James and Jay of Xpress Moving & Logistics did a great job moving our furniture and things from an upstairs apartment to a country house. They were careful, fast, and efficient. I couldn't ask for more. Normally, I would have given them a 5 but didn't because Xpress Moving required cash when complete even though they said I could use Zelle which I tried. The Zelle payment was delayed because it sent the 2FA code to my home phone, miles away. This caused a hold on the transaction for hours while I tried to resolve this via phone, meanwhile I was being charged by Xpress Moving at full rate. Finally, I drove to the bank, withdrew cash, and paid Xpress Moving a much higher bill because of the delay. Although I tried to cancel the original Zelle payment after paying Xpress cash, it went through later in the day to Xpress Moving and as of four days later I have only received a partial refund from Xpress for this over payment. read more

The absolute worst experience! Please avoid this company at all cost. I had an out of state move and hired X-press movers via Movers.com. The day of the move came, 3 movers came one of which did a walk through. He tells me there's no TV on his list, so he would need the charge me for a TV box. I say ok fine. We then sit and I sign off on the paperwork and I give him my credit card to pay the remaining balance. He then tells me that tolls are not covered in the quote and that tolls needed to be paid in cash. Wish I would've known this prior to, but again not a big deal I go to bank and get the toll money. I returned from the bank and the movers are finished and would like for me to do a walk through. I walk through and see several items that still needed to go. The lead mover gives me an attitude and states that I should be charged extra because my cooler(the size of a box) was not on his list! Fast forward I fly out to my new place a week later only to find a box missing. I immediately contact the sales representative Fred. Fred responded that yes they in fact had the box. Great I'm thinking to myself. However, I'm also thinking in my head... well were you going to tell me you failed to deliver the box??? Why did it take for me to reach out to you, about something to forgot to deliver!!! Fred goes on to tell me that they have a job coming my way in 2weeks and that my box, that was careless left on the truck, would be delivered then. I agree to these terms and patiently wait. 2weeks pass and I haven't heard a peep from anyone. No communication whatsoever. I reach out to Fred to follow up. He tells me that the job coming my way had been cancelled and they are "trying to figure something out". I say well why not just mail it. Fred says well worst case scenario that's what we'll do. Umm excuse me... you screwed up and now you're being cheap about shipping a box. Wow!!! I asked Fred when will he have an answer, he tells me to call back that Friday. Friday rolls around, now Fred is nowhere to be found, not in the office, and doesn't respond to any of my emails. I wait another week, Fred answers the line and tells me that he "thinks" the dispatcher mailed the box, but he'll call me back at the end of the week once he knows for sure. At this point it's now 1 month after my move date and I'm still with out my box or a straight answer as to when it will arrive. I got to a point where I called almost everyday and the office staff would tell me they couldn't help I would need to speak to Fred. On October 3rd I call and a woman I'm not even sure was speaking English hung up on me. I call back, a man answers and tells me again Fred nor the dispatcher are in. I ask to escalate my call to the owner, I was refused! Told the owner was not in. I said leaving a message is not an option, if the dispatcher is out, please place me on hold and contact him via cell phone. The male says "no he's out in the field, he's not going to answer this type of call". Wow, seriously where is the costumer service. I'm having to harass and chase this company for something that belongs to me!!!! Unbelievable Thankfully I still had one of the mover's phone number in my call log. I call him and he tells me to call the office, because he doesn't know what I'm talking about. I explain that I plan to call him everyday until I can get a straight answer he simply responds "ok that's fine". 2 minutes later the lead mover calls me back stating that he spoke to the dispatcher and he'll mail my box out soon. I reply that soon is very vague, and that's what I was told 2weeks ago. The mover responded "well I don't know what else to tell you" and hung up. Again this company could careless about its customers. Smh. A few minutes later the dispatcher calls me and identified himself as Tamas. He's very hostile and yelling at me telling me that he's not a liar and doesn't need my box of pictures or my business. He then goes on to tell me he works 16hr days and hasn't had the time to ship my box. I explain to Tamas to 1. Lower his voice and 2. I could careless about your work schedule!!! This was your mistake. Sending me my belongings should have been a priority not an afterthought!! I suggested to him if he's so overwhelmed why not have one of your office staff mail my box??? Tamas replies "that's not their job, And that by law he has up to 90 days to send me my belongings ". Again I'm still trying to wrap my brain around such horrible customer service!!!! And it's not as if the move was free, I paid in full for their services. He then tells me he will mail my box the following day. They following day I receive a call from a random number. I answer and a male on the other line says he works for the company and has a delivery in the area and will be at my home at 1:30pm. Total scam! Do not use these movers. My parents contracted them for a move from New York to Florida. The truck disappeared for two weeks. No one would answer calls, and if you look up the info on this company they have a phone number based in Nevada. A total scam. My parents called for weeks no answer. When the truck finally showed up two weeks later After we threatened legal action they once again wanted more money to unload the truck. This moving company defrauds customers. Everything