nails removed I have never been stabbed and injured as part of the process. I get that all nail salons do their procedures different, but wouldn't it make more sense to soften up the nail? Or at least use caution or stop when a guest is saying it hurts? The nail tech who did my sisters nails did hers with no cuts or abrasions, and I don't mind paying $20 for someone who did things right; but, I refuse to pay $20 for someone leaving my hand unfinished. It looked like I literally did it myself. Instead of lowering the price for my nails she offered to fix it for me, which I declined because the gentleman who did my nails put it in such bad shape. He kept filing and picking away at it and it felt raw. It was down to a thin layer! Why would I let her continue to file down my nails that were just glue painted over. Haha. After voicing my concerns with the lady who seemed to be running things, she told me not to "come here then". Please do yourself a favor and don't step in there even if you're desperate. I couldn't get to my nail place (Serene) in Elk Grove so I chose to get in somewhere close for convenience. I walked in and was met by Mai which is who I remember going to for a nail service before. I asked her if she had time for a pedicure she said yes and walked me back to about the 7th chair (this part is important) anyway, once I sat down she turned the water on then, spoke Vietnamese to her co-worker then says to me someone else can do your pedicure because I have someone coming in that is running late ..okay? So of course she couldn't do the service to begin with so she was misleading from the gate. Then, as the other nail tech starts I realized the massage chair was to close so I asked her how to move it back. Here is where the " shit show" starts..SO instead of showing me how to do it on my chair panel she tries to push a button down by her feet that does absolutely nothing and says it's basically as far back as it can go.? It was not able to move forward or back and that's because it was Broken ! So of course that becomes a full blown attempt of gaslighting me . How dare me to want to be comfortable for a pedicure!? so they continue to speak in there language as if I did something wrong by asking?? Uh oh! Then about 10 minutes in... she can't find her nail pusher for cuticles so she starts speaking to her self quietly in her language pulling and pushing her container drawer ...wait for it ...suddenly a male nail tech stands up from a nail station picks up a cuticle pusher from a random drawer at that station and hands it to her then she gets ready to start using it ? I asked her if that was clean? What could she say?? Because clearly it didn't come from a reciprocal filled with barbicide () she says yes it's clean Then here comes this older male stands right in front of us and says to me next time you go some place else while one foot in and one foot out of the water. I said "ok" so again they begin speaking out loud to each other in their language at that point ..my nail lady pulls my other foot out then tells me that whom ever he was probably her husband told her to be careful wait what?!! They were not friendly, very rough in their process, paid for The hot rocks and they may have rubbed them on my legs a minute, left the rough calluses on my feet, horrible file job, wax was way to hot and burnt my feet, as well as their towels being too hot. This is my second time coming to this salon. The first time was okay and I have to say whoever does your nails makes all the difference. My gels started chipping after a week because at the cuticle there were raised, rough edges instead of it being smooth. At week three almost everything had chipped off save for one nail which was done correct, that one still looked really good. If they did all my nails like that one, I wouldn't be writing this. Fast forward to today and my pedicure. Like I said, the person doing your nails makes a difference. They scrubbed my feet so hard they started to bleed in a couple spots. Also, they pointed at my foot and commented to the person next to her and they laughed. Very awkward. At least they removed what was left of my gels for free. read more
