I used Yelp's "request quote" feature and Javad (the owner) replied right away. He itemized his services for us and that helped us understand the min-max costs. We got locked out of our house, so he charged a $30/service charge (I assume that's time, gas, etc), $90 to open our front door, and $42 for a new deadbolt (in the event of having to replace lock). We ended up not using his services, because our landlord showed up to let us in. But we really appreciated Javad's quick response and detailed estimate. read more

I had a problem with my keys getting stuck in the deadbolt lock. I reached out to six locksmiths via Yelp's quote requests, and X-press was one of the two that replied promptly. The quote was $95 including service charge (no extra charge on weekends). A.J. came out at the requested time and got right to work. He verified the problem and repinned the lock, solving the issue. A.J. also noted that the keys we were using (copies newly cut at Home Depot) were not brass and would not hold up well. He offered to cut new brass keys ($4 each) and had that done quickly too. Lastly, I mentioned that I planned to move the strike plate down a touch, as it was never aligned when the door was installed. He suggested grinding off a bit of the strike plate instead, and he did this for free. Overall we are super happy with the service received. My only quibble would be that shoe covers were not used. read more

Xpress is right! My front door bolt got jammed (it is decades old) and I can't get out from the front door. After I send them the pictures of the lock inside and outside, he came in less than 30 minutes, no appointment needed. When he got here, he opened the bolt (which for the life of me couldn't figure out how to open to get to the inside) and changed out the lock in a few minutes. My door, like typical California houses, is actually misaligned due to years of temperature changes from hot-cold-ho-cold. He fixed the alignment for me. Offered service to rekey the new keys on the spot to match my old keys. He cleaned up professionally after he's done. Very professional, quick response, price is very reasonable given it was an emergency call. I definitely will call them again if I need anything else as they are a family business. read more

Imagine my dismay to come home after a long day, put my key in the front door only to have it spin around uselessly. The deadbolt wouldn't open! Frank was here in 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, after verifying the door really belonged to me, he had the old lock drilled out, us inside, and was finishing up a new lock. He did a rekey in another lock as well, and was super careful to make sure all the metal shavings were cleaned up from drilling and even offered payment options.