great on the consult call - what a surprise. Expect zero communication once your stuff is loaded and be warned that you are at the mercy of fake events effecting drivers and schedules concocted by a fake dispatcher which will inevitably lead to your delivery being WAY later then promised. I was surprised to read about the individuals who did not have good experience with Xpress. In May, I had put in a quote and Josh from Xpress called me back within minutes. Their prices were competitive and I loved his customer service that even after received quite a few other quotes, I decided to go with Xpress! Mike & his team arrived a little earlier before agreed time and quickly got to work. The three gentlemen were fast, focused helpful and took good care in packing the big items and moving my things. There was a change of end location and the staff were accomodating. They made it seemless!! I liked them so much I am using them now for the second time at the end of July. If I could choose no stars I would. Terrible! Gave me my price. Even suggested I take things I wasn't going to. Said they were sending 5 movers but sent 8. Packed things things that weren't going, including actual garbage! and when the truck was almost full they said I'd have to decide what to leave which was the stuff on the list! They said if I payed more they would take more. 1,500 later and still had to leave things including washer and dryer! Rented a storage unit till I can come back. After paying the extra money, the guy was furious that I wasn't going to tip 8 guy's 150 bucks each!! I hired this company to move me from NY to California. Spoke with Anthony as i can see many others have and have nothing nice to say about him or my move. He gave me a price of 1900$. The movers came to pick up my stuff they barely spoke English so the language barrier was awful. They ended up changing my moving price to 2800$ i had no choice but use them because i Had to return my keys the next day. This was a total scam clearly this is how they get people they know they have to move so they get stuck with no choice but to settle for that price. I always felt very taken advantage of by my the main man who was handling everything i feel like because i was a female he got over on me. A week later passes i arrive to California i get a call about my things arriving. It was during the protests and riots. Me and my boyfriend had to guide the driver how to get to my block finally they get to my building. As soon as i am speaking to the driver i realize he smells of alcohol heavily. Clearly they've been drinking and driving. They start to unload my things to bring them upstairs. As they're unloading my dresser they drop it on the ground off the truck. I was furious and was eager to see the damage. What happened next wasn't what i expected. Besides the fact that i already knew my dresser was already ruined i started to unwrap my things as they were bringing them up. Mind you i also helped them bring most of the things up because they were super slow. Anyways i start to un pack the furniture and begin to notice all the damage caused to all my belongings. My dresser was obviously ruined scuffs, scratches, dents and hole all over. My white bar table completely ruined. My coffee table has a feel gashes in it. My garbage can for my kitchen was complexity dented in. And on top of everything the scratched my walls bringing in the furniture. I addressed all the damage and the blamed it on the people who put my things on the truck in NY since they were just the transporters. The next day i call Anthony to address all the damages. He basically told me it wasn't his problem and that he'd put me in contact with the claims department they would help refund me for the damage. Long story short i been in contact with Robert from claims who made me do all this paper work. It took him 3 weeks to get back to me with an offer. He offered me $192 for over $2000 worth of damage. I took this as an insult. Now he is ignoring me. I also had my attorney contact him and he's also been ignoring her and she sees that he's read her messages to him, This company is a total scam and i plan to sue them to get my money bask for the damage. I have been a mover myself and found the pick up team to be very professional and excellent. However all of that is undone by empty promises from the office as well as the horrific drop off team. From reading the reviews this company doesn't not seem to care about bad Yelp reviews or their better business bureau 'F rating'. So whilst they won't care about this 1 star review let me give you the headlines on what to expect so you do not get duped: * They are professional on the front end and then items get passed off to cowboys on the drop off who don't know what they are doing. * They say they own all their own trucks - I cant imagine this is true as they must have contracted out to the people who dropped off for us and had no idea of the people in the office. * Promised our boxes would be palletized. This wasn't the case, they were upside down and thrown around. * Movers had zero respect for our belongings - if this is how they moved items when we were looking I cant imagine what was going on when we weren't there. * Poorly packed truck. Everything was loose. * Bad time management and communication. Told us our stiff would take 3 more days so we moved our flights. Then they rang 2 hours later and said they were arriving next day. That cost us $200 to move the flights back. * Broken dresser and picture frames. * 5 weeks and still awaiting a settlement offer from what they broke - I get told it'll be soon and then silence. First of all, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Xpress for making a cross country move so stress free (NYC to Texas). I'll admit the reviews here gave me pause, but if you go through the filtered posts, you'll find a lot more 4-5 star reviews. Algorithms, am I right? Anyways. Let me break down the process so I can help explain the long process. The biggest tip I can give you is that you need to be realistic with how much stuff you own and want to move. The move is by the cubic foot, so your IKEA shelves might cost more to move