Went to XVII sur Vin last night for the first time. The ambience was very bistro-esque - sitting outside on a cool summer evening. Some English being spoken around us, but mostly, it seemed, neighborhood people. The food was outstanding. I shared the veal chop for 2 with our friend, and we both thought it was the best we had ever had. Tender, juicy and served with very flavorful gravy. The side was macaroni with lardons - and that, too, was as good a pasta dish as I have had anywhere. My partner had the lamb chops, which was the menu choice for the day, and she loved them! For a starter, the Oeuf coquette was perfect. My partner had a "salade gourmand" which she also enjoyed - 3 small salads of different types. Our waiter was charming and attentive and established a great rapport over the course of the evening. We had a nice bottle of wine (Crozes-Hermitage) and a couple of degustifs and the bill was very reasonable, especially considering quality of the food and the lovely feel to the evening. I wish I had come here years ago. read more