than they would be to replace. The planning stage: I received a quote from Fred at Xpress back during the planning phase. I didn't find them, they kind of found me as I entered my info into a "moving quote" database which prompted 5-7 companies to contact me with a quote. Fred not only gave me the most competitive price, but he is the only person who followed up with me and actually took the time to call and ask for a description of the items. After discussing with my fiancé, we decided to take the plunge and give a deposit ($50, credited towards your final total). Scheduling: This was the most hassle free part of the process. I even had to move my date back a month and Fred had no issues rescheduling me for the day needed. Insurance: I always over plan, so I did buy extra moving insurance (around $115), but just to ease my mind. However, Xpress actually insures your stuff by the pound, and that is included in your total. I packed my own stuff into boxes, so I can't comment on that service they offer, however I do want to note that they can't insure the items in the box as they don't know how well you personally pack them. Pick up: The Forman, Steven, and his crew showed up on time. Steven was very friendly from the start and helped explain the entire process from start to finish. Of course, I under estimated my belongings, so to stay around my budget, I did have to triage some items (example: my two IKEA shelves and my very old dresser did not make the move as they didn't seem worth it). He explained each piece of paperwork I needed to sign and answered all of my questions. Arrival: My stuff arrived 6 days after pick up (they picked up my stuff on March 27th and it arrived in Texas on April 2! I was so happy.) They technically/legally have 21 days (as they explained during the process), but of course I loved how quick my stuff came. The delivery team kept me informed of their approx arrival the day before and a team of 2 showed up in an 18 wheeler (expertly maneuvered, too!) and unpacked all my stuff. You'll want to make sure you have room for an 18 wheeler to deliver your stuff (this isn't the truck that picked our stuff up). This will save you some extra money. They can always put it in a smaller van for a little more, though. All my stuff looks to be in great condition! They wrapped all my stuff in moving blankets and just really did an all around great job. Pro tip: Tip in cash. I would highly recommend them to anyone moving interstate. read more

I was assured for the extreme amount of money I paid for the few items that were moved, this would be done! Upon arriving, and paying full in cash, everything was broken!! I hired this company to relocated my furniture from NY to SC, spoke to Winston of course he was extremely nice, I told him about all my items, explained I don't like surprises at the last minute to please make sure to have the right cubits feet, he said sure no problem, gave me an estimate for $2800. I scheduled pick up the following day, I never got an email confirmation and I know that was my mistake, three guys came, they wrapped everything nicely BUT at the end my $2800 estimated became $4500 AND THEY WANTED TO IMPOSED A 20% TIP, I got on the phone with Winston and this time he wasn't the pleasant person I spoked to the day before, the driver was so rude that even told me he wasn't going to pay for my move, to make things short it took them all day to packed, my kids, dogs and grow ups were tired, I ended up paying $4500 and they can kiss my ass for their tip, they shipped my items on a later day not the promised one, I got my furniture 15 days later, they broke my Raymond & Flanigan living room leather sofa, two bins lost with my kitchen pots and pans, the guys that deliver to SC were extremely nice and respectful and I like to be fair so YES I DID TIP THEM, You give me war, I'll give you hell xpress. I wish I could say this will be written well- but close to two months later, I'm STILL totally friggin pissed. I would give them a negative star if I could. A company's true merit is shown when there is an issue not when everything is cheers and giggles. I moved from Brooklyn to Austin. The initial experience was amazing. They quote was great. Fred always responded to my emails quickly. The initial moves were amazing in their thorough nature. I had even referred them to new people. I stored my possessions for 30 days in their storage facility while I was figuring out my move to Texas. I made sure they were very aware that my schedule was a bit amiss due to my grandmother being in the hospital. I was still flexible despite their estimated arrival being delayed by days with no follow up. I get a call at 8am on Sunday stating they are 30 minutes from my home and to meet them. .. things were getting mucky. I made it clear that I was on the way to the hospital to be with my grandmother but none the less I turned around and headed to me place. I was asked to pay before they loaded my things out.. I guess that's normal so no biggie. Although it seemed weird to pay before I even knew if my belongings were safe and in the truck but.. I offered to tip after load out. They did not seem pleased. The load out was quick. The driver folder over the blue form (which list everything off the truck) and had me sign. There were 73 items listed and I counted about as many (I hadn't noticed that they placed two of the items on one line. I did not have time to inspect since as previously mentioned, I needed to get to the hospital.. a thing they knew.. He folded the paper in half so i couldn't read anything else and asked me to sign...um.. I tipped (because I'm obviously brain dead) and then noticed that one of my tables was VERY broken. They knew it when they unwrapped the table and said nothing. I sent an email to Fred who responded immediately. The "insurance" guy would get in touch with me within one week.. That didn't happen. Several follow ups later "Roger" from claims called me back. (My move was Feb 18th... I was finally contacted MARCH 31st!) gross. In unpacking, I noticed my antique guitar was NO WHERE to be found. I followed up. Mike promised it was loaded to the truck and they would track their steps and follow up that night. No follow up. I called three days later (I know schedules can get complicated) . Several follow ups later "Roger" from claims called me back about my table. (My move was Feb 18th... I was finally contacted MARCH 31st!) gross. I let him know no one had followed up about the guitar. He promised he wold contact someone the next day... crickets...I called again and Mike was told he definitely called everyone and no one had my guitar...shock..Per Mike.. The movers never saw it and none of the other drop offs had it... then that it was my fault for not checking. Thanks Mike. I emailed Fred again to ask what I should do about the guitar.. again, he refers me back to invisible Roger. R . Soo.. in short... no follow up.. no word from roger.. . about to turn this over to BBB. Very disappointed.. but in the end I guess you get what you pay for. So in the end- if you use them, pay attention. Meticulously count your packages- double check the list twice and document document document like crazy. Don't trust the awesome experience that the Brooklyn movers can give you because they are not the same guys who will move your belongings across country. I used Xpress Moving to cart my belongings from Brooklyn to Oregon. I think they wound up using a different company for the actual longhaul, but I dealt with Rony and Xpress moving for the pick up. I was in a bit of a rush for my move, and Rony was able to work with me in getting my move scheduled in my timeframe. The day of the move was pouring rain (of course), and the movers were good with helping wrap up my belongings, label everything, and explain what they were doing. There were no complaints, and I did not feel like I was being talked down to despite this being my first time using movers. Once the belongings were out of my apartment, it took a few days longer to have my items delivered than previously promised. This was apparently due to a hold up at one of the earlier delivery locations. Since my items had traveled 3000 miles, I wasn't too surprised there was a hangup somewhere. Communication was not as great as it could have been once things were out of my apartment, but I received all my belongings safe and sound. The only casualty was one broken glass, which probably was my own fault. Considering the distance, things went pretty smoothly. I have no intention of making such a large move any time soon, but I'd recommend Xpress moving to a friend. read more

BEWARE LONG DISTANCE MOVES!!! Much different that an in town for sure... Going from Manhattan to NC... The sales guy was nice, the loaders were awesome, and even the guys who unloaded were awesome....when they showed up. When they say they legally have 21 days to deliver your things they are telling you this because no matter how long they say it will take, you should bank on the full time period. We were first told 3 days, then no one called and no one showed up. When I was finally able to get a hold of the logistics guy he told me 3 more days, my stuff is definitely on the next truck, BS.. 3 days went by and nothing again. Then the logistics guy was out sick and the backup guy was training so he had no clue where are stuff was, almost lost it there. This went on for several days with no call backs. After several more of these, "the logistics guy is out in the field" calls and days gone by with no returned phone calls we got out stuff 2.5 weeks later. As other posts say the delivery guys immediately said "I don't know I think this walk from the truck to your door is long and we need to charge you another $75." I said NO, if you want more money show me that all my stuff is on the truck and I'll give you a good tip. He said OK...so I gave him a good tip, mainly because I was so relieved to have my belongings. So in short the loaders are great, nothing was broken but for a long distance move, just pay the big companies more to have a same day delivery, will be worth every penny for your sanity. read more

When I came upon Xpress Moving Vanlines, I was excited. I booked a move with ease with the salesman Rony. When the day of my move actually came, I have to say, I've never been so mistreated. I was given a 1-2pm window for my movers to arrive. 1:58, and not so much as a whisper. After 2pm, I called to find out where my team was. I was told they were a half hour away. Okay, the earlier move ran late. Half hour came and went, and I called again. This time, 15 minutes. Again, no word. This proceeded until 4pm, regardless of the fact that I had warned that I was going to be subject to fines from my building for a late move. When the movers finally showed, they walked in the door defensive and belligerent. They complained that the people before had extra stuff, and tried to prove it with their sweaty shirts. This still didn't explain why I never got a phone call to give me a heads up. My husband and I both missed a day of work. Then, the movers really started to be difficult. They obviously were treating me in a sexist manner, ignoring me and talking directly to my husband. They said that our stuff wouldn't fit on their truck because they had another person's load of stuff. And that they didn't expect any boxes, because they weren't on the list. I had talked to Rony about boxes. I also told someone at the company when I phoned to let you know I was having difficulty with my movers that I had boxes and he said "of course you do." Why would you plan to move someone from a 2 bedroom apartment in NYC and not anticipate that they have any boxes? Do people only move furniture? I wasn't paying on volume, I was paying an hourly rate, this shouldn't have been an issue. But because their truck was half full of the previous move (which was long distance to Florida), the foreman (Mike) of the crew rudely decided to just cancel my move. He said he didn't have to give me any better justification than that. The company representatives were no help either. They claimed that they contacted their sister company, and asked if there was someone who could move us. But no. There was "nothing else they could do." How was I supposed to feel. I was left completely helpless at 5pm with no movers, and this was the only day I could do this move. Xpress' response was to give me my $50 deposit back, and leave. I just used this company to move this weekend from UWS to Harlem. I went with them because their quote was the cheapest which made me nervous. They quoted me $550 for a four hour job. It took them six hours totally so I paid $770 which is still cheaper than the rest. (Note: I also had an extra stop) There were some extra fees than they didn't mention in the quote like a 5% processing fee on a credit card and a toll fee. Please note the toll fee must be paid with cash which I didn't know about. Anyway, the 3 men did a wonderful job moving my stuff. They wrapped up everything in blankets to protect it. I had already wrapped up everything in plastic but they added the blankets. They did an amazing job getting everything to fit through my tiny stairwell. I am giving them 4 starts because of the two fees I wasn't told about. I know it seems minor but I would have paid by cash if I'd know and the toll fee had to come out of their tip. So I felt bad. Also, they did leave a mess of tape in both apartments. I feel they could have cleaned up after themselves. Overall, I was happy and I would use this service again!!! read more

Xpress Moving Vanlines are completely unprofessional minus the actual movers. I just relocated to Chicago two weeks ago Sep 1, 2015. The movers had come a week before I was to move and loaded all my belongings. They did a great job but, said after they loaded all of my possessions, that they misquoted me and doubled my moving charge with all these other hidden fees. i.e. Gas, Tolls. I did not have a chance to say no because they strong armed me into paying since they had already loaded all my stuff. It get's better When I first called them they guaranteed me, my belongings would arrive on Sept 1st (my move in date). I arrive in Chicago on Aug 31st expecting them to be there in the morning Sept 1st. They never showed up or called. The next day I called them, and they said "oh it will be arriving next week". Ok one week late these type of problems happen. One week later, I hear nothing from them, so I called them a second time. They gave me some excuse and that the truck would arrive in two days. Two days later nothing; no truck arrived nor was there a phone call. I call back, and now they say 4-5 days for some reason. It has been two weeks. Going on the third week and the truck still has not arrived! I called today, and they said they know nothing that the movers were out and that they would call me back. Nobody called back. As of now I have no clue where my things are or when they will show up. I am living an empty loft with nothing. This company is the worst moving company I have ever used, and I am kicking myself for using them now. BEWARE do not use Xpress Moving Vanlines for long distance moves. It's taken me over a year to write this review, because I was so angry for so long. First of all, believe the bad reviews. This is not a reputable company, especially for a long-distance move. They do not respect their customers, and their employees do not follow "company" policy. They lowball their estimates to get your business initially, but then add on a number of ridiculous charges until you are paying twice as much. Our experience: we moved cross-country from Brooklyn to Chicago in November 2014. My husband and mother-in-law were going to drive a few things the whole way, while my daughter, father-in-law, and I flew out to Chicago. We were going to close on our new home in 6 weeks, so our costs included the cross-country move and storage. The movers were supposed to come at noon on a Saturday. I'd warned my husband to book as early as possible, since I know movers tend to book as many moves as they can, and I was right - the movers didn't show up until after 4PM, and they had already been awake for 12 hours, having traveled long-distance to get to Brooklyn and then moving someone else before us. Second, they were supposed to have three people, and they only had two. One of them barely did anything, leaving the other to carry things to the truck. It took them nearly TWELVE HOURS to move our belongings into the truck (2 bedroom 800 sq ft apartment). They were not careful... they wrapped almost nothing. The original plan was for my husband and his mom to get on the road as soon as the apartment was packed up. This meant they started out from Brooklyn at around 4AM. At this point, the movers hadn't slept in 24 hours... not to mention my husband and MIL! Fast forward to move-in day. Of course they show up late, but not as late. Looking outside into the truck, I am horrified: our stuff is shoved into a truck that is packed from floor to ceiling in what looks like absolute crap! Again they don't have enough movers and it takes forever to get everything inside. In the process, items were broken or scratched, walls were scuffed and dented, brand-new floors were scratched, etc. They had no regard for the new house or our things. There wasn't a single piece of rectangular furniture that had all its corners intact. I spent the rest of the day trying to wash scuffs and scrapes off the walls and floors. Later on, we realized that a number of items were missing. The company claimed that nothing was left on the truck. This company doesn't respect its customers or its workers (recall the 24-hour workday mentioned above). This company doesn't respect your belongings. NYC to Nashville, TN Overall they were successful: punctual, quick, and efficient. They also dropped off within a week. However: additional costs should be considered when booking which can become significant depending on your situation. When delivering: 100$ if the 18wheeler is 100ft from your front door More than 1 flight of stairs (8 stairs) is added 70$ for each flight Can be over $500 if they can't park an 18wheeler next to your apartment Can be over $500 if they come too late or you're not ready and they have to stay over in your city. - this last can be tricky - they gave less than 10hrs notice and came around 10pm so be ready When picking up: Expect a surcharge on your items. I was exhaustingly specific with my items and dimensions to the extent of calculating and providing the square footage. They'll charge for the space between items and gradually just make it go up. Mine increased almost 300$ during this. In conclusion: Every man that came and carried on both ends was professional while friendly and worked very hard. All furniture came intact and nothing was missing. I would just budget for a potential 500-700$ increase from the initial estimate because the above fees aren't mentioned until pick-up. I can not believe that this company is still in business!!!! In my urgent rush to move into my new place I found these guys during a Google search and booked them. They originally quoted me a very good price but about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to show up Mike (manager) called and said they were booked and had to reschedule. I explained to Mike that I had scheduled elevators and other things needed to move out of my current place he said for and extra charge of $250 they could keep the appointment; With no other options I agreed. The crew showed up an hour late and had me moved out pretty quickly. However upon dropping off all my furniture at my new place I notice a few things 1. My new 55 inch TV was smashed 2. My grandmother's dresser that she. Left me when she passed looked like it had been in a knife fight. 3. Dishes were broken 4. iPod went missing I was in shock while unpacking and called the company to see what happened. The company told me that these items were broken when they picked them up. BEWARE! There is a reason this company had an 'F' rating with the Better Business Bureau! We hired Xpress Moving to pack our moving van and we paid extra to have them also load our baby grand piano. While the workers worked hard, we experienced significant problems with this company. I will outline the top 3: 1) NOT PACKED WELL: While they were able to load a LOT of boxes (far more than we thought would fit) into the truck, when we arrived at our new destination/home the boxes had completely avalanched towards the back of the truck, apparently due to the manner in which they were loaded (all the way to the top). We had so much damage, broken glass and scratched and dented furniture, etc...it was heartbreaking. Due to the way the contract is written, there was nothing we could claim. An even bigger problem is that it was next to impossible to unload without having more of the avalanche begin. 2) NOT TRAINED IN MOVING PIANOS: When we hired them to load my late mother's baby grand piano, we presumed they were trained to move pianos; especially since they charged a significant additional charge to do so. This, however, was clearly not the case. The piano had been stored in a climate controlled storage by professional piano movers previous to this move. The piano was stored on pads made from stacked magazines that were taped together. The movers pointed out that some of the magazine residue had stuck to the piano. We acknowledged it and agreed they didn't cause it (was easily removed with orange oil). They continued to work all day and eventually moved the piano from their truck onto the moving van. What we discovered after they left is that they had removed the pads and did not replace them under the piano; instead they taped them to the top of the piano. They laid the piano on its side without the pads which caused the top to the piano (which has an overhang) to be forced flush. I freaked out when I discovered this and immediately called the movers and told them they needed to come back immediately and correct this. After much hesitation they said they could only come back the next day as they had another job near us. They told us there was no need to contact anyone else. We were pretty powerless over this situation. Sadly they never called us back, nor did they show up the next day as promised. The hired driver was picking up our truck for transport and there was nothing we could do. Moving is so hectic and stressful, especially when you are moving out of state. This gross negligence of these movers (a piano 101 no-brainer) caused the hinges and screws to stretch and forced them into the finish causing damage to our precious heirloom. 3) INSURANCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE: Upon arrival to our new home we immediately contacted a professional piano mover to move it from the moving van to the inside of our home and set it up, as well as assess the damage. They issued us a condition report. We then contacted Xpress Moving again to update them. We reached John the manager (who wouldn't provide his last name) to tell him what had transpired. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. He quickly told us we didn't purchase the added insurance and we would only be covered by the basic coverage which was based solely on the weight. I was surprised and felt if it was gross negligence on their part and that they should be responsible; nonetheless, it is a piano so the weight based coverage would at least provide some monetary cushion for the damage. I told him I would contact him with an update after the professionals set up the piano. The company we hired to set up the piano told us we were very fortunate and it could have been much worse. The estimate to repair the damage was only about $350. We thought John would be relieved and happy (...we were). Instead he was belligerent, unprofessional and downright mean. When we pointed out that we could simply go by the basic coverage based on weight and it would cover the damage, he became furious. He said we could send in the claim and he would simply deny it. I asked what recourse we had other than him. I assumed we would work with an insurance company. When I tried to get the insurance info he just said it's through him and he makes the decision. I suspect they self-insure. He was so angry, raised his voice and hung up on my husband several times. We couldn't have a reasonable conversation so I researched and located the owner named Renee Salazar. I was unable to get any further with her. While initially she said she would look into it, in the end she said we needed to work through John. Because we are no longer in California, it would cost more to fly back to file a small claims case than to just pay for the damage ourselves. I am certain we would prevail, but, sometimes it's not worth all of the negativity. There were many other classless issues that we dealt with, but, I would have to write a book. Worst moving experience I've ever had. I created a Yelp account just to write this (not a "yelper"). This company - Winston was the employee - gave me a quote for moving with 3 movers and all of my belongings. They called me THE DAY BEFORE MY MOVE to tell me they couldn't move me. They then referred me to a "trusted" mover they know. They promised to honor my quote, and charged me an additional $300! Only gave me 2 movers! And I actually threw out my couch I was going to move. They showed up over an hour late and then when I disagreed to their pricing they left everything I own on their truck and made me sign! They were supposed to be here at 4pm. I spoke with them 3x today confirming details etc. I have just been informed that I'm "not in the system" and they aren't coming. It's the craziest thing I've ever experienced. I am also fairly sure Mike threatened me when I previously suggested that I planned to write a bad review. Whatever the reasons, find someone else to work with. You know what? I am going to take the time out of my morning to write this review, because Anthony from Xpress Moving took the time out of HIS morning to call me and hang up on me. First of all, there are 383 (THREE HUNDRED+) reviews that are "not recommended" by Yelp, and this place STILL has a 1.5 star rating. I requested some online quotes from various moving companies earlier this week. I received a call from an unknown NYC number so I picked it up on my way to work around 9:20 AM. As soon as ANTHONY introduced himself, I apologized and said I can't speak right now (because I was in the subway). Before I could even explain, he SLAMMED his phone and hung up. Really??? DO NOT EVER CONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY!!!! If I could give this company 0 stars I would. This is a hack and borderline criminal organization. They broke tons of my stuff, did not credit me with deposit I put down, showed up at 10pm for delivery, and were rude. The drivers walk you into your house and try to hustle you for money. They wont take your stuff off the truck before you pay them cash, and then if your door is more than 10 feet from the truck they start tacking on extra charges. On top of all of this, once you do pay them, they rush your stuff off the truck, smash it into the walls when they take it into your house, and then dont give you any time to look and see if it is broken before they leave faster than they came. The "insurance policy" only covers $0.60 / lb for what is broken and if you want to file a claim with them it is like pulling teeth. None of these guys understand the English language and they will try to hit you with a new charge at every corner. When I tried to argue about my security deposit the guy pretended to call " accounting" to get an answer and refused to take my stuff off unless I agreed with his charge. Three of my boxes I used to ship were smashed and destroyed. Additionally three lamps and lampshades were completely destroyed. Brand new bedding that had never been opened or used was opened and there were bugs in it. On top of that half of my stuff was soaking wet from god knows what. I ended up having to throw out all of my bedding and sheets because of these people. These people will lure you with a low estimate and then jack it up as much as they possibly can. They give you a 21 day window with absolutely no clarity on where or when your stuff will be arriving. It looked as though every single piece that I sent out had been rummaged through. I would not be surprised if they were zipping drugs into the packages that they were sending across the country. I read the prior Yelp reviews after I had booked and left a deposit for my move with X-Press Moving Vanlines Corp. last month. Needless to say, I was very nervous. Happy to report that these negative reviews were the complete opposite of my experience. From the very beginning, the gentleman (Anthony) who answered my call and provided me a quote and arranged for the COI for our Management company, to the 3 Hungarian gentleman who moved my boxes with grace and speed - they displayed utmost professionalism!!! A few details: X-Press Moving was the one of the first companies to reach out to me after I entered my information into the database. Anthony reviewed with me how many boxes and what sizes I had (I packed myself, and while I wasn't able to give him exact details because I hadn't finished packing - provided him with a ball-park). Minutes after we hung up, I received his estimate via email. He also informed me at that time of any extra charges I could expect to incur, i.e. tolls, parking. When they arrived for the move, one of the 3 gentlemen, who appeared to be the lead explained the process, the pricing, and the fact that they accept gratuities :-). They moved my 90+ boxes super speedy, extremely careful not to damage any walls/hallways/elevator and/or anything I had packed, and actually finished in less time than was quoted. Much to my surprise, the company actually credited me 1 hour given it took them one hour less than I was quoted to move me. While they were not the cheapest, (they were in line with most of the quotes I had received), I highly recommend you entrust them with your move, worth every penny!!! read more

Horrible moving company. Two of the men who came to move our things were hard working and polite while the other was very rude and direct . I went to tip them and he had the nerve to demand more money ?? I obviously didn't give it to him as we were moving a one bedroom apartment 5 minutes away. They did move everything and nothing appears to be broken HOWEVER they were extremely rude. I chose them because they were the cheapest but they ended up hiking up the price . I had high hopes for Xpress Moving Vanlines. I was moving across the country and didn't want to use any moving company that hired 3rd party movers. I was assured that they owned their own moving vans/trucks and they would be there with me from start to finish. The guys on the phone were very nice, they told me what I wanted to hear, and they quoted me at a low rate. Why wouldn't I choose them? The first place I went wrong was not looking into the quote they sent me thoroughly. I had told the guy on the phone that I had a lot of those large Rubbermaid containers. When I looked back at the quote, he put down that I had 10 (or so) small plastic containers. If I had looked more closely, then I wouldn't have been so shocked when the price doubled. That wasn't my problem with them...I'm just writing that so others know to look more closely. My stuff was supposed to leave Brooklyn on 4/6 and then get to California by 4/13-4/17. I was going on vacation with my boyfriend's family and Rony assured me over and over that my stuff would arrive before we left for vacation. When I arrived in California, I called the movers to get an estimated date of arrival. Long story short, I was told 3 different stories: 1) My stuff was on its way and would get there before we left; (2) My stuff was put on the wrong truck and it went to Colorado and back. (3) My stuff never left the warehouse because some other customer changed the dates that he/she wanted their stuff. I was livid. I had to go on vacation without my stuff arriving. I had to buy new clothes (since mine were mostly on the truck), new bathing suits, etc. I expressed my fury to the company and they decided to comp me $150 for my troubles. Although I appreciated the efforts, I felt that I was incredibly undercompensated for all of the crap that they put me through. During my vacation, the company called me and said that they could have my stuff arrive while I was away...and did I have any friends who could sit at my apartment all day and wait for it. I didn't. I told them this and they said that they would deliver my stuff when I got back. Then I was asked if it was okay for a THIRD PARTY to deliver my stuff. I said no. I worked with Xpress Moving Vanlines because of the fact that they did not use a third party. Guess what? They used a third party to deliver my items. Once everything was unpacked, I realized that one of my items was missing. I was so furious with this company, that I didn't even try to get my item back. The two men that I dealt with at this company were incredibly nice and appeared as though they wanted to help me and work with me. I highly recommend not going with this company. Read up on moving scams before using any mover. We chose them to move from Brooklyn to Atlanta because they had the lowest estimate. It turned out that they had the lowest estimate because they weren't going to honor it - and charged us double. The worst part was how nerve racking they made the experience. They promised delivery in about a week, verbally. When it didn't show up in a week, I called, and they said it would be another day or two. Every time I call they give me the run around and then eventually say it will be a day or two. Repeat this process for another two weeks, not knowing where all of my belongings were or whether I would see them again. When everything arrived, it was in fairly good condition. My golf clubs were missing and some small parts of a bookshelf which made the shelf useless. At that point, I was just glad to have most of my stuff. read more

Simple follow up was met by Anthony saying lady I don't know who you are, I don't know when your stuff is arriving the truck left Sunday. You already lied last week and didnt have our items on a truck now it's on a truck but I don't know since I don't know or care who I'm speaking to. I guess we have to call the lawyer next week. Run. Don't use this company. I got a quote on the phone of 1,500 from a sales representative and once the moving men showed up they said three and only two guys showed up but the moving guy walked around and started making new quotes and the end result was. I needed four guys and it went from 8 hrs to at least 12 hours and the amount was 2500 plus wrapping fees which was bull!!! So sad how they lowball the price to try to stick you. The Xpress team were great, incredibly professional, and fast. They arrived on time, dis-assembled all the big pieces of furniture (bed, table), wrapped my lamps securely, and even managed to transport two big decals that were on my wall, which I had feared i would have to leave behind. Altogether the move took just under three hours, and everything arrived in perfect condition. I will definitely use them again if I have to move in the city! read more

Used xpress movers a year ago for a cross country move. Although a wouldn't rate them very high because if the fact I saw them drop a box or two of mine that contained glassware. But here I am a year later finally opening a box of my mothers irreplaceable china, waiting to find the right place to display them, one box that contained the larger plates were completely shattered inside. To late to do anything about it but warn people do not use them. I am devastated. read more

Please never use these movers. They are terrible. We used them because they moved my mom from New York to Florida and she had no problems. For us it was a horrible experience. First they gave us a great price but when all was said and done we played more than double!!!We moved from NY to North Carolina it took our items over 3 weeks to get to us. They first said their driver was pulled in for drug testing so no other person could drive their trucks. We were repeatedly told everything was on the way when in fact it was still in Brooklyn. The majority of our items were either broken or destroyed. Every single box or package looked as if they were just thrown in the truck MULTIPLE TIMES!!! The packed boxes were broken and smashed, my clothes were hanging out of one box. Everything smelled. They destroyed a dining room set, 100 year old telephone table, china, my great grandmothers coat plus many many other items. We are missing a large box of serving platters. They probably broke them too and threw them out. When I called them to tell them how damaged everything was their response was make a list. Subsequent calls to the owner were never returned. They even damaged a wall in my BRAND NEW HOME! read more
